OK,no food service on all 3 evenings visited..disappointing.

Not very happy bar staff, all tables were reserved and we even got moaned at for sitting at a reserved table half an hour before the reservation time.

Came in a quite Friday afternoon.. lovely spot, nice food, nice Guinness.

What we ordered was ok, but half of the menu wasn’t available, so I don’t really know how good or bad was the food we wanted. Ambience could be warmer if closing the door in winter. Music was heavy metal, not my preferred for dinner.

My friend and I ordered non-alcoholic drinks at the bar. The woman serving us was extremely rude, crossed her arms at my friend and I whilst we were politely ordering - and did not assist with the questions we had. My friend wanted to get a mocktail and simply asked if she could swap the flavoured soda for a different flavour in her drink - the woman said no, even though it was a very easy request. I ordered the strawberry spritz mocktail that was meant to have strawberries and blood orange soda. The woman made me a drink with grapefruit soda and no strawberries. Seemed like she didn’t even know the menu, and was looking down on us for ordering non alcoholic drinks. She handed it to me and just walked away out of the bar without a single word, so I had no time to say she did not make me the drink I ordered. We were pretty shocked by her rudeness, and felt it was unfair to pay for a drink I did not even ask for. Edit: other staff were lovely and we’ve enjoyed our other times at festival, just was a shame to have this experience this time.

Great place, very cosy and nice. Has a great outdoor space covered from the wind.

My partner and i decided after being at the xmas festival on princess street to go in for a drink on the way to our hotel to end a nice evening , when entering, the bar staff were staring at us because my partner stumbled a bit , he is very unsteady on his feet and legs due to nerve damage , we were questioned by staff at the counter and then told we wont be served , not tonight , i was very disgusted as they just refused any exlanations , wont be visiting again , there pub was quite empty , i wonder why ....

Staff refused to change channel from Cartoon Network, at 10pm on a Saturday night.

Staff looked down on us for no reason. Asked to changed the channel and was met with “the company only allows us to put on some games” which is a blatant lie. Read on the website “you’ll never miss a match, fight or contest regardless of which broadcaster is showing” which left me disappointed as we watched Cartoon Network for an hour after 4 people had asked to change to sky sports. Always been left satisfied with this pub but this experience of rude and hostile staff has put me off.

Atmosphere was fine. Extremely rude bar staff insisted on watching Cartoon Network on a Saturday night instead of putting any sports on. Any request of changing channel was met with hostility and eye rolls. Would not visit here again.

I called to reserve a table and asked if they had food. Yes, great. Arriving there I discovered that half of the menu wasn’t available. And by the way, anything else would take a long time to prepare. Had to leave and find another pub to have dinner.

Scampi was very good. For heavy metal lover!!

Was a bit loud as the football was on so we couldn't have a talk as the TV was too loud

One of the best pubs we went to – amazing vegan burger cooked to perfection and the vegan chili was unreal. Really cute place with amazing food, highly recommend coming here during your stay in Edinburgh.

After spending hours deciding which pub to sit at, we finally sat here and had a really enjoyable time, the food, the beer, the music, the atmosphere, everything was great.

Lady behind bar was great , cocktails average , clientele mixed and not friendly so for me lacked atmosphere but pregnant barmaid was friendly and on the ball

Great spot on our stay near our hotel, was looking forward to watch dortmund/psg so ordered food and drinks, Andy and Emily were super friendly, food was actually very good bar the bao buns (not really bao buns, very dry) loads of chips but Andy's choice of music was a tad too much for me :) overall great spot !!

Traditional pub with a very friendly staff. Unfortunately, the kitchen is closed on Sunday, but the staff was willing to offer suggestions of where to eat.

I've not been here since for a very long time, I heard they brought the jukebox from the black bull, and they've brought a lot of character with them. It's a really nice bar with lovely staff, great food and a decent selection of drinks. Definitely would recommend within the area of Lothian Road/Fountainbridge!

Nice bar and great food but I was very disappointed in the Greene King app which showed loads of choice for drinks on tap and they hardly had any of them

Great bar we were made to feel so welcome. Aisling, Elena, Kailee were so attentive and made night great. Jamie's food was fabulous. That and live music made the night. As a bonus after the live music a great jukebox

Popped into the Festival last week as I had heard good things from friends. Brilliant right off the bat - bright and airy, loads of different seats to choose from and a really welcoming vibe. The person working greeted me & I got served quickly. She made sure to ask my preferences for my drink and was chatty while the card machine had a bit of a moment! I think her name was Emily. Picked my seat and enjoyed my drink with the fantastic music from the jukebox in the background and WWE on the tv. I was heading out for dinner so didn’t try the food but had a browse and it looks decent. Will definitely be back once it’s warmer to test out the beer garden. It’s dog friendly as well so a few of my friends will love that.

I wish I'd taken a picture of the salad. The tiniest portion with the tiniest bit of chicken on top, which you had to pay extra for, and stale vegetables especially the cucumber. Shocking that I paid 16 pounds for that, it's disgraceful

Lovely bar, beautiful and simple interior with the best side salad. Vegan and Vegetarian craving some greens, pleasantly surprised with salad alongside the standard order or Chips/fries. Great drinks and friendly bartender. Live music on the weekend.

Great evening watching the football with work colleagues. Fab service from Jamie and Emily, made us feel most welcome. Will come back.

