Toby Carvery Walsall Broadway in Walsall

Been going in here for a meal for years and still as good as the first time I went in here for a meal.

Went for lunch today at Toby Walsall. Served by Rachel has always friendly, helpful highly recommend.

Food tasted lovely. Unfortunately it was barely luke warn so really let it down sadly. We enjoyed the taste but was really let down by temperature.

The food was great would 100% recommend the place to others and my server/waitress Kiera was an absolute darling always happy to help those around her did a great job. Would love to come again

Seated quickly and served fast. Jane was very friendly and helped us with everything as it was my first time.

Lovely food and great staff, unfortunately it was absolutely freezing inside and despite trying different tables the whole place was just very cold. Noticed a lot of other people eating while wearing their jackets and coats too. Shame as it ruined what would have been a great meal, don't think I'll be coming back unfortunately

Very disappointed with Toby from this location. We normally love Toby Carvery. I order 2 Tobys and they offered Sticky toffee pudding for free ( but is NOT...because they DONT send it to you! )And the slices of meat it was something very tiny, and small. I don't know how the service is for eat in but for delivery DONT try... you will pay for vegetables!🥴 I have pictures but it's not possible to submit 😕

Food very hot and enough to choose from. Servers both at carvery deck and at tables were friendly and smiling - they actually looked like they enjoyed their jobs! Which made our experience better. Improvements are very little - more meat on carvery as only getting 2 slices isn't enough, keep ontop of the gravy as it runs out quickly. But to be honest everything was great

Right by the arboretum. Food was great every time we came here. Sausage skin was a bit tough, but definately edible and still good. Tables and seats are clean, cutlery is (usually) clean, though obvious that they use dishwashers that dont always properly clean it. The plates are also clean, but can sometimes have stains from the dishwasher not properly washing it. Theres also tea and coffee available (paying for the mug) which you can help yourself to. (you need to make the drink yourself; no coffee machine) Also a soft drinks machine available (paid glass). You can help yourself to it. Overall great experience and definately coming back.

Another nice place to eat Sunday roast. During weekends they also have lamb meat

It's a really brilliant pub. Lovely atmosphere and great service! I would highly recommend this pub. The only setback is that there isn't an indoor dog friendly area. Maybe the small room and area next to this room, away from the carvery, could be a place for our four-legged friends during the colder months.

Decent enough pub, not overly busy and service was decent. Had to walk through a group of smokers and papers before entering the pub which was a bit grim. Lamb wasn't great, but the other meats were decent. Not amazing and not bad.

The customer service made this visit very enjoyable. From the people at the front desk to the servers & the carvers. The food was well cooked, hot & plentiful despite how busy the place was. The staff were friendly & all smiling even though the places was completely packed with not one empty table in the restaurant or the bar.

Massively undercooked veg ,carrots,cauliflower rock hard. could have settled for the meet being hit and miss with a carvery but veg ? how do you get that wrong. Barely any gravy to poor over the dry smash and spuds. also got mac n cheese for the kids which was just a portion of pasta with no flavour at all let alone any signs of cheese. dissapointed. won't order again. delivery was spot on though 😂

Reviewing breakfast. Normally love a Toby Carvery but we went for breakfast today.. the food wasn't bad as such. But most of it was barely even warm. I ate all of mine... but temperatures need looking at for me. A hot breakfast should be hot. Nice place, friendly helpful staff.... literally just food temperatures let it down for us

We went out for a family birthday and overall had a fun evening. Our server was excellent and handled our table with ease, even bringing over a cake and singing happy birthday to the birthday boy. The main thing that let us down with the booking is that we contacted the site before asking to be in a certain area (due to one of our party being a wheelchair user), but there seemed to be no commutation between management, as when we arrived the table that was booked originally was taken by somebody else. It seems like management needs to communicate more.

Food is reasonable but drinks are quite pricey.

My wife booked online via the Toby app and we visited The Broadway in Walsall this afternoon to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Upon arrival we joined a queue of people waiting to be seen/seated at the reception desk. After a 5 minute wait, and various members of staff walking past and ignoring us, we were finally seated. After walking past numerous empty tables we were seated in what can only be described as a walkway in front of a fire escape! Wallpaper peeling off the walls, damp visible and cobwebs hanging off the wall lights … romantic! We both chose to have the carvery and joined the queue. Seeing the turkey carcass that was left, I wasn’t filled with hope. My wife chose the turkey, I had what was left off the gammon and beef. We selected the potatoes/veg and went to our seats. The turkey turned out to be as dry as it looked, and my wife left all of it. The gammon was so chewy and the beef so fatty/stringy I struggled to chew them. Cold roast potatoes, hard peas, lumpy mash … I managed to eat the Yorkshire pudding. Only then when we stopped eating were we asked if everything was ok with our meals … clearly not! To be fair, I did get a refund for my uneaten meal, but as my wife had only left the dry turkey and eaten her veg they charged her for a vegetarian carvery! Not sure she managed to eat £10 worth of veg but hey-ho! As well as the disgusting food, you’ll get to ‘enjoy’ dirty walls, damaged seat covers, cobwebs everywhere … this place needs a bloody good clean and a refurb! Be warned!

