Unfortunately it was bad experience in this hotel, management team not friendly and have stupid policy to charge 30 pounds for extra hour when I need it urgently for online business meeting. The manager came and said same stupid policy which never be a problem in hundreds of hotel around the world. Also, hot water never come before 15-20 minutes which is very long to wait in bathroom. The food less than average and the location is not that great. Manager and morning staff totally increasingly and speak bad while the night shifts are great young men who looks and speaks friendly.

Stayed for two nights. The hotel is in a nice spot, relatively quiet and within handy walking distance to a good number of attractions. The room was clean, very clean and spacious. The pillows were low and hard with some sort of rubble in them, at least that's how they felt to me and I appreciate this is my I opinion, others may get on fine with them. The staff were brilliant, can't say enough about them. The hotel itself was also very clean which is unusual nowadays as you can generally find something to tut tut at. Food, so Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas. Fish, large piece tasty but slightly greasy. Chips, weren't, they were frozen fries and the peas, processed and mashed utter failure. Breakfast, had it not been part of the package I wouldn't pay the asking price. Quality just about par with a Travel Lodge, in fact no, a bit of work would be required to drag it up there. Would I return, yes because I can eat elsewhere, the Staff, location and cleanliness not so easy to replace.

The hotel is centrally located, which is convenient for exploring the city. However, the overall experience was underwhelming for a supposed 4-star establishment. At best, it feels like a 3-star hotel. The rooms are outdated, with old carpets that need replacement. The bathroom fan is excessively loud and can be heard from the bedroom, making it hard to relax. Additionally, the side exit smells strongly of frying oil, likely due to the nearby KFC. The doors are not soundproof, so noise from the hallway is easily audible, which can be disruptive. There is no complimentary water in the rooms, something I would expect from a hotel of this rating. Parking is only available on the street and costs a steep £24 for 4 hours (max stay 4h!!). Check-in was acceptable but unremarkable. Overall, not a stay I’d recommend unless location is your top priority.

Visited for 2 nights prior to Christmas. Great location and a lovely, clean and comfortable top floor room. Room given 4 stars as heating wasn't working and we couldn't move rooms as hotel was full. However, staff organised a portable heater which did the trick. Parking onsite is very limited and is charged as an extra. Food and drink pricey but no more than other hotels I've stayed in (and being ex airline crew, I've stayed in a lot!) Staff all very polite, friendly, professional and helpful but Justyna's customer service skills are exceptional and I hope the hotel owners recognise how fortunate they are to have her on the team. Nicely tucked in a quiet corner of the bustling area in Edinburgh. In walking distance to nearly everywhere worth visiting in Edinburgh city centre. The breakfast is a bit dated. They can do with a modern shake up of the services and options. For example, there is an old toaster option for the only kind of bread served that I last saw in the old dorms of late 80s. In walking distance from the hotel you can find excellent coffee shops with excellent choices for a nice breakfast. Also, our room was not cleaned the first day on time. I think the staff missed it until I highlighted it to them. They sorted it out immediately.

Edinburgh is a superb city, a little humid of course but certainly superb. --------------------- Hotel very well located, impeccable despite the breakfast being too classic but there is quality and quantity lacking the variety that I am looking for. Ah, the coffee is very British (i.e. frankly not great). The staff is on point and the bar is excellent, which makes up for it. Holyrood Park, which can be reached from this hotel in less than five minutes on foot (if you push the pace a little), is a must-see, it's the perfect place for a morning run before seriously starting your day. --------------------- What else can I say? Yes of course, I had been angry with whiskey for over 35 years but my time in Scotland allowed me to see the diversity and high quality of local Single Mats which are rarely/difficult to find in France; provided you pay the price, you can quench your thirst with some excellent peated/smoked wines, which made me decide after our return to France to order a few bottles in anticipation of the heatwaves to come.

Would agree with a lot of the comments on here. Great location. Beautiful hotel. We didn't try the restaurant, but the hotel owns a "cafe" around the corner that was perfect for breakfast. Just be careful when you book. We booked for us and another couple and wound up spending 4 grand for 3 nights after being accused of (and "penalized" for) double booking, which is ludicrous. Basically, we're out $1550. Having contacted the internationally known European travel adviser who recommended this place with our experience, it sounds like our concerns have been expressed by others.

During our recent stay at 10 Hill Place, I encountered several disappointments that unfortunately marred our experience. Despite the positive reviews, our expectations for a pleasant one-night stay as we journeyed onward to Perth were not met. Upon arrival, we were assured of a complimentary breakfast the next morning. However, we were later informed that breakfast would not be available, which led to an uncomfortable and awkward situation. Furthermore, the level of service did not align with the high standards typically expected from a well-reviewed establishment. The staff's demeanor appeared indifferent, and there was a palpable sense of being undervalued as a customer. This was particularly disconcerting given the premium we paid for our accommodations. Additionally, the physical comfort of the room was subpar. The bed was notably uncomfortable, and the pillows were exceptionally hard, which significantly detracted from the quality of our stay. Given these issues, I do not plan to return to this establishment and feel compelled to express my dissatisfaction with the overall experience.

My stay at this hotel was not very good. I got a room for disabled people with a noisy fan which would make it impossible to sleep at night. The receptionist was not interested in helping as she did not hear the fan herself and thought I should ignore the sound. I got a new room, but directly above the restaurant. Every evening and night I heard a sound that reminded me of an electric car reversing, or someone playing on a game machine. The worst part was that the last night I found an insect that looked a lot like a bed bug. The hotel has nice rooms, it was a bit outside, but still within walking distance of most things. The receptionists are unfortunately not the nicest and most helpful, the hotel is very noisy, and possibly has bed bugs (this is something the hotel should check). I would think twice before booking a room at this hotel.

