Rude staff, poorly stocked shelves and second rate food in cafe. It seems hard work for anyone in this store to serve you. There are only a few exceptions to this. Awful place

If the Management of this store want it to go under then they heading exactly the right way. I was told this morning at 08.40am that I could not be served by a member of staff anywhere in Market Street. They said it didn't open until 09.00am. For anyone who doesn't know the store Market Street has a Fish Counter, a Deli counter, a Bakery and a Butchers. I wanted to buy some smoked fish. They had it pre-packed but I prefer it off the normally excellent fish counter. So I went back only to be told there wasn't any smoked fish. "They haven't sent any " was the reason. I then had a similar experience at the Deli where the bloke decided to serve me. He then picked up a pork pie with his bare hands and popped it in a bag ! I asked for Ox Tongue only to be told "We haven't non today" What no Ox Tongue on a Deli counter ? Its a store that would be under pressure in any normal trading environment but as we know Supermarkets generally put all the smaller shops out of business until they establish a monopoly. Thats what happened here except we do have a choice of an Aldi. Its too small though to warrant individual counters so everything is pre packed. Purely by coincidence my bank sent me an email yesterday asking if I knew how much I spent monthly at Morrisons. It was more than I though but it will be considerably less in future.

Shocking or lack of service. How is it possible to have a 30-50 min wait despite there only being six tables of people eating? Majority of tables weren't cleaned up yet there wasnt a queue to take our order? Terrible

I took my grandchildren for lunch today and was pleased to see everything had been made safe to sit and eat at an appropriate distance from other diners. I was Therefore quite shocked whilst waiting for our meal to see the woman clearing the tables was literally swiping the tables with a cloth She was not using a spray nor was she wiping the tables thoroughly. The lady in question was wearing a white overall. It was between 2 and 2.30

We went to Morrisons (Rothwell) today and the first thing we did was go to the fish counter. Asked for 2 pieces of smoked haddock. The guy behind the counter asked us to move back behind the 1mtr line. We apologised and moved. HE THEM PICKED 2 PIECES OF HADDOCK, NO GLOVES AND PUT THEM IN THE BAG! I said to him why are we made to move back behind the yellow line- BUT YOU DON'T USE GLOVES TO PUT OUR FOOD IN A BAG? his reply was- I wash my hands. MORRISONS YOU ARE DISGUSTING

On 13th May 2020 at approximately 1610-1620 I attended Morrisons store, Rothwell, Leeds as we intended to buy some food items. I initially got into the queue for trolleys, however after noticing that there was a seperate line for hand baskets I chose to move to this line. My wife remained in the trolleys queue as she said she was going to get some garden items and said I should go ahead and get the smaller items to speed up the shop. I picked up a basket and after waiting for a while the female Morissons employee at the door ushered those in front of me into the store. I was stopped at the front of the queue. After a short while she beckoned others from the trolley queue into the store followed by me, and I entered into the foyer area and selected some biscuits. Shortly afterwards my wife entered the store and started to select some garden wares, including some compost and some large planters. These were also in the foyer. Having noticed that she did not have a trolley with her, I asked her why and she said that she had not felt comfortable getting one as they were next to a large doorman who was arguing aggressively with a customer about his face covering/motorcycle helmet. Because the items we needed were so heavy I returned to the entrance to swap my basket for a trolley. As I replaced my basket in the holder and turned to draw a trolley from from the storage area, a doorman who I will describe later approached me. His manner was aggressive in his posture and speech, was very loud from the outset and he immediately began to berate me as to my actions. 'You were in the basket express queue, and now you think you're getting a trolley, eh?' This man used the term 'eh' frequently as well as the term 'or else what?' and 'what are you going to do about it?'. I recognise this behaviour as threatening and I felt alarmed by his conduct as it was totally out of the blue. I turned to this man and explained the situation, that my wife had queued appropriately but hadn't got a trolley and that I was now swapping my basket for one. I was careful to remain calm and polite as there were a number of other shoppers and Morissons staff present and having been highly trained in conflict management and resolution having spent 12 years in the Police, I was aware of my surroundings and potential for counter allegations. This only served to aggravate the man further however, who advanced on me slightly and continued to berate me aggressively, continually asking me whether I thought I was going to be allowed to just go back into the store 'eh, eh'. In an attempt to quell the situation as I was now aware of several other customers watching and continue with my business, I said, 'Listen, you need to calm down, you aren't stood on the door of a nightclub now, this is a supermarket and there's women and kids here. I'm going shopping mate' I drew a trolley and walked into the store. I was then amazed to find as I approached my wife at the entrance barriers, that the man was now following me shouting repeatedly total drivel about whether I thought 'was somert', whether I was going to make him calm down, and for some reason saying 'eh, eh' and 'or else what' over and over again. This was harassing to both me and my wife and it became apparent that he was going to follow me around my entire shop shouting aggressively at me if I did not speak to him, even though I only wanted to get myself and my wife away from him. I turned to face this man and he continued shouting in my face, causing other shoppers to look at what was taking place. I was very deliberate in my wording as I said to him, 'What are you following me for? My wife and I are now harassed, alarmed and distressed, which is in contravention of Section 5 and Section 4a of the Public Order Act, please go away' His response was 'Go away, or else what? Who are you telling? So what if I'm not on a nightclub door, what are you gonna do about it, eh, eh?' At this stage he was sticking out his chest, his fists were clenched and I readied myself to react to physical assault. I have been spoken to like this hundreds of times in my professional experience, but I was in fear for the safety of my wife and mindful of the distress of others present. I tried one more time to diffuse the situation and I was very deliberately calm and polite in my manner. 'Please go away and go back to doing your job, you are harassing, alarming and distressing me and my wife, try being a professional' The man continued shouting at me after this, but stomped his way back to his post. I believe that the door mans whole course of action had been to provoke a verbal or physical reaction from me in order to bully me into leaving initially, and then when it became apparent that this had not worked, justify physically assaulting me and throwing me out of the store. This is a tactic I have seen door staff use many times in licenced premises. He as not afforded this opportunity however as I remained calm, I did not raise my voice, offer violence, swear or advance on this man at any point. This man was a white male, 35-45, 6'3"-6'7", fat build, cropped hair, unshaven, white shirt with a yellow arm band, black trousers, black shoes. He may have had a black jacket which was unzipped but I do not remember exactly. As I have said, this was a totally unprovoked incident and my wife in particularly was very upset by this man's conduct, as were the several other shoppers and staff present. Whether the staff members present as witness choose to be truthful if asked for their accounts is their choice, however this incident will be caught on camera from start to finish and will prove this account to be true in its entirety. As pointed out to the man himself, he has committed at least 1 crime whilst acting in a professional capacity representing Morissons in a front of house public facing role, and also carrying a card issued by the SIA. This man's job is to keep people safe in a time of unprecedented danger from a world changing virus. He is employed solely to maintain order and provide reassurance to people attempting to lead normal lives in a time of inherent fear. He has failed in his employ in every regard and is a disgrace to his agency, the SIA, and unfortunately in this instance Morissons. I have referred this to Morissons who have not accepted my email, and having contacted their customer services via their contact page I received a response basically saying that they won't be dealing with complaints because of the pandemic. I have tried to call head office and the store and have simply found an automated message about home shopping and 'More' cards. There are many reviews about this kind of behaviour and Morissons seem to have neither acknowledged that there is a problem, nor made changes to their approach to queue handling. I am reviewing my options and may refer this wannabe bully to Police to answer for his crimes against me, my wife and the other persons of reasonable firmness he caused alarm to.
