Manor Farm in Swindon

Its a lovely looking pub which we have frequented many times in the past (the standard of food has been variable over the years), we were with a party of 4 for evening dinner. Three of the meals were good value for money, the chips were really nice, however one of the meals was described as "Crispy tortilla chips loaded with nacho cheese sauce, guacamole, salsa, sour cream-style sauce, jalapeños and chopped chives.(£8.99)".And at an additional add on "Vegetable Chilli (£4.50)". What came was; a bowl of slop with no vegetable chilli, no real cheese, it was sent back asking for the £4.50 worth of vegetable chilli that wasn't on the plate. On return the dish looked exactly the same and I asked where is the vegetable chilli? the response was; those little brown bits there! (total of about 5 black beans, no vegetables at all!). so consequently it went back again and I was refunded for the meal, leaving me with no dinner as my friends had now finished theirs. (I ate a few chips they had left). I would recommend this food option be removed from the menu or at least provide the meal as described on the menu.

Took my family for dinner, and was not disappointed. The bar staff were really nice and friendly. I would definitely go back. Thank you.

Christine and her team always have a smile and friendly welcome. As regulars, my husband and I always enjoy the food. A good, varied menu and value for money. A great selection of ales and a variety of entertainment make this a great local pub.

Went for a Sunday lunch and the food was luke warm. The Yorkshire puddings were stone cold and we asked for them to be replaced, they gave us two more cold ones!!! We were regulars here and have have heard of many other regulars who now use other places, with the main complaint being cold food. The last two meals we had there went back as they were cold as well. On the Monday we had an email from their head office asking for us to review the meal. We told them and they responded by saying that they would tell the pub directly, but I doubt if it will make any difference. We are local regulars and now vote with our feet until they improve.

I had such a lovely dinner at The Manor Farm the other day. Danni (I think this was her name!?) was our server and couldn’t have been more helpful as my friend had an allergy. Will definitely be back.

Very friendly and welcoming, nice choice of ale and a good value menu which was even cheaper with the 30% discount voucher. My favourite dish is the vegetarian Thai Curry which comes with little prawn crackers.

Not the best experience,food underwhelming,waiting staff bit chaotic. When it came to getting the bill took ages,staff not really on it. Manager Christine not got the best personality for that job. Comes across as pretty rude.

Wonderful staff. We were greeted by a very smiley and friendly young lady call Danni. We hadn't booked but she quickly found us a table. She was very knowledgeable about the products and promotions that were available. When we ordered our food I asked for a couple of things to be changed and this was no problem for them. Throughout the evening Danni came to check on us to see if we needed anything and if our food was satisfactory. It was all lovely, came out in good time and was nice and hot. I don't have a sweet tooth, but she managed to persuade me to have one, once again that was lovely. We stayed for a drink after our meal and Danni stood talking to us about the Manor and marstens, her personal life ect. She is such a lovely person and is a credit to them. We will definitely be retuning.

A spur of the moment decision to go out for dinner and we weren't disappointed. We were served by Danni who made us feel at ease and made our visit a great experience. The food was excellent and good value for money. Will definitely be returning.

First visit here. Was impressed with the variety of choice on the menu & with the speed of service from the waitress. Drinks came quickly. Had to wait a little longer than anticipated for our meals, but can appreciate the wait as everything arrived hot & obviously freshly cooked. The ordered steaks were well trimmed & perfectly cooked & chips were well done, but still soft inside. The battered fish was moist & flaky with crispy batter & the burgers were chargrilled so were tasty without being too dry. Only slight complaint came with the desserts. The sherry trifle cheesecakes contained no sherry. This wasn’t a problem as such, as they tasted lovely, but feel that maybe the title was a little misleading. The rocky road sundae arrived & was huge, but was mostly ice cream with a few small marshmallows & no chunks of brownie were found. The other desserts of apple crumble & caramel brownie were delicious. All in all, a successful visit & I feel it won’t be our last.

OMG, We have never been to such an unorganised restaurant before. The bservice was so bad, customers were leaving after waiting a very long time. Customers were complaining about the food quality. We had a curry that it was so runny, you could have drank it out of a cup.

