Excellent staff and nice tasty food and drink good to socialise good and friendly staff and good selection of food with gluten free food as well

First time here. Found it by accident. Fantastic service and great home made food at very affordable prices. Place was buzzing on a Tuesday lunch. Will definitely be back.

Went here with wife, 3 year old and 80 year old mother. All had something different, all homemade and everything was delicious. It was all incredible value and the OAP deal out of this world. Lovely staff, really kind and friendly. Will definitely come here whenever in Wakefield. It's busy for a very good reason!

Can't recommend this cafe enough. It is a fabulous place. Fantastic staff and food. Great prices. Nothing is too much trouble. We will certainly be back!

Went for breakfast, it was busy as the rhubarb festival was on. Due to this I think they had decided to employ a few inexperienced staff to help with the rush. Unfortunately, I think they needed a bit more training. Just as one young waitress was putting my breakfast down in front of me, she wiped her nose with the back of her hand. I also saw the same waitress pick up someone’s toast from their plate whilst stood at their table and transfer it to another smaller plate (bare hands). Food was great, young staff needs a bit more training.

Enjoyed OAP lunch today, both me and my wife were very satisfied with the main/pudding for a reasonable price, we both said we will return. Service and staff were excellent.

Amazing food, brilliant price! Such a homely vibe with staff that were so lovely & polite to everyone who can in. FOOD - Highly recommend the breakfast but to be fair you can have anything on the menu at any time of the day, all looks decent. I had sausage beans and homemade chips and husband had large breakfast. Top portion sizes!! Chips were proper hand cut chunky chips! Fries are available but I’m glad I got the chips. Thank you Sarah, Aiden and rest of staff. A worthy Wakefield eatery, highly recommended. We will use again without hesitation when next the area. NB: I’m a right fusspot when it comes to food but menus great. Husband is never one to say if he thinks something is rubbish either…Cafe 19 left us feeling full, content and ready for the day. ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT - is that it’s not in our own home town.

Hot roast beef baguettes and the most amazing, proper chips. Everything lovely and hot. Proper home made coleslaw. Thank you.

Breakfast as a treat. Overall a good attempt at a full breakfast. Unfortunately let down but microwaved sausages that were excruciatingly hot inside , I have never experienced that cooking style and hope not to in the future. Also the mushrooms were cold , I would have mentioned that if asked at time but the staff were busy. Such a pity that two basic errors let down what would have been an acceptable breakfast.

Excellent friendly small family run cafe. Always have a main & desert when visiting. My favourite is steak pie full of tender steak pieces love the homemade cheesecakes and Jaffa cake, never been disappointed.

Just had a delivery in the main the food was ok but put on special requests these were not done and the children meat pie was in inedible with to much fat and grisly the pie crust was so soggy and the home made chips tasted really bad and burnt

Though we’d give this cafe a go for breakfast - it had some good reviews. I saw the ultimate on the menu and ordered it - it defeated me of course! 4x sausage, 4x bacon, 2x Spam, scrambled eggs, 2x fried bread, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, 2x black pudding, tea, 6x toast and chipped potatoes The food is decent enough- typical Full English breakfast fare. Nice and clean with friendly staff, the only down side is that it’s cash only - no card payments!

Overall the food was good, not quite spoons quality but not bad. What was disappointing was the lack of worcestershire sauce which I would expect any greasy spoon cafe to have

Came on a day trip as I had a day off work, being November I wanted something hot for lunch. 3 breakfast served hot unlike a lot of supermarket cafes. Nice thick bacon. Staff very friendly and new a lot of the locals,who went regularly, and you only go to somewhere regularly if the food is good. Had a wide variety of meals on the menu all reasonably priced.

I met up with friends at this cafe. Cafe looked very basic upon arrival. But my goodness what a lovely welcome we got. The menu is vast and as we are all eating healthy there was a vast menu for healthy choice meals. These were amazing. I had the vegetable lasagne and it was beautiful. The others had curry and chilli con care all from the healthy choice. Trust me don't let the front of this amazing cafe put you off. It's like been home from home. I will and my friends will definitely be returning.

