This pub used to be an Indian which we used quite often, however it's changed hands into a Thai restaurant. Haven't visited since it has changed as we weren't sure on the quality as no one we know have been there. Last night we decided to visit as a celebration if something. We could not fault the service or the food, very very good! Everything came out very hot, in a timely manner and tasted incredible! Will be back soon, either for dine in or a takeaway! Thank you

Its an indian apparently with all the decor from when it was a pub. Its byob but serving spirits and wine. We was the only customers but still managed to get our order wrong. Ordered 3 curries which all tasted the same eventhough they were supposed to be three different. Everything had a weird oily taste and left a horrible after taste.

I live local and just found this place come up as an indian resto. On entry was told bar was unavailable, no staff. The food menu was limited , the food on arrival was poor to average , notbing fresh , rice reheated, chapati heated and crusty. The price for 2 people was £50, utter rip off for the money.A glass of coke was £4 , again nlt fresh coke , straight out of already opened bottle. All in all a truly dissapointing experience. Avoid.

This was the first time I have ordered from this restaurant and, in all honesty, probably the last. For a little more effort and care I suspect this could have been a review full of praise. Instead I feel short-changed. The order was placed an hour before they opened and was subsequently accepted and the delivery time confirmed. The app was updated twice to delay the delivery by 15 minutes and then they didn’t bother to do this for a third time, just letting it arrive another 10 minutes later. So, 40 minutes late. Not a great start. When it was delivered it was in an open thin carrier bag, so little wonder it was barely tepid. I had to reheat the food, especially the thin chapatti which was just disappointing. As for the samosa, I was supposed to receive 3 for the £4.50 paid but, instead, I received 1 and they should have been described as mini samosas because they were the small ones you might purchase from a supermarket as part of a ready meal.Little wonder they don’t provide an image of all their food. The curries were very tasty but the whole experience was soured by the fact that delivery times meant nothing to this restaurant. No effort is made to keep the food warm meaning food has to be re-heated and, despite charging a premium price for samosas, they actually supplied 2 instead of 3 and these look like the mini samosas available in bulk from most supermarkets. I gave the restaurant a chance after receiving a leaflet but they need to up their game because there is a lot of competition in the area. With flavourful food, this experience could so easily have been a 5 star affair.

We went for the new Indian food menu which was good. The menu is quite small, but that's a good thing as Indian menus can often be overwhelming. I had possibly the best onion bhaji I've ever had, was lovely. We had chicken passanda, chicken Rogan, Bombay potatoes, naan and onion bhajis. The food was all really good, nicely spiced but we found the chicken dishes way too salty. The naan were not the best either, sorry. But we still had a nice meal and as I say, the bhajis were lovely. Would be good to see a couple of other staples on the menu like Tikka Masala or Butter Chicken. Good friendly service.

Absolutely fantastic roast at a proper pub- warm welcome, friendly. Clearly home cooking style food and definitely a personal style in the business, as can be seen by the fishing gear around the walls! The view out to Blagdon Lake is superb, though it’s just a shame the pub doesn’t actually look out onto it (apparently the lake was made after the pub!). The meals were terrific, and the landlord was carving the meats which made for a nice touch. Good selection of beers- Butcombe was very fresh and delicious! We had a quick look at the rooms and they look perfectly lovely- we plan to return and maybe combine an overnight stay with a days walking in the mendips!

Sadly the discounted bill didn’t really compensate for no breakfast on Saturday morning as the landlord overslept, or the lack of hot water meaning I had no hot shower or wash on Saturday or Sunday. On a plus note, good reasonably priced food and a good selection of beers and ciders. I probably wouldn’t use this pub again in lieu of better options locally - it’s a bit tatty and untidy as the photos that met us for breakfast on Sunday morning show... ☹️

First of all can’t deny that everything we were served was home cooked and very tasty. Both the beef and turkey were succulent and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The set up is a little odd though and not a carvery as such. Meat is carved and given to you with Yorkshire and stuffing. The veg and gravy is then served to your table and as first time visitors we didn’t realise you could ask for more. One dish of cabbage and cauliflower cheese between 5 is not enough the other veg carrots, broccoli and parsnips was ample. We asked for more gravy and made do with the veg. The table next to us started a little later and between six they asked for at least 3 dishes of each which they were served. Lovely waitress did ask if we wanted more but we had finished what we had so was a little late. If you go just don’t hesitate to ask for more I guess is the message. If the carvery was extended to include help yourself veg this would be a five star review. For now 3.5 out of 5 but definitely delicious food. Next time I won’t be shy to ask for more!!!

We visited this pub today for Sunday lunch. We were given a warm welcome and we were well looked after throughout our meal. The pub itself is set in a lovely location with stunning views. It’s worth having a walk around the village and down to the lake beforehand so you can build up your appetite! You can chose a small or large plate. There were three different choices of meat-beef, turkey and pork. All were beautifully cooked (we opted for a bit of each) and the crackling was superb. The meat itself was of a very good quality. The Yorkshire puddings were perfect, proper home cooked Yorkies that taste lovely, not dried out ones the size of your head that some places seem to favour! All the veg was also really well cooked and delicious. Parsnips, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, red cabbage and beautiful cauliflower cheese with plenty of cheese sauce. The gravy was also very tasty as were the accompanying sauces. The horseradish had plenty of poke to it, which again some places don’t seem to get.

