White House in Leeds

First time I’ve ever been given calamari in batter with no calamari inside it. Service poor and it wasn’t busy. We were a large party and after spending what we did it was very disappointing.

Just had lunch at the White House, the pub environment was warm and cosy, the food was excellent and good value for money but the customer service provided by Claire, Chelsea and Oliver was even better, they were very friendly and really helpful and provided a first class service.

We came for dinner yesterday, a party of five. We had my elderly mother and I forgot to mention on the booking about her mobility and we had been put at a table with taller stools (that without my mum being there we would have loved to sit at, looked like fun) however wasn't suitable for her. They quickly switched things around and got us another table even though they were quite busy. Really appreciated that as it was my fault I hadn't mentioned it for some reason. We had a couple of the rib of beef roasts and some other classics from the main menu, followed by desserts. I don't often have roasts when I am out as I never find they are as good as the ones we have at home, but that rib of beef is so so good. All of the other food was lovely according to the others in the party. The serving staff, as always were exceptional. We have been coming here for many years and always enjoy it and yesterday was no exception. I often recommend this place to people as it is just a lovely place to come out for dinner and we have had quite a few family get togethers here recently and everyone has thoroughly enjoyed it and we have been really well looked after.

We've been to the White House two weekends running and both times were impressed with the environment (indoors and outside) the quality of the food and the lovely friendly welcoming, efficient staff. We'll be back!

A good menu with a nice range of specials too. The food came quickly and was delicious. Kirstie who served us, and all the other staff, were all really friendly and welcoming - I endorse all the other reviews praising the team here, they are great. Would definitely recommend.

Service was great , people lovely , food was great , Chicken Burger was very tasty, Small negatives , no stock of Proseco, and no brown sauce in stock, suggestion nip to Tesco down the road.

I live locally and used to go to The White House weekly with a couple of friends when we all wound down from work. Under previous licensees it was more of a pub. A better description now would be 'pub restaurant' ('gastro-pub' makes me feel queezy!). Twenty years later and not having to wind down from as much work as we did, we are re-discovering The White House as an alternative to the noisey, cramped shopfront bars and cafés that come and go just up the road. That all goes for breakfast (which sometimes slips to brunch!) as this is our preferred time to eat with alcohol taking a back seat for the older constitution. At least one star is always witheld because perfection is rarely achieved anywhere, food is a very subjective matter and nits can always be picked by the grumpy. A most suitable venue for an ample breakfast with room for everybody's elbows and no need to shout at one's companions. There's something on the menu for all tastes with bespoke variations and additions happily accommodated. There'll be more breakfasts soon and dinner before too long.

We pre booked as we have before, good table for the 6 of us. The food was as always excellent, we also go as a couple not pre booked & the choice of food never let's us down. The only criticism is that the lasagne has been removed & 2 of our guests were looking forward to it as I have commented how good it has been on previous occasions. It is also mentioned on the website! So apart from that disappointment it would be 1000% spot on, so please bring it back. 😅

Me and my family were in here earlier and wow what can I say, the service was absolutely second to none, our waitress Chelsea was absolutely amazing probably the best service I have ever received. She was lovely, friendly, helpful and her overall demeanor was just wonderful, because of her I would definitely come back. The food was incredible and definitely went down a treat. Honestly could not say a bad thing about the white house and if they have people like Chelsea working there then they are definitely doing something right. Very happy customer and very happy family and will definitely return in the future.

Big thanks to all the staff at the White House, wherever you may be. Nipped in for a cheeky half with the wife t'other day. Apart from one young lad running the show, staff wise the place was deserted. After a prolonged wait at the bar we did one. I'm right in thinking it wasn't self serve, right?

For a pub that's clearly had a great refurb the bar service and value for money on the food are abysmal. We were ignored waiting for a table by the manager on shift, until a waitress pointed out that we were there. Same manager was working entirely at her own pace at the bar despite a large queue forming and it took a full ten mins to order food despite having only two patrons ahead of us. Menu is misleading as to the quality of the food in the Sunday Roasts - I'm sorry but "Rosemary and Thyme Duck Fat Roasted Potatoes" is a total lie; they're clearly frozen. Cauliflower cheese was just a ceramic pot of cauliflower with a melted cheese slice or two on top. Feels like, having read other reviews, that the management and food in this place have tanked. Seemed understaffed too, which on a Sunday lunch service on the edge of Roundhay park just isn't acceptable. You must know you're gonna be busy. Won't be coming back. I will add though, all waiting staff were nice and attentive - the issues in this place are clearly coming from above them.

