The Square Royale in Caerphilly

We had my Nan's 80th celebrations in October and again my mother's 60th yesterday... Both times were great!! The staff went above and beyond each time to ensure we had the best experience there possible... We didn't have to book and they allowed us to put up some decorations... Dale and his team were amazing, very friendly, professional and could not do enough for us... Food was lovely and plentiful portions... Everyone in my party were very satisfied... Highly recommended either for an occasion or just for a night out... Will definately be going there again 👍

Good value for money on Sunday dinner

Had some of the best night's with friends here. Food is amazing and the burgers are the best I have tasted. Pub has always been full and a very good atmosphere. Have always accommodated us even on the busiest of days. Best establishment around!!!

Huge pub with a big open-plan bar. Live music starts early (typically 7:30 - 10:00). Have some excellent bands.

Food was lovely. Wasn’t aware food is cold on arrival and has to be heated up, and that all the orders are placed then 1 poor driver goes out and delivers them all from 12;30. If you live close by the pub you’ll have it quick, sadly we live in Treharris so delivery took 3 hours… this is all mentioned in there info bit but you have to click on it, should be at the top before you order, lovely food though, but bare it mind if you live far away, you will be last delivery hope this helps 👍🏻

Quiet at first at 6.30 on a Friday but I can imaging it gets busier later on.. Nice looking and clean with a family atmosphere

Dreadful service. My partner is a diabetic and needs food at regular times. Second delivery slot came and gone. Really sloppy service will not order again.

Food was really good, but a 4hr delivery wait is unacceptable. Got 2 kids who go to the other parent at 2pm every weekend so ordered at 10.55am and arrived at 2.45pm so half the food went in the bin. Was told they start deliveries at oakdale and work across other areas, ours being the last. Shouldn’t this be explained on just eat, because if this is the case I’ll always have my food later than everyone else?

Ordered the food at 10:30am and received it at 2:30pm. Trying to contact them to find out where the food was, was a job in itself as they don't answer. Then when they finally did answer was told foods out for delivery and not much they could do about it as they only have 1 driver. That he just left and had loads to deliver. That was at 2pm. So after paying £40 and waiting hour's it finally got to us stone cold.

Slow service, not the most pleasant staff!

There is a bargoed music festival on the 6th of July and I guess that it would be very busy that day my question is will it be open at 10am for breakfast

I booked for 12.15 but got a message saying the driver leaves at 12.30 which was fine. food however turned up at 1.25pm

Had few Sunday Lunches here and Takeaway. Decent roast dinner well priced and so conveniently located for me

My son ordered 2 large dinners as a treat. Only enough gravy for 1 dinner so gave that to my husband. Please explain what is extra to make it large portion compared to normal size. 3 thin slices beef 3 small potatoes 2 medium roast 1 Yorkshire pud. Please see pic below

Its average but there are no table numbers which can leave staff cpnfised as to who to take food too.

Large Menu and Amazing Food, Loads of Types Cold Beer and Ciders, Helpful and Welcoming Employees, Warm and Inviting Atmosphere, Clean and Well Maintained Establishment, Pool Tables, Dart Boards All and all a great place to kick back on a Saturday night and relax with family or friends.

Had food here previously, and it was lovely, but this evening, terrible. I asked for a rare steak, and it came back medium and fairly cold. I did explain to the waitress, but she didn't seem to care?? Won't go again

Went for a Sunday lunch beef dinner and apple pie for afters, my mother had the chicken dinner and ice cream to follow, beef and chicken was tender gravy superb veg perfect no complaints worth a visit!

Get together for 45 people today for Sunday lunch. The food was enjoyed by everyone. It came out hot and vert tasty. The gravy was the icing on the cake. The staff were very helpful and helpful. Would recommend.

Spacious pub with friendly staff. TV's showing sport, pool tables and darts boards. Very nice place.

Had a pint in here a few weeks ago and was sitting quite happy o the sofa at the window till.the guy at the table behind us proceeded to open a large can of dog food and empty into a bowl for his dog. It was absolutely stinking and not what you want to smell while enjoying a beer. Some other customers were eating while the guy fed.his dog. Place was stinking of cheap dog food. Manky......

Good food at a reasonable price

The all day breakfast was a huge disappointment. It was completely undercooked and I had to wait for the "chef" to finish his cigarette break before I could raise the issue with him

Couldn't fault the food, service or atmosphere. A good local treasure.

Called in with a few mates for a post Christmas catch up and a bite to eat. We often catch up somewhere during the week and we've been here several times. The food is very good the chips are real chips made from real potatoes, not frozen. There is a good selection of beers and spirits to choose from and the staff are always friendly.

