We visited with family who live in the village, and joined the very well run and attended pub quiz. The Tarrington Arms is not a generic renovated pub, instead it retains it's original if slightly faded character, which adds to it's charm. It is also a friendly pub both in terms of staff and locals of all ages. A range of local beers and ciders are stocked, including real ales.

Buena sidra y cerveza. Por lo demás bien.

Set on the main route between Hereford and Ledbury this is a good and well frequented local ale house. Not the cleanest I've been in but caters for drinkers rather than diners. No food available but good beer and rough cider with a friendly landlord and locals. An enjoyable stop if you are thirsty or just want a night drinking and chatting

The beer is acceptable but the interior is in desperate need of significant investment. It could be a lovely venue, the building is very grand and the garden is pleasant. It sits in a lovely village mid way between Hereford & Ledbury. With the right investment it could be a vibrant and viable gastropub.

Visited this pub while staying locally on a Sunday afternoon. Both my husband and I ordered food and drinks. My hunters chicken had been zapped, zapped and zapped again!!! (This is not a difficult dish to cook from fresh). The chips that came with it had a strange orange glow too!! Thankfully my hubby ordered a salad, however, the chicken that came with it was quite tasteless and bland. The whole decor and cleanliness of the bar area and most definitely the toilets could benefit from improving, the whole building/garden area is in general need of a little TLC. The staff in general were quite polite, however, the waitress left glasses etc at tables as she passed by empty handed on more than one occasion.

Don't know what has happened here since the previous reviews. Stopped for lunch on our way to Swansea, but didn't bother. Generally dirty and very bad smell so we settled for a coke and went on our way.

I booked meal for 6 here on the night before my mum's 60th birthday, since we were staying at the lovely Swan House just up the road. It was such a good decision. The staff are really lovely and accommodating. They put out table decorations and banners for me, and greeted us with champagne cocktails when we arrived! The ambience of the room was perfect, and service was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent pub fayre. I recommend the fish and chips. Thanks to all the staff for making such a lovely effort for us, and making a perfect celebration for my mum.

I went here as my partners team was playing pool against their team and the hosting pub normally sorts out some food for the teams. On this occasion they did a large vat of curry and I can assure you it was DELICIOUS! The staff were really nice and friendly as well, so it was a great night had by all.

Service excellent , food hot and O.K. Car park very dangerous with large holes, Marstons need to repair urgently before someone falls and claims compensation.

We stayed here overnight and booked the restaurant for our evening meal. Lovely staff, in a lovely surrounding. It’s a shame it was dark so we couldn’t see the views. Nice selection of starters, mains and desserts and we managed to enjoy all three. In the morning, the breakfast menu was plentiful and the sausage and bacon from a local butcher were very tasty.

England's Gate is a traditional British Pub and should be proud that it lives up such expectations. The food and the service was excellent. My wife had a steak which was very good. I had the steak and ale pie which was exceptional (especially for those who wish to have some comfort food occasionally . Pity more is not made of the 'pie of the day' as it was obviously hand crafted and had a very generous filling of tender and tasty steak. I was a little unsure of what I would get when ordering as the description and lead me to believe it might be 'brought in'. Top marks when it arrived and looked and tasted great. This (and perhaps other great items on the menu) should be heralded as a special dish (as it clearly was) . Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to go back and sample the food and atmosphere again. Super place, well above average food.
