Had been meaning to visit for years and finally managed to find the opportunity. We weren’t disappointed. Enjoyed the fish and chips (we’d recommend booking an early slot as the food is freshest at the start of service). But the real highlight were the 3 or 4 salads to accompany. All of which made the meal excellent value (£13.50 per head + drinks). Friendly service and great views too. We’ll be returning for sure!

Came to the pub for some food and if I say so myself it was one of the most wholesome pub foods I’ve had in a while. The service was great and the location of the pub is beautiful . I’ve definitely recommended this place to my family and friends and recommend it to anyone looking to go out to eat l aswell .

This is probably our 4th or 5th stop off at The Crown on the way home. A pub we discovered not long after lockdown after walking in Cheddar . It is an absolute stunner- a hidden gem. Traditional olde worlde with proper stone floors and a roaring fire. Lots of outside space but today after a walk at Goblin Combe we dropped by and that roaring fire was very welcome. We grabbed a couple of ales which were very nice and on a whim ordered a sandwich each. We’ve never eaten there before and these were amazing . My wife has rare roast beef and there must have been about an inch thick of lovely thinly sliced beef. I had ham and cheddar on granary - again absolutely thick with filling and lovely bread. It seems silly fussing over a sandwich but even the side salad was very good. I can’t wait to come back and have a lasagna on another cold day after walking. Staff have always been very friendly -it is obviously a locals pub but has never felt that they treat outsiders any different. Probably the best pub we’ve ever been to?

Stopped here for the first time and so glad we did. The welcome was warm and friendly. The carvery was amazing hot tasty and great value for money. Lot's of choice from the carvery and vegetables were also cooked very well. I would recommend booking as it was almost full when we got there at 3pm and was still very busy when we left st 5pm .

Visited here to celebrate Valentines night. Not really the pubs fault but absolutely empty with no atmosphere. The TV playing in the background! Not our ideal atmosphere. Food was basic, the fish and chips were mainly batter and cheap frozen type chips. The pea order was even wrong. The gammon was salty. No one came over to ask how our meal was. The waitress did ask as she cleared the table as so much food was left on our plates. Unfortunately my drink was cleared away before I’d actually finished it. We won’t be returning. Sad as this is our local and we’d love a pub that serves great food and drinks with some atmosphere.

I wrote a Review 3 months ago after our Walking Group visit was a great success at this lovely Pub. We had pre arranged to park all our cars at 10am and have lunch about 1:30pm which was a very friendly gesture by the Proprietors. Twelve of us had an excellent lunch which varied from soup and a sandwich to my second go at Cow Pie. ( This is delicious ) The service was ultra efficient at a large table in a warm area, the young staff were great. We will definitely return, and weather permitting will sit outside and enjoy the magnificent view over the lake.