the restaurant was late with the service, not the delivery driver. he had to weight for the food for 45 minutes. when it arrived it was cold

We had 2 lovely carvery’s at The Broadway Walsall. The pork & gammon my husband had was delicious cooked perfectly with roast potatoes and vegetables. I had gammon , Turkey. & Beef all delicious with roasters and vegetables. We had a lovely relaxing time thank you so much Toby Broadway.

late and watched the driver on his route. he went the wrong way and past our address. food was cold and we had to reheat it. but was tasty after reheat. 7 out of 10. thanks

Momma Lou is a great asset to this pub makes us feel very welcome every time we go there. Had a lovely meal at the Toby walsall. Hannah is a lovely girl nothing to much trouble for her. She is an asset to you team, very professional all ways polite and welcoming. A real pleasure to come hear. .

Had a lovely veggie carvery. Nice and quiet atmosphere during the day. Managed to get a table without booking. The service from waitress Hannah was great, unrushed and hard working staff. Would definitely come again, only draw back was mash a bit cold and would like to see the roast potatoes in meat fat labelled.

After a few hours at Walsall arboretum last Sunday we booked in for lunch here afterwards. Rachael our member of staff serving us on table 17, was serving lots of tables and did a fantastic job at making sure we were all ok and running around like a headless chicken bless her. She was fab with my son and nothing was too much trouble at all. Very friendly Toby carvery and the food was lovely. Many thanks will be back soon

17/01/2025 Taking bookings for a restraunant that was ramed to the rafters is a joke. Table not ready when we arrived, invited to bar to get drinks whilst we wait....nice move, thats another £8.70 we spent. Table for two set in middle of ramed tables, felt like lambs in a cridosile infested pond. Queue for carvery set up like a theme park...zigzag in the carvery deck area...lead to a singke line that reached all the way back to the door, thats got to be 30 or more people in the queue...felt like we were in line for school dinner, no it didnt, we left and went to local fish and chip shop, we will not return to toby carvery walsall Google will not let me give zero stars, so it gets a single one from me on this occassion What has gone wrong, here is my previous review 14th August 2024. Booked a table online for 12:40 today. Don't forget to enter your vehicle registration on the terminal at the arrival desk....I saw at least 4 reminder posters in the site so don't get upset by a £100 parking fine if you don't do a simple task. We were served by Caitlin, she is absolutely divine, a credit to the site. Caitlin made me and my wife feel that WE were the only diners at that time, even though the place was very very busy. The food was the usual great standard, I did notice just how skillful the carver was at slicing meat that thin it was transparent. Can we please adopt Caitlin?

We ended up in Walsall after our walk in Sutton Park, as the TC there has closed and Streetly's couldn't fit us in. The staff at the TC here were exceptional. Particularly our server Zach, who was very helpful and happy to help.

Food was lovely Very busy and had to get own cutlery as was having to eat in the bar area and the staff member that served us forgot to give us our cutlery Which meant food was going cold while waiting to get some It wasn’t as relaxing as sitting in bar area but we still enjoyed it Feel it’s needs a freshen up But still like the place and will go again

Food was very average, never have beef dripping roast potatoes in the week. Just plain boring ones. Service was not too bad but then again there still wasn’t enough staff to cope with the sheer amount of people coming in because it was 50% off last week. The restaurant was absolutely filthy. The booth we sat in was disgusting. The gravy station was gruesome. The veg part of the carvery and granted it is people being rough as anything and not caring, but the veg was ALL over the carvery deck and the floor. This may have been taken over by a new gaffer but Christ, have you got a lot of work to do. Clean your pub man!