The White House is the perfect place for a bite to eat after a walk round Roundhay Lake. Dog friendly and a cozy atmosphere makes it very inviting. Staff were friendly and helpful; Kirstie was very attentive. The food is lovely, good portion size and value for money. Recommend the sharing platter and chicken burger.

Must have gone on a bad day the turkey was loverly but no stuffing or pigs in blankets the potatoes could not be described as roasted only 2 very small portions of veg heard such good reports of this place but was very disapointed not worth the money

Stood at the door alongside 2 other bookings for 15 minutes without even being acknowledged. My group & I decided to then go to the bar to at least get a drink and wait there instead. It was clear from when we got there that they were short staffed, but at 1pm on a Sunday surely you’d ensure there’s plenty of staff on?! Food was average but extremely overpriced. Our waitress (lovely, with dark brown hair in a ponytail) was great, despite very slow service which I don’t believe was her fault. I think under the right management this would be a fantastic place but unfortunately we won’t be returning.

Such a fantastic pub - it’s our favourite in the area. Lovely atmosphere, food and prices - we enjoy every visit. Really recommend!

BE CAREFUL, Things are not always what they seem. Food crap and dodgy place.planned events over Christmas time, especially mornings with the saint Nicklaus.

Please be aware is the whitehouse safe for your children, have the management ensured people safeguarding ? Especially when attending advertised events? Eg Breakfast with Santa etc ? I think it is only right parents should know people have been checked for contact with loved ones, Luckily it was me who played the role and I'm 100% no criminal convictions. I am disgusted that these checks are NOT carried out. And when challenged by area management they will not respond to your correspondence. Shameful

As we were leaving, Chelsea mentioned the possibility of leaving a review. But she was too late because I already knew that I'd be leaving a glowing review. Absolutely love the White House. Just had belly pork with mash, carrots, cabbage and gravy. Utterly sublime. Treated to a complementary blueberry panna cotta with ice cream. Lovely experience in a pub which has an atmosphere which is as warm as its fabulous staff. Thank you

Came for brunch with friends. Was overcharged as extra meal added to our bill that wasn’t ordered or served Food wasn’t the best - sausage sandwich was dry, smoked salmon and poached eggs seemed much smaller than before … Nice cosy pub and had some decent meals there. Just need to be consistent on their service, quality and portion sizes

Went on Boxing day with my family and the food and service was great. Most of the family had the traditional Christmas menu and I had the vegetarian version. All good and hot. The service was great. Visited again in Jan with my friend and again the food was delicious and hot. Chelsea was our waitress and she was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. She kept checking in on us and was really friendly. A real asset to their team.

Myself and my wife visited at 5-30pm last Wednesday i had booked the wrong time ie 3-30pm however staff allowed me to still dine as bar area was not too busy. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. i had the smothered chicken which was nice while my wife had steak pie and she loved it,she loved the vanilla slice even more,really nice relaxed atmosphere and will be happy to return.reasonable prices although we did have a 2 mains for 1 deal.

We went on Sunday the 22nd of December and had a beautiful Sunday lunch!Claire and the staff was first class and the food was gorgeous!the whole team was brilliant and made the day fantastic!thank you again for a brilliant day.

We've been here twice now and staff need to get their act together. Just ignoring us especially the woman with black hair who doesn't seem to want to be there. Even the ladies on the table next to us said the service was not great. Real let down, food was warm. Shame really as the ambience of the pub is lovely. Did send an email about my overall experience but no one got back to me.

All the food was delicious Christmas menu & Sunday roasts, there were 7 adults who enjoyed their lunches, but let down by each course arriving slowly so some near finished and a couple still waiting for their food 😔

We came as a party of 11 and had our own little area. Drinks and food were all charged to the table and then it was paid afterwards. The food was incredible especially the Lamb Shank Shepherds Pie - it was served so hot and remained hot whilst eating. Highly recommended and we will be back soon for sure!

I've eaten here many times with my family. The Burgers to die for 😋. Recently held an even in the function room and the staff couldn't have done more , to make the day perfect.

