The best restaurants serving British food in Swindon South West

Once again Carol shows her skills with this homemade Chicken pie.... well I say chicken, also bacon mushroom and leeks with a puff pastry lid... we both ordered it with veg mash and gravy and on a chilly Autumn evening it absolutely hit the comfort food spot ... a great big hug of a plate...

Poor Sunday lunch main meal. Cold plates, luke warm at best food. I never do poor online reviews but the restaurant manager not interested in the points I made. As a legal practice manager myself I found him rather unprofessional. I don't need to know that he hadn't had any other negative comments. All rather defensive. Some training needed! Starters and deserts good though but won't return.

Amazing food, very generous portions! The best chips we ever had! 10 out of the 10!

Me and wife had large breakfast. Wife's beans were solidified together, burnt on bottom. All 4 fried eggs were solid and rubbery. Bacon so under cooked I heard it oink. When we complained all we got was . " I will mention it to the chef" . Like that's gonna change anything. 1 star. Nuffield said.

Shame it never made it to the bottom of the list as the worst restaurant in Swindon, but it was heading there before the owner was sent to prison.

We thought we’d have a coffee and cake before starting our shopping, but wished we hadn’t. The cappuccinos were disgusting, certainly the worst we have ever had. There was no froth and the coffee itself was weak and watery. It left a horrible taste in my mouth. On the plus side the pastry was nice but certainly did not make up for the coffee and we won’t be going there again. The free coffee from the machine is better than the one paid for.

Since it’s refurbishment this cafe has become a favourite of mine. Whether it’s simply a cappuccino and scone or a fish and chip dinner, to date I cannot fault either the friendliness of the staff, the speed of service or the quality of the food. It’s good to see the tables being cleared and antibacterial spray being used along with any mess on the floor being cleaned and cleared immediately after the table has been vacated, something sadly lacking in many other cafés nowadays. There’s lots of choices whether you’re looking for a snack or a meal, give it a go, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

AWFULL worst fish and chips fish dry like eating cardboard chips nasty. We had Chinese from there as well and that was terrible to will never go there again needs new chefs and ownership to

Do not eat the Christmas lunch here. We made the mistake of ordering the filled Christmas Yorkshire pudding lunch for our work do at £12 a pop and it was dire. Two slices of thin industrial turkey loaf, a bit of overcooked veg and skin on boiled potatoes which were sold as roast. Yorkshire pud was underdone. We all agreed it was awful. £200 later, staff didn’t care. Don’t waste your money.....

We and our family have been using the Manor Farm for many years and have rarely had occasion to criticise staff or service. The non-eating drinker is well catered for with up to 6 ale choices, all of which are kept in top condition. so the 'wet' side of the pub is near perfect. The food has an excellent range, well presented and tasty. The fish and chips is highly recommended, as is the steak & ale pie. Service is generally good, with very pleasant, friendly and efficient staff. Naturally, with all of these positives, the Manor can at times, be very busy so at times somewhat more than a little patience may be necessary. A five star rating is well earned!

We stopped here because my husband needed a comfort break, I did not soI waited in the car. It was night time around 9pm and not hugely busy so we were close to the front. The number of rats running between bins was frightening! Running along the hand rails, popping in and out of the bins. A family with young children parked in the child friendly spaces nearly ended up with one in their car but luckily the child shut the door. I know it’s difficult to control rodents, but this was out of control, and there is no way someone hasn’t noticed this before. Health hazard, won’t be stopping there again.

Please don't attempt to book at this restaurant or hotel, this was closed a couple of years ago and has recently been the subject of a large fire. Right next door to a retail park, guess what will happen next?