We ate at 10 Hill Place in the late afternoon. Several of us chose haggis, neeps and tatties from the main section of the menu, titled Bar Classics. The "small" fish and chips was a big meal, as was the lentil burger, the club sandwich, and even the starter of loaded fries (the only gluten free item on the menu). The haggis came with a tablespoon of orange mash and a lattice of potato balanced on top. This lattice had approximately the same content as a quarter of a Pringle. There was half a teaspoon of whisky sauce smeared round the edge of the plate. We asked the waiter who brought it where the potatoes were, and were told they were mashed with the neeps. When we said we weren't happy with the amount, he told us to put a review on trip advisor! The next waiter to come in told us that starters were always small. When we said it was a main, she was confused, then said that we must have ordered it from the day menu. That was the only menu we had been given. She sympathised, but offered no solution or compromise. We ate our meals, gratefully for the friends who shared their chips with us so that we could pretend we had had a full meal, like theirs. The whole party were feeling very aggrieved, when Ashley, another staff member, came to see how we were getting on. She was the first person who offered to do anything about it, saying she woukd speak to the kitchen staff. She was able to get the automatic 10% service charge removed from our bill, which went some way to improving the situation. From what all the staff said, there have been issues in the past. The haggis seems to be on as a starter on the evening menu, but it was in the main course section of the day menu. Had they added 50p worth of mashed potatoes we would have been fairly happy with the meal. Even if they increased the price by £1 to compensate for that. But to serve a starter as a main meal because it is lunch time, without letting us know when we ordered it, then to tell us to review the meal rather than actually doing anything to remedy it, was very poor service. The food was very tasty. For the sake of 50p of tatties, and a bit of staff training, what might have been a 4 star review is now only 2 stars. By the way, the pic attached (from their website) is on a small plate, and has at least twice the mash and 10 times the sauce compared to our meals.

Having heard of the fantastic food at the Surgeons Quarter from family we thought we would have to give it a try when visiting with friends. We opted for the three courses, coffee and a bottle of wine for £79 for two people. This was amazing value as it even included the fillet steak which, my very fussy husband said, was cooked to perfection and was really tender. The staff were very friendly and professional and the food was amazing. I can thoroughly recommend both the white chocolate mousse with popcorn icecream and the rhubarb souffle which my husband had. Two night stay here with dinner on the first night. When we realised that this was a Best Western hotel we were not expecting much in the way of dining. However, what a great surprise. The meals we had were superb, interesting menu, beautifully prepared and so tasty. Chicken Ravioli, wonderful Venison and Pheasant and so filling that there was no room for puds.

After having eaten at the restaurant, we knew the more basic menu in the bar would be good. It didn't disappoint.

Evening meal was included in our deal and we were so impressed the first night that we booked in for the second. An interesting menu away from the usual dishes. The food was beautifully presented and each course was explained carefully by the excellent staff.

I work at the Royal College of Surgeons, so why did it take me two and a half years to try this place for lunch? I explained that I had to be back at my desk within the hour. The helpful staff were very accommodating and had my lunch ready in time for me to relax and enjoy the ambience. I am a huge chicken Caesar salad fan, and get annoyed with the silly variations served in restaurants. 10 Hill place have the recipe spot on.Well done guys.

They are trying very hard for a hotel - the staff are very friendly and helpful. The menu is ambitious - for example the Paris Brest was a disappointment to those who have eaten the real thing (for example the whole thing was far too big, the pastry too dry and the filling far too thick.)They are sort of nearly there it just needs a little refinement.

I ordered a thai dish from the room serve menu and was not particularly impressed with the amount of food provided or the price. Best to get take away at the Mosque Cafe a short distance away from the hotel.

My husband and I had the taster menu and I can't rate it highly enough. Each course was beautifully presented and came with just the right interval in between. The staff couldn't have been nicer or friendlier which makes such a difference. They wanted us to enjoy ourselves and the food and this makes such a difference to the evening. The wine choices are very good and if you want a drink before dinner I would recommend a Blue Andy. Funnily enough the cocktail maker was actually called Andrew so we did have a joke about whether he was blue Andy or not! He definitely isn't because he was so friendly and obviously really enjoys his job.

I had already booked to stay so, during the 6 Nations with Scotland at home I was surprised to find I was the first to book the restaurant at a week's notice. "I need to be at the Theatre 100m away at 7.30, can I get a 3 course dinner from 6.00?" "Yes, no problem, thats plenty of time." Got in at 17.50 with 4 other people in the restaurant. 1 starter took 20 minutes, over 1 hour for mains, had to order dessert when mains arrived because of time pressure. Side orders failed to arrive. Staff agreed to not charge desserts but they (and one of the the missing side orders) appeared on the bill. Eventually sorted out but left with the feeling we weren't top of the considerations for the evening.

I recently ate in the a la carte restaurant of this hotel with my daughter. The amuse-bouche was a spoonful of belly pork, juicy and cooked to perfection. This was a very good indicator of what was to come. The service was very professional yet friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious.A superb evening!

Love this place, excellent selection of whisky and knowledge staff. The Scottish tapas is a real hit. Don't bother with the whisky experience, go to a proper distillery instead.

We had a lovely time at the Broughton for Sunday Roast. They were accommodating for our big group. The food was out of this world.
