It’s a Sam Smiths pub so no mobiles allowed. But if you can live with that then it’s quite a nice little pub. They have a separate games room which has pool and darts. Would go back if ever in the area. Friendly bar lady.

A nice welcoming pub. We could only sit outside because our group had dogs. It's a Sam smiths pub, so it had stout and mild on draft at giveaway prices. What's not to love.

I came back to visit my family and popped in for a pint. Couldn't believe the cheap prices and a wonderful pint. Other drinkers were friendly and welcoming. It's what pubs used to be and still should be. Yes theres no mobiles in a Sam Smiths pub and thank goodness for that. Well done and keep it up. I'll pop in again when Im next up!

The landlord must be a control freak as posted all over the bar were notices stating the pub is a mobile free zone. Even the beer mats have a little message for new comers it was almost like this is a local pub for local people attitude. Bar maid asked me to put away my phone or drink up and leave. I drank up and left never to return. But not before passing on the opinion the landlord must be a total prick.

Got stranded in this village, 100+ miles from home, and we ended up at this pub, they brought us in, they were very friendly and hospitable, the locals were something else, I've seldom met such friendly people, can't thank these people enough for their hospitality

Tried to give no stars. Stinks of sour beer. Web site lies about the food and atmosphere, which is toxic. Could not see any evidence of serving food yet pretty pictures on site. Drinkers from tap room had been let into the best room so very unfriendly. Avoid unless your need for alcohol is overwhelming.

I visited this bizarre place with a colleague given that I had been at the Boston Spa British Library reading rooms. It is one of the least hospitable places to which I have ever been. The staff member, possibly "landlady: - God knows - was so rude that it could have been a comedy sketch. The entire feeling of the place was that if one is not a "local" or what have you, one is not welcome. I didn't eat (for which I was chastised - yeah don't worry about welcoming new custom) but there were THREE menu options! The only clientele, and I of course don't criticise them for it, is octogenarians, it seems. I was treated with disdain and the ONLY positive I can summon regarding this rude and scummy establishment is that the WIFI connection was okay.

Stopped at this pub whilst indulging in Boston Spa's finer establishments when house hunting in the area. With the sun beaming down on a late summer's day, on the largely empty car park towards the rear, I was greeted with a mild heckle from the landlady (I use this term loosely) along the lines of 'what you doing parkin' there mate?'. Shocked by her attitude towards new custom, I had only just begun to take note of her unkept attire and somewhat uncanny resemblance to Frank Gallagher. One can only assume that the Fox & Hounds is in fact The Jockey in disguise. The collection of faces in the window were enjoying the afternoon entertainment of turning away custom, however I was unable to validate this theory due to being shouted at again from the Jockey, sorry Fox & Hound, steps with the same moronic phrase. Easily one of Boston Spa's more memorable public houses, and I sincerely hope Karen and co have a wonderfully successful season of heckling ahead serving truly abysmal Sam Smith products, with a smile of course next time, Karen.

On visiting this quaint country pub we found a good selection of ales and the food was the added excellent bonus. Prior to your food you are given a wooden plank with chunks of homemade bread with both butter and oil. My wife to start had the tempura prawns which she said were succulent. I had the mussels which tasted very fresh. We both had the braised beef with a red win chou. This was superb. The meal was served with fresh crisp vegetables. Highly recommend.

Came here on Friday 18/11/16 with my brother for a ride out from Seacroft in Leeds on the 770 bus just for a change. We fell in love with the pub from the minute we walked in. Always loved Sam Smiths beer and especially the extra stout and as usual not only a well kept drop but always cheap. Loved the big open spacious lounge and with it been a Friday lunchtime it was fairly quiet. We decided to try the tap room side and loved it even more. We got talking to a regular who was the only one in there and got into a really lovely conversation about pubs and local places. Was made to feel very welcome ine the couple of hours we were there and just our type of pub real old fashioned pub with no gimmicks. Will start to make the journey more often in future if you will have us. Really good day.

A large group of friends (17 of us), some with children, met up for a meal on a Tuesday evening. We were asked to prebook our food choice. The one member of staff who looked after us tried hard but was let down by the kitchen. Meals did not turn up, mine was burnt to the point I could not even cut into it. I have eaten here before and had an average meal, they let themselves down this time.

We have been using the Fox and Hounds now, probably once every 2 or 3 months over the past four or so years and it has never failed to delight us. The atmosphere and service is friendly and attentive, the cost ( especially the early bird) is more than reasonable and the food is great. We heartily recommend it.

First impressions count and our first impression here was good. A cosy, warm eatery perfect for a blustery evening. The young waitress that greeted us was pleasant; however service was a little slow and our young waitress seemed a little inexperienced. We received apologies for the delay in taking our order but as we were offered more of the delicious home made tomato and rosemary bread, we were content to wait. The Bread was served with both butter and an oil and Balsamic mix which had parmesan cheese added. Excellent when like us you have one who likes to dip and one who prefers to spread on butter. The menu is little limited but still a good range of choice. My partner ordered a goats cheese and pear tart tartin. This was lovely, sweet from the pears and red onions a perfect marriage as it offset salty goats cheese. I could see he resented letting me have a taste as it meant less for him. I opted for the Beetroot Pavlova which sounded intriguing. Pickled beetroot, cream cheese, fresh leaves, mozarella, beetroot puree & beetroot meringue. Unfortunately, It didn't quite live up to my expectations. The beetroot was undercooked and the meringue lacked any beetroot flavour and was just too sweet. It just didn't work. For mains my husband went for the cajun spiced sirloin. He was delighted with his 'well done' steak. The meat was tender and well seasoned. It didn't need quite as thick a coating of spices and would have benefited from mixed leaves to replace the rocket topped with parmesan. Otherwise he declared it a winner. I ordered the beef Wellington which was served rare. If you prefer you meat cooked more then if you order this you may need to say so. The meat and the filling was delicious; the beef melted in your mouth. It needed a little more sauce served on the side. It's sad that thepastry let it down; It needed to be a little crisper; perhaps a little longer in the oven. The daupanoise were lovely though. A good good choice of veg too, really lovely sugar snap peas, the cabbage and collinear were good too; but the carrots were the wrong side of al-dente. We finished off with an Assiette to share for dessert. There was plenty of it too. Again almost excellent. I make a mean Lemon Possett myself so I do critique other's efforts. On this occassion this lemon offering did not make the grade. It was too sour; It needed more sugar and/or less lemon. A final plug for the house red though which was excellent and very reasonably priced. We would go again, we would recommend and we felt we got value for money.

We have had a few meals there recently. The quality and presentation is very good but it does not justify the prices! It is a pub that charges high end prices for just good food. Unless it is a gastro pub in disguise. Not great value for money.
