Been quite alot to The Gait, we went for evening meal and wasn't disappointed. Sat in front area, lovely fire going. Nice atmosphere in pub. Good choice of real ales. Good menu and special board available. Had the partridge starter ,it was delicious. Main I choose the lamb rump and the rosemary and garlic gravy was so tasty. All your meals did not disappoint. Staff very friendly. Well worth a visit.

Second visit after we so enjoyed the first 18 months ago. Food was good, but confused for us if punching for a Michelin star. Menu very similar, if not the same for some courses. Large beetroot bread roll, no beetroot flavour but great bread… size large to start filling you up. Next 2 amuse bouche , starters v good. Roast beef main course, hearty and pleasant, but seems at odds as hearty as I say rather than michelin, plenty of local pubs do as good or better. Two desserts attempting to be back on michelin spectrum but too similar…. Just nothing stand out. This time we used a voucher, so rather resent having to pay a service charge then on its gift value, but we didn’t quibble. Drinks expensive, so for the total price of the meal and drinks we weren’t convinced this was value for money, would prefer to spend elsewhere, so may not return in the near future. Still a lovely setting.

Absolutely nothing to fault here. One of the best pub meals we have ever had. It was recommended by our Airbnb hosts and we are so pleased we tried it out. The Belly Pork and the Lamb Shank were both so well cooked, seasoned and served with ample sauce/gravy. The apple sponge pudding was so light and fluffy and the ‘special’ dessert of chocolate and brandy torte was perfect. The staff were welcoming, polite, professional and did everything to please. Well done, we may live 125 miles away but next time we visit York we will be back. Thank you.

Very impressed with the Kings arms in the small village of Sandhutton. It is slightly larger inside than the external photos suggest. Rooms are well furnished. It's nicely located with major roads and attractions no more than 45 minutes away. What raises the King's arms up a level though is the quality of the food in the restaurant which for a couple of dishes I was served was approaching a la carte level. A broad menu with delicious excellent quality food, well presented and decent measures. The chefs are excellent.

Very beautiful place. Staff so friendly and helpful. I spilt my wine before a sip. They immediately cleaned and gave me a free one. Making me feel comfortable and not embarrassed. Extensive drinks and food menu. Top quality food. Great ambiance. Would highly recommend.

The pub was warm and welcoming with a small but varied menu. I chose the vegetable hot pot (which was so delicious that the chef kindly gave me their recipe). It was great to see that all the seasonal vegetable side dishes were fresh. The sausages on the menu were fat and juicy, the fish and chips were crisp and plentiful. An excellent meal and great service. I will definitely visit again
