The World's End in Edinburgh, City of

Booked a table for dinner and my wife booked the wrong time by mistake. The staff were brilliant and managed to find us a table even though the place was packed. Food and service was first class as well. Lovely friendly pub in a great location and would definitely recommend.

I came in at about 6:00pm on a Monday by myself wanting to eat but it was busy. I couldn't get a table in the restaurant area but bought a pint and a table came free in the bar area so I snagged it and ordered food. The steak and ale pie is beautiful and really filled a spot before a night of beer. I would happily eat here everyday if my body would let me.

Lovely place for lunch. Staff were amazing, friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Food was very tasty, drinks too!!

Me and my friends came in for some dinner. We did book a table in advance and I highly recommend to do it if you would like to eat. Staff were very friendly, food was delicious, beers are to die for. 10/10 would come back

Cozy place, good atmosphere and good food

We were recommended by a friend who's had a career in the drinks industry for over 30 yrs. We walked in and first impressions were not good, my wife asked if they served Decaf coffee...........no was the answer, a blunt no, ok, so do you serve Magnum, a Scottish whisky cream liquer, again just a blunt "No" came back. I ordered an IPA and my wife had a Baileys which when served came with no "Thank you" or in fact any words at all. Nice pub, rubbish staff, both people serving were not pleasant at all.

I was finishing my coffee when I arrived and the lady said it wasn’t allowed. From there we ordered “fresh” bread and scotch egg. While it was fine, they bothered picked up from market and served cold. I asked to have it warmed and they said too much trouble and would have to eat them refrigerated. Beer was fine but from a barrel and not a keg(warmer without carbonation). The fish and chips were soggy and just ok. Would not recommend. Probably our worst meal in Edinburgh.

We were made to feel very welcome and came back to this spot several times during our trip to Edinburgh. What great people!

Food tasted great and their service was friendly and helpful.

We popped in for a few drinks. Then, we decided to eat there. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and hot. We had the steak and ale pie, the world's end hamburger, and Mac and cheese. They were all very good. You probably want to make reservations. The seating in the restaurant is limited.

Great place to eat. Fantastic service. They were busy with no seating available but my server was able to squeeze me in. Food was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend. Cheers.

Cosy night for drinks with friends. Bar staff very friendly. We met a couple from Windsor who were visiting Edinburgh. We had a lovely chat and much enjoyed their company. Good beer which is always good for me as the only beer drinker. Great night

Seems like a good bar. But website says kitchen closes at 8. Went there at 7pm. No food served. I had to go somewhere else. Very crowded as well, which is normal on the Royal Mile. Too bad, couldn't really taste anything there.

In addition, they are very loving towards dogs. Water and snacks for the four-legged friends are available. With an extra blanket and if you ask in advance, you can place your dog so that it is not in the way. Thank you for that

Absolutely disappointed in the service received today. Me and my friend were going to dine in and waited for the kitchen to start up- they said that there was only one cook in so it was going to be slow. We originally spoke to a nice man who told us not to worry that we would get a seat inside. A woman then seated a family who arrived after us. When we asked this woman how long it was going to be as we were there and spoke to someone else first she was incredibly rude and condescending. Her tone, attitude and demeanour was not apologetic or even friendly/reassuring. She acted like it was our fault we spoke to the male worker and not her and that it wasn’t clearly a communication issue within the restaurant? I’ve worked in the service industry and typically have loads of compassion for servers/bartenders but she lacked the basic common decency and respect you should be providing your customers.

Just in for a drink... Not food

Very cool atmosphere at The World’s End. We enjoyed a rainy day pint while in between places in Edinburgh. Snuggled into a corner booth and enjoyed our time.

The best haggis!!! The pea cream with mint is delicious!! But in general everything we ordered was spectacular. The staff very very friendly. The pub is incredibly pretty, nostalgia for a bygone era. At the exit on the ground are the marks of the old medieval wall. It was considered the end of the world!!! Must visit ❤️🌎

Great, historic little pub. We were on our way to another pub, and are glad that we stopped here instead. The food was really good. The crab pot, Beyond burger and mussels were delicious. Pricing is competitive and the staff is friendly, attentive and happy.

It's a very small restaurant. If you want to go out to eat, you should reserve online a day in advance otherwise you won't get a seat! The food is also very good!

Very nice pub! We had lunch there and the service was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Allergies are no problem at all, they have very useful documentation. Toilets were fine. Good beer, also their "own Guinness" was very good! All in all, enjoyed it very much!

Nos alojamos relativamente cerca, y nos decidimos a ir. Nos sentamos a las 20:30 y los camareros (una chica y un chico muy desagradables) nos ignoraron literalmente durante 15 minutos y eso que intentamos llamarlos en repetidas ocasiones, incluso se pusieron a comer un helado. Finalmente se nos acercó la chica y con cara de pocos amigos, nos dijo q la cocina cerraba a las 21 y ya no podían atendernos. Evidentemente nos fuimos (a The Whiski bar x cierto y de maravilla, con música en directo) y nunca volveremos. Estuvimos ojeando el menú y es bastante caro x cierto. Sitio no recomendable!!

