Had a 3 course Sunday lunch, food was lovely and a good price

Visited here on a Saturday as visiting a friend in the village. A proper throwback to traditional boozers, which is a great thing. Service at the bar was quick and friendly with the small range of beers on offer priced reasonably. They also had "pub dogs" which makes any pub a million times better automatically.

Lovely pub/restaurant. The food from the restaurant at the back in absolutely delicious 😋 100% recommend for drinks and a meal out

Superb meal at Maisha Spice in the Mexborough Arms, Thorner with family to celebrate my other half's 50th Birthday. Chuton and his staff were really friendly and attentive and the food was amazing - even catering for a non-curry eater with a great sirloin steak! Great unexpected touch at the end of the meal with a birthday cake. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back.

Visited the Indian restaurant Miasha Spice. I would suggest making a reservation as it's soon filled up up (30 people) lots of takeout and deliveries took place while we were there. Access is through the front door of the pub the restaurant is compact and bijou in the conservatory at the rear staff are attentive and polite quality is good prices average we will return thank you!

New management trying so hard and succeeding. This pub was the centre of village life and the way they are going it will be so again. Great food, great ale and not priced to rip you off.

Went for a curry with friends. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff and lots of choice. The sharing platter as starter was delicious with good portions. I had the Chicken Korma for my main course which again was delicious. Very reasonably priced. Can't wait to visits again soon.

Disappointed, customers allowed to stand at the bar without masks ! Get a grip management !

Lovely welcome from the landlady. Small menu but plenty of choice. I had pulled beef chili which was full of flavour, husband had beef en croute which he was totally impressed. We did the eat out to help out but would visit without this offer. Would recommend a visit for food.

Had an early dinner there with children and grandchildren. Super! Good reasonably priced food and very friendly and helpful staff. Located in the pretty village of Thorner.

Just arrived home after having our valentines meal the meal was delicious the food well cooked and presented the waiting staff very courteous and attentive a fabulous night we will Definatly be back next year

Hoy fuimos a cenar al día de Navidad, cuando fuimos al pub era festivo y estaba bellamente decorado. El ambiente era bullicioso y estaba muy ocupado, sin embargo, nos sirvieron nuestras bebidas de forma rápida y eficiente y nos dieron un chupito de vodka gratis. . Nos llevaron al conservatorio donde estaban dispuestas las mesas. Estuvieron muy bien puestos muy festivos con galletas, etc. Aunque estaba muy ocupado, los entrantes pronto salieron, cada uno recibió la comida correcta, toda nuestra comida fue absolutamente deliciosa, sin falta. Había porciones generosas pero no demasiado cara, estaba muy bien presentado y sabía encantador. El servicio fue excelente, el personal muy eficiente, amable, servicial pero no dominante. Sheila, la encantadora casera, estaba atenta y nuestra hermosa camarera Levi no pudo hacer lo suficiente por nosotros. Nos lo pasamos de maravilla y no dudaríamos en recomendar cenar en este establecimiento para una ocasión especial.

Called in by chance today and what a wonderful surprise...We decided to stay and have Sunday lunch, and are we glad we did. Three of us ordered lamb and my husband ordered beef, the meat was cooked to perfection.The Yorkshire puddings were home made and delicious, vegetables were cooked just how I like them. And on top of all this a free desert!! if you ordered Sunday lunch, we ordered the crumble it was beautifully present with fresh berries on the side. Congratulations to the cook we will certainly be back.

We’ve just spent a wonderful evening at the Mexborough Arms. The food was great - sensible portion sizes! - and the entertainment was fabulous. We turned up with friends and two dogs and were made very welcome. We joined in the quiz night and were then treated to bingo too. The food was tasty and the desserts were delicious. But the atmosphere was the icing on the cake. Sheila is a fabulous landlady and host - what a great evening.

Paid 10.55 for fish and chips, only got 8 chips, very disappointed.

Love this place! With a family if 5 it's hard to find some pub lunch whilst the kids keep occupied. But we found the one! Football net so make sure to bring a football! Park and even a bouncy castle! The food was great and the staff there are absolutely lovely. Lovely outdoor area that the sun catches perfectly! Nice chilled out environment and the children kept busy! 5*

This is a family friendly pub. Some games such as adaptations of Family Fortune keep the atmosphere lively. A menu adds to the evening. Try the steak and chips but of course there are other options available. The variety of drinks include lagers, ales, cider, and even spirits just as you would expect in a village pub. The Coca-Cola comes from the pump either as regular or large. On a busy day, it appears to be somewhat crowded, ideal if you want an animated environment. Staff were friendly when I visited.

Superb pub in Thorner one of east Leeds' out of the way excellent upmarket villages, with 3 pubs the Mexborough being the largest, nice cosy bars good beer, and a nice welcome, similar story at the Fox futher up Main St. And both much better than the pub cum restaurant the Beehive which tries to be more City centre than rural, doesn't work, the Mexborough and Fox are equally good.

