Myself and a group of 5 ( my sister, her friend, my mother and her friend) recently went on the Abba night for a birthday celebration. We were excited and ready for a great evening. We arrived an hour earlier than the show and found that this wasn't enough time to find a table as there were not enough tables for the number of people that had booked. We were in fact the only group that didn't have a table or seats. After awkwardly standing out of the way in the corner of the small dancefloor for lack of options the Entertainer (a lovely woman) took pity on us and provided a table and chairs for our group of 5. We happily sat down and were chatting amongst ourselves when we were approached by a highly intoxicated male telling us we couldn't sit there. We explained politely that we hadn't picked the location and he left. Moving directly to behind the bar where he and the male bar staff member talked and laughed while pointing at our group. As this continued a member of our group approached and asked what was going on and the bar staff told us we couldn't sit where we had, and needed to go ask other tables if we could join them (during a pandemic - and requiring us to spit up at a birthday celebration). We did do this but only found two spaced. We chose instead to continue to stand in our prior spot as we wanted to be together and were still excited for a fun evening. As we had been told we could keep our seats in that location but not the table we chose to keep only 2 chairs and a small stool. Amazingly this drunken male approached us another 2 times before then proceeded to attempt to take our stool after being told 5 times we still wanted it, requiring me to put hands on the stool as he tried to grab it. Ridiculous. For the next half hour his group of friends, mostly older intoxicated men then continued to point at our group as they sat/walked to the bar. As I was the designated driver and hadn't had any alcohol I went to the bar to ask if there was any more problems and to see if anything could be done about this. The barman told me I was imagining it, that no one had been even looking at us. While he said this he was laughing. As the prior behaviour then continued and we grew increasingly uncomfortable being made to stand and effectively mocked on what should have been a great night we decided we would rather leave. As the Abba act hadn't started we asked politely is we could have a refund. The bar man refused. After further discussion and explanation including the lack of seating - to which we were told 'you had a table' (one he didn't provide and then removed) he asked us to provide our online booking details which we readily did, but would not give any guarantee except his word. I highly doubt that we will receive our money back as he then proceeded to comment while laughing that if we left at 'the O2 we wouldn't get a refund'. I highly doubt we would ever be treated so poorly at a reputable venue! As we left a member of our group stopped to speak with a member of staff who had helped them speak to the surrounding tables to hopefully find us space, to explain why we were leaving early. This barman had followed us for a 'smoke break' and smirked while he listened. This did upset my friend who told him she would never set foot in the pub again. He informed he that he hoped she never would. I have never experienced treatment like this at any pub I've been to in my life. That it happened on a birthday made it all the worse.

We live round the corner from the rising sun, and have just endured the nosiest firework display I can ever remember. Our 2 month old baby was woke by them, and having watched them out the window whilst trying to soothe her, it became very obvious that whoever selected the fireworks went for pure noise rather than a nice display. Not only were they ridiculously noisy but they seemed to string them out over a long period and no matter where we went in our house could not find a quiet corner to soothe our baby.

My Mum took my daughter and I here for Sunday lunch yesterday and it was fantastic. I honestly can not fault the dinner at all, it was beautiful. There was everything you could and would want on a Sunday dinner, the staff were happy to give me extra gravy when I asked too. The roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings taste like proper home made roastys and puddings should! The small size is very generous and was more than enough for me and I can eat alot. The deal on a regular meal is fantastic too as it means your child (think it stipulated under 14) eats for £1!! My Mum got the regular but gave me some of it as sge was struggling, we was both so full and content My daughter got a kids meal and again, the size and choice was brilliant. None of us had room for a pudding but they looked just as impressive and tasty. The staff were lovely and very accommodating, we pre booked the table and our meals but was slightly late. They still accomodated us, they was polite on the phone and face to face. The lady that appeared to be in charge was especially helpful, friendly, polite and nice. It was that good I've booked in again for next week with my husband and daughter. I booked it on Facebook messenger this time via "The Rising Sun" Facebook profile page. This was just as easy to book as it was when phoning in our booking. Top marks for the staff, food and the price of the meals, puddings and Family feed deals.

Not sure the yorkshires were home made, but none the less i would recommend the food. The drinks are also a reasonable price with plenty of choice.

Five of us ate here for Sunday Lunch, four small portions and one standard.I hadn't been in this establishments for years but my first impression was that the place looked tired, could do with a revamp or decorating. We dined in a large room and it was a very cold winter day and whilst we were not exactly frozen, we felt it could have been a little bit warmer. As to the food itself it was delicious and piping hot with each of us having a separate gravy pot. To be honest the smaller portions were nearly as large as a regular one.. On the standard portion there was turkey, mash potato, roasties and a couple of new potatoes, 4 veg and Yorkshire Pudding (not entirely sure if these were home made. The meats are Turkey, Lamb, Beef and Gammon. The food was hot and nicely cooked and we all enjoyed it.No member of staff asked either during the meal or after if everything had been to our satisfaction, something I am used to when eating out. Would I go again, yes definitely as I enjoyed the food but one or two little extras would be mist welcome.

Good points. There was plenty on your plate although the difference between a regular and small wasn't that much. Service was good and didn't take too long and it was nice sitting in the conservatory with the sun coming through. Not so good points- Tired decor, noticed all the carpet was ripped and taped back up on entrance, could do with a facelift.Meat was a little dry (dry Turkey, Lamb and Salty Gammon). Yorkshire puddings were definitely not homemade despite being advertised as that. Overall i'll give this 6/10. We've had worse dinners and the food was better than Prince William over the road.

First visit today based on the 4 Sunday roast meals for £20 posts on Facebook. Kids eat for £1 when adults eat a main meal for £7.95 and Ice cream for £1.99 and the photos of the food and Menu looked good so we thought it would be worth a try. Normally our experience of ‘kids eat for £1’ type of promotions are that the meals are usually quite small portions - especially the kids plates. This was not the case here and they were piled high with an individual jug of gravy for each person. We all had gammon and there was loads of meat also and we all cleared our plates! There was mash, roasties, boilies, peas, carrots, green beans, cauliflower and a decent size Yorkshire pudding. We had ice cream for pudding - again there was tonnes of it with sugar strands, sauce and wafer served in a big sundae glass - excellent value and hubby said his sponge was lovely, can’t fault the food and the service was good and all staff friendly and helpfulCONSIt was very noisy - music blasting in the background led to people shouting over it and some very noisy (rude) tables playing kids films without them having headphones on and constantly banging tables without parents saying anything. I couldn’t hear myself think! No condiments like apple sauce and not asked - but I guess we could have asked but we good if they were freely availableLamb was already sold out which I was really looking forward to so get there early if you want itGammon/gravy very salty - only me out of the 4 of us thought this though No kids puds on the menu - ice cream at £1.95!or fudge cake/sponge at £3.95We will probably be back at some point but it would be a regular feature if it wasn’t so noisy!

Went tonight menu deceiving. Says 2 course meal but then if you want steak it's extra. Starter was OK not the best I've had. Asked for steak meduim to well done. Came out running with blood. No peas on the plate onion rings very greasy chips not home cooked frozen ones. Manger stated he use to be a chef and they where meduim to well down steaks. (The steak was still mooing) We own 3 pubs ourselves. And would never treat a customer like he did. Chef not a chance the only thing he did in the kitchen was eat the food.
