Okay pub, bit rough round the edges but it's a decent place and food is always nice. We meet friends here and have been going for a while. I'd go again. Young ones will like the Little soft play area etc...

Can't say too much as I didn't eat. But that was due to the fact the service was very slow. I was in a queue for the bar, and it took an average of 4 minutes per order. It took me 12 minutes to be served and when I was it wasn't the most welcoming service, more like robotic and unpersonal. I'm not sure I would have liked to order food either as the menu wasn't too exciting. It looks like a menu I'd find from the early 00s. The toilets only have one good flush in them, after this you need to wait a good 15 minutes for another decent flush. I had someone's recycled lunch leftover when I used said facility... I may be being harsh as this is after all linked to the Premier inn next door. But I do think it's about time whitbred need to reevaluate and update. Order via app service? Be more like beefeater? I will just add that this review isn't just linked to this place, it also applies to my local brewers fayre in Ashby too. But, with all I've said, the staff were pretty helpful and kind. Maybe I'm expecting too much from a place that's meant for convenience. Edit: I would like to say that the facilities for the kids are impeccable, they have an indoor and outdoor play park. Very big and very clean. Another edit: through no fault of their own, the whole outside of Knottingley smells like URM! The glass factory down the road!

It's been quite some time since I had breakfast here and overall the experience was just the same. Welcomed with a smile, good basic cooked breakfast buffet and a reasonable selection from the continental buffet. Like that you can ask for poached eggs to be freshly prepared too.

First time here, lovely welcome friendly staff ,very surprised how nice the food was ad it was very cheap!

Had voucherfor 30% of main meals so very good value. I had rump steak cooked medium rare and it was perfect. Better than more expensive eaters. All staff friendly. Ate out side and tables all clean .

Did exactly what it said on the tin. We had our evening meal here whilst stopping at the adjacent Premier Inn.

Only went once,steak pie was a generic soggy mass produced one,what peas were there were cold,and the chips were poor . Not for me

We enjoy coming here, cheap and cheerful food. Lovely staff, kids love Holly, Kit, Hannah Stayci and Luke are always welcoming and friendly, the kids love seeing them when they're on.

The staff are very welcoming, pleasant and attend to your individual needs. The staff, Holly, Hannah, Kiera, Ben, Stacey, Elliot, Darma and not to forget the chefs and the rest of the staff members will do anything for you, Including serving a great meal. Nothing has ever been a problem and are more than happy to help you. My favourite is the Prawn cocktail and Calamari for starters and portion size is just right. The meal deal through the week is also of great quality. Enjoy !

We went here for Breakfast on a Sunday morning. Good buffet with plenty of selection

We come every week. Poor atmosphere as we walked in, a few minutes before someone came out the kitchen. Surfaces were not wiped down, food not replenished. We asked for fresh eggs and baked beans, which were just put on top of old food. If not better next week, we will take our custom elsewhere.

4 adults asked to move tables has was surrounded by 2 parties of children . Lady taking order was very rude. Ordered mixed grill no peas and no sauce it came with sauce and peas cooked into egg white . Ordered sirloin well done came rump and rare .

We've just had a meal at the Turnpike (Pontefract) following the closure to the 'general public' of The Park (Harrogate). The staff were amazing - so helpful and friendly ... and the meal was good too. Thank you.

Shared our meal with rats running across the park. Manager wasn’t bothered and said we are near a canal and the bushes - said pest control was there weekly. Food was dry, peas were soggy, lots of flies in restaurant live and dead ones on window sills, food crumbs all over the floor. Do not recommend at all

We got to the place and were pleasantly surprised, the lovely morning burfe, really in doubt, they are 100% worth 4, but I have the rule, it has to be super special for 5 stars, but when I saw blood sausage I was sold, they get 5 stars because they see the real thing "English breakfast"!

Awful - waited 45 mins for the food to arrive only for it to be cold & onion rings solid. Clearly had been sitting out for a while. Left the food & requested a refund. Won't be returning to this one again

This is the 3rd time here with our grandchildren staying in the premierr inn.Last nights meal was such a disappointment..The starters we had was loaded nachos.we have had before and they were lovely hence why we ordered them again.They were dry and not very fresh so we left alot of them and explained to the staff member when she took the plates away.Said she would let the kitchen know and that was it. I had steak which was tough and the onion rings were fried far to long which made them so hard and crunchy and not really edible.the kids meals were not the best either.I asked the bar for a particular bottle of wine which was out of stock.asked for another which was also out of stock so ended up having to pick the only 1 left ..There was also no straws ..Please sort your chef and ordering stock out or you will loose more customers.