The experience tonight was the worst it has been since we have been coming. We were sat on table 22 which was bar service which we didn't realise as we weren't told we don't normally sit in this section. I had to get a child menu from the table as this wasn't offered or given when we were told where our table was. When ordering there was no chicken burgers what so ever so 3 of the 5 in our party had to choose alternatives. We then ordered drinks but there was no ice. When our food came the cowboy burger was burnt it was dry and crispy. The mixed grills were burnt the sausages were black, the gammon dry and brown and 1 was missing the steak. Overall it was a very bad experience.

My first choice for value I am never disappointed with the quality of service and standard of food the staff are efficient in their roles which makes every visit enjoyable

Went to this pub with some friends and had a 30% off main voucher. Very busy for a mid week night. Had booked a table and got seated but waited half an hour for someone to take drink or food orders. Ran out of loads of food options and waited over an hour for the food. I had a chicken kebab with fries that was awful brown fatty chicken and the meal was luke warm with skinny hard tasteless fries. Did not enjoy the meal or service at all. Also had to change my drink order as there was no ice either. Clearly can’t cope with it being busy. I live locally but I won’t be back for a while, even with more vouchers!

Our go to place for real ale. With an ever changing menu of cask ales and a knowledgeable staff, always something to tempt the pallet.

This is our local, great staff, always friendly and are really great with our disabled son. Never had a bad meal here, it’s good pub food. Curry night is a favourite. Good selection of beers and cocktails. Even have the jelly baby made especially for me on occasion. Christine and her team make it a great local for everyone whether a family get together, after work drink, hang out in the garden

Came on a Friday night and because it hadn't rained during the day, they had ran out out of chips! Really? My partner had to have sweet potato fries with her steak which we had to pay a premium for. Surely if they've ran out of chips then they should supply an alternative at no extra charge. Half of her steak was fat and the other half was cooked nearly blue when it was asked to be medium rare. When we complained she took the steak away for it to be replaced. So my partner was left with a plate of premium sweet potato fries which were eaten before a freshly cooked lonely steak was brought to the table. We won't be coming back.

We come to the manor at least twice a month and we love it! The staff are all very friendly and the food is amazing and always cooked to perfection! They accommodate us well with our 4 month old and can never do enough to ensure your visit is great! Great family pub!

This place is an absolute GEM. First time visiting and expectations were exceeded excellently. Will be visiting again for sure. Walked in and found our reserved table easily (maybe concierge would have added to the experience). Tables are well spaced, layout is good and the fixtures and fittings are so welcoming. Such character and really cosy. Now the food. We ordered a Sunday Roast and OMG what a roast! The spuds were heavenly and cooked to absolute perfection. The contrast of fluffiness on the inside and crispness on the outside was to die for. We often dine out but this roast was something else. The Mrs is up there with the toughest crowd when it comes to a roast dinner and she said that this was "hands down the best in Swindon!" After taste testing myself I can second that opinion. I had the Sirloin Steak - medium rare & gluten free - and once again this meal was cooked to total perfection! The additional fried egg along with the button mushrooms, peas and chunky chips all cooked magnificently and left me more than satisfied. The nippers had Cowboy burgers with fries and they were just as good. Really tasty, well seasoned patties, and golden brioche buns. 3x Chocolate Fudge Cakes didn't disappoint either - very generous portions with a soft sponge and plenty of chocolate sauce. Service was also 5 star excellent - all staff very friendly, helpful and polite. I asked at the bar and they said Jacob the chef would be grateful for the feedback. Great job everyone, thank you.

We like the atmosphere as there is no TV or loud music. The staff are great and friendly and the food is good and there is always a deal to be had. Burger Tuesday is a favourite of ours.

Love this pub. Everything that everyone holds dear. We visited mid week and it was busy. It ticks all the good boxes. We had Fish and chips, bangers and mash, (a good sized) burger and chips and Hunters Chicken. If you fancy it they have it. Thanks to everyone - friendly and prompt service. Highly recommended.

What a lovely pub, Attended the manor farm this evening for a family get together. We were shown to our table quickly and drinks served in a timely fashion. All 10 of our party were very impressed with the speed of service. The food was delicious, well presented, The steaks were cooked to perfection. Massive well done to the chef who cooked for us. We will definitely be returning again soon.

