Quite happy to accommodate bands and their followers who sympathise with those who lost the 2nd World war. Steer clear.

An absolutely awful eating experience that cost over 600 pounds for 6 people. The quality was absolutely shocking and this is clearly a profiteering exercise. It was nt even bad well done it was bad done bad. I would have refused to pay for it in any restaurant due to the quality and missing elements from each dish but how can you cause a scene on Christmas Day surrounded by families. Went home feeling powerless hungry and ripped off. The menu did not describe the food correctly, it looked great on paper but was not delivered. The vegetable were so insipid and un cooked, the turkey meat was clearly very low welfare, we left most of it and the great stuff described on the menu to convince us to buy into it were not even on the plate. Don't believe the hype. Here is my breakdown: The whole grilled Crevet prawns were just 1 'un grilled' prawn and the cocktail was the little sandwich prawns, the Marie Rose dressing was non existent and the avocado was tiny and insignificant, the toast was moist. The pancetta and sage croquette sounded great but in reality it was just a rolled bit of stuffing with bread crumbs on not even crispy. The turkey was in abundance but not nice to eat so most was left The roast potatoes were white and uncooked There was no clementine and rosemary compote and not a trace of muscovado brandy sauce, just catering custard. No Christmas spirit what so ever.

My husband and I visited the YD in Wakefield on Saturday morning for breakfast. Very cute surrounds. We were the only people in but this soon changed and the place was full by the time we left. My husband had a full English will poached eggs, all cooked perfectly, I have mushrooms, crispy bacon and beans on sourdough toast, delightful! Coffee was great as was the service, couldn’t fault a thing, will definitely return.

No regresare

Only rated it 1 star so I could do a review. Spent more or less £50 for a meal and drinks. The big breakfast which I ordered came with the fries missing so had to ask for them. The mushrooms were black blobs. The tomato looked shrivelled and I know it was called an “all day” breakfast but I didn’t expect it to have been cooked and kept all day then served. The beans were room temperature. Bacon looked like a pigs ear I serve my dog. Bean juice on side of plate had solidified. I mentioned it to a waiter who took it away and returned within a couple of mins with fresh mushrooms but everything else was the same. What a waste of money. I managed to eat some as I was hungry but left the rest . When the plates were eventually removed I said it hadn’t been nice and was told it was fresh but it wasn’t and he said he’d speak to the manager which I saw him speak to someone but never heard anything. I don’t mind paying for decent meals but this wasn’t and would not recommend

Visited a few times before so should have known it’s not the best but thought things may have improved since last year.. First off they make it very hard for older people to place orders due to the use of self service. I have to order whenever visiting with parents. Secondly if there’s something you need to query about the order the staff aren’t overly enthusiastic about helping. This latest visit I asked if a scone could be warmed up. The staff member muttered a few words & walked off to another member of staff who I thought she had passed the message onto. I waited for an acknowledgement but was ignored by both. It was clear I needed assistance as I was standing by the counter trying to catch someone’s eye. After a few minutes I had to ask an older lady who was lovely and said she’d sort it out. The order arrived in 4 stages over the next 10 minutes. Everything was completely out of sink so some food had been eaten before drinks arrived then the scone turned up at the end when everything was finished. The scone was stodgy and half left uneaten. All in all, an overpriced, unenjoyable hassleI.

Real Ale drinkers will know that Greene King are a brewery, they own pubs, they sell real ale in those pubs, they have 3 main sellers Abbot, IPA & Old Spackled Hen, usually all three are available in their pubs, NOT SO in this one. How poor is THAT !!