Well, brace yourselves for a comedy of errors at The Festival Bar – the place where mediocrity is celebrated and disappointment is served on tap! Stepping in for a post-work pint, we were greeted by the sight of a 19-year-old manager, who seemed more interested in composing her next TikTok masterpiece than acknowledging our existence. Kudos to Greene King for entrusting the managerial reins to someone barely out of high school! After enduring the manager's texting symphony, we finally managed to snag some drinks, only to find that the lagers were as yeasty as an abandoned bread factory. Did we receive any offers for replacements? Not a chance! With each sip, it felt like we were embarking on a journey through the depths of bad brewing, with no escape in sight. To add insult to injury, the pub's ambiance screamed "trying too hard with too little effort." It was like witnessing a sheep in shabby chic clothing – utterly unconvincing. And don't even get me started on the beer selection – or lack thereof. If you're into dives that redefine the term "dive," then congratulations, The Festival Bar awaits your patronage. But if you're seeking a semblance of quality and camaraderie, well, you're better off chatting up the tumbleweeds in a ghost town. In summary, The Festival Bar is the epitome of disappointment, where even the rats would turn up their noses at the swill masquerading as beer. Save yourself the trouble and head elsewhere for a decent pint and a laugh – preferably somewhere with a managerial team old enough to legally order a drink themselves!

Chill pub in tollcross I found and decided to stop in by, really lovely food and great pints with excellent service! Would strongly recommend!!

Lovely little pub with amazing food (especially the hubters chicken, definitely recommend) the chef was in training, if that's what he cooks while in training then wow, when he's trained he will be fab. Lovely bar staff too and the overall vibe was relaxing and country.

I’ve been here a few times with friends just for drinks and it was really nice! But we went here for some drinks again and decided to get some food. The food we got was so disappointing, especially for the price we paid for it. The amount of food we got was tiny, and the actually quality of the food was terrible. It was later in the evening so it might just be the chef was tired, but it really made us rethink coming here again.

Came in for a drink & bite to eat before a show at the Usher Hall. Staff couldn’t have been friendly, food was absolutely fantastic, great selection of items! Will definitely be returning soon!

Looked online, good reviews, turned up paid £12 for a beer and a shandy, chef was in ( he'd been on phone outside) but dismissed barman's request for food. Left and went to Wetherspoons....

I visited today and was greeted by the most wonderful bar staff! Great experience and great drinks! While I was at the bar, a customer was being unbelievably rude to the staff and was demanding a wine they did not have. The supervisor was (unnecessarily) extremely polite and gave the customer multiple alternatives. Bringing out all the wine they had. And was overall super helpful. The situation was handled professionally and calmly, I had to comment about it. I was really impressed with the amount of restraint 😂 Will be back soon!

Our first restaurant in Scotland. We were wandering the streets of Edinburgh when we came upon this place. Looked inviting so walked in and were seated right away. We ordered some wine and a plate of hummus and flatbread and some fish and chips. All food was very good and our waiter was very engaging and gave us a lot of valuable info on the city. Enjoyable and would definitely go back.

Wonderful place and amazing people, shout out to Liam especially. Babylon is a drink to try!

i have visited the festival many times and have a great experience every visit. All the staff are super friendly and accommodating. Liam and Naomi in particular are always so friendly and always up for a chat, it’s so lovely to sit and have a drink and see higher members or staff taking the time to train others and be patient while still maintaining great service for the customers. The food is always good, atmosphere is nice, good vibes all around!:)) Highly recommended !!!

Great place and staff, apart from the assistant manager who is a pure plum. 2 stars deducted for this. Do yourself a favour and get rid of this condescending unhelpful horrible little so called hospitality provider. Rest of the staff 10/10.

This is a nice pub for a drink. It is cozy and it can potentially have nice atmosphere. If you are looking for food stay away. Unfortunately I had lunch there with our work team. It took more than an hour to get served although we were the first people there and the food was extremely poor. Very disappointing. It gets two stars because the staff was polite and friendly.

Fairly standard modern city centre pub

Been here the other day as I was walking down from Haymarket into town stoped by for a few drinks. The place has a cool vibe and upon speaking to one of the staff members he told me that the garden will be opening soon and sold the vision of it to me seems legit

This bar has such a fresh vibe ! Little hidden gem on the edge of the city centre. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. The cocktails alone where enough to visit this place again

Came here for a meal after watching a movie in odeon ended up staying a for a few cocktails due to the staff being polite from the start to finish. We got greated at the door after the food came out they made sure that everything was okay at our table and while having a chat they showed us there newest cocktail menu and we decided to try a couple and ended up loving it here will be coming back

Nice decor but quite bad service Not a complete experience as it wasn’t busy and still quite difficult to out the order in. Trio of fries were really bad, oily and some tasteless sauces thrown on the fries plus a dirty plate underneath.

Went for a birthday dinner very poor service and they didn’t try make the occasion special staff seem very inexperienced and could hear chef arguing with staff in the kitchen allow children in but no kids menu first time going and last time best part was door out.

Out of everything for food on Sunday! The staff look so confused and was not busy! In the end we ask what do you have available in the kitchen! So we order just 3 plate share! In the end is a Green king company pub! What do you expect???

Lovely pub very clean but the lad who served me looked like he was forced to serve me. I even asked how his night was because looked rough in his university jumper. I just had a pint and left

We called in last weekend whilst on a visit to our son and his girlfriend in Edinburgh.really lovely friendly atmosphere, staff were so helpful and accommodating. We stayed longer than we had planned! Will definitely be back when we are next in Edinburgh
