Overpriced and pretentious!!! Even with a 50% discount, I wouldn't go back. The service we had from the lady serving us was non-existent and bordering on "bloody rude". As the place was nearly empty, there was no excuse. Needless to say, we refused the service charge of 12%. The food was good but nothing special and the fillet steaks were way over priced for the size...the smallest ever. I've had better meals in pubs and for a lot less. It was supposed to be a special occasion for my niece's 18th which was totally ruined.

This is the 2nd time I've been in here. First time they didn't have the ingredients to do two of the cocktails I chose. But decided to give them another go last night. Tbh I was even more put off this place, no one had been clearing empty glasses so the bar had loads of them and loads of tables where no one was sitting still had empties on them. There was one person serving and we had two people in front of us. Didn't even get an acknowledgement saying hi and I'll be with you soon. 🤦‍♂️ Another staff member arrived carrying back empty bin, put this down and then started serving the next person (without washing hands first ) The two staff members then continued to talk to each other instead of actually serving. To say you're charging the prices that you do you are portraying a high end place. But you are not giving the service that goes with it. There are better places in leeds that offer more competitive prices and manage to keep up with clearing tables and know how to welcome staff properly so they know they are bene looked after. Update - I'd received a message to this, asking me to contact them for provide further information. I did do this via email as requested and didn't receive anything back. I've checked my junk too.

Hosted an event in their private dining room for 12 people, hands down the worst service I've ever experianced! On arrival there was staff eating at the table which wasn’t setup (I ended up having to go round this and sorting myself), during the service no one knew what each person was eating or where dishes were going and there seemed to be a general lack of attentiveness all-round. No one poured the wine, offered drinks, or really appeared to check up on us at any point. Even some of our guests mentioned this which really doesn’t look great for us either. When spending over £750 for a dinner we did expect more.

Visited with friend and really looked forward to eating here. What an amazing place. Absolutely stunning inside. Such a shame the food was just ok. Order sharing plate. It was ok. I ordered lamb curry Very disappointing I must say. If I wanted a potato curry I would have ordered one. Too many potatoes and not much lamb in it and the bits that were minute. Won’t be visiting again or recommend to anyone as it needs to up its game The reason we didn’t mention this was the waitress who took our plates away didn’t have the courtesy to ask if we had enjoyed it !! Staff training needed I think.

We booked the Grand Pacific for a Mother’s Day treat afternoon tea. The place its self is very nice and on a Sunday they have violins playing which made for a good atmosphere. We ordered the standard afternoon tea and on the menu it said beef and horseradish sandwiches however when it came we were given salmon and watercress. When we spoke to the host they told us that they didn’t do the beef sandwiches anymore so it was salmon but no one told us this when we ordered or when it was given to us at the table. Luckily none of us had any allergies because as I said none of us were told about the menu change and if we’d have known we may have ordered something else. I have checked the website and it is updated on there but they just haven’t updated the menus in the restaurant. We asked the host if we could have something else (as two of the party don’t eat salmon) and they agreed to bring more sandwiches and lobster rolls. When they returned they brought one finger sandwich and one roll (which is less than what they left the table with!), then proceeded to point at someone else’s lobster roll and say “if you want a lobster roll there is one there you can have” - then walked off. Shocking and very strange customers service. I got the managers attention and explained what had just happened, she was pleasant and offered to bring us alternative food. The afternoon tea quality was ok but nothing special and it seemed like it had been stood around for some time as the bread was hard. We were disappointed with the experience and the food. I wouldn’t recommend or return.

Booked the afternoon tea for a Mother’s Day treat. Never been here before and upon entering I was really impressed with the decor and the atmosphere. It looked very grand and therefore, I had high expectations for the afternoon tea. Tables were set up lovely with nice detail and we were served quickly. We were a party of four and therefore had two afternoon teas shared between two. The menu specified the choices of sandwiches on the afternoon tea. Corporation chicken, lobster roll and beef and horseradish. Unfortunately the beef was changed to salmon which tasted of horseradish and therefore wasn’t very pleasant and a weird combination. We did mention this to staff who told us there was no beef and this had been changed to salmon. It would have been nice to have been informed as I would have ordered something completely different as I don’t eat salmon or lobster so only got one chicken finger slice. The staff member told us we could change the sandwiches so we opted to swap two of the salmon sandwiches on one of the afternoon teas for the chicken. We also asked if we could swap another sandwich on the second afternoon tea as the bread was very dry. This wasn’t a problem and therefore we were more than happy with this. So we gave three sandwiches back to be swapped. However, only two sandwiches were replaced and we were told we already had a lobster roll one of us hadn’t eaten. This technically meant we were two sandwiches short on one of the afternoon teas. I didn’t feel we were being unreasonable as we were asking for extra, we only wanted to swap as we were expecting beef and not salmon. Had we have been told we would have ordered something different or asked to make a swap when we ordered. Fortunately another member of staff rectified this for us but it felt awkward having to ask again. For the grandness of the building and setting the service was poor. The sweet treats and scones were lovely but I’ve had better afternoon teas for the same price mark. Overall, it was a disappointing Mother’s Day treat.

