The best restaurants serving British food in Edinburgh and Lothian

No problem with finding a table on a busy Saturday evening could of been a bigger table for 4 people, little cramped once the food arrived, sharing platter well presented and tasty, main course choices good ,friendly and helpful waitress.

A cosy and friendly cafe with delicious and interesting food. The staff could not be nicer. I always feel welcome and rather at home in the warm atmosphere. The toasted house wrap is great as are the incredible cakes. Really good flat white as well!

Lovely cafe at the rear of the gift shop. Super friendly staff and the best scones in East Lothian. The gift shop is also well worth a visit.

A must visit for Whisky lovers. They don't share brand names on bottles. Just distillery name, year, flavor in the bottle. Andrew was perfect host, glad he helped.

Food ok, large portions (between 15 and 17 pounds per portion), the flavors are not out of this world.

We had a wonderful experience dining here! The staff went above and beyond with their excellent service and made special arrangements for my mum’s birthday, which made the occasion truly memorable. We really appreciate the thoughtful touches! The food was delicious, and the service throughout was attentive and friendly. Thank you so much team! 🥰🥰🥰

The place appears to be closed. I was in the area today and had hoped to pop in for a quick pint and a bite to eat, but found signs up saying that it was closed due to 'Electrical Issues' whatever that might mean. It was showing on Google as open.

I've tried many fish and chips including some of the best in the UK and i can safely say East Coast is not one of them. First off £18.50 is on the expensive side for fish and chips. The haddock wasn't very fresh (6 out of 10) and the batter is crispy but super oily and absorbs all the oil. The chips were not bad but i'd say there wasn't enough to justify the price. On the plus side, the atmosphere and the service was good. The fishmarket, Berties, and Landy's are all far better in terms of freshness of the fish and the batter they use for their fish. Portion size, quality and also pricing is also more reasonable too.

✅Clean room with decent space. ✅provides hot chocolate sachet and shortbread biscuits, kind of reminds me of double tree cookie. ✅Check in was a breeze and staff(Raman?) was very kind in sharing with us a map of the city and the attractions we can visit. 📍 Not near the train station, recommend taking an uber from Waverly. Walking with a luggage isn’t recommended due to the slopes and rocky/bricky pavement.

Great food and customer service

I would love to say a HUGE shout out to the staff who served our table of 10 on Saturday evening - yes some of us were not able to order food as the kitchen closed but our waiter provided us with wonderful service despite having been meant to leave his shift hours before. My flat iron steak - the reason I booked here in the first place - was absolutely fabulous! Fully recommend - and very much appreciated! Thank you!