Absolutely excellent service second to none couldn’t ask for anything better the carvery’s was stunning the pudding was amazing and the drinks are decent and our server Jane was lovely and very pleasant and polite

Not a good experience this time. Although the veg was up to standard the portions of meat served to my wife and I could be described as minimal/mean. Toby is marketed as a Carvery so you would expect portions of meat to be at least reasonable if not generous! Perhaps they should change their slogan to "Home of the veg"!? I appreciate that some are small eaters and wastage should be avoided. Can I suggest the carver asks "Is that OK" and serves more if asked? I have often noticed too that those asking for all the meats tend to get a lot more than those asking for just one variety. This should not be the case. To top it all the only Real Ale available was off - sour and barely drinkable. I did comment about the ale when paying but was not offered any discount or refund. I know where I can get a good choice of real ales, all in good condition and at half the price!.......

Stop in for breakfast, amazing value, who has Yorkshire pudding for breakfast? I just had a full English with toast 😋

Great Friendly service from Zach! Always tidy and clean when we visit as a family. All staff are friendly and happy to help. Food is great and the the soft drinks refill station is a bonus.

Came to get a meal with my parents and was served by Rachael. It was beautiful. The meat was gorgeous, we travel from Birmingham here because it's much nicer than the Toby's that surround us. Rachael was lovely and attentive, Very polite and informative . She's a credit to your brand.

We visited on a Sunday and the carvery was busy but service was friendly and efficient, Ayanna really looked after us. The food was lovely and as expected for a Toby Carvery. The servers on the carvery were pleasant and worked well.

On arrival, we was informed that there was no table ready, even though we had booked in advance. I asked if we could sit in the bar area as the bar was empty. We was told if we sat there, we would be charged full bar prices. The queue for the carvery was huge, even though customers was queuing almost as far back as the entrance, the chefs was doing tubs for home delivery, which held up the customers inside a lot longer. When there is a big promotion on, especially when it's 50% off, the pub is not prepared enough and never have enough staff on to cope with the demand.

Came with my husband and son on our wedding anniversary and was served by a lovely lady called Jane who was very accommodating, it was extremely busy and you could see all the staff running around to ensure things ran smoothly even when some other people were complaining all the staff kept giving excellent service and the manager on shift Lisa did an exceptional job getting people to their tables so they wasn’t waiting too long and helping clear tables to move things along quicker, we will always come back this toby carvery the food is excellent and the service even more so

Thank you for replacing mash with roasties!! Yum (I don’t eat dairy) and the Yorkshire puddings are perfect too (ie really yum)! Everything is brilliant - feeling quite satiated! (Just missed salty crackling…. where are they? just kidding-boo hoo xx

Met up with my Brother there for a post Christmas meal and found the carvery very nice. As the Broadway was the favourite carvery for my mum to go to Shelia Robinson, who passed away two years ago she loved to visit after her and Andrew (my brother) before a show at the Grange Theatre. She also celebrated Birthday and other celebrations there and on the day of the funeral the courteage slowed right down as we passed on our way to Streetly crem. We held the wake with you afterwards so the Broadway holds a special place in my life

I order a carvery via Uber Eats on Friday at 1852, by 1950, it still hadn't arrived despite this Toby is only approximately a mile away from where I live. I spent the next 15 minutes calling this restaurant, I appreciate they must've been busy but it took them this long to pick up their telephone. I had also been following my delivery driver via the Uber app and they had arrived at approx 1930 to collect my meal. I finally managed to get to speak to someone at 2005. I explained the situation to this guy on the phone that I'd been waiting for over an hour for my food, he explained that my food was ready & was waiting on the Uber driver & it was Uber was the reason why my food was so late! When I told him that was an obvious lie, because I could see that the uber driver had been sitting waiting for 35 minutes for my order, he didn't offer an apology for lying to me & said that the Uber odering system had gone down & my order had only just come through! How convient the uber system had just started working again when I was on the telephone complaining!!!!!! This guy then apologies & said he'd get my order out to me asap. It arrived at 2030. My issues are that it toke 1 hour & 45 minutes to get a meal prepared & delivered to me & I was blatantly lied to by the guy answering the phone. Now, it isn't as if the restaurent needed to cook my meal from scratch, all they needed to do was fill some containers from the already prepared food from underneath their heaters & carve some meat for me. This would've been, at most, a 10 minute job! Very, very poor service from you guys & trying to blame your issues onto someone else is rather disappointing!

Possibly the worse carvery I've ever had delivered, sent pork instead of gammon, peas were brown, beef was hard and scabby, sent stuffing when I didn't ask for it.. and everything barely warm. Really terrible, I would avoid at all costs

We went for breakfast. Food was well cooked and hot. Floor nice and clean. Good wheelchair access to table but needed help to get food.