Beautiful restaurant in a nice location. Visited on a steady Thursday afternoon with family and thoroughly enjoyed it. Beef and ale pie is a must👌 It's an establishment that prides itself on customer service and good food, and it definitely ticked all the boxes for us. See you again soon.

Table booked for 14:00 today, arrived on time and seated immediately at table 18. Service was excellent, very cheerful and polite young man got our drink order and left us to decide on our meals. Drinks came very quickly and we ordered the main meals, both myself and my wife going for the Trio, food was served really quickly and every part of it was delicious with special mention to the Yorkshire Puddings. Really good portions which unfortunately I didn't do justice to but our server very kindly wrapped the meat in tinfoil for me to take home. All in all a fabulous visit and we'll definitely be back!

I was at the location yesterday with aroud 30 other people , after atttending a cremation. It is an excelent place for eating. The staff are brilliant, the Chef is a fabuloua cook and the buffet they provided was top quality. Thank you Chef for all the hard work you put in. The watress that served us was also amazing. Truly recomend anytme.

I have always received first class service. Staff extremely polite. The whole team gets 10 out of 10 every time. Again food is first class also.

A place in which, upon entering, the first thing you see is a black board stating the rules of being on the terrace. Any place which views itself as an enforcer is a sad place. “Full of old world charm” ? Not really, full of beige, brown and accoutrements from Dunhelm Mill. Atmosphere like being at the family solicitor’s wake. Beer (Tim Taylor’s Landlord) was very good though.

Went for Sunday roast last week. Friendly and quick service, great decor and atmosphere. Roast beef bland and vegetables sloppy and not much of it on the plate. Yorkshire pudding and the gravy was excellent, roasted potatoes and parsnip not so. Would love to come back and eat but will give the Sunday roast a miss.

Mother in law is moving next door so popped in to check this place out, pleasantly surprised given its a chain, lovely building and nicely designed internally. I can imagine it’s a nice place for a drink in the sun on the terrace in warmer months. We’ll be back.

Just on the outskirts of Rounday Park, the White House was the perfect location for a hearty breakfast after a wonderful Autumnal walk in the park. We had the full English Breakfast which was expertly cooked and included everything you would expect of a proper English Breakfast! The decor is modern but perfectly balanced with the grandeur and history of the old house. We were especially pleased with the wonderful welcome and hospitality from Addam, Claire and the team which made our visit even better, thank you! We will be back soon!

Had a full breakfast this morning Saturday 26th October 2024, me wife& myself were welcome & greeted by landlady. We both had excellent & delicious breakfast.Excellent staff in good surroundings, polite.Always attentive with a smile.

Really enjoyed Sunday lunch at the Whitehouse went for Turkey with all the trimmings, very good portion sizes & the food actually had taste & wasn’t bland even the gravy was lovely. Lovely choice of desserts & again hit the tastebuds. Service a little slow but due to a full house of Sunday diners atmosphere & decor very appealing love the decor revamp, disability access & assistance very good only down side was tables very close together overall 8/10 & can’t wait to return .

Food was expensive for what it was. Greene King obviously buy their steak and ale pies in bulk for their pubs up and down the country, and they're not great. My brother in law had one at The Whitehouse, and there was hardly any meat in it, and what there was was mainly gristle. My 'Signature ' burger should have been topped with braised beef and again, there was virtually none. My partner said the veggie burger was good

The White House is a family favourite so when my friends from out of town were visiting I just had to bring them. I usually visit on an evening so going during lunch made for a nice change. I went for the peach and brie salad as I wasn’t up for anything too heavy, but my friends had a steak sandwich and the chicken breast and everything was super tasty. The service was wonderful too with the staff checking in to see if there was anything else they could do for us.

Always treat us well here, a great place to catch up with friends and colleagues, we usually have a large group and they have always been good with us.

I'm a big fan of the Whitehouse, and have eaten here previously, however the Sunday lunches leave a lot to be desired. Small portions, only 2 small slices of beef unfortunately, dry, tough and overcooked. The Yorkshire pudding was average at best, the two miniscule florets of broccoli were still raw, and the cauliflower cheese was microwaved, watery and undercooked. A HUGE disappointment on all counts. Plates piled high and empty glasses on our table and adjacent tables, so no service to speak of and no opportunity to raise our concerns with the quality of the food on the day.