We spent a very pleasant Sunday morning walking around Blagdon reservoir and arrived back in the village at around 1pm. Being Sunday, most pubs were providing a Sunday roast but we had an evening dinner already organized and wanted lunch. Eventually, we arrived at the Queen Adelaide and asked if they provided soup or sandwiches. The very friendly and approachable landlord said they were serving a Sunday carvery but, if we waited a moment, would check if the kitchen staff would be able to provide a baguette filled with the Sunday roast turkey, pork or beef for a fiver. They were - and we had an absolutely delicious lunch, washed down with a lovely real ale! I had the pork and my wife had the turkey; both were first rate and had additional trimmings (stuffing, apple for the pork etc).

The food is very good quality, with generous portions, seasonal vegetables and locally sourced fish specials from Blagdon. Classic pub dishes are all handmade by the chef and served simply and attractively. We tried the Steak and Ale pie, and rump steak - both were huge portions and cooked perfectly to our requests. Deserts are well worth trying, with recommendations from the staff helping to chose between the delicious sounding options. The locals are welcoming and friendly, with a strong community feel and a rural sense of humour which reminded me of growing up in a small village. I'll be visiting again!

We were in the area and decided to visit this old pub. It was mid week and therefore not to busy. Menu had a good choice. Our order came very quickly and presented well. They say you eat with your eyes. This was some feast. Loved the quality of food. The staff were friendly and accommodate our questions re the area and food. Everything was very pleasant. We will return with some of our friends...

My husband and had had a lovely Sunday lunch at The Queen Adelaide. The food was obviously home cooked and delicious at a reasonable price. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the pub had an old world feel that made a pleasant change from all the modern gastro pubs! We will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely meal as usual here, there was a special Canada Day menu yesterday. Very good smoked haddock chowder followed by an excellent home made game pie made with very tender venison, pheasant and gluten free pastry. Alternatively there was Tourtiere which is a French Canadian meat pie or salmon fish cakes. Also loved the Nanaimo bar, a crumb based dessert with buttercream icing and chocolate.Very hospitable service in immaculate surroundings, well worth a visit.

Very welcoming. Difficult to assess atmosphere as there were only 4 customers in the pub but it is clearly busy at the weekends-very much part of the village.Steak and kidney pie was excellent but it might have been helpful to know that there was a very limited menu when we we booked but luckily that is what we would have chosen.Very busy exit from the carpark but a very kind landlord saw us out! Beautiful area.

I was staying at the Mendip Caving Group club house with a friend for 4 days of walking, our caving days long over. Having visited all our old haunts for meals and having had our fill of chips with everything we were looking for a meal with some vegetables. I suggested we tried the Queen Adelaide in Blagdon but never having been there I was a bit apprehensive. I had no reason to be, we received a warm welcome by the barman, who we took to be the landlord. The steak and kidney pie on the board looked promising and on being told it came with mash and vegetables our minds were made up.The meals were brought out by a friendly Canadian lady. They were as good as they looked with short crust pastry, mash, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and extra gravy. It was the best meal of our 4 days. We both had such a good time on Mendip reminiscing that we decided to return later in the year and that the Queen Adelaide will be top of our list

We pre-booked dinner here for a group of 12 (3 families).Sharon and Colin could not have been more accommodating of our needs. Because we were a large group and they are a small team we pre-ordered our food with Sharon (who cooks). The evening worked perfectly. The food was timed really well and all our meals were tasty and of really good portion sizes. Across the group, we tried a wide range of the items of menu and we enjoyed them all.Colin ran the bar was serviced our needs really well. This was a perfect pub for us to meet up in the Mendips.

I haven't been here for approx. 2 years and now I remember what I have been missing. The owners were very friendly and we immediately felt welcomed. Food was of a very high standard and good portions. 5 of us attended and my bill was £60 for a round of drinks plus 2 X 3 course meals. Meat sourced from the local butcher. The owner helped out with the service and he was very interactive at the table if given the opportunity but was not in your face. A definite thumbs up

We went to this pub yesterday, with two friends. The ambience was terrific. The bar and restaurant service was excellent. The food was good, as were the puddings. Good choices. Restaurant manager VERY conscientious about asking about food allergies and intolerances. Well worth a visit.

Delicious home cooked food provided by a friendly, caring Canadian lady who visited our table personally to check we were happy with our meals. There was no sense of hurry in spite of her obviously being busy and we have not enjoyed Sunday lunch so much in a long time. The vegetables were fresh and abundant, the roast potatoes made from scratch (no mass produced pre-packaged stuff here) even the accompaniments were home made. If the car park is full, there is one outside the village hall just beyond, left then left again. Call to book first. Well worth a visit!

A great welcome from a proper landlord and landlady. Very accommodating and helpful. The pub itself is very traditional with a great range of ales and wines but this is all just a marvelous prelude to a truly fantastic Sunday lunch. The beef was cooked to perfection with six different side dishes and a light and tasty Yorkshire pudding.A meal of immense character and charm served by the friendliest of staff. We could not have asked for more. We will not only return as soon as possible...we are seriously considering moving to the village just to be nearer. Absolutely first rate and very good value also.