Carvery decent, good sides. Meat slightly cold and not all available however chap serving did give a little extra to my son & me :) Kids meal (from normal menu) was not that great. Ordered meatballs and pasta the meatballs were really dry almost burnt and not much flavour.

Food at a Toby is pretty much the same wherever you go but what makes this particular Toby standout for me is the amazing service and warm reception we always seem to get when me and my son visit. We're creature of habbits you see so I absolutely adore how many of the staff there, remember that we like to have two empt glasses on arrival to fill them ourselves with Tobe always wanting his filled to the brim with ice. It's his favourite Toby's too and doesn't want to go anywhere else which is a tall order, given that he's not so easily impressed, nor am I but I cannot fault the service received with the wonderful staff there, genuinely happy to be working and given my own profession, I can appreciate how important that is in helping to create an amazing experience for the recepient. Happy New Year to you all and thank you once again. You're amazing!

Food wasn't as good as the last time we visited. The floor around our table was unclean and littered with food. Our server was lovely but clearly hadn't been fully trained in the drinks available and had never heard of Stowford Press or a cider shandy. The sprouts were very hard, the meat was very thinly sliced, and the range of veg limited. On the plus side, the Yorkshire pudding and gravy were spot on.

Walked in to the staff arguing about being short staffed. We did offer to go elsewhere if they were busy and couldn't accommodate 2 walk ins. Sat behind the carvery serving station, which was fine. Told by the manager several times to wait for the waitress, she'll be right over to take order etc. after 6 minutes, went to the bar to order both drinks and carvery. Wasn't very busy, food was ok but really not somewhere we'll be coming back to in a hurry

Lovely food as always, me and my friend dani love going here all the time, lovely waiters and staff! There's a waitress named Caitlin and she's absolutely fantastic at what she does and such an lovely young woman with kind and gentle atmosphere ❤️

This was our 2nd Christmas Day running and the whole experience was excellent. Great food and drinks and a very relaxed environment. Will be booking for next year

Ohhh deary me. The table right next to the kitchen door (the booth) the wall was absolutely filthy at 930 this morning. There was no beans in all that sauce, no Yorkshire pudding, plates where dirty, you accepted lots of work men with out booking which left mine and my sisters daughter disappointed on their birthday breakfast. The standard of cleaning is awful, tables banged up, menus not wipes. I used to come here years ago and loved it but I was shocked how it's gone. The plates are awful looking, and the chef looked absolutely filthy her apron was vile too they also need hair nets walking around with there hair swishing about deary mee.

The food was nice but the service was so bad some bald person was serving and didn’t even get us or offer us drinks and overheard them talking bad about customers and I asked for ketchup 3 times before I got it to my table they need to work on their workers and how they treat their customers

We booked our annual Christmas meal with our clients on 17.12.2024. Initially, we had booked for 15 people, but we later increased the number to 30. The bookings team were fantastic in accommodating our changes and even gave us the function room at the back of the venue, ensuring we could all sit together. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles, and all the staff were incredibly accommodating throughout our visit. I would like to extend a special thank you to the manager on shift, who went above and beyond to ensure every person felt included and had a wonderful time. Additionally, the young gentleman behind the bar was also very attentive, taking orders and offering assistance throughout the afternoon. Thank you once again for making our celebration so memorable!

We have been visiting this pub for a good 15 years. It wasn't what it was pre covid but the last couple of times I've had a nice meal, the staff have been really attentive. It's made improvements that have made a real difference

Our server,Jane, was wonderful. We had a disabled member in our party and every care was taken.

Rather poor experience. No one at main desk for over 5 minutes to seat us. Drink order never arrived had to go to bar and complain. Made our way to the carvery and surprise surprise no staff. Stood waiting again 5 mins. Food was not hot at all, hardly warm and a few items were unavailable. Very disappointed as the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. We've been coming here many years and never experienced poor service like this before. It maybe a while before we visit again.

Payed extra for pigs in blankets didn’t get them 18 pound for a carvery and it’s basically peas hardly any meat the beef is just fat honestly shocking

All you can eat breakfast is chosen from overcooked food kept in the oven or under a heated lamp for too long. Small choice of freshly cooked items would be better.

Went for an early Christmas outing from work. It wasn't very busy. They had run out of prawn cocktail. The soup was served warm, a lot of the food on the carvery was only warm. There was no apple sauce or cranberry sauce and none of the gravy pots had much gravy. To top it all they had run out of ice cream! Very disappointing. In response to reply: We did bring to the team members attention all of the problems and nothing was done. He said he would mention the cold food to the chef. No other response.

Rachel was accommodating and very polite. Made sure our experience here was top tier.
