The best restaurants serving British food in Yorkshire and The Humber

Visited the Bruce Arms today at lunchtime with a friend and dogs. The food us really lovely. Duck terrine with celeriac and toast to start and Spinach and cheese quiche, homemade slaw and new potatoes. Delicious. The staff are so very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend. Thank you.

We had a vegetarian breakfast... it was so so oily, the fried toast 🤮 & fried hash brown, I couldn't even chew it! Even the oil itself tastes bad. It's cheap for a reason. Not recommend

Visited on Friday and was appalled with how I was spoken to by a member of staff, he had fair hair that was balding, and a white shirt on so I assume he was the manager. The staff member served me my drink and accidentally spilt it mainly on me, but also my partner and dog, I was soaked. She was apologetic and cleaned it up before getting me a replacement beer that she spilt. I spoke to the staff member who told me that she apologised and replaced my drink. It was not their policy to give free drinks. I did say I got the pint I paid for, but I didn’t pay to be covered in beer, and soaking wet. Let alone being away from home with clothes I couldn’t wear, a dog that needed washing and having to walk back to my accommodation soaking and smelling of beer. Wherever I have worked before, or if I have seen people have drinks spilt on them. It has always been common curiosity to provide a free drink as way of an apology to the guests it has affected. Aside from being a business, as a human being, he should have bent over backwards to make sure the visitors were happy. I’m just shocked of the attitude of the guy. Accidents happen but it’s the way you deal with them that makes the business.

Food amazing staff brilliant and attentive and a friendly atmosphere

We visit the Moorlands quite often on Sunday mornings for their delicious breakfasts and free refills of coffee. Always a nice atmosphere and great scenery to admire when sitting outside.

First time I’ve ever been given calamari in batter with no calamari inside it. Service poor and it wasn’t busy. We were a large party and after spending what we did it was very disappointing.

Would not recommend or be coming here again. Planned to have dessert but after the main decided not to. Mash was extremely dry and tasteless, peas were hard, and the Yorkshire pudding was undercooked in the middle

Very helpful, I was choosing books for my grandchildren and the staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble.

I would class this as one of my local pubs, I often pop in for a beer here after work or with the family over the weekend. Staff are great very friendly and always trying to help you as soon as possibly even when busy. There is decent choice of beer and not over priced. Food is ok what you expect from a 2 for 1 great value for money if you do one of their many offers. Great place for family with seperate adults only area

Just want to say been twice in 2 weeks to the cat and both times not been disappointed once the service from the staff to the food and drinks brought to our table it was all my families pleasure to eat there thank you keep up the great work all of you and most of all the value for our hard earned money was well worth giving you it THE HERRINGTON FAMILY

I was getting my food when I saw the staff bullying a new member and I found this very disgusting and not ethical.It was un professional and pathetic
