The best restaurants serving British food in West Midlands

My family and I booked christmas dinner at the George, and whilst expensive, it didn't disappoint. The portion sizes were huge. The only criticism was that whilst we like our veg still looking and tasting like veg, the sprouts were seriously undercooked, so much so that we just couldn't eat them. It's like they were literally dropped in boiling water, then served. They were so hard, my daughter couldn't eat them. We asked for another portion that were softer, but sadly, these were just as hard. The special requirements were followed to the letter and the service was outstanding.

Tomó unos 15 minutos en la cola antes de ser servida , la chica en la caja también estaba haciendo cafés lo que hizo que el servicio fuera muy lento . Nos sentamos con nuestros cafés y mi esposa hizo una pausa, pero luego comenzó con su sándwich mientras esperaba mi panini. ¡Ahora un panini, que ya estaba hecho, solo necesita calentamiento! ¿Cómo puede tomar más de 20 minutos? Mi esposa había terminado su sándwich y café y fue a mirar alrededor de la tienda mientras yo estaba sentado esperando mi comida, yo perseguí mi orden, al igual que un par de otras personas, yo podría entender si el lugar estaba lleno, pero no estaba particularmente ocupado .. con 3 o 4 empleados trabajando el servicio debería ser mucho mejor .. comida cuando finalmente llegó estaba bien, pero para ese momento yo ciertamente no lo estaba !

We visited with family who live in the village, and joined the very well run and attended pub quiz. The Tarrington Arms is not a generic renovated pub, instead it retains it's original if slightly faded character, which adds to it's charm. It is also a friendly pub both in terms of staff and locals of all ages. A range of local beers and ciders are stocked, including real ales.

Popular public house on outskirts of city. Wide menu choice. Real ales available. Service is friendly and good. Food is good and portions are good. Well worth a visit.

I had the task of organising a celebratory birthday meal for 24 people and chose the Lakeview Restaurant at Calderfields Golf and Country Club. We attended Friday 19 April. The staff, Liam and Chris were wonderful, they were professional and polite to everyone and they did a great job of looking after us all, nothing was too much trouble. Also compliments to the Chef and the kitchen staff, the food was amazing and served hot, people who ordered steak said it was cooked to their liking, a great effort from everyone getting food out on time to 24 of us, well done everyone concerned you are a great asset to the club. Everybody had a great evening and we all said we would definitely go again and have a Sunday carvery in the near future

Fish was so awful tonight, it turned my stomach, it was completely inedible. Yellow/beige colour, rubbery and tasted awful. Have been visiting this chippy for years but lately it's gone downhill, fish and chips are very hit and miss. To pay their extortionate prices and have to throw your tea in the bin is disgusting. Will not be going there again.

The menu was poor, their had been no changes since we stayed last year. My husband ordered the risotto, he didn't expect to have to pull sticks of heards out of his meal.

Mira, honestamente no soy una persona difícil de complacer. Sólo denme la bienvenida, sirvan mi bebida y cárguenme correctamente. Sin embargo, me temo que después de nuestra experiencia en College Arms la otra semana estoy cometiendo herejía rock ‘n’ roll al estar en desacuerdo con Meatloaf — porque ‘dos de cada tres’ en realidad es malo. Parece un pub local para la gente local. No tendrán extraños (o problemas) aquí. A pesar de vivir localmente durante años, no sé cómo desbloquear el nivel de servicio de hospitalidad básica de College Arms. ¿Un apretón de manos secreto te ayuda a subir de nivel, o necesitamos recoger 12 sellos de fidelidad? Supongo que ahora no importa, porque las primeras impresiones lo significan todo y después de nuestra incómoda primera experiencia el otro día no tendremos la costumbre de pasar regularmente. ¿Recuerdas esos viejos westerns cuando el extraño entra en el bar y el pianista deja de tintinear instantáneamente los marfiles? ¿Todos los clientes callan y lentamente giran la cabeza para mirar a la nueva clientela, mientras se desplazan torpemente en sus asientos? Era así, pero con un piso de piedra, chimenea abierta y techos con vigas. La única manera de que hubiera sido más incómodo o territorial era si los habituales hubieran comenzado a rociar libremente su orina alrededor de la zona del bar. El barman no ayudó en nada. Se apegó firmemente al acto de la berlina occidental como si estuviera audicionando para un spaghetti western. El contacto visual está tan pasado en 2024 , así que se instaló de lado mirándonos y sin decirnos nada más que un grosero “¿algo más?”... e incluso eso parecía dolorosamente reacio. No me malinterpretes. No esperábamos que los lugareños nos dieran una palmada en la espalda y empezaran a recibir las rondas, ni esperábamos que el camarero nos jorobara las piernas por emoción. Sin embargo, era un ambiente innecesariamente incómodo. Un simple “Hola, gracias, adiós” habría sido suficiente para traernos de vuelta, pero después de esa fría recepción, no estamos planeando una visita de regreso.

Came for lunch before hospital and my veggie pattie was freezing. Not very happy worker, a smile would be nice. A staff member came in and started work without washing her hands 🤢. Not a good place to eat at all not recommended at all.

Booked a party of 7 for a special occasion afternoon tea. Service was attentive and speedy.. The sandwiches, cakes and sides were all homemade, delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. Surrounds in cafe nicely rustic , only complaint was the room was quite chilly but realise it’s an old building and only so much can be done to heat it. Everyone enjoyed the day and cafe were happy to provide boxes for the items we couldn’t manage to eat. Highly recommend ..

It was wonderful, food was great and staff was good. Its best place to chill with your friends. best dish was franks loaded mix meat

Sausages where not cooked properly, bacon was over cooked. Egg was hard. Customer service was not the best. Definitely won't be using here again. But the time it took them to do it my break was nearly over. So had no time to eat it had to put it in the bin.

Fantastic breakfast and lovely service from the ladies at Willow and Boar this morning. I enjoyed the pancakes and the hubby had the Crumpet burger. Amazing toilets too! Thank you, we had a relaxed morning enjoying time together.

Staff sooo rude and actually even quite threatning towards me! She shouted at me because i didnt like the song the dj played snd id pulled a face!!