We had to send back some sandwiches because they were hard the staff were not pleasant and I would say they didn’t want to be there at no point was there any more than a dozen people in but we still had to ask for a cup of tea which is what we got one cup and a tea pot had to ask for another for my daughter. I would not recommend this to anyone and was annoyed because I don’t think it would have been cheap I hate my daughter wasting her money

So, here I am….broken Britain….in Leeds with all trains south of Doncaster delayed due to “signalling problems”…..and no indication of when it will all be sorted. Fortunately, I’m sat at the bar in the convivial company of Fabio the bar man. It’s time likes this when you’re stressed out and you just need a friendly, warm, kind, understanding face to talk to. And that’s what you get with Fabio. Top man! He was working on a master class in cocktail making at the bar with his colleague Sandra while I was there. Every ingredient measured, tasted and meticulously reviewed. It was a joy to behold. Top bar but above all…..top staff!

My third visit here and got free cocktails due to waiting over 30 mins for the staff to find the ingredients for our drinks. In December 2023 I visited with my daughter and had similar experience, hence me writing this review. For such a beautiful place, you need more trained staff who know what they are doing. Although the staff are polite and apologise to the customer, I feel this is a management issue and you need to take care of this place and the staff running the bar.

This was our second visit for afternoon tea at Grand Pacific. Maybe it was because we visited early on New Year's Eve afternoon, but standards have definitely slipped since early summer. Sandwiches appeared to be made with cheap, shop bread - you know, the stuff that has the consistency of a dish sponge. One sandwich was filled with turkey and was particularly dry. And we were expecting coronation chicken, not yet more turkey! The little cakes and delicacies came on the tiered plates with the sandwiches and included a bite sized duck sausage roll, a little trifle, a macaroon, and an incredibly rich chocolate delice. The warm, fruit scones with cream and jam followed a while later. It was all Very Nice - but that's it. This time I picked up the bill (my son paid last time) and I would have let things be had it cost the advertised £29.50 per person. But it didn't. An obligatory service charge was added. This really does annoy me! Just include it in the price and leave additional tips to the customers' discretion. However the thing that has REALLY UPSET ME is the fact one tea was charged at £32.50 plus service charge. We didn't realise until we got home so couldn't dispute it. Interestingly, the only difference was one member of our party has a nut allergy, so his macaroon was swapped for a chocolate delice (which he didn't even eat!). Very attentive staff. Beautiful surroundings. I love the decor. But surreptitious charges for allergy sufferers without consultation - and especially when it is unjust - is a big NoNo. So next time I'll go somewhere that they charge what they say they will.

I think I was expecting a more luxurious ambiance. The decor was certainly chic and opulent, but there was still the general cacauphony of screaming children around us. We went for high tea - £30 plus service charge for your basic tier (which isn't really basic, just no alcohol included). Lots of lovely little innovative bits - macarons and trifle and mini mince pies. They were all good, but not amazing. The scones were absolutely stand out. Go for the scones. I think overall it was a decent afternoon tea and if I hadn't gone in with high expectations because of the price, I might have ended up rating it a little higher. Still... for thirty quid, you'd think they'd let us take our extras home. (Yes, they did explain it was against policy to let us leave with scones in our bags I just don't quite agree with it)

My friend had booked the high tea here for my 30th birthday and we were sadly disappointed. The place has a fantastic decor throughout and we expected great things when looking at the website. As soon as we entered the assumed manager sat at the front desk to the left was on the phone. Not a problem, we waited a while and as she was still on the phone we quietly approached she as much as shooed us to the young girl at the bar. There was no understanding or acknowledgment that we even existed until shooing. The young girl did not know what was happening or why we came to her so she fetched a young man to deal with us. He came over and took us to our seating area, he also informed us we couldn’t sit on a table because it was for 4 people not for us as there was 2 of us. Understandable if the venue is busy and fully booked. It was not. Then we were approached by a young woman Erin I believe who came to take orders who was knew and tried her best. We saw advertised a pineapple golden rustic stand for the afternoon tea online… they don’t have this. The food came out and the beef in the sandwich was so hard to chew through (not sure if older customers would be able to get through this). There was no spoons with our trifles so we asked for some. We actually had a mixture of servers so was hard to keep up. Normally establishments like this have one server who takes care of you and then there is more incentive for a tip and good review etc and a chance to build some rapport. However, I will say Erin was great to us. When they brought our scones out at the end they were burnt we informed the young man and he apologised and brought out more, they were also over cooked and dry. We did not finish them. They apologised and gave us a latte for free as the tea was also deplorable and essentially hot water (we did let the tea leaf brew for 5-10 minutes and stirred the tea pot before pouring). The latte was made by the fabulous bartender / barista. The toilets are also very far away, so if you are disabled this may be a struggle. There are also stairs to get into the place, and stairs down to the eating part so please do bear this in mind if you are a wheelchair user or struggle with stairs. Overall, it was a somewhat disappointing experience as I was very excited to come here for my birthday.

I used to work for this company previously, the refurbishment of the Queens Hotel in Leeds is absolutely perfect. The staff are exceptional apart from the level of service I have worked in five star hotels and Harrods in Knightsbridge so I am aware of how prompt and specific attention to detail should be in this supposedly exceptional hotel. I have to manage on government benefits so the meal at this hotel was supposed to be very special for me. My mother has just passed away and I sort of needed the company and reassurance. I had to ask for salt and pepper for my table and considering that the restaurant was completely empty apart from myself the level of service was not really complementary to the establishment. All my food was cooked perfectly even though the portions at extortionate prices were reasonably small. But I used to work in the catering industry when times were very different to now. I have had a meal just as good at a French restaurant in town where the level of service was a great deal better and they were really busy at the time that I ate there. I am sort of really disappointed because I used to work at the Queens Hotel the same company in London at the Meriden.
