The best restaurants serving British food in Wakefield North Wakefield Yorkshire and The Humber

Lovely little cafe our friends recommended. Popped in for breakfast. Had the full works. Very clean, quick service and friendly.

Went to Wakefield for the first time as we visited the rhubarb festival. Looking around for somewhere to eat at lunchtime, came across the Iris restaurant which had a rhubarb themed set menu for two. Such a pleasant surprise. Welcoming staff, nice atmosphere and excellent food. If I return to Wakefield we will certainly look this place up again.

Have been here 3 times now and it's exceptional. Excellent food, service with a smile. I recommend it to everyone although, in doing so, may lengthen the queue but they are so good. Love them 💕

Stumbled into here whilst visiting the Rhubarb Festival and glad we did. Great to have so many veggie/pesce options. Really enjoyed our lunch and the rhubarb and cream cake was delicious 😋. We were unrushed even though the cafe was extremely busy and service was welcoming and friendly.

Brilliant looks course which is always well kept during the summer and winter. During the winter you will have to play off the matts which I don’t find to bad is it keeps the place looking tidy. When summer arrives the course does get harder as the rough and surrounding areas do overgrown and is impossible to find your ball. But on that I do love this course

Amazing choice of cakes. Vegan, gluten-free, scones brownies. The cakes swap regularly so there’s always something new to try!

Served by the lovely Natalie, battered my sausage to perfection; accompanied by fabulous chips topped with scraps. The fish is very fresh and tasty, all on all, well worth the visit to Ossett just to have fish and chips. I would give more stars if I could very much a satisfied customer 👍😊

Very good food at reasonable prices. Wide menu. Lots of regular customers. Plenty of space at clean tables. Separate ladies and gentlemen toilets Very clean. Ideal for a meal while on shopping trips. Unfortunately no car parking.

So, this is a wonderful pub. We've been coming here for more than 30 years. The inside is beautiful, atmospheric, historic, not to be missed. The beer is generally very good. So why only three stars? I'm afraid that one particular member of staff really shouldn't be working in a customer facing environment. I feel it's probably unfair to describe the person or specify the rudeness as maybe they were having a bad night, and I'll let other customers make up their own minds. However, for us, this person spoiled our evening somewhat and made us feel unwelcome. We did notice that it wasn't just us that encountered such behaviour, other customers experienced it as well. This person needs to reconsider their attitude, manners and approach to customer service. We will return for drinks at some point in the future, but if the rudeness happens again we'll take our custom elsewhere. Such an excellent pub deserves better.

Really nice traditional cafe with a large variety of choice. Food was really nice and clearly fresh and homemade and staff attentive and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again. Breakfast looks great will try that next time

I petite little coffee shop that lets you escape the hustle of people. I had a vanilla cortado and a cake. The cake was lovely, although a little sickly even for my sweet tooth. The coffee was amazing. I’m usually a Starbucks last but the creamy and smooth cortado was beautiful in flavour. Have visited several times since!
