My family and I booked christmas dinner at the George, and whilst expensive, it didn't disappoint. The portion sizes were huge. The only criticism was that whilst we like our veg still looking and tasting like veg, the sprouts were seriously undercooked, so much so that we just couldn't eat them. It's like they were literally dropped in boiling water, then served. They were so hard, my daughter couldn't eat them. We asked for another portion that were softer, but sadly, these were just as hard. The special requirements were followed to the letter and the service was outstanding.

Went for my daughters birthday. She had Pizza margarita royal, my husband had Pizza with Bolognese on and I had the Pork Belly. My daughters pizza was a double up of mozzarella and suprised the buffalo mozzarella was a big cold uncooked round dome in the centre of the Pizza. Perhaps it's wrong to assume that all toppings would be cooked as I had but unpalatable with a big lump of cheese in the middle. My Husband liked his Pizza with Bolognese. Mine was £19 plus. I chose the pork surrounded by crackling braised carrots on mash with herbs and a pot of gravy. The gravy tasted bought in. The mash tasted like smash or premade mash where the potatoes take on a different non fresh flavour. The crackling was good but the meat down half of it was singed and dry the other side ok. Yes I finished it but disappointed also it was supposed to have apple sauce which which if it was on there it was well hidden.

Booked in advance for a 2pm Sunday lunch for two. Arrived at 2pm, to finally be seated at 2:15pm. Not approached until 2:30pm for our drinks order. Our server went off at this point to get us the specials menu, returned, and then reeled off a list of everything that wasn’t available. One of the items on the list was the pie offered as the veggie/vegan Sunday lunch option. We are both vegetarian and so asked what the alternative would be. We were told that there wasn’t an alternative but that they were serving pizzas and there was a veggie burger on the main menu. This simply isn’t good enough after we’d driven for half an hour and then waited for another half an hour in the restaurant. We weren’t even offered the drinks we’d ordered to make up for it. That’s it for us and The George. We left, went to The Queens, and had an amazing three course, home made veggie lunch with drinks for £75.

My husband and I had a meal and drinks at this new venue today - I had the 8oz rump steak and hubby had the house burger. My husband said the burger was delicious but I just wanted to give a huge thanks to the chef that cooked my steak. I asked for it blue- but have never had such a perfectly cooked ( in the loosest term!) steak. It was without doubt one of the nicest steaks I have ever eaten. Given that and the lovely friendly staff and relaxed vibe- this is, and will be our favourite place to visit when in Ludlow.

Today was my first time visiting The George, and I must say that the steak was delicious, the personnel was professional and kind, and the decor was sleek and contemporary. Extremely impressed, and I will definitely return 100%

Staff were pleasant but service was dreadfully slow, it took well over an hour to get served on a Wednesday lunch time. Other table arriving after us got served before us. A third of my mussels were broken, the sourdough bread so hard it was uneatable.

Selected by the menu in the window we went in to have a lunch during our visit to Ludlow. We sat at a table in the bar not realising there was a restaurant at the rear - a very nice and comfortable restaurant. After 10 minutes of not seeing anyone we got up to leave and then discovered the restaurant. I am glad we did. Warm atmosphere and good service. Drinks and nibbles soon arrived and we enjoyed two tasty, well presented mains. The choice of food was good, a nice smattering of Mediterranean and Levantine dishes. All in all a good choice and worth trying. Look for the Lebanese lamb! I enjoy being able to chefs work and to be able to thank them personally.,

My family and I meet up in Ludlow every couple of months, we look forward to these meet ups. Today we decided to try The George, all newly fitted out and very trendy. The young lady who showed us to our table was very polite, telling us breakfast was only served until 11am but they would still be able to offer us breakfast as it had just turned 11am and lunch/ brunch didn't start until mid day, my Aunty asked if she could view the lunch menu and was told once again quite rudely it wasn't served until mid day, but we still wanted to view it. So eventually we were given this menu, we ordered drinks, 2 teas and 2 coffees , we all decided we would order the Cumberland sausage with a hashbrown in bun from the breakfast menu, it was presented on a tea plate, when we began to eat we discovered the hashbrowns were still frozen, and the sausage was cold! We informed another waitress and she oppologise and said she would send a fresh plate of hashbrowns, when they arrived they were swimming in grease. So by this time we had given up on the food completely. We ordered some more drinks as we had come here to catch up with each other, 2 glasses of wine 1 tea and 1 coffee. 2 members of our party fancied another glass of wine, only to be told they had none left!! This is laughable! We were then told that the food would be deducted from our bill, I should think so to, I work in the food industry and to let frozen food be served to a customer is absolutely shocking , I advise getting your staff some probes so they can insure the food is cooked in future. Such a shame as it all looks so lovely but what a let down.