I had breakfast with my husband recently as I am watching my weight I went for the healthy breakfast on the menu it says uses fry light for healthy options, when I went to the counter to order I asked if they used fry light as I couldn’t see any only a frying pan full of oil, the young girl went to ask and the woman said in a-nasty manner ..we don’t fry anything.. it was wasn’t friendly like the last we went and wondered if it had changed hands.. we won’t be going again .

A friend and I had a breakfast a few weeks ago and it was very good we got Talking to a customer who was having Pentioners roast beef dinner it looked really good loads of beef fresh veg and a free trifle Very different story today The potatoes were powder and water mix The cabbage had a funny taste The carrots some cooked some hard small amount of beef Shocked normally very good Wouldn't risk it again

This little cafe in the heart of the Merry City serves probably the finest (and healthiest) full English breakfasts I have ever had. Having been on a “diet” for the best part of a year, this cafe is a life-saver! There is always a healthy option on the menu and the menu itself is varied and exciting with something new to try most weeks. The owner, Sarah is not only a great cook but also a lovely person, helping out serving free meals to the homeless and offering her services to the community on a regular basis. The cafe has many regular visitors and you’d only have to speak to any one of them to find out why they come back time and time again. Great food, cooked fresh daily and served by genuinely lovely people. Highly recommended

After staying in a nearby hotel and checking trip advisor for breakfast this kept coming up so off we went to try it. We got 2large full English with coffee and it came to just 10pound the food was cooked fresh, hot plates and portion size was great the quality of the food did not disappoint either. The staff were all very welcoming and appeared to be having conversation with the elderly regulars which is always nice to see. This cafe also has an extensive healthy options menu ideal those on slimming world. If in Wakefield again this will be my first call for food.

I went here for breakfast after reading the reviews - the food (I went for the non-fried "healthy breakfast") was fine and good value, but the pervasive smell of stale rancid cooking fat would put me off of going again - and I managed to sit in front of the open door.

Stopped in for a breakfast treat. Didn't regret a minute of it. The food was simple and perfectly cooked. There are lots of healthy options on the menu which is not always the case in small cafes. Great service too.

Eating out whilst dieting and staying on plan has never been easier. The healthier options are low fat cooked without oil and they were really tasty and filling. This will be coming a regular place to eat when in the area.

El desayuno incluye café de los estados unidos, pedí un café expreso, pero se informó que sería un extra, así que pedí un café americano, de nuevo me dijeron que sería un extra de £1? ? Yo tenía un buffet preparado para la víspera de Navidad, opciones fantásticas, un montón de comida, fresco y sabroso. Entregado a mi puerta a tiempo, bien presentada y entregada por el dueño, no puedo recomendar lo suficiente, si buscas un buffet para cumpleaños, bodas o fiestas, este es el lugar para pedir, con una gran relación calidad-precio, que se ordene de nuevo desde aquí, muchas gracias.

Se pueden encontrar ridículo la cantidad de comida por £5. Bien preparado y decente componentes calidad, aunque salchichas eran ligeramente 'chips'. Se sirve en un plato Bonito, grande, rectangular y no una pizarra o tablero de ajedrez o cualquiera de basura. Frijoles también eran no en un recipiente sin sentido poco o animación. Que me iniciativa.

Soy alérgica a los huevos y generalmente esto significa que cuando he pedido un 'paquete' mi plato de desayuno parece básico y mediocre. Todas café 19 desayunos paquete incluía huevos, así que cuando me preguntó si podía crear mi propio desayuno no fue un problema. Esto significa que podría tener un desayuno completo y disfrutar de ella. El único inconveniente es la ventilación en el lugar no es genial, estuve allí una hora y mis ojos empezaron a corriente y todas las ventanas tenían al vapor.

the slimming world dishes are plentiful and super tasty there is no-where else like this for low fat/sugar meals but...

My husband and I went for breakfast here this morning having looked on trip advisor the night before. It was an impromptu visit on a rare weekend off together. The breakfast was amazing! We both had full English, mine was vegetarian. It's really rare to find a place that does a great veggie breakfast so I was chuffed. Great food, not at all greasy and it was all kept hot. Really good coffee too. Can't recommend this place highly enough. We will be back!

