We do not know the city, had just arrived at 8pm and literally walked into this restaurant as it was the first we came across that was not a chain and looked like they really cooked. We had a nice welcome, but the lighting is overhead, spots set into the ceiling, providing a very harsh uncomfortable light. It was like eating in Lidl. Small rechargeable table lights would have grabs this rest. Food was wonderful- especially the trout starter. Unfortunately the waitress with all the good will in the world was not trained and did her best but was just not professional. Sweet yes, but a restaurant of this calibre and price needs professional staff, not sweet staff.

Magnificent mansion, magnificent estate and superb room. In terms of quality, cleanliness of the infrastructure, nothing to complain about, everything is perfect, even more than perfect. A very nice touch in the room for my birthday with a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates. The breakfast is excellent, high quality and gargantuan. The bartender is also very professional, helpful and pleasant. On the other hand, the quality of reception and check-out could be improved. The welcome is not the warmest although professional. The staff at breakfast are very professional. However, one person was really very cold, bordering on unpleasant. For the quality and price of the hotel's services, it's a shame. The biggest disappointment was not being able to purchase the large Lionel the lion soft toy, which is in all the rooms and, which is in all the photos of the hotel. There's even a message attached to his neck, stating that he's for sale at the front desk. However, at reception, we are told that this is not possible, that only the intermediate format remains. When you advertise everywhere, when you promise your child to "adopt" him, and in the end, there are none left or none, I find it borderline unprofessional. Especially when you pay £600 for a night, the least you can do is make sure you find a solution for the customer

Lovely spacious restaurant within the Greyhound Inn. Had dinner there with friends and all were impressed with the food quality - lovely selection of food catering for all types of pallet. All washed down with some nice local ales. Service friendly and non obtrusive. One of the best dining experiences I have had this year. Would certainly go there again if in the area and can thoroughly recommend.

I only moved to the area last year and I was recommended to to this lovely pub and its staff who served me with the best modules mariniere I have had outside France. So, imagine my disappointment when Spring arrived and modules disappeared from the summer menu may- although their pub staple of ham, egg and chips was high class. Last week I met with friends to try the 2024 winter menu. The ham, egg and chips were as good as ever and the cider battered haddock was enjoyed but the modules topped them both. Sweet shallots, garlic and white wine bathed the plump mussels set,off by a topping of parsley. The chef managed to get a wonderful depth of sweet flavour to the dish which came in both starter and main dish sizes.. The service was as friendly as ever and the beer is well kept. Thank you.

More style and price, than substance. Lovely setting, beautiful rambling walled garden with posh servers. But the restaurant food can be really bad! Bean dip (but called something much more lyrical, which I forget) was tasteless/ bland. Even I can just liquidise a tin of beans, and burn a carrot, but I season them properly and do expect much more for the prices. Much is made of local suppliers, and the meat dishes always seem to get better comments from my friends. The veggie food and deserts are expensive and not tasty, original or quality. If you are happy paying highly for meaty food, in a unique setting, then feel free. But I would avoid veggie and vegan (and probably the deserts).

This is fairly local to us and we decided to have an early evening birthday dinner. Even at 6 on a Monday it was pleasantly busy creating a nice atmosphere. Service was prompt and friendly and there was a good range of real ales on offer including 3 kegs of guest beers. Food choice was exceptional to the point of making it hard to decide which of several options to choose. When it arrived the food was extremely good and well presented. All in all a very good experience.