Last minute birthday plans. Booked a table for 7 people 3 of which were children one as young as 4. Arrived around 5pm welcomed by a lady called Stacey who was welcoming and friendly and helped us t our table. We sat down, two of the children chose from the kids menu having a starter main and pudding while the rest of us all chose from the normal menu, there is a great selection of starter's mains and deserts while we waited for our meals the children played in the play area and in the play ground outside the staff who were on shift( Jess and Evie ) were very polite,friendly and interacted with the children which made us all feel very relaxed and comfortable. We waited around 30 minutes for our meals the children's coming out first ,( which I find in most places meals come out in no particular order and when you have small children they don't like to wait ) the meals were beautifully presented and tasted amazing after we had eaten we sat and enjoyed a few drinks again the children went off to play before we ordered our puddings and again beautifully presented tasted amazing and no complaints what so ever ,even the children ate everything.! We asked to pass our thanks to the kitchen staff who were on shift (Carl and Ryan). A lovely evening meal with a great relaxed atmosphere kids worn out. Well done turnpike Perfect!

Love going here for drinks and food chill with kids , they lov play area , also go for chill without them s a couple, sava who works behind the bar is fantastic always on the go and makes sure all customers are happy 😊

My experience at turnpike was amazing I would come again and again I think the food is lovely special burger top chips one of my favourite and got to say every time I have come the waiters have been polite and kinda so keep the good work up

Shut far too early (before 10pm) on a Friday night well before their advertised time of 11pm.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

We visited at a very busy Father's Day lunch time. We had booked prior and our table was ready on time. We only had 2 menus for the 5 of us. But it wasn't a big deal as we passed them around. Orders are placed at the bar. The staff were knowledgeable with the order system and with customising orders. We had a considerable wait for food, but that was to be expected considering how busy it was. When our food did arrive it was well presented, hot and tasty. As far as pub grub is concerned, this place is good value and has something for everyone. We will return.

Found a table put drinks on it went to order food went back to the table to find people just about to sit at it as staff had showed them to it. Waited far to long at bar to get served or even acknowledged what trouble they would have been in if were a mystery drinker.

I can not believe that you could mess up a house salad so badly. Whichever development chef thought it was a good idea to use frozen avocado defrosted in a microwave needs to be sacked. The excuse given from the manager is that this is a pub not a restaurant is rubbish. One of the worse things I have ever put in my mouth and I have eaten sea slugs in China. How hard can it be to source and train a line cook to use a fresh avocado. If it is that difficult then you need to remove them from your menu. Absolute disgrace.

Really disappointed, we visited on 27/05/24, our first interaction was with Mary, very rude & abrupt no warmth to her manner at all, she kissed her teeth at my daughter because she didn’t know to use Apple Pay (she’s 11yrs old). We ordered 3 meals, x2 smothered chicken platters which were ok & fish & chips, fish was disgusting batter was soggy, the fish still had skin on? First time at a Brewers Fayre, not the best first impression.

Visited last week for a meal with my grandma, not a bad word to say. We were served by Hannah and she really made us feel welcome. She was more than happy to help out with any queries we had and provided excellent customer service all round. Will most definitely be returning in the near future!

Visited yesterday with my 2 daughters and ate in the children's play area. The food was OK for the price, and the play gym was a little smaller than I expected, but the staff member working in the play area, I think she was called Hannah, was fantastic. Constantly making sure we had everything we needed, and was so engaging with my daughters. Would definitely return

Yesterday we went for a family meal here and it was excellent!! The food and service was amazing and we will definitely be going back. We was served by Luke who was polite and attentive and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable and went out of his way to check if they had a bottle of wine I requested in stock. Would definitely recommended going to the turnpike!!!

Visited here at the weekend with my family where I had such a wonderful experience. I had the big stack burger, which was delicious and will definitely have again. Everyone else enjoyed their food too, my mum loved the sticky toffee pudding. The service and staff were excellent, especially Luke, he was very polite and friendly. We will be back and have already recommended this place to other friends and family!