This was the post-performance haunt for my friend and her crew. We stopped here for the "wrap party." I think we missed last call, but they served us anyway. I finished half my cider before we had to leave. Why do pubs have carpets?

We received the recommendation to visit this family friendly place, however we were welcomed with a crowded place and a hostess and the entrance yelling at us that no kids were allowed.

The place is an authentic Scottish pub, however the service was terrible, to such a degree that we left the place.

Clearly, the history goes with the place - and the drinks. However, it could be “cleaner”.

Pretty good food with honorable mention for the sticky toffee pudding I've tried in several places but this was the best. Unfortunately approximate service, it took us a while to get the waitress to calculate just to sit down, considering that they didn't accept reservations and the free seats were semi-non-existent, it was a problem. I would reevaluate the policy of not taking reservations during the Fringe Festival because it makes no sense.

I had this pub pointed out for our visit to Edinburgh, it is one of the most famous and oldest. I recommend making a reservation on their website since it is quite small and usually very busy. The food was delicious, we ordered Haggis fritters to share which were delicious, the traditional fish and chips and the legendary chicken wings with Korean sauce, everything was spectacular! In addition, the waitress was super friendly to us and guided us when it came to ordering. Without a doubt, if you are passing through the city, it is a highly recommended place to have lunch or dinner, or even have a cool pint on its mini terrace.

We stopped by this tourist trap because of the story and good food. They have a great selection of beers, many on tap. It was crowded with tourists. A rather funky place but we loved it! My wife has the meat pie and I the fish and chips. Both were very good. had to get a t-shirt to take home as well.

Beautiful inside. But the time indicated is misleading. The kitchens close in the early afternoon and in the evening you can only drink, like in practically every Scottish pub. Sin. Because the environment is truly beautiful

Great place for a drink on the busy royal mile

This little pub has a cozy air with a welcoming staff. We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed the daily specials of Haggis Fritters (you gotta try them), Scottish Mussels and the stand-alone Mac and cheese.

We had a lovely stay! Our room was comfy, clean and we had service every day. The breakfast and service was nice and fast. I would highly recommend this hotel. Namely Manika Biswas she is very kind host.

Robbed by the staff pid for chips gave a £10 not gives me change of. Five. Rude beyond believe, a customer that I don’t know agreed with me I gave a £10 note Refuse to give me my change so 5 of us walked out never go there again Real management issues there.

Small pub with a nice atmosphere, packed with tourists. Solid selection of beers on tap. The world's end best bitter was ok, the sticky toffee pudding was excellent and the pear frangipane was ok. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Came here during a celebration for a graduation. We sat at the bar as there were no seats available, however whilst ordering our second round of drinks one persons in our party was refused to order another drink. This was daytime and the second place we had been too, was quite disappointed as nobody in the party were out of order or drunk or anything! Wouldn’t be back again

Beer is a bit pricy and limited draught selection. Tight quarters in here even with moderate attendance. Overall, it is a neat spot for a pint.

Caught a game here and it was an amazing time! It was really crowded but I could tell everyone was well served and were being taken care of. Definitely support them if you’re in the area — it’s also a cool place where the world as they knew it used to “end”.

Food was excellent; my partner got the worlds end burger and was full for a solid 12 hours afterwards. The Mac and cheese was delicious, and the drink selection was great. The pub was quite busy but our server was prompt and friendly, and he did a great job managing the not-so-friendly tourists!

Excellent beer, directly produced by the local pub. I have a great experience from this pub.

The truth is that the fish at fish n chips is very good, and the potatoes, even though they are pre-cooked, are also sensational. Very delicious peas I really liked the chicken kyiv, very juicy and good batter, not at all sticky. The pear dessert maybe a little heavy. You can tip whatever you want, it is not already added to you.

Went in and didn't get served. Was at a No Service Area but was at only free area of the bar where there was no queue. Refused service with no queue. Group of 5 of us were really bemused 😅

Lovely fish and chips, and the best sticky toffee pudding we had on our trip. We were delighted that they took reservations seriously. The pub has a wonderful old world atmosphere. There are many pubs to choose from on the Royal Mile, and we're glad we chose The World's End. Reservations recommended, at least in June.

One of the places I liked when I visited Edinburgh. They have a delicious cider, the pea and mint soup is perfect for when it's cold and my boy said the fish and chips were very delicious. The atmosphere is great, a little dark and the music is good. Those who serve are very friendly and the waiting time for what you ordered to arrive is short. Of course, arrive early because otherwise you won't find a place. It is advisable to reserve in advance. It is an emblematic site due to history that I recommend visiting.

This place is steeped in history. It offers an odd but reasonable selection of beers, and good whiskies. It's a bit charmless these days with modern pub logistics, but worth a visit for a nip and a half.
