Nestled in a beautifully designed space that strikes the right balance between modern elegance and countryside charm, this new restaurant offers an inviting first impression. The décor is tasteful and cohesive, with thoughtful touches that suggest an appreciation for quality and atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by a friendly front-of-house team, and the overall mood of the dining room was upbeat and welcoming. Unfortunately, the execution behind the scenes didn’t quite match the polished exterior. While our server was kind and clearly doing their best, they appeared overextended and timid, resulting in slower service. Our drinks sat on the bar for 15 minutes before making it to our table—an oversight that set a disappointing tone early on. The signature burgers, which we were most eager to try, presented a mixed experience. Cooked well in terms of doneness, they unfortunately lacked basic seasoning and the richness of hand-crafted preparation. The patties were processed, rather than fresh and farm-style, which felt like a missed opportunity given the restaurant's rustic aesthetic. The flavor combinations also fell flat. The use of sweet brioche buns overwhelmed the patty rather than complementing it, and the addition of button mushrooms and maple-cured bacon felt more like an attempt at flair than thoughtful pairing. The choice of a sugary barbecue sauce only amplified this imbalance, where a tangy, textured relish might have grounded the flavors more effectively. There is real potential here, particularly if the kitchen leans into a more grounded, rustic concept that prioritizes simplicity, quality ingredients, and bold, balanced flavors. With some refinement and a stronger commitment to consistency, this could evolve into a standout destination. For now, however, it remains a good-looking place with friendly staff and a few culinary missteps that need addressing.

Absolutely beautiful food and the staff are extremely helpful and polite the restraint is perfectly clean and looks very modern and welcoming highly recommend a visit

Great service and food after the refurbishment.

First time in the Farmhouse all the way from Gibraltar! The staff are very welcoming and helpful with a nice mix of youth and experience amongst the staff. The venue is lovely, very spacious and warm decor. Child friendly also which is always nice to see. The only thing holding the place back from a perfect review is the food, and not by very much, so don’t let this deter you from coming! I just think the food doesn’t quite match the 5 star review that the staff and the venue does… In any case, if we’re ever back in Wakefield, we would come back again! Very well priced also!

The seemed well organised and staff were friendly and helpful. More space in the seating area than before. The food was good and drinks served promptly. So enjoyed our visit.

Very clean and well kept. Food is good but a bit reliant on how long it's been sitting on the buffet. Great value for money and polite staff. The style is a mix of modern and rustic design. Nothing crazy but comfortable and cool for hot days.

Popped there with a colleague for a breakfast, absolutely spot on, great staff, breakfast buffet was lovely, very clean and tidy too

Came to look at refurbishment. Bright snd light .some bench seats are good if you need the support for your back .carvery was great as it usually his. Bad point ordered drinks said we will bring them over .said I.ll wait .don't do that bring to table . 10 minutes later drinks appear. When questioned why so long .you go on a list 1 girl doing drinks .3 more taking orders. Second round of drinks dissapered to someone else table. Also told not a pub no more where a resturant and cant collect at bar. Not only one s couple got there carvery before drinks . All restaurants I've been in get your drinks brought straight away. Think this needs a rethink .people usually like to get a drink sit down a relax then eat. Seems to me get drink take you straight to carvery say good bye. Must have got idea from McDonald's.

Visited for Sunday lunch.Very clean and pleasant surroundings. Couldn't really ask for more. Excellent service, food served quickly and all very enjoyable.

It's been many years since I've been back to silkwood and what a transformation to a farmhouse kitchen. The place is so light and welcoming and the staff were great too. Came for the buffet breakfast, cant fault it. We will be back again in the future

Not one break buffets but this was lovely, all very fresh and warm. Coffee was also very nice!

We would highly recommend this place, the food was lovely we got a carvery and we was served by tinkerbell who was very happy to help and prompt service from her, love that it is now bottomless soft drinks

Very nice good and atmosphere this evening. Special compliments to Jack, very attentive. Visited again today 5/5/25 for breakfast ans it was lovely! Now it has been freshly refurbed adds to the dining experience. Buffet breakfast had plenty of fresh options, unlimited hot drinks and the orange juice.. freshly squeezed and tasty! Will definitely be back, well done team xx

Just not keen on scrambled egg unusual texture and flavour

Me & sis & brother two had carvery one had giant burger great carvery cause we was starving brother dribbled his burger lol on his new top ooops scruff but sever Tracy & becci was fantastic both did your company proud we all had a laugh and a giggle they’ll remember who we was but ye made us feel good and had laugh en we all loved the lemon cheesecake but you need to use home made cream not the synthetic cream don’t taste as good we’ll be back again soon so top up with lemon cheesecake 👍

We ordered from the carvery and it was beyond disappointing. The meat was dry and overcooked. All of the vegetables were cold and had no flavor. We had eaten at this location many times under previous ownership and it was outstanding. I would not recommend this under current management.