Have attended this place a few times in the past years, but again in most recent weeks. We were greeted by a young man, Luke, and he was helpfull to us by providing a table close by to the play area and also providing a baby chair for our toddler. All the staff werw very accommidating to our 2yr old running around and being cheeky, and some staff took a moment to play with her. Most other places request us to keep her seated or play outside, but toddlers will be toddlers! The staff have all been pleasant, well presented and also welcoming. Luke ensured we were happy with our meal, and was very polite. The carvery was good, meat was served nice and hot along with the vegatables. We will return to this place again

We sat out the front as we had our dog with us, unfortunately we weren't allowed in the section fenced of with the dog which we have been at other brewers fayre with our dog which was the only outside seating still in the sun. The staff were a little rude about me not having noticed the table number on the outside tables (it was covered by the menu and its not unusual for outside tables not to be numbered) food took a bit long for how quiet it was. I got a Smothered platter medium rare steak which came well done but it was cold sat in the shade so didn't bother to complain and with how long the wait was I didn't want to wait again. Only other thing we got was drinks and the sharing starter. Garlic bread over cooked and the garlic breaded mushrooms were low quality and chewy. Much prefer our local brewers fayre

Can honestly say one of best family pubs I've been to in a long time. Having a 2 year old, the play area for her is fantastic and the food been cooked perfectly to how I like it. To make the whole experience that bit better, a young lad I believe named Luke had made sure all my dietary requirements were met. Meals had come to us in a good time. Overall, would honestly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Cheers Luke and the team 👍

I visited earlier today and wasn’t disappointed with my visit. This could have potentially been a different story if I wasn’t served and waited on by Luke, he was BRILLIANT. He was very patient with us as my 4 year old son is a very picky eater but he didn’t mind making modifications to his meal to fit his needs which I greatly appreciate. He was also one of the kindest and most polite people I have ever come across, he was so friendly to us and by the end of our visit I felt like we had known each other since primary school. We had some great chats and some brilliant banter but at the same time he wasn’t too invasive or nosey, can’t fault the guy in the slightest and he’s a massive credit to the team. Top man👍🏻

Recently visited for breakfast, we were greeted and served by Hannah, nothing was too much trouble, the food was freshly cooked and warm, she checked we had all we needed and if she could help in any other way, without being too over the top, we will definitely be returning very soon, thanks again Hannah for your wonderful service

Clean establishment friendly and polite staff

We tried the Turnpike for Sunday roast today and we will definitely return. The food was plentiful including the meat. The gravy was tasty too. The reason we didn’t give a 5⭐️ was purely down to the young female server. She wasn’t rude or anything. In fact she said little to nothing . She looked at the booking on screen and then walked silently to a bay where she pointed to a table. Then said order at the bar . She must be very shy I guess but her lack of welcome was something she needs to work on. It must have been the end of a long shift. The manager at the bar was very friendly. I’ve ticked small Sunday carvery as there isn’t a regular option on here.

Worst food we've had for a long time. Watery curry and dried out vegetable lasagne. Would not recommend. Not cheap either!

I know it's a cheap place to eat but it just seems very impolite and pushed Food was extremely average but despite that the service was ok.

Over cooked, microwaved and tasteless. Stopped here as we needed to get something to eat whilst traveling. Expected lousy food and service, weren't disappointed. My curry was like soup. My wife had vegetarian lasagna and would have been better off with a hammer and chisel rather than a knife and fork. Staff looked overworked and miserable. The seats were caked in stains. It really was grotty. Reminded me of those 1970s truck stops..

Turned up to a huge queue at the bar - been there before on many pubs next to a premier inn - BUT surprised to say the efficiency of the staff and the teamwork cleared the queue so quickly .. Well done to them and to the person's who trained them ... Impressive!.. Didn't eat when doing the rating hence that

The staff in the children play area, really great. The baby changing facilities smell horrendous, like the bin hasn't been changed for 2 to 3 days. It was that bad that customers were commenting on it and had to leave the door propped open. The manager or presume it was the manager in a black shirt behind the bar was very condescending.

