Very popular village pub alongside an open green heath. Fairly plain on the outside, but the inside offers an intrigue of dark walled rooms and corridors that are magical. Stepping back in time, this pub has a good selection of beers and friendly staff. It's history is proudly available to read in a prepared folder. Seating inside, including a conservatory, and outside in the garden. Friendly staff and fellow customers. Food is available in the Thai restaurant next door, which is also reached through a corridor from inside the pub.

This has to be one of the best pubs if not the best pub in the Wakefield area The bar staff never forget you they are friendly the pub is lovely and clean the bar is really cosy the outside area is just stunning with great views the hand pumped ale is always tip top I drink there at least once a week the food well it has changed somewhat In the last year the old style pub food with a twist was 100% the new just thai is also up there the sweet chilli chicken and salt and pepper chips is soooo good prices the drinks are very reasonable and always top quality the food we've had Sunday lunch this was value for money and the beef was just melt in the mouth now to the sweet chilli chicken this has to be just about the best along with the chicken satay and the bbq belly pork as you can see we are going to work through the menu. The only thing I can Diss is the sweet it was disappointing after such a really good meal and a little expensive for what it was sorry

Great local pub, Grade II listed building, lovely view and surroundings. Good walks around the area and dogs also allowed in certain rooms. Seating available inside and out. Good selection of drinks available (Ossett Brewery), restaurant now open, Thai on the Heath, great menu. Quiz nights are now back on, every Tuesday night at 8pm with complimentary food. Check Facebook page for prize(s). Live music 'common folk' during summer, check Facebook page for details.

Haven’t been here for a long time and it’s changed completely! Gone is the wholesome pub food; instead, there’s a newish arrangement between a Thai restaurant and the Osset brewery running the pub. Beer is still great (Osset beers usually are), and staff very helpful and friendly, but the non-Thai food is disappointing. Standards are slipping everywhere these days and the Kings Arms is no exception.

We’ve come here previously for a roast when been visiting family, but pleasantly surprised since our last trip to find they now have a Thai restaurant. The Thai bit is a separate part of the pub we sat in, unsure if you can order it and still sit in the main pub or not. The food was really authentic and up there with some of the best Thai food we have had! Mixed starter was a good option, with really fragrant fish cakes. We had someone in our party with an allergy and they handled that really well with clear details on allergens in foods and what to avoid. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

Love this pub, but have not rated here since Thai menu was introduced so was not sure what to expect. As I'm lactose intolerant I usually check out the vegan options when out, even though I eat meat, as I know they will be lactose free, and was delighted to see all the sauce options here are vegan, (therefore I assume, lactose free) so I could have sauce I knew wouldn't give me stomach ache, but with meat of my choice, if I wanted it! The waitress was extremely helpful talking me through the vegan ( lactose free) sweet options too- for another day, as we were way too full for pudding , having been extravagant and ordered wonderful mixed starter as well as and Thai green curry with salt and pepper chips, as we were celebrating a birthday. The lady who served our drinks took time to top up our fizzy drinks to the brim, rather than giving us glasses that were only full by time fizz had settled, as some places do! Beautifully tasty and filling food, top service, top venue. Well done Kings Arms.👍👍👍

A superb, traditional and historic pub with low ceilings and lots of character. There is also a peaceful beer garden and bright conservatory at the back. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was freshly cooked, generously portioned and very good quality. We had the Sunday roast and a Thai dish which were both excellent. This is so much better than the many chain pubs nearby and well worth seeking out either for a craft beer and/or an excellent meal

Just Thai - The food was good, and ready quickly. Probably a little on the expensive side, but that's only cos I'm used to burgers n chips at the local, Wednesday night after biking, there's a few people in the pub eating and drinking, it was just ok, a bit of music would have helped liven the place up.

Visited on Sunday 11th Feb for Sunday lunch. 4 in party. One opted for Thai food. Three of us had the Sunday roast option. Larger roast potatoes were RAW in two of the lunches. Mashed potato tasted tired. Veg undercooked. Side dish of cauliflower cheese tasted nothing like cauliflower cheese. Meat for those who had Sunday Roasts was perfectly acceptable. Prawns in Thai dish were not cooked and probably responsible for the person being ill shortly after consuming them. We were not approached for feedback during meal and made appropriate observations when it came to paying bill. Manager was very helpful. We won't eat there again but as the beer was excellent we'll go back for a drink.

We have been to the kings arms previously for Sunday lunch and recently booked with our children and parents. It has changed to a Thai restaurant with a Sunday roast dinner option. We all ordered Sunday dinners, 2 pork, 3 trio and one roast. During our dinner the power went out and we spent about 15 min eating in the dark. My roast beef tasted rotten, like it was off, and inedible. I had the trio so I was still able to enjoy my meal with the rest of the family, my mother in law also commented on the taste of the beef as tasting funny. When mentioned to the server she got her manager/cook? Who sniffed the meat and didn’t really offer any explanation or resolution. We can only assume that the meat had been cooked, let to go cold and reheated. Now for £17.50 for the trio and £2 for extra gravy, £4 for a few pieces of cauliflower cheese, you would expect a decent Sunday lunch. I understand that errors happen, but the lack of ownership was sad. We were offered dessert which we didn’t really fancy as I was kind of put off after how bad the meat tasted, then 2 pound off- Not really acceptable. The manager/chef was really argumentative when my husband asked for the meal to be taken off. In the end 2 meals were taken off, which we appreciate but it would have been nicer to have that offered in the first place. Maybe it should just offer Thai food, as it seems that is what they mainly offer. Thai food and decor in a beautiful, traditional pub was just odd.

Lovely pub. Indoors is traditional (small and quirky rooms) but great outdoor space with great service (we didn't have to wait to order drinks - we got asked frequently). Menu is limited but the food is good (although nothing special). Lots of places to sit outside now they have benches on the common 👍Edit : Ate in their Thai restaurant today and the service was poor. Nobody asked if we wanted more drinks (we did but didn't get any). Asked for the bill and waited 10 minutes to get it and then had to take the bill to the bar to pay it as nobody came back to the table to take payment. Two waiting staff with 16 covers - they should have been on top of things but inexperienced staff resulted in poor service. Food was very good, spoilt by the service. Very well priced though (cheap).

Just called by this public house for a drink outside on a glorious sunny day , my friend did the honours and bought the drinks , I stayed outside. He says it was like walking into a time capsule, it still had its original fixtures and fittings , including gas lights ( but not working ) I think. The beer was nice and cold , there was outside seating at the front of the pub ,overlooking the very small village of Heath , in the Wakefield district of West Yorkshire. The views from this location face south west to north west so on a clear sunny day you can watch the sunset along the Pennines, with the town of Wakefield in the foreground and the Pennine towns and villages (eg. Emily Moor TV mast) in the back ground sky. The pub has a round " Star of David" window at the front. It's a beautiful stone built building, as are all the other buildings in Heath . Heath common to give it , it's proper title, is very ancient and common grazing rights are still used, there are quite a few horses on long tethered lines. It's just the place to sit or walk around and take in the wonderful views , with the option to go for a drink. I love visiting this area and recommend.