First visit back here for buffet breakfast after refurbishment, the difference is amazing, very light and airy decor, which makes you feel very welcomed. Food was hot and nicely cooked and there was plenty of it with food being replenished regularly. Special mention to Aiden and Sammy who made us feel very much at home, checked back to make sure everything was OK, clearing plates and keeping things very tidy, both of them a true asset to the place, thanks guys.

First time to the new farm house kitchen, lovely food, Colette who served us very polite and bubbly.

The food is well cooked and tastes good. The food is brought out quickly so you are not waiting long for the meal. The staff are friendly and check to see if everything is OK. The new system of waiting for the meal and carvery difference is a little confusing though. We was told the carvery would be ready near the time the meal is but I was already eating it before the carvery was ready. By the time they got the carvery I already finished my meal.

The food was lovely and came out fast, the staff are friendly and reliable. we sat outside in the sunshine and they purchased some new outdoor furniture which really goes with the new renovation. i do recommend!!

6 of us visited today for afternoon tea and I would recommend it was well worth the money

Visited Wednesday with my daughter, we had a carvery which was lovely and lots of different veg available and is now my go to restaurant for a Sunday roast even though it’s a 20 minute drive away. Came today Tuesday with my partner for buffet breakfast as my partner had bike test next door and again food was lovely and lots of items to choose from, staff was amazing on both visits especially the lady who we spoke to about leaving car in car park while my partner did his test (didn’t catch her name sorry) she’s a credit to the team, we will definitely be returning.

Typical weekend family tea out, decided to retry! Nothings changes still terrible. Ordered farm burger it was tasteless Also ordered half chicken may as well of had a chicken leg it would have been bigger, this was microwaved coleslaw was tescos cheapest. pizza for my child he also left this as it was soggy as hell Total waste of £35 We will not be back..

Naoime was very cheerful this morning and very helpful. Breakfast buffet was really tasty and the atmosphere in here is refreshing and calm.

This is the place to be, been twice since it opened and both breakfast and main food has been excellent, drinks are perfect and the desserts are spot on too. Staff are lovely, the place is clean and tidy, a really good place to visit

Breakfast buffet was good, cake was fantastic, all staff had a great attitude and welcoming demeanor, food is VERY well priced, fantastic place to eat alone and with a group! Cakes are huge, slices can easily be shared between 3 people

All ok until puddings and teas Wrong pudding then no ice cream brought and then self service tea and coffee not ideal for me as I’m disabled- not enough sugar free drink options either for a diabetic or dessert options

Love the new look Friendly warm welcome and everything was explained clear and professionally. Breakfast was very tasty and loving the new hot drinks machine. Amanda was very helpful and happy in her work, she's the sort of worker everyone wants in there business. Will certainly be returning

We came on the first day of opening after the refurbishment and I’ve got to say it looks absolutely fantastic! The staff were so friendly and welcoming! The new way of ordering a carvery and the new soft drinks system is great! A little disappointed some of my favourites were removed in the new menu but the food is still just as incredible definitely got some new favourites!

Wow! What can i say ... i took my daughter and grandchildren in for lunch. The host told me that the reopening wasn't until the following Tuesday but welcomed us in explaining the only thing was we could not pay for meals only drinks. We had the loveliest experience staff, food, cleanliness, redecoration were amazing. Thank you do much . We will be back!

WOW– what a transformation! The place looks fantastic, really tasteful update while keeping that cosy pub feel. Atmosphere was spot on – lively but relaxed, with a great mix of people. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier – proper lovely bunch who make you feel right at home. Massive shout out to the kids’ area too – absolutely brilliant setup. The little ones had a blast which meant we could sit back and enjoy ourselves. And the cakes? Absolutely to die for – rich, indulgent, and worth every bite. All in all, a brilliant spot whether you're there with the family or just fancy a quiet pint and something sweet. Already planning our next visit.

Had a gorgeous carvery ,, the staff are lovely and usual and good luck to there new ones .lovely people and great place to work. Cannot wait to take Granddaughter

I’d like to leave a heartfelt thank you for the incredible kindness shown to my dad (IRVIN) today. Even though the pub was closed for refurbishment, he turned up not realising but instead of turning him away, the manager warmly welcomed him in, made him a meal, and treated him with such generosity. It was his birthday, and not only did he get a delicious meal, but he didn’t have to pay a penny for anything. That small act of kindness meant the world to him and to us. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality these days, and we’re truly grateful. Thank you for going above and beyond! Thanks, Jessica Barlow

My first time here i went with some friends who took their kids the soft play area is good The place was quite Tbh the food was ok We had the breakfast it was hot service was good staff were polite and helpful Id go again