Food quality was poor and poorly presented (lasagne pasta sheets couldn’t even be cut with a knife). Service was slow. Had to get up and chase for a server to offer us a sweet. Staff just didn’t seem to be bothered. We’ve been to the Manor Farm many times but this was easily the worst experience we’ve had, and based on this, it’ll be a long time before we consider going back again.

Apart from having to wait quite a while for anyone to acknowledge us to be seated, the evening was great. Very friendly, helpful, considerate staff. Food arrived quickly (the mains appeared before the starters were cleared though), hot, presented well, tasty and about the right portion sizes. Everyone in our party enjoyed the meal, the venue, the menu, where we were sat and the service. Will definitely return!

We are regulars and the food is always excellent and good value but I have to mention Neetu, she is amazing, always on the ball and looks after us so well, she is a credit to Manor Farm and makes our visits all the more enjoyable keep up the good work lovely lady x

This is the key to remember, there was my 86 year old mother myself, and my husband and we paid £160.00. This consisted of a starter, main course, and dessert. Each course was nothing to write home about. 8/10 prawns on a bed of lettuce for the starter. The main course was not from a freshly cooked turnkey but a rolled-up turnkey that had literally no taste, so I didn't eat it. Roast potatoes that barely looked roasted, more boiled. But the icing on the cake was that I had to scramble around on my plate to locate the smallest smidgen of gravy! The portion of the meal that I ate was bone dry, and my mother didn't even see any pigs in blankets on her plate!If you wish to eat an unsatisfying meal and pay £160.00 Then this is the place!This was the first time we decided to eat out on Christmas day and will be our last. I do not recommend eating here at Christmas or on any other day!

My mum who is 71 today, went with my daughter for a birthday lunch , she was done and picked up within 45 minutes! Twice they served her inedible food with soggy lettuce, she is disabled and clearly very tiny. She takes meds at lunch so hadn’t eaten beforehand.She rang me quite distressed asking advice, when I said to ask for a full refund after two failed attempts and a hungry tum, they gave her the £4.55 paid for the children’s meal( as I stated, she is tiny) my daughter never ate hers out of guilt but no refund given. Will not be returning. Disgraceful customer service and no care or thought.

We were booked here for the set menu Christmas lunch. Service was good as were tge drinks but sadly this did not compensate for the disappointing standard of the food. The pate was just unrecognisable as such : a lump of brown paste with little flavour. Spicy tomato soup was okay, although the small portion hardly matched the two enormous rolls that accompanied it! The main meal was of the standard of school dinners : edible but nothing special with carrots in thick,barely peeled rounds. However, the real surprise was the glutinous lump of dried fruit that was described as Christmas pudding ! Price was £18 + not expensive but I would have preferred to have paid more for a Christmas that was memorable for the right reasons.This is a nice pub with gardens and I imagine it must be pleasant in the summer but un fortunately I shall not be returning to find out.

Beautiful farm house pub with friendly staff. Never complained about the food, it's nothing Michelin star but it's guaranteed comfort food. The veg pie is but the real show stopper is the dessert. Just look at what I had...Highly recommend if you just want a good quality pub.

Lunch with my 78 year old mum. Everything about our trip was bad. When i asked about sitting somewhere i was told “those seats are booked”. We were forced to sit next to the kitchen which was draughty and my mum felt cold. The seats that were supposedly booked were all empty for the whole time we were there. Completely empty. I ordered a pie - a vegan option - and was told we dont have that one but a different pie - the pie i got was pretty terrible. It was an apology for a pie and a meal in general. The pie was soggy, immediately, the whole pie. Pretty sure it had just bern lobbed in the microwave. Menu said crispy puff pastry. The carrots were large slices and unpeeled. The chips were mediocre. Kind of cooked. I did complain and was offered to take the cost off the bill. Doesnt make up for a bad lunch. And to top it off, it seems they have ran out of the only vegan desert in the pub.