Owner is rude and shouted at me because they got my order wrong twice and then charged me an extra 6 pounds to get my order right

Popped in with a few freinds on a Friday afternoon. Couple drinks fair price. Nice atmosphere. Clean. Didnt eat but food looked ok.

Lovely big restaurant with good food and plenty of choices. Different meal deals on certain days (burger and a beer etc), good drink choices and lovely staff

Had a meal here today with my wife, both enjoyed our meals, staff are friendly, pub is clean and my favourite local, manager is a real nice guy and is always hard at work

food was piggish and foul the owner should be ashamed. Best food ever don't come again especially dont bring ur ******* kids

Collection at requested time, was not ready and ticket was lost by staff. Waited 15 minutes before given food. When leaving, staff member came after me stating that they had forgotten gravy for two Sunday dinners and they would return meals to car outside with gravy. Meals were re-delivered and advised that ran out of roast potatoes, and Yorkshire puddings. Advised that extras had been put in, however they were the extras I paid for already, including Yorkshire puddings. Potential missed calls when returned home, which were returned and hung up on. Ordered apple pie and custard, however only got custard. Gravy was only enough for one meal. Food was cold. Yorkshire puddings were present in meals. I’d like to say it was a positive experience, but was very disorganised and miscommunication from three different staff members I interacted with. I cannot recommend this place based on todays experience.

Popped in to see my sister in law to celebrate her birthday had a lovely roast dinner bit sort on roast potatoes but very nice staff very friendly and welcoming

Food was spot on. Well packaged and collection was very easy. I forgot to collect my drink, but the food was gold.

Nice decor, good atmosphere, food good value and nicely presented. I chose from the OAP menu, plenty of choice and a good size portion. Friendly staff. School holidays and a few unruly children running riot which was irritating as well as dangerous.

Amazing atmosphere, lovely food and the service is really good I have been there a number of times and will keep going there.

Went here Friday, 7th July 2023, to see the comedienne January Rees. She decided to throw a Diva Strop at the last minute and did not perform. Fortunately, my partner stepped in and sang for the manager. He did not disappoint, and everyone had a great night of singing and dancing. Cannot comment on the food but the service Nd atmosphere here is spot on. Will go again

Just had a takeaway Sunday lunch for me and the wife due to her illness. I must say it was the best meal we've had in a long long time. Cant wait till she's back on her feet so we can enjoy lunch in the pub. Well worth a 5 star rating.

Another superb Sunday lunch delivery today. The beef was falling apart, five different vegetables, potatoes, yorkie, stuffing ball and gravy to die for. Five stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Had food here recently and all I can say is, it was amazing for the price. Almost gourmet standard food at really reasonable prices. Best place around the bargoed area, especially considering the high price and poor quality of overhyped food in the likes of Murray’s.

Just had the worst homemade cornedbeef pie ever waited 40 minutes for 2 meals mine the pie was full of carrots some hole and not cooked through very little corned beef or potato mostly carrots 7 chips very pale and lukewarm and cold peas and instant gravy pie was tasteless my wife had jkt potato very small with beans again small amount and salad mostly lettuce and 2 slices of cucumber and 1 slice of tomato only half of the hot potato was cooked. Will never go there again!

Veg was cooked perfectly, however, the roast potatoes were a let down, the meat was dry, and the gravy was so peppery from the beef stock that it ruined the meal… wouldn’t bother again

Lovely food with a menu available for Seniors at an economic rate

Lovely staff, pub looks and seems clean. Fairly decently priced items. But food took for ever to come out ordered with a large group of people for a birthday party. Ordered a double beef burger. Took nearly 45 min to 1 hour to cook. And last to come out. After everyone else's food was given 15 mins after.

Lovely place, with lovely staff and lovely food. I'd eat there every day if I could.

I ordered dirty fries but after a 40 minute wait was told they were off the menu and was asked to order something else. I ordered a chicken and mayonnaise baguette which was ok, a bit dry, but was given a 'free coleslaw' for the inconvenience. All in all there was an hour's wait for the food but it was good.

Ordered 3 dinners for collection. Rang up and asked to add an extra portion of potatoes, paid for these in cash when i got there. Took over 20 minutes to collect. They asked me to check for the extra potatoes, checked and didn't see any so told the staff member who then told me they were already in the meals. I queried as i asked for an extra portion separate, was assured they were in there. Got home to find a Large meal consists of 5 potatoes total. 2 roast and 3 boiled. No extra portions in sight.

Absolutely would recommend the food here portion sizes are really big , beautifully cooked, and very reasonable Although very quiet for a Saturday -shame We had Garlic breaded mushrooms Jalapeño and cream cheese bites For starter Sirloin steak and chips peas salad (perfect) Corned beer pie chips peas gravy (real chips….awesome) We will definitely be back on our next visit to the valleys 5 ⭐️From us 👏
