Just when you think a restaurant can't get any better, the action steps up and blows you out of the water with its ever-changing à la carte menu that keeps punching you in the face with flavor and creativity in every bite. If you haven't been, you're truly missing out on an extraordinary dining experience. Just what the area needs. Well done to all the Acton team. Whatever the management did a few months back, keep doing it. You clearly have a team with some amazing talent.

Came here as a change and fancied somewhere outside of Bridgnorth and had heard good things about the Acton Arms and me and my friend decided to try it for ourselves! We had a table booked and we were greeted by such a friendly and welcoming team who showed us to our table and have to say that the whole restaurant is well laid out, tables well spaced and very comfy seats! Menus brought over and you can choose from the day to day menu as well as the Ala Carte menu, which doesn't have lots of choice but I personally think if there are a few dishes they are dishes well done as opposed to lots of choice which I find can mean the menu is overwhelming and not always as good. Myself and my friend opted for the same dishes, pig cheek starter which was the best starter I have EVER had, followed by the lamb. Absolutely phenomenal. We then did have a dessert and we had the chocolate fondue and the ice cream selection. Again, just sublime. I would and will recommend this restaurant to all my family and friends. We are planning to come back in November as we were so impressed. This is how to run a restaurant, nothing too much trouble for a lovely team. Thanks to everyone for such an enjoyable evening - this could well be my new favourite restaurant! If you are thinking of booking - do it! You won't be disappointed.

Amazing food! Honestly one of the best meals. Great service also. Justine who served our food was very very lovely. Would 100% go again. Dog friendly in the bar area which was great for us and a table was saved when we phoned up and enquired.

Spotted this place as we were driving home and decided to pop in to see if they had a table free for Sunday lunch. Lovely warm greeting and they found us a table. Ordered 2 roast beef lunches and soup to start. The fresh tomato soup was delicious and plentiful served with lovely olive bread. The beef dinners were beautifully cooked and well presented. Real Yorkshire puddings and plenty of seasonal vegetables and potatoes. Very attentive staff and a nice atmosphere. Will definitely return.

Stopped off here on a day trip out with my mom. I'd been meaning to try it for some time and it was certainly worth the wait. The food was excellent ( we both had the superb haddock and chips and then the quite brilliant white chocolate and honey panna cotta), the restaurant well decorated and laid out and the washrooms were absolutely spotless. The service was faultless (with a shout out to Ben) and everything was served on stoneware crockery with cloth napkins; a quality experience all round. My mom, who used to do pub catering herself before retiring, summed it up when asked about her experience: "Absolutely brilliant. You couldn't wish for better." We'll definitely be back next time we're out that way.

My Aunt absolutely loves this place so being relatively new to the area, we decided to give it a try. Each of us had the beer battered haddock and chips and found them to be overly greasy and overpriced, as were the onion rings my hubby ordered. I thought that 5.90 for a shandy and almost a fiver for a Coke that was just over the amount you would get in a can was a bit much. All in all we found it to be a bit pretentious and expensive. I was really looking forward to it too!!

Very poor.. we had been looking forward to trying out the Acton. Service was very poor … more smiles would be welcome. Food bought to us no cutlery or condiments and then had to ask again for drinks order that had been forgotten. Beef was very poor chewy gristly and tough. Had to ask twice to pay. Sadly won’t be back soon.

Having ordered a Roast Beef Sunday dinner we were expecting Beef that was pink in the centre and tender. However the Beef was as tough as old boots! We couldn’t cut it let alone chew it! Having reported this to the waiter we were told that they would report this back to the chef. A few minutes later we were informed that we could have another drink to compensate for the inedible Beef! Absolutely awful!!! A word of advice ‘ 3 x people who complain that your Beef is inedible means that your Beef is in fact no good!!!! We will not return ever again!

We were very impressed by the refurbished premises. What was once a cold and old fashioned restaurant is now bright, toasty and modern with both central heating and log fires blazing. A bubbly and friendly young lady behind the bar welcomed us (she was also to be our waitress) and we were seated shortly afterwards by a male staff member and presented with menus for starters, sharers, mains and puddings. We only wanted a light lunch so stuck with the main menu. There were several pizza choices, burgers, and a handful of other mains. On seeing the pizzas being brought out from the special pizza oven area, me and my daughter were sold on having those, whilst my husband chose the fish and chips with a side of rustic bread (they didn’t offer normal sliced bread). We were warned the fish was large - no problem for hubby(!) and our request for extra butter but no oil/vinegar for the bread was noted - the waitress agreed it was the best way to have it - ha ha! The pizzas were perfect! Hot, light and crispy with plenty of toppings, large enough for leftovers to take home or to share between two for lighter appetites. The fish (haddock) and chips was also a massive portion served with crushed sweet and flavourful peas instead of stodgy mushy ones. The fish was flaky and moist and chips were lovely too. The bread was served hot and crusty with lashings of lovely butter topped with salt crystals. Sadly, no room for puddings; next time!!! The place was quite busy considering it was 2pm on a Friday and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. There were also a couple of dogs in the entrance/bar area so obviously they are welcome too. I’ve only just seen the negative reviews and it seems like a different experience entirely to that which we had? Were we just lucky or were they unlucky? I don’t know, but we will be back again so time will tell and I’ll update accordingly if necessary. I, for one, wish them all the best as it seems to be a great asset to have in a local area that has no other options for food/drink.

We’ve visited a few times and we really like the refurbished pub. The wine is good and the beer seems to be kept well. We’ve eaten here too. The only feedback I would give is that the staff seem to spend a lot of time glued to their phones by the glass washer. It’s off putting as you walk in. Admittedly it’s a few years since I waited on tables but there was a definite no phones on the floor rule. You end up feeling like you’ve interrupted them.