We found this cafe by chance looking for a place to have breakfast. It was bright, clean and really welcoming. The ladies were great and when the breakfast arrived it was hot and tasted fab.to find a real place where everyone takes a pride in what they do is so rare. Really would recommend giving this place a try.eat great and support a local business.

Visited here again and the food s always great, the service is always friendly and nothing is ever 2 much for the staff to do. Everyone is catered for here if on diets or fussy eaters we love this place!!!

What a little gem of a cafe this is. Friendly staff and a warm welcome every time. Wonderful food, the healthy options are a godsend. It can be hard to find any cafe that makes healthier meals and these guys really don't disappoint.

I have been to Cafe 19 a few times (either to eat in or eat out) and all the times, it was a pleasant experience. They cater to your every needs and the staff are so friendly.I will definitely keep going :)Also, their SW Pulled Pork jacket potatoes are to die for!

So after much consideration I decided to choose Cafe 19 to cater for my mum 60th birthday party - having never had food from Cafe 19 in the past I was holding out hope that the food was as good as most of the reviews lead you to believe...I was NOT dissappointed!!!!On speaking to Sarah (who I assume is the manager) I explained that I wanted to cater for approx 75 people, some of which are vegetarian. Sarah asked me what I wanted & suggested she do a variety of food including sandwches, quiche, samosas, bhajis, pasta etc...Anyway, the day of the party arrived & Sarah messaged to say that she had been to the venue & put the food out, when I got there I couldn't believe my eyes.The presentation of the food was superb, there was lots of it & on tasting it, I have to say it was delicious. I think I ate my own bodyweight in spring rolls & samosas - both of which I would highly recommend.My husbands family are Indian & they also loved the samosas (which is something to be said - trust me)I couldn't fault it one bit.Only thing I would suggest is that Cheesecake was probably the wring choice in dessert - possibly my own fault but I assumed it would come in separate portions (like what you get in the supermarket) but it was a full cake so was difficult to serve. If I ever organised an event in the future I would defo use Cafe 19 again & I intend to visit the Cafe for lunch in the very near future.A big thumbs up from me!!! :-)

Great staff, and a great location for a home cooked meal. They are friendly people and they make a great cup of coffee or something to fill you up nicely.I don't do diets much, but they also have "Healthy" offerings, for people counting the calories or doing the Slimming World thing.I would go back, and I would recommend this handy place to anyone visiting the city centre of Wakefield (it is close to the Trinity Walk and not far from The Ridings too) and what's more, it's not expensive!

Came here for lunch with a friend Very good delicious food and nice size portions for the price. The only thing we did not like was the smell of frying Don't think there was an extractor fan in the right place.

This is my third visit to cafe 19 and they never fail to surprise. The food gets better and the service is undoubtably the best in the area. I visit from down south and I wouldn't go anywhere else. This visit was breakfast but in the past I have also had lunch. The quality of food is of the highest quality and portion size cannot be faulted. The staff are both informative and friendly catering to their customers every need. Definitely the best cafe in the area and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Called today for lunch and had the best lunch yet an amazing Indian platter couldn't ask for more will definitely recommend this to friends and family and would have it again for a nice change

Went for lunch with my friend on Thursday ordered healthy lasagna but they had run out so opted for healthy breakfast two poached eggs three rashers of bacon beanze mushrooms fresh grilled tomatoes and two slices of toast it was all deliciouse and only £4 then finished off with a large dish of the best homemade rice pudding I have ever tasted this cafe is one of the homeliest cafes I have ever been to you are treated like family from to moment you enter to the moment you leave keep up the good work Sarah and the team

Ordered lunch for me and two employees and i have never felt so disappointed after opening our lunch to find chips nearly black, soggy and soaked in fat!! My panini was in a small container with coleslaw which had made the panini soggy and inedible. Really uphappy, never touched a bite it went straight in the bin!!

breakfast . ordered to collect due to weekend at work . big enough and all tasted great , 3 bacon ( only comment if I had to make one is I would cut off all visible fat before cooking to comply with some popular healthy eating plans) 2 poached eggs done to perfection . beans grilled tomato and granary toast ( no butter so can chose to have or not have ) excellent value for the £4.00 . will be using them again and again

Found cafe 19 on my travels, the place has great food with a huge £7.95 breakfast you will need to ask for two doggy bags, great price, great service, lovely people. What more do you want?

