The best restaurants serving British food in South Wales

Amazing service here, came here for food and drinks on my stag and I cant give enough praise to the staff who looked after us, the food is great and the boys definitely got into the spirit of the evening, we felt very welcome and at home, by the time we were leaving we could barely walk and even the locals at the bar got chatting with us and some even aided in the games. What a great atmosphere, great staff, what a night! Will definitely have to go back in the future, thanks so much guys for having us 🙏

Sunday morning, sat out in the sun in the centre of Cardiff at Bwyty Heyes Island Snack Bar. Nice big cappuccino, and a massive fully loaded breakfast roll. £9 all in. Quality bargain. Funky tunes an fun staff. Defo worth a visit

Me and my sister called in for some lunch but unfortunately there wasn't a table available and lots had been reserved such a shame as I used to eat here alot with my mother until they started reserving tables used to love their soups snd vegi food As its a cafe I don't think places should be reserved spoiled it tbh

Best vegan spot! Really friendly staff and dog friendly! The food is unbelievably good. We traveled from Portsmouth just to try this place and we will definitely be back!

Booked for Sunday lunch 2 of us had lamb which was tough fed back to kitchen not much veg, a desert spoon of peas cabbage and carrots between 3 people.

Me encantó la presentación y la vajilla.El ambiente era bueno y el personal estaba realmente encima de asegurarse de que tuviéramos suficientes bebidas, etc. Todo estaba bien explicado al principio y me sentí cómodo yendo allí.¡Definitivamente lo recomendaría!

Pretty lowly place. Went in on a Saturday afternoon, and the ladies there don't seem very keen to be working. Slammed my pint of coke down, then when I went to pay told me it's a minimum spend of £5 on card, which is utter nonsense. You could charge 50p if you wanted too.. So I got stung for crisps and nuts I didn't want. Old looking inside and in dire need of some love. Beer garden looks reasonable for a nice day.

Fantastic visit! 6 of us arrived to celebrate mam’s 80th birthday. I always have concerns with large tables as I can appreciate getting that much food out at once is no easy job. I have to say I don’t know what I was worried about! Everyone’s food was served prompt and piping hot. Service was friendly and efficient! I had funghi Italiano to start, lasagne, garlic bread and chips for main and I pinched a spoonful of my husbands biscoff cheesecake to finish. All absolutely lush! Wouldn’t definitely recommend this pub!

Never heard of this place but glad I do now. Proper home cooked pub food is apt but this deserves more. Pie is amazing. Burger juicy and so tasty. Again clearly homemade. Not often you see slices of stake and ale pie anymore. The desserts are plentiful and nice to see a vegan dessert as one dairy intolerant could join in. (Said it was delicious) staff as good as the food. Now on our to return list.

Came for lunch with friends, left disappointed, food was very salty, ordered a korma.. which tasted nothing like a korma more like a bitter sweet chip shop curry sauce… chips where overcooked and soggy, as if they’d been pre cooked and then warmed back up, my little one didn’t touch her overcooked nuggets and soggy chips, did try the peas but they were undercooked so spat them out!, ordered a cheesecake to share with the little one for dessert & it was very sour tasting, so left it, ended up with us being sick that night. Friends food very salty and not tasty, told the waitress at the bar and she mentioned that someone else that day had complained about the cheesecake also! Been numerous times over the years and used to have beautiful food but the last two visits now since last year have been horrendous hence not going as often. Not sure if a change of chef but the place has gone really downhill food wise considering it was a quiet lunch time. Noticed a lot of wasted food and food sent back also by other customers. Also back play area for kids was locked which was always a bonus. Will not be returning.

I went for a Sunday roast today, the food was amazing! Very friendly customer service as well, would definitely recommend 👌

Wonderful food from an adventurous menu in a wonderful setting - quiet and relaxed with an oldy world feeling.

Lovely friendly staff and very good value for money. A large chips was huge. Popped in to break a journey and will make a regular stopping place.