What should have been a lovely Sunday lunch with friends was spoilt by the fact we were all freezing cold. The draught from the door left us all with very cold ankles and feet. Don't bother - unless there are only two of you or you really enjoy a non-sensical discussion with a manager who doesn't to want to run a successful customer focused business! Bizarre, illogical, seating policy in force, by order of the owners that is as far from customer friendly as you can get. You can't book a table during the week and they won't allow you to move tables together nor add additional seats to empty tables. You'll just have to wait until a table becomes free that can seat everyone in your party... Utter lunacy. There were loads of tables for four people free when we arrived but we were categorically told we couldn't use them because we were a party of five! Whilst we waited another family of five arrived and were told the same so they promptly and sensibly left. There were 16 spare seats at 6 empty tables and no reservations (can't book remember!) at that time... Go figure! It appears as though it's a deliberate ploy to make the business fail but why? It's a lovely little local that's had a substantial refurbishment after lying empty for a few years and has a lot of potential. The hospitality trade has suffered badly during the last few covid years so the Acton's policies seem even more peculiar. Pizzas and burgers are hardly difficult dishes to get wrong so whilst the food was certainly ok ( but who puts 34 olives in a single Caesar Salad?) I'm sorry to say I can't see the business surviving for long unless they change their policies. The bar staff were embarrassed and hugely apologetic about the whole farce and I wish them well when they need to look for new jobs because the manager has successfully ruined a potentially great little business. Maybe the small housing development behind the pub is the real reason they want it to fail..?

Lovely refurbishment, having said that we didn’t visit previously but the place is well done. Phoned to book a table and was advised just to walk in and a table would be sorted, we did and it was. Food was excellent, nicely presented and reasonably priced. Vibe was busy but not rushed, the staff coped well and were on hand if needed. I had the Bombay pizza which was very good and very big, my partner had the Camembert which was met with delight. Well worth a visit , enough said.

We live locally and this was the first chance we’ve had to visit the Acton since its refurb. We weren’t disappointed. The Sunday lunch was amazing. Generous portions with a lovely selection of veg, an enormous Yorkshire pudding and the meat (we had lamb and beef) was so tender and sliced really thickly. Customer service was excellent. Really friendly and welcoming staff. I’ve read the more negative reviews but put them down to teething troubles. We will definitely be visiting again both with friends and on our own. Great experience.

A random stop for lunch on a journey up to Shrewsbury which turned out to be a good choice. There were enough people eating there to give it a decent atmosphere though physically the place felt physically chilly ( hence 4, not5!). Our order was taken promptly and drinks quickly arrived. Not a large menu which was no bad thing and we could see into the pizza oven seeing food freshly produced. Our order arrived quickly, well cooked, well presented and tasty, Decent value for money. Service was good throughout. The decor showed there had been a big investment recently. A one off visit but a very good one.

Bit confused with the seating policies here....when they 1st opened and only did pizza it was ok to walk in as a large family of 10 on plenty of occasions as they didn't take bookings...then not long after bookings were only taken for Sunday lunch, then when they introduced the bar menu they wouldn't accept bookings for any amount of people as they didn't want people booking as they may be disappointed with a limited menu...then tonight we walk in as 9 for a pizza and they only now only accept tables of 8 or less...can the goal posts move anymore before people aren't sure if they need to book or not or whether they'll accept the amount of diners or not. Incidentally, we were told they couldn't fit in 9 diner's anyway even though there were at least 2 tables free what looked like a 4 and 4 ???? Food has always been good but we never know if we're allowed in or not... apparently not now.

We were recommended this cafe and we weren’t disappointed. My husband and I had the ‘Chocks Away’ full English and as the delivery guy hadn’t been yet we had home made hash browns which were fabulous, and the eggs were double yolkers. Defensive manager does not value feedback! This place will therefore not improve. We visited the restaurant as believed it to be part of a good quality complex. Our arrival was greeted cheerfully and we were shown to a 2 seater table. That’s where any notion of customer service ended. My partner went up to the counter to order a starter and 2 meals…. Our drinks arrive promptly. …tick tick… 20 minutes go by. People who arrived after us start getting their meals… …tick tick… I go over and ask what’s happening. I’m told “It’s busy“ …tick tick… I ask again. “It’s busy.” More people who have subsequently come in are served. Eventually the manager (who I saw looking at tickets behind the kitchen) came over with our mains. No starter of soup. What followed was incredible! She insisted that the cock up was our fault! Apparently, the lack of soup was because she could not possibly know what was ordered, what should be a starter and how many people were at each table. That excuse would work in a service station, but we are talking about a place that charges handsome price’s commensurate with table service - but with no table service. We will never go back.

My wife & I booked a meal at The Oak Room, Albrighton Hall Hotel near Shrewsbury, as this was where we had our wedding reception - 20 years ago! The hotel looked magnificent as ever & it was great to visit this stunning venue once again. On arrival, we were greeted by Keah & Alex. Both looked after us brilliantly throughout the evening & knew that it was our wedding anniversary. Both Keah & Alex were so helpful, professional, polite & their level of customer was exceptional. Nothing was every too much trouble, whether it was asking details about the food listed on the dinner menu, taking photos for my wife & I of the evening or generally having a nice conversation about our wedding day & how lovely it was to visit again. The food was absolutely delicious & every course was very well presented. When desserts were ordered, a lovely touch from the chef & staff was an oval plate with two chocolate brownie bites upon it & the words 'Happy 20th Anniversary' underneath in chocolate sauce - wow! It truly made our evening. Thank you so very much to Keah, Alex & the chef at The Oak Room. We will certainly not wait another 20 years to visit you again, as I am sure we will be back over the coming months. Once again, thank you so very much.
