Visited midweek and the restaurant was really quiet. The food and service were excellent. They have a dedicated vegan menu with a good variety of dishes, which makes things super straightforward for vegans, and means that I'll definitely return to try the other main course options (was delighted there was more than one choice). I highly recommend the tempura mushroom starter, it was great.

Louise cooked dinner for eight of us at the Five Turrets in Selkirk. It was a family celebration and as we were having drinks and nibbles Louise arrived with minimal disruption. Louise cooked, served us at the table and then cleared away leaving the kitchen space perfectly clean and tidy. The food was amazing! The Beef Wellington cooked to perfection. The experience for us was wonderful. Restaurant quality food in a relaxed 'home' setting. Thank you Louise and thanks to the Five Turrets for the recommendation.

Popped in for dinner with our dog and we enjoyed a very nice meal. Sirloin steak and chips were very nice and well cooked and presented. Chicken Goujons too were home cooked and very nice but it was the puddings that made this a five star review. Sticky toffee pudding with brandy snap and ice cream and Chocolate and Orange cake and ice cream. Yum Yum. Pleasant surroundings and nice staff. Good stuff!

Lovely, small cafe in the centre of Melrose. The savoury scone was good and the chutney really made it special. Great staff

Lovely location.Excellent coffee but spoilt by dogs being taken out for coffee by their owners/parents.Dogs barking.Get a grip I like dogs but they should not be in cafes and restaurants.

Gone downhill over last 2 to3 years Used to use regularly but no more. Had to wipe our seats clean, should have walked out then. Food more pub standard microwaved fare. Unfortunately prices do not relect reality.

Oh dear! This used to be a lovely place to eat. The current management leaves a lot to be desired. Staffing all very amateurish. Several items missing from the menu because "they were waiting for deliveries." Couldn't even remember to bring the requested water to table. Food perfectly acceptable but nothing very exciting although still relatively expensive. I notice that the accompanying photos on this site are from the days of previous ownership. Nothing like as cosy now. Not in a hurry to revisit.

Best bakers in the Scottish Borders, their apples pies are absolutely delicious. In fact anything you buy is lovely highly recommended.

No off road Parking, rooms ok, old carpets, low ceilings and wonky floors, but clean, shower head wouldn’t stay up and they knew about it as clearners had propped it half way up with the soap bottel Bar food good and beakfast was very nice

A warm welcome to this hidden gem in the Borders. We chose to spend our Hogmanay at the Black Bull and we are delighted to have done so. Decor, rooms, cleanliness, ambience, service and especially the food were worthy of five stars and we have no hesitation in recommending this establishment to the wider community.