Just returned from a really good night at this friendly well run village pub.Delicious well cooked food and lovely well kept bar. Lived in the village 30 years - never been so disappointed at the service as I was Sunday . Good food but wow shocking service and overcharged by £10 - several people asking for food to come in takeaway tubs as was so late they needed to be elsewhere . You’ve lost a local customer

What a find, a lovely country pub, minutes from motorway links yet hidden in the picturesque village of Thorner. We stopped for lunch and were very impressed not only with the delicious food but the friendly service we received from the staff...been twice already and we will be going again soon

We have just returned from a fantastic meal at the Mexborough Arms. Fantastic service, friendly staff staff who couldn’t do enough for us, and all the food was excellent. Highly recommend the home made lasagna! The garden was great and my son loved the play area and bouncy castle. Thank you to the team for a wonderful evening, we can’t wait to come back!

Staff are very helpful, a lovely little dog snuggle area and my doggie was given biscuits by friendly staff. For me,there was a limited vegan menu, not very nice jacket potato and beans or burger but my mum liked her steak pie and mash.

We were visiting Thorner for a family wedding. The evening prior to the wedding 4 of us headed into the village for something to eat, and we spotted the Mexborough Arms. What a fabulous friendly welcome we had - from staff and locals! The food we had was delicious (beef stroganoff especially) and we were invited to join in the quizzes - which we did - scoring a sorry 31/60! A great atmosphere in this pub, and if they did accommodation - we would stay there too!

Pleasant enough. Barmaid run off her feet. Meal I ordered never arrived when I had to leave as I was driving for a wedding party. Full refund offered without any hitch.

Another excellent evening courtesy of Shiela and Lee. Beautifully decked out room and very attentive service. Lucy, the new chef produced an amazing lamb starter and the best salmon steak I've had, with a superb honey sauce. The food at the Mexborough has really found its way. I can highly recommend you eat here.

We booked an early evening table here before going to a concert at The Victory Hall (what a cute venue that was).

Excellent service, warm & friendly atmosphere. Although we didn’t eat on this occasion, the food that was being delivered to the table opposite looked great. We will be calling in to eat next time.

Service could be slow if there's a big group but good is worth waiting for. It's very good value for money and would definitely recommend it.

Delicious and excellent value fish and chips this evening. Light and crispy batter with perfectly cooked fish. I had fish and chips at a well known and reviewed Whitby restaurant recently...and fish and chips in the Mexborough is better quality and value!! Thank you.

The food was delicious. I had mushroom risotto and it was amazing, the best I've had. The staff were friendly and polite. Will definitely be returning.

Lovely meal here last weekend as part of private birthday function

This was the first time of coming here and it was for a family party. Not only had they made out the conservatory into a beautiful party venue but they provided personal meeting and greeting for each guest with a glass of fizz on arrival. Once 40+ guests had been given a glass and shown to there seats they then started bringing out the food. It was a three course meal and each was as lovely as the next. All the food was of a high class restaurant and we all were amazed at the quality and quantity of food in a pub! They managed to serve all 40+ guests hot amazing food with not one single complaint! Even the desserts were out of this world. Throughout the night all the staff were attentive friendly and just gave us all a fantastic evening. I am already looking forward to going back and myself and many of the family will be visiting here more often! Thank you for holding such an amazing party and making it special for all the guests as well as the birthday girl

We came here on a Sunday afternoon for a family meal. The pub was relatively busy and unfortunately someone had called in sick and there was only one person in the kitchen so we had to wait a while for our food but when it came most of our party were happy with what they had. We had some in the group who had the roast dinner which came with a free desert which made it excellent value.

Went out for an unplanned evening as we stumbled across this lovely village pub. We were informed by the friendly barmaid that it was Taco Tuesday night which included a free drink with our meal. I opted for the Spicey Chicken Burrito, this was very tasty. I would definitely recommend it as you won't be disappointed.

We were a large group and it was Mother's Day, yet the staff still managed to make us all feel welcome and relaxed. The food was lovely and the portions were very generous. I'm sure that we'll be back to enjoy more of the Mexborough hospitality.

Brilliant village pub .used to play darts in the pub a few years ago

Pleasantly surprised by this village pub. Quiet when we went in but ordered some food and were served by a girl who had a lovely manner with her. The hand written signs and info on a large chalk board gives the impression that they’re trying hard to involve the community, which I though was great!

Really great food WHEN it arrived but it took over 45mins to arrive... Even the children's meals which was such a shame, Because it took so long the children had gotten fed up and difficult to entertain especially the 1 year old. We went here to celebrate a birthday and although the food was good the evening was stressful and not enjoyable because of the wait. We would have ordered desserts and coffees but didn't have the time in the end.

Visited this homely village pub last Sunday for the first time. Me and my partner both opted for the Sunday dinner as it included a free desert, however it was huge and so we couldn’t manage to eat the deserts. The chicken was delicious and the beef was very tender. I very much look forward to visiting the wonderful pub and lovely staff again soon. I'll be sure to tell my friends and family about this welcoming pub.

I went for an 80th birthday party and was very disappointed with the Staff, there was a buffet and the chicken on the table was bloody, this could have made somebody really ill and the Staff didn't seem bothered at all and just said it had been in the oven on the correct temperature - obviously NOT or it wouldn't have been bloody?. Then I went to the bar to buy some sweets for my Niece from the Charity ones but the man behind the bar offered some that they sold and as it happens my Niece decided on them so the Charity was scuppered - nice! So overall not a pleasant experience at all.

Lovely meal,excellent value and friendly staff. In a great location with lots of choices on the menu. I would give it 5/5. Thank you we will visit again.
