Calderfields Golf & Country Club Lakeview Restaurant in Walsall

I had the task of organising a celebratory birthday meal for 24 people and chose the Lakeview Restaurant at Calderfields Golf and Country Club. We attended Friday 19 April. The staff, Liam and Chris were wonderful, they were professional and polite to everyone and they did a great job of looking after us all, nothing was too much trouble. Also compliments to the Chef and the kitchen staff, the food was amazing and served hot, people who ordered steak said it was cooked to their liking, a great effort from everyone getting food out on time to 24 of us, well done everyone concerned you are a great asset to the club. Everybody had a great evening and we all said we would definitely go again and have a Sunday carvery in the near future

8 of us for lunch, all 8 great meals. One of the cheaper places for lunch. eg, hunters chicken £12, scampi chips £10. Good portions.

One star is for the lovely food. Poor table service, got drinks wrong, 2 courses in 2.1/4 hours,etc

In response to Dan Lowe’s response to my recent stay at calderfields, I have emailed however their must of been a mistake as I’ve thought pictures were sent. As for them asking me for another room, the guy come out with me, looked through the windows and said the rooms were all taken. I was not offered another room as if I were I would have taken it. As for pictures I sent them, but if you didn’t get them I’ll try and send them now, tv didn’t work, human faeces in toilet, and the shower head from hell.

Fantastic lunch yesterday yet again! You will find it hard to beat the Sunday Lunch at Calderfields..The food,setting and staff are all amazing , can's wait for our next visit..see you all again soon

Firstly the location and view is beautiful so I was expecting the meal to be just as good. We went for midweek lunch as a family of 3. The staff were all very nice and pleasant and attentive. Waited a least 30 minutes plus for our food to arrive so was expecting it all to be lovely and fresh. Ordered, child’s meal, 1 steak pie and 1 beef dinner. I was already disappointed before my plate was put in front of me as I notice some clingfilm stuck to the bottom of my plate which told me straight away my food had been microwaved. This was surprising considering the time we waited and that it wasn’t busy. The vegetables were the worse I have tasted. The broccoli was mushy and the peas were dried up. Carrots not cooked. Nothing on the plate was fresh. The beef was undoubtedly slices from a deli counter heated with so much gravy in the microwave to stop it drying out. The pie pastry was so mushy too which is what happens when frozen pies are microwaved. It was the first time I have been and unfortunately will be the last. I was asked as I left how our meal was and I was very honest explaining it wasn’t great and was clearly microwaved. I had paid in full and wasn’t offered the opportunity of a refund or to come back again so they could rectify which is why I have wrote this review.

The Sunday carvery is excellent but don’t bother with weekday lunch menu! Prawn cocktail- minute prawns! Not appetising at all! Simple beef burger awful! Chips ok! Beef pie with fresh Vegs! Well the pie was terrible, the vegs were frozen and mushy! Simple dishes and can’t get that right!

food was lovely, beautiful surroundings! attended a wedding which was completely stunning. would definitely recommend

There is a great Sunday carvery, midweek lunches and evening meals to suit all budgets. it is a classy, friendly venue. They pull out all the stops for special occasions, too. The quality of the food has to be sampled and then you'll be back for more.

Excellent food polite and helpful staff. Carvery was reasonably priced along with the starters and deserts. Nice views of the golf course. Would definitely recommend and have already booked for Christmas Day.
