The best restaurants serving British food in West Dorset South West

This is my local chippy and I am so happy it is ! These boys serve up the BEST fish and chips you’ll ever taste. Delicious, perfectly fried fish and chips with generous portions. Make sure you give them a visit !

Good fish and chips. Decent sizes. Not the best curry sauce... But would go back.

Nice relaxed atmosphere ( it is off season) so not rushed. Professional, friendly staff were most accommodating to us requesting a 'mezze' range of starters which were all excellent, complemented with recommendations for wine paring. Had an excellent brandy to go along with end of dinner coffee.. highly recommended...thanks Millside :)

We have visited the Abbey House a few years ago and drive especially with a detour to revisit. Since my wife uses a wheelchair I asked to be seated on the lawns just a few steps from the terrace to make an accessible place available (we had been seated there during our prvfious visit). The waiter answered: we only put tables there duiding a wedding. So no other option for us then just leave the place since which is NOT accesible for a wheelchair. We were very disappionted and felt unwelcomed.

Iv stopped here a few times now and it's a lovely little quiet pub. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The owner Steve is a great host. The room are very clean and comfortable. The pub offers fantastic food, all homemade and the breakfast is one of the best iv had in any hotel. If your looking for a nice quiet place to stop for a few night in Dorset you must stay here.

Absolutely love this cafe, the food is divine as is the welcome/service. Their soups are incredible and the Tortilla With Grilled Dalwood Asparagus & Wild Garlic Mayo looks like a work of art and tastes amazing. We can't wait to return again and again...Wonderful place 💞

First class food with a fine selectionof wines, served by highly attentive but unobtrusive staff. What more could you want??? HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Always had good food and coffee here. Wide choice available and lots to buy to take home. Staff friendly and close to the Abbey. The deli is amazing.

We visited the Chetnole Inn by pure chance. Feeling peckish, saw a sign off the main road. What we found was a friendly village inn with great home cooked food at a reasonable price.

If you're looking for delicious food at a good price, then this is the place.

A really delightful place to stop for a coffee, a snack or a light lunch. The room is really beautiful with friendly staff offering table service - much better than a canteen self-service. Coffee is excellent and the snack we had was just perfect. A real find in the centre of Dorchester

Food was excellent, I was surprised to read a review indicating the food was average. I am an experienced cook and can honestly say the flavours and taste were outstanding. Great atmosphere, interior and service too. There is early bird menu for £23 for 2 courses, great value. We had pig cheek, burger and cod loin….highly recommend all.
