Melk in York

Unfortunately- MELK no longer exists well not at 12 Clifford street anyway so there is still a cafe there but it is called Drift. We just had a coffee as they didn't have any vegan cake or pastries. They did offer other vegan options such a breakfast but I wanted cake!

Lovely little cafe with an incredibly good vegan biscoff latte - I don’t even like coffee that much but it was incredible. The vegan breakfast was really nice. A+ for good scrambled tofu! The highlight for me was the garlic spinach. Honestly the best spinach I’ve ever had, it was flavoured beautifully. The staff were lovely and the music was a nice highlight too! We initially popped in after our slot at York Dungeons was delayed, as it’s right opposite it, and after trying their delicious vegan bakery bits, we decided to come back for breakfast the next morning and it did not disappoint. They do some nice sounding non-vegan bits too, including the daim bar brookie that I took with me for the train as I’m vegetarian (it was so so good), but my partner who’s vegan was recommended the flapjack by one of the staff and she loved it. We will definitely go back next time we come to York! If you’re visiting the Jorvik Viking Centre or York Castle Museum, it’s barely a few minutes walk away. Or in the case of the Dungeons, about 20 seconds. Definitely give it a shot!!

I've been to Melk. a few times before and every time am greeted with a smile. Very friendly and helpful staff! I was sat by the window - a lovely bar table with beautiful sunshine, and enjoyed the most delicious English breakfast with a tea in such a pretty teapot! Tried hot chocolate too which was amazing and vegan! Definitely coming back again!

absolutely love this gorgeous space. Perfect for a solo coffee and cake stop, or to bring a friend along to! Staff are super friendly and welcoming too. One of my favourite spots in York ❤️

Melk offers a great range of drinks and cakes, meals and a very friendly staff team. Lovely bright cafe with delightful art. Well worth a visit.

This is my favourite cafe and my go to spot! They always have such tasty vegan options as well as amazing non vegan options for any of my friends that wanna come along. The bakes are insane and I’m pretty sure it’s the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had. Definitely worth walking to get a bit more peace compared to the busy chains right in the middle of town.

It is the best place ! Everything is so delicious! I would undoubtedly recommend it! It is a reason to return to York! :)

Gorgeous little cafe, Ellen & Jack super friendly. Warm and cosy atmosphere and food and drinks DELICIOUS. Chilled vibe. Definitely worth a visit.

after shopping at the designer outlet and jumping on the park and ride, we were ready for coffee and food. the all day breakfast was spot on. lovely atmosphere and friendly staff, will definitely return.

My wife and I stopped for lunch and had some scrumptious toasties. Nice selection and is all freshly made. Service was excellent and the food was tasty. The cake selection is not bad either. Reasonably central location in york but managed to get a space at a busy time.

7 of us visited for Sunday breakfast - not an easy task in York, but one of my daughters favourite places for cake. Service was excellent and the food just lovely, really good choice and really varied choice of drinks. We all had different and all very happy. Highly recommend

Looked a promising independent so appealed to myself & daughter. Menu on the door ticked the vegan box. Pleasant staff, and clean premises. Waitress gave us a menu, different to the one in the window. On enquiry vegan breakfast advertised not available. Ordered a chicken pasta salad that was on the menu - however not available despite it being 12 noon. Both went for focaccia, very basic, the warming process dried it out so not the best. Coffees were both good was the only highlight. Please don’t offer what isn’t available it’s put us off trying again

Melk's main outlet is the cafe on Clifford Street, but I visited their smaller desert outlet in the Spark box park for an espresso. The decor is nice, almost holiday like (especially in the summer sun). Had a double espresso, which was good.