Decent place at reasonable prices- just don't have the Cajun Burger- worst I've eaten (didn't even half finish it), rest of menu OK.. 👍🏻

Went for a meal with my mother for my birthday, order food at the bar it was quiet so got to pick where we sat. Food was nice I'm a hungry guy so could always eat more but for you average sized people the portions will be fine. Didn't use the facilities so can't comment on them. They have disabled parking and there is no steps to get into the building. They do have an outdoor play area for kids and an indoor area for kids to play didn't use it but could see they had them.

I visited here with my daughter & parents, it particularly appealed to us, due there being a kids soft play area. Whilst here we had Sunday dinner, with there being your normal Sunday dinner options on offer. Taste is what you expect for it being cooked in large amounts. All staff that we came across were super helpful, with the lady managing the soft play area being the best member of staff.

Only popped in for pudding and a mocktail but was pleasantly surprised. Good service, tasty puds and lovely mocktail! Yes some of the furnishings have seen better days but I am guessing it is popular with families so really what do people expect! All in all we left happy!

Booked my daughter a birthday party here. On arriving it’s all seemed well but when it came to the meal times they brought out the starters and got a few children’s orders wrong. When the mains came out the same thing happens again. They state on the leaflet that you get dedicated part “hosts” which are essentially waiters. You are left to sort the kids meals out on your own due to them just leaving them in the tables and not announcing they are out to the kids. I spoke to the manager who became very rude once a complaint was raised and started speaking to me in a condescending tone. Would not recommend coming here for party events.

Been here twice now with my father, girlfriend and my 18 month son. 1st time it was over an hour wait for food as they were short staffed. We left and ate elsewhere. Came today assuming they were having a bad day and that it'll be better. Immediately the indoor play area is closed due to an accident. But so is the outdoor one for some reason. This leaves us with a young boy bored and morngy and therefore ruins the appeal of coming to a family friendly pub that has entertainment for children. Ended up leaving here again to go elsewhere to somewhere that has entertainment for children and food served in a reasonable time. I also noticed some bad mouthing of the management by the bar staff when ordering a drink which leads me to believe the problem with this place is just poor management. Tried twice to come here for a nice meal with the family and failed. Won't be coming here again.

A regular place for us for Sunday carvery with the family. Staff friendly, Tony in particular is very friendly and attentive towards us and our children.

Found that the place is dirty. Went to the toilet found that it was blocked. Went to complain but had to ask again around hour & half later because nobody went to check. Won't be coming back again.

We went in for the breakfast and I could not fault the service and food. The staff were excellent and the food was really good with lots of variety. Very happy will Be going here again.

We called in for breakfast and were greeted by really friendly and helpful staff. Good food and great service at brewers fayre this morning. We came during a super busy period and the staff were friendly and attentive. They asked about allergies and special requirements and brought us gluten free toast and veggie sausages without delay. Great job Tony and team :)

6 of us got there late this morning but the manager, Tony, went out of his way to accommodate us. He was so welcoming and friendly, and did everything to make sure we all had a most enjoyable breakfast. It was one of the best breakfast experiences I’ve ever had.

Went for breakfast this morning. The place was really busy, and felt short staffed. Despite this, Tony, the man who served us, was amazing. He made sure we had fresh poached eggs, and even brought us some pastries to take with us as they had all gone when we arrived. He was so friendly and kind, I would go back just for Tony! Oh, and the black pudding was beautifully cooked! 👏🏻👏🏻

Dark in parts, the chairs have seen better days there are different types, shapes, coverings, colours and battered ( not beer batter ) condition. Food was not as good as the Meadows (Barnsley) where we eat weekly, I had the Smothered Platter myself and my wife had the lasagne, the lasagne looked reheated with burnt sauce all over the top and was served with shredded lettuce on the plate with two quarters of tomato on top, this should have been in a bowl cut up with sweet corn, cucumber and a salad dressing the salad we got was off the two for menu. My Platter was just eatable steak was cooked ok but tough, gammon over cooked and dry the fat was black, the chicken goojons were very over cooked they were shrivelled the coating was just short of being burned, the bacon was also over cooked and the cheese had almost disappeared from over cooking, chips and onion rings were ok the best thing on my Plate was the coleslaw.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was reasonable although the chips were cold. Furniture was a bit shoddy with rips on the upholstery - some of them were substantial. Prices were good.