Called in for lunch after being impressed by the healthy eating options on the menu. I had the honeyed chilli chicken with a jacket potato and salad. Everything was tasty and fresh and the coleslaw was homemade rather than the usual white mush. My partner had homemade steak pie (you don't have to go for the healthy option!) which came with lots of fresh veg and the kind of chips my mum used to make - rare these days! Staff were friendly and efficient. The place is nicely decorated, loo clean, toys for kids. It cost us just over a tenner! Will go back to try the breakfast - which looked amazing. There were lots of options on the menu, including vegan meals. Lovely to find such good food at such a good price. Restored my faith in Shakey Wakey!

This Cafe is the only one I go in now when I go to wakefield. It's very friendly. Clean and very reasonably priced with great portion sizes and choice. They cater for a range of people' tastes.From oap's to healthy eaters or slimmers as well as a normal range of meals that could tempt anyone. All homemade and quality.

Called in here on a Saturday morning for breakfast having seen good reviews on here and Facebook. We weren't disappointed; the cafe is very clean and the decor fresh and homely. We ordered two full breakfasts with black pudding and spam - the suppliers hadn't sent any black pudding but someone went out to get some rather than leave us without (not often that happens in this day and age!).The breakfasts arrived and the plates were so hot the beans were stiil bubbling, much better than a cold or lukewarm plate where the food goes cold quickly.Staff are friendly and the prices reasonable. Will be back for another breakfast soon!

It's my first visit to cafe 19 and I truly can't believe how friendly all the staff was and the food was 110 percent I will never visit another cafe in Wakefield again

Had breakfast here plenty of times the food is delicious and always fresh. All ingredients are locally sourced and the staff are very friendly. I have been alone and with my partner and grandkids. Can't fault it one bit.

Cafe 19 did the buffet for my daughters christening last Sunday. The food was amazing! Excellent value for money and so much choice and variety of different foods. They are very accommodating and dealt with all my questions and queries promptly. All my guests remarked on the food and my family love their food! Would not hesitate to use cafe 19 for any future event and can't recommend them enough. Really pleased with the whole package, thankyou!! Xx

This cafe is the best in Wakefield for food they have also given us good service on catering for one wedding a birthday party outstanding food everyone enjoyed themselves and we passed Sarah's number on to guests as they were very impressed so a big thank you to cafe 19 and all the staff that make it a pleasure to come in for a meal or a coffee and a chat

I don't get into the town centre much during the daytime, but when I do I love this cafe. The food is fantastic and so very well cooked. The specials board has an array of various meals and we usually choose from there. The owners and staff are wonderful and we always leave the place smiling. It's a gift to have a place like this.....simply unbeatable in my view!

the food is fantastic, all home made and I have never had anything that wasn't nice. the breakfasts are really good and all different sizes available. The Sunday Lunches are to die for everything homemade and fresh. I would recommend this place to anyone, it is really friendly and the staff are great.

Great food great staff very friendly Always have a great meal wether it is a breakfast or lunch it is always good , and they also do food for you to take out if required, call in and and see for yourselves, you won't be disappointed.

We go here on a regular basis with a group of disabled young people ,staff always approach them and welcome them in, making sure there is space for wheelchairs and making space if not. Staff are always very chatty and friendly getting to know customers on a personal level. The cafe accommodate for various dietary needs. The food is amazing and always have clean plates sent back into the kitchen from us. Come here on a regular basis and will return again and again.

We have eaten at Café 19 on numerous occasions and have always found the staff very friendly and more importantly the food is always A1,you can even get healthy options to many meals.

Discovered this little gem after being told they do slimmingworld friendly meals. Been a couple of times now and have not been disappointed. Took my mum last time and they do a fab value oap meal deal, 2 courses and a cuppa for a fiver, portion sizes are great and the food is always red hot

After a recent visit to café 19, I have to say the new premises are looking amazing with it's Homley, shabby chic look. Myself and my partner called for brunch. The food was amazing as always and the staff are always friendly. If your looking for good wholesome food, value for money and friendly service - café 19 is the place to be. I Cannot recommend it enough...!!

