Delicious Sunday lunch with family whilst on holiday near Melrose. Two of us had the Sunday roast (beef) which was very good with all the trimmings cooked well. The other meals were very good too. We had a warm welcome and friendly and efficient waiters. We sat outside in the sun which added to the experience but the dining room also looked nice.

Service was very good. The food was good quality, but I really do feel that it was overpriced. Poor selection of beers and ciders.

Due to being let down by Marmioms Brasserie Melrose we had to find some where else for our Anniversary Meal. We were lucky enough to get a table for 2 at The Townhouse Melrose. The service was very friendly and professional and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I had the absolute pleasure of staying here recently for work, sadly only for one night! What a beautiful hotel in a stunning town, everything was well appointed and nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff. Parking is on the square in front of the hotel, it was full the first time I passed but then there was a space free. Apparently you can park in the sister hotel’s carpel over the road if need be. I stayed in room 5 which overlooked the square with a lovely bay window. The staff arranged for me to have room service (which I don’t think they ordinarily do) and it was fantastic, some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. Breakfast was lovely and served in the dining room downstairs. Can’t wait to return!

Our meal was amazing. Wine and beer arrived quickly and our order was taken without too much delay. Service was very good and the restaurant was immaculate. Steak was cooked to perfection and my fish was full of flavour. One of the best places to eat in Melrose.

Whilst walking in the Melrose area, we needed a light lunch. We selected the Townhouse from the wide selection of cafes and restaurants in the town. Despite the restaurant being fairly busy we received a pleasant welcome and they managed to find a table. We selected their soup and sandwich deal. The food arrived promptly after drinks. The soup was very tasty and the roast ham sandwiches were generous in size and presented on soft brown bread. We could not have asked for better. If in the area again we would most cetaintly select the Townhouse.

Had a meal for my Wife and Myself, during a trip to Melrose. Very reasonably priced, good choice on menu, and very knowledgeable staff. Were served in record fast time, for an upmarket eatery such as this. The food was exceptional, and was served with a smile from the Courteous Staff. Will use this place again, and after looking round,Will probably stay in one of their beautiful rooms as well.

There are not many places where you can see a menu which ranges from Guinea Fowl, to Rabbit with the usual steaks, fish etc.The starter of crab salad was very good, with some distinctive flavours and the standard of food was excellent.A nice sociable atmosphere and great service means that we will definitely be coming back to the Townhouse.

My husband and I popped in here around 4pm for a drink. They didn't serve alcohol until 5pm so we ordered half a soda water each. We nearly fell through the floor when we were charged £5... for fizzy water!

Arrived in the town and not familiar with the eateries. Looked at various menus outside and decided to go for The Townhouse. Great decision, food and service were excellent. The saddle of rabbit, dauphinoise potatoes and selection of green vegetables were delicious. To be well recommended.

A nice short menu, lovely presentation and served by attentive staff. This was a leisurely dinner and we were happy with the service which wasn’t fussy. The brasserie was full and buzzy. Some nice touches too with warm bread with pesto and a good house wine list. Enjoyed every mouthfull.

Welcoming and gracious staff. Food, especially fish and chips and Cullen skink, was so good. Would definitely stay here again. Right in the heart of town.

Most of the dishes were pretty much okay, but if you're selling haddock and chips for £14.25 the least you can do is buy potatoes, peel and deep fry them - not reach for a catering pack of low-quality chips. If I'm eating in a restaurant I want food that's at least as good as I can do at home.Service started off well, but fell way with a 30 minute wait before there was any interest in supplying the dessert menu.

great room, we liked the view here, lookng out on to the Melrose main drag. Just as good was the innovation on the menu, freshly made food, eg cheese soufflé. Quite a busy lunchtime too. Well served. Very reliable (and much enjoyed by Antipodeans last Summer too).

Just enjoyed an excellent meal in the Brasserie. My venison, beetroot & celeriac gratin, venison & chestnut faggot, roasted beetroot and red grape jus was very good and my wife enjoyed the guinea fowl special. Cheeses were well kept, came with a lovely fresh tasting chutney and plenty of biscuits! What made it even better was the apparently very low mark up on their wine list. We had a great bottle of Pingus Psi which retails at about £25 and was sold at £46 which in terms of restaurant mark ups is astonishingly low and gave us a chance to enjoy this lesser wine from the fabled Pingus domain at a half decent price. Other wines seemed also to be keenly priced. IMO there are some restaurants that you simply should not go to on account of their cynical approach to wine pricing. Well done Townhouse.

It is a lovely restaurant to go to in Melrose and the staff are very attentive but unfortunately the choice of food on the Special Menu for lunch did not do us any good. We ordered the 'Crab Linguini with Sweet Chilli sauce & Baby coriander Salad' @ £12.50 and 'Coconut Chicken Goujons, mixed salad, Curried Mayo Dip, served with a choice of chips, boiled potatoes or wedges' @ £12.25. We waited about 20 minutes although we were the 3rd couple that entered the restaurant. Then came the food. We could hardly see any crab meat amongst the Linguini. The chicken dish turned out to be the wrong dish. But worse - the vegetables in this dish was canned mixed vegetables with 2 broccoli sprigs and 3 green beans on top of the canned vegetables. How is it possible that an upmarket restaurant could use canned mixed vegetables in their dishes and not fresh vegetables? Needless to say, we went to another tearoom for our coffee.

Go here now before everyone else figures out what amazing value this place is! The drive through the Scottish countryside is stunning (a half-hour drive from the railway stop at Galashiels). The owners have created something special that I simultaneously want to keep to myself and share with the world. Oxana's hosting (and baking and wine-pairing) skills mean you are welcomed with friendly service, clear explanations of the wine pairings and amazing, sweet treats. We have been twice - once in September and once in November - and from beginning to end, our glasses were never empty, and we were treated to amazing service. Now, the food is really something to talk about. Bryn is doing something special here. The food is fresh and innovative while remaining down to earth and approachable. A simple parsnip soup sent our table to heaven with its perfect spice. We had pork belly with the crunchiest crackling and lentils with vegetables that were flavoured so beautifully I couldn't tell what was in them. Blue cheese with truffled honey had all of us begging for more. Every bite is a delight, and some of it was items I wouldn't normally order. This food, this place, is truly something special, reflecting our Borders community and some of the best food in Scotland. Go now!

Stopped in for some lunch today. Friendly service with a good and varied choice of menu. Offers half portions of meals if more suitable. Brilliant value. Hot and cold options available. Felt like the teapot was bottomless, think it was 3 cupfuls in total!

Wonderful food and so nicely presented and the young man serving was so polite and professional. Only negative was the disappointing vegetarian options for my sister. Macaroni cheese is more suited to a cafe menu. But a lovely evening none the less.

Got to say, I’ve never had a bad meal or experience in here. The ham hock and lentil soup as amazing, the steak and mushroom pie was outstanding. It was packed with lean steak in a lush, beefy broth type gravy. Great fies, a la dente peas and everything was piping hot and cooked to order. Even the plates were warm, which I always appreciate. The staff were great and the owner is a real friendly guy. If yer heading North or South on the A68, make sure this is yer pit stop, even for a coffee and cake. Made me smile today whilst I was eating, it was that good. It looks like a greasy spoon if you pass it on the road, but it’s not! It’s on a par with very good pub grub, and it’s really clean inside, as is the kitchen which I passed on the way to use the bathroom.
