The best restaurants serving British food in Guildhall York Yorkshire and The Humber

Went for a late lunch on Sunday. I'll keep it short. If there's a better steak to be had in York, I've yet to find it. It's not, of course, the cheapest, you get what you pay for.

Tuvimos dos horas donde a mi hija se le permitió salir del hospital entre el tratamiento y el Comerciante de Queso era el único lugar al que quería ir. Estábamos bastante cerca de la hora de cierre, pero nos dieron la bienvenida y Camembert fue consumido (delicioso!!! ). Called in here just before Xmas - coffee was perfect! If you like your coffee, this is the place to go. We also sampled the fruit cake - equally delicious. I’ll definitely be visiting again.

Superb pub and shop. Great choice of beers and brilliant staff. Highly recommended. And so hello to Lucky!

The staff are wonderful and caring and they have the best fish and chips in York.

Stumbled across the hall while completing the York Cat Hunt. Highly recommend popping in 1) to see the hall 2) to have a lovely cuppa and a sit down.

Justo lo que quería 🙂 Visitó York hoy (25 / 01 / 2025 ) bastante imprevisto, última hora, sólo para un cambio de escenario. Fue tan difícil en York encontrar un lugar donde pudiera estar cómodo solo, había planeado leer mi libro, sin embargo, había algunos habituales allí que estaban hablando, y hablando conmigo, pero de cualquier manera, realmente disfruté de mi visita. No quería un café lleno de caos, así que este me sentó de maravilla. Lo bueno era delicioso y justo, la taza de té estaba golpeando. *Rara vez me aventuro desde mi casa a menos que sea para ir a trabajar, así que hoy fue uno nuevo para mí, pero una experiencia muy agradable. Completamente fuera de mi zona de confort hoy, pero la cafetería era brillante, recomendaría.

Unfortunately- MELK no longer exists well not at 12 Clifford street anyway so there is still a cafe there but it is called Drift. We just had a coffee as they didn't have any vegan cake or pastries. They did offer other vegan options such a breakfast but I wanted cake!

I go here regularly often 3/4 times a month. Good fresh fish and friendly staff. Upstairs is usually not warm recommend you eat downstairs. Service charge automatically added at 10% Nice food always consistent of recent times.

Beautiful restaurant, really thoughtful anniversary drink and different food that was very tasty. Would recommend!

I played two games of chess with one of the regulars, winning the first, but losing the second. Diplomatically, we kept it at that. However, it was the beginning of a long conversation with a whole host of lovely York people, laughing with nice music in the background and fresh pints strewn about. I would love to become a regular here.

Food was excellent, staff were friendly and pub had a great atmosphere. Particularly good if you have a nut allergy too as all menu items are nut free. However, only a 4 stars as it is greatly overpriced. 6 quid for a bottle of peroni and 19quid for a cheeseburger and chips was very steep. As i said, food was really good, but was easily a fiver overpriced