This is my second visit to café 19. The first time was last week. Staff are really friendly and the food is really excellent. Plus thay do healthy meals. I would recommend a visit to café 19.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions and have always been made to feel very welcome. The portions are generous and very reasonably priced. Our 3 year old enjoys the children's menu while my partner tends to get the breakfast which is always good. I tend to pick from the specials menu and these are always well cooked and very tasty. By far and away our favourite cafe in town.

Great place, needed to grab something quick fab quiche salad and loads I was stuffed. Prices are so competitive and much cheaper than alternatives in Wakefield.

I went here with my little girl whilst I was waiting for my car to be serviced. The staff were really friendly and extremely accommodating. My little girl has food allergies and the staf ensured everything was OK for her. My daughter had a cheese toastie(which she said was delicious) and I had the steak pie with home made chips and gravy. It was honest good traditional food, and was a decent sized portion as well. The café obviously has regulars as the staff knew them by name, the other customers were also extremely friendly. I would recommend a visit if you are in Wakefield at breakfast or lunch time.

Cafe19 has moved to bigger premises and wow. Called in the new place for a breakfast and it is so clean and well run. The food was excellent as usual the staff are all welcoming from entering the cafe. If anyone that's in Wakefield and are wanting home cooked fresh food well this is the cafe to go to.

The picture of Cafe 19 is out of date. The business has moved a couple of hundred yards up The Springs.From the moment you walk in it is evident that this is a family run, friendly cafe. All I ask of such a place is that in addition to the usual cafe fare of all day breakfasts, a variety of sandwiches, jacket potatoes etc. they offer a few specials. Cafe 19 does and I would be more than happy to sample all of them. I did sample the homemade steak pie and chips and I was served exactly that; a pie one of the staff had made themselves, not some frozen concoction of dubious provenance. The chips were hand cut and deep-fried, none of your oven chips or crinkly cut frozen here. I also got a little jug of gravy which went well with the pie, was just the right thickness and was not at all salty. Now reader, before you say, “so what” ask yourself how many places simply can't get a meal like this right or do so and charge you well over the odds for the privilege!I have every admiration for establishments that serve simple food, made and cooked by the staff. Food which stands by its own tastiness without frills and furbelows.If the proprietor reads this I would be interested to know about provenance of the bacon and sausage served.Irrespective of that and not wishing to overuse a famous quote, in the words of those furry dudes, “We'll be back!”

When it was in the small premises I went there quite a few times we would go after swimming on a Wednesday with my nephew and I would have the large breakfast which is good value for money staff was very friendly very clean and always quick services they do a good selection on the menu. The decor in the cafe was very good to.So when they said they was moving I thought it might change.I have been in the new premises and it's very nice and good decor to more room not had food there yet just a coffee but I do plan on trying the food there again I should imagine it will be just as good as it was.

Visited with my Dad for breakfast after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. Parked outside old shop (the new larger cafe is just up the street). Lovely decor, warm atmosphere, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Dad had a Belly Buster breakfast (he couldn't finish it) and I had a healthy breakfast, with everything grilled and granary toast. The young man who served us was attentive and funny, quickly making us feel at home. It was also his birthday. Excellent value £11 for two breakfasts and two large mugs of tea, would definitely recommend it...oh and Happy Birthday!

After hearing brilliant things about Cafe 19 we decided to try it. I was with 2 colleagues and 4 gentlemen that I support. When we arrived it was really busy and every table was taken. We went in to ask if they could accommodate 6 people and a wheelchair. Staff were really friendly and said if we were willing to wait they would extend the table for us. Defiantly worth the wait the food was amazing and the service was fantastic. All the food was hot home cook and the healthy options were actually healthy. I had a marinaded chicken on spicy rice with salad and home made healthy coleslaw. I have told everyone about it since and advised people to try it. The atmosphere in there was great staff and customers making it a lovely place to eat. Will not hesitate to go again x