We've visited the Manor Farm very regularly over the past few months, as we're lucky enough to live only a mile from the pub. Without fail, each of our visits over the past few months has been rewarded with large portions of excellent, well-cooked food at a reasonable price. The team are friendly and the atmosphere warm and cosy. Wholeheartedly recommend the fish & chips, the mushroom pie and the vegan burger from the regular menu, plus the ocean pie on the current specials menu. Good selection of drinks available. Visited The Manor Farm last night with a family member. Such a lovely Warm , Welcoming Pub, and it was booming with people. This was lovely to see. Great pub food as always, you get what u pay for, so if you're expecting more than pub food this place isn't for you. Lovely Lads who work their with a great sense of Humor!! Will be visiting again with Partner and son as we live locally in the area. Thanks for a great meal and an enjoyable evening.

Came in with my dog, after being told dog friendly, was told I could only sit in a through way, not allowed in the main part! Please do not be misleading. It wasn't a problem I went to the Riverside in lechlade, a much nicer pub, not as grotty with grumpy managers lol

Took my young daughters for a lazy Sunday lunch with a view to chill and catch up on homework reading. Booking online was painless, staff were very accommodating - and particularly helpful when my youngest spilt her drink! Food was just as described, hot, and tasty. Desserts were delicious, too. Kid friendly, excellent service. Will visit again!

New to the area after reading reviews for this restaurant we decided to give it a go menu has a wide selection something there for everyone very reasonably price portion sizes were good and you get your money worth glad we chose here to come for tea it was very nice we will definitely return on our next trip

Friends invited me for dinner as the pub has just become dog friendly inside in certain areas. My dog and I joined them on a busy Tuesday evening, what a welcome. Our reserved table had a bowl of water ready for my four legged friend, once we were seated menus and dog biscuits arrived and we were shown a selection of blankets to use if your dog did not want to lay directly on the hard floor. Absolutely amazed by the service, food very nice and value for money and the dog friendly part can't be faulted.

I’ve eaten here many times as it is local, and whilst the pub is clean, the staff are welcoming and efficient, I feel that it is let down by the quality of the food which has deteriorated lately, so unfortunately I won’t return which is a shame.

Been coming to this pub for years to enjoy some beers in a relaxed atmosphere.Most other pubs in the area are more expensive even though half the time you can tell their beer lines aren't cleaned enough. This is one of, if not, thee best pub in North Swindon for real ale.Theres no TVs playing football or sports so it limits the lager louts coming in and being nonbheads.The food is your wholesome pub grub, you get what you pay for. Staff are always welcoming and are very on the ball at running this pub. It's been successful for getting on a decade now since Christine took over and really turned it around. Before her tenure it as a bit of dive, but not anymore!There's a fantastic back garden which I love to drink in on warm summer evening's with the green flood lights providing a very chilled atmosphere.Love this place.

I wanted to take my dad out for lunch and booked Manor Farm for lunchtime at 12pm on a Saturday. Upon entering the pub, we were asked to scan the QR code, given menus (which are thrown away after each customer visit) and shown to our table. We had our drinks and food choices taken for us but otherwise you can order online. Have always liked this pub, has a lovely feel to it (and I remember when it was a farm many years before the pub opened). Plenty of tables and social distancing observed by staff and customers. Menu had changed somewhat since my last visit and I was somewhat disappointed to see many "burgar" meals but I suppose this a sign of the times. There were still plenty of options and both my father and I had dep fried mushrooms to start which were delicious and had plenty of them. This was followed my lasagne, garlic bread and side salad for me and my dad had the gamon steak. Meals were really good, really can't fault them at all. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Did visit the ladies and they were very spacious and very clean. Definitely recommend. Have been here quite a lot and have never had a bad experience.

Was so nice to eat out after lockdown, we experienced great service all night, our waiter was welcoming and friendly and helpful when my friend was asking about the drinks menu, will be back again soon!

My freind had a hair in his chips and didnt eat them left a horrible idea ans we cant get food again luckily my food was ok his wasnt I just thought you should know.

Last day before another lockdown and so came here for lunch. As always, great food and wonderful staff. All measures in place and felt very welcoming and safe.

My wife and I had very enjoyable meal. I had the Beef madras and my wife had the hunters chicken. Food delivered to our table very promptly and was superb for the money.