So disappointed! How we wished the lady at the door had told us they were full. Period! The glass fronted restaurant was full but were told that a table in the bar area was available. We took the offer. I ordered Spaghetti Vongole, brother in law fish and chips and two ladies ordered pizza. Eventually, the fish and chips arrived followed by my pasta dish. The fish was ok apparently, but my pasta was as cold as if the chef had left it on a doorstep. I had asked whether the chips were homemade or not. The affirmation they were indeed homemade swayed my decision to order. The chips came! White, chunky, FROZEN. These were colder than the pasta. The lady who had the marinara pizza also wanted her chips reheated. My pasta and both chips came back. Obviously chucked into the microwave (same half used lemon still on plate). The chips had been submersed into the hot oil again and had soaked up at least a pint of oil. They were mahogany brown with oil inside rather than potato. Please instruct your staff that homemade is nothing similar to home fried. #Vile. The other three opted for dessert.....by the time they arrived, the staff said they were on the house as the waiting time had been too long. I went to the bar to pay; a barmaid told me to move further doen the bar in order for her to take my payment. I did and she immediately went to serve drinks! The wait at the bar was also long, so I went back to the table to carrying on listening to the drunks behind us. Eventually, a barman came and took my card details. I could not wait to leave the noisy place. As I stated, how I WISH the lady at the door hadnt informed us they were full, we could have opted to eat elsewhere on our last night in Ludlow

First time at The George - won’t be the last. We had bruschetta, halloumi chips, two beetroot wellingtons, a sticky toffee pudding and a mango sundae. The beer was good and so was the wine, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. We had a perfect afternoon!

My teenage son and I had lunch here as a special treat for the last day of school holidays. The atmosphere is lovely, decor and staff are great, staff in particular were courteous, very busy but efficient. I ordered smashed avocado with poached egg and specially asked for the chilli to be left off. My son ordered fish and chips. Were were promotly served with the drinks we had ordered and the food came out relatively fast. However, my dish had chilli all over it (I thought it was capsicum at first so did not send back) and my sourdough was burnt. My son said his fish was dry and the chips (fries for me and chunky for him) were also dry and clearly just frozen chips. For an establishment the calibre of The George and for the prices we paid I was expecting better quality food. It wasn't crowded, outside was busy and lots of tables filled inside but there were still tables. Lots of staff. I am not sure if the problem was in relaying the message to the chef about no chilli or if the kitchen staff ignored it. Either way, disappointing and they should not have plated up burnt soughdough. We will give it another go but disappointed that our first visit was a bit of a downer because of the food. I'm sorry to report that the first revoew of this place is somewhat negative. I am so excited for Ludlow to have a cool place like The George to take visitors to and relax with a wine, it really is a lovely place to be, just the food quality needs improving!

We were highly recommended to try The Acton out. We left rather disappointed. The decor, which we assume a refurb was done recently, was befitting the offerings that the operators were trying to achieve through their kitchen. Tastefully done. The service was excellent and tentative. Regretfully the food was well overpriced for what was served especially the starters. The other issue was the sequence of the food coming out. Due to them have a separate pizza area off the main kitchen the mains came out at totally different time and my wife had finished her pizza before my daughters and mine came out. The chefs need to sort these comms out between tha main pass and the pizza section. I do believe however that it has potential as it is noticeable through the menu creation

We were recommended this cafe and we weren’t disappointed. My husband and I had the ‘Chocks Away’ full English and as the delivery guy hadn’t been yet we had home made hash browns which were fabulous, and the eggs were double yolkers. Our friends had scrambled eggs on toast and had mounds! Highly recommend this place and the view was great.
