The Old Inn in North Somerset

Four of us sat down for a pre-ordered Christmas dinner today. We all enjoyed our main and dessert. Personally, I will say, this is probably, no, definitely the best turkey Christmas dinner I've ever had, home or out. Everything was cooked to perfection. Sliced turkey, roast potatoes, parsnips, sprouts with bacon and walnuts, red cabbage, pig in blanket, stuffing, baby carrots and lovely and plentiful turkey/ chicken gravy. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted wonderfully. I can only recommend this place based on this and I know food is a subjective thing but, for me, The Old Inn could not have done better.

Would personally like to thank Jordan on the reception team for not only sending me out my vouchers 1st class but for adding a little personal note that made me smile. Highly recommend best in business.

An absolutely amazing lunch! Food was delicious and staff were amazing. The carvery was the best I've ever had, fresh veg and meat cooked to perfection. Would recommend 100%, can't wait to go back.

Great food, great service, really pleasant evening

Went with friends on a Friday evening. It was packed. People clearly come out early here. Would suggest booking a bit later say 8 pm for a quieter experience. Tables are large and the service was quick and efficient from a group of youngsters. Very impressive specials which 3 out of the 4 had. All the food was nicely cooked although a few more vegetables would have been welcome. The one downside was the crappy pudding, sticky toffee pudding it wasn’t. It was basically the smallest ( bought in ) sponge too light to be pudding and barely 2/3 spoonfuls. All in all an enjoyable evening

This really is a gem of a place. Dog friendly. Every choice of food had by our family was outstanding & the same with our deserts. This chef here really can cook & present the food well. Every member of staff were super efficient & happy, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend.

We went for lunch and chose the carvery and a Hewish chicken. Both meals were delicious. It was busy but the service was excellent. The staff were all bubbly and chatty and we will definitely return. Thank you.

Friendly and helpful staff, the Sunday carvery was outstanding.

Superb food, great atmosphere, great beers, amicable company, what's not to like. Definitely going in again. Outside seating is now enclosed in a wonderful new conservatory complete with subtle lighting. The log fire keeps it nice and warm for those chilly evenings. I believe it is available to hire for private dining or functions.

Visiting Weston, family of 4. Last week we had a horrendous meal in a Harvester in Nuneaton, Midlands, but the Old Inn at Hutton in Weston had been recommended as a hidden gem. Lovely setting in an old, comfortable and cosy village pub. Pleasant waiting staff, meals ordered with hope ... and when they arrived it was wow! Huge cheese and mushroom omelettes with hot, tasty chips and fresh salad. The mixed grill was still sizzling! The gammon was juicy. Everyone was enjoying their meal and saying how lovely it tasted to the lady waiting the table. And then the dessert - I know others enjoyed what tasted like home made ice-cream full of flavour, and I had been tempted by the flavour choices (rum & raisin being a favourite), but they missed a trick with the 'cheesecake of the day' - honeycomb flavour with crushed honeycomb topping and thick vanilla ice-cream. The presentation was amazing. Taste sensation! I chatted to the chef and owner afterwards to say how fantastic our food, staff and experience had been. This little pub never packs people in to the rafters deliberately to ensure that all customers get piping hot fresh food from the kitchen. This will now be our go-to every time we visit Weston! I can't recommend The Old Inn highly enough. Thank you for a fantastic meal that we were still talking about the next day.

A great evening. Atmosphere great, food great. We all loved it. The staff are helpful and friendly. Leon served us and extremely helpful especially when I wished to check how hot/spicy a sauce may be he let me try a little bit.😋 And it was lovely. Goon gluten free options too. Nothing was too much😊 will be back definitely.

We called to the old inn on Friday lunchtime,2 adults and 2 young children,we were given a perfect table just right for a 14 month old.The staff were very polite and friendly,the drinks very good and the food excellent and well priced,could not fault this place at all,first class,will call again.

We were on holiday down the road so visited The Old Inn three times for lunch, just drinks and dinner. The staff are so friendly, we took our dogs on two occasions and they were looked after too. The locals we met were chatty and friendly and we felt like it was our local. We wish we could move it to be near our home! We all said how lovely it was to see a pub busy and vibrant. Like the good old days! It obviously has a good reputation locally. The menu is very varied and omg the food was delicious and plentiful. We thoroughly recommend you try this place, booking is recommended for evenings and weekend lunchtimes.

First time visit with family, and it was excellent! The meals were delicious and the staff excellent - would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon!

The food here is always good but really on Friday night it was exceptional for me. The special on the menu was Tuna Niciose. Absolutely to die for. It was perfection. This is a pub (the only pub) in a village with a restaurant area, a bar and main area. Dogs and chldren welcome.

Fantastic pub!! I stay away all over the place for work and visit hundreds of pubs a year!! This one is in my top 10!! Lovely food at great prices!! Booze at good prices!! A gem!!

It was my husband and his brothers birthday so we wanted to go somewhere for lunch. We hadn't been to The Old Inn for ages and as it was open on a Monday we booked a table. It was amazing, all the food we had was lovely. We had 3 courses. The staff were lovely, plenty of them and we didn't have to wait long. We will definitely be back. Thoroughly enjoyable day and the sun was shining.

if you want a quiet meal, don't go here, we sat outside and it was very noisy, loud, and shouting to next tables locals had their dogs with them and did not bother to look after them, wandered anywhere, food was good but nothing special, and a reasonable price Car park is not adequate enough and had to park on the road

Great English village pub, restored beautifully

Great food again. Not a big choice as lactose intolerant and vegetarian but staff were very helpful. Good Size portions. The rest of my group were very happy with their meals which were hot and freshly cooked. Service is good.

Gorgeous food - tasty and piping hot. Took around 30 minutes for the order to come, which was great as we knew everything was freshly cooked. Lovely atmosphere and very busy. We had king prawn linguine, sirloin steak, gammon and vegetable lasagne - all lovely. Will definitely return.

The fish & chips were tasty. unfortunately I can't comment on the dessert menu as unlike the table next to us I wasn't offered the chance to look at it. which was a shame as I love ice cream! but watching the old boy next to us scoff his custard down, I'm guessing it was good. Service was a bit slow, I had to go and ask for our bill. I would eat here again.

A superb family meal, an excellent choice of meals, that were freshly cooked and more than plentiful! I had food envy of the other dishes coming out! The children’s menu was far more than the usual, again, freshly cooked and wholesome. Ed, the Head Chef came to check on us mid meal, a lovely touch. The pub was full, the atmosphere was good, bustling but not rowdy, really good! 100% we will be back - booking is essential!

We ate here Saturday evening and Sunday lunchtime for the carvery. The food was fantastic on both occasions. The meal on Saturday was amongst the best I have ever had and the carvey was THE best I have ever had by a country mile.

I ate here with friends on Monday (11th March) and we all enjoyed our meals. The only slight criticism with my chicken tagliatelle alfredo was that it was served on a plate, not a pasta dish. I've never had a pasta meal served on a plate ever before! It looked like it was served up in a hurry as the pasta had spread all across the plate, and the chicken was placed on top of the pasta, so the meal was spread all over the plate. A pasta dish would have prevented this! The presentation wasn't good, however, my chicken tagliatelle alfredo was delicious. We all ordered desserts, which were pricey for the small portions, but they were delicious.

Has to be one of the best Sunday lunches around! The food is cooked beautifully, fresh vegetables cooked perfectly not mush like a lot of carverys and the staff are so friendly. Have to try the deconstructed prawn cocktail it's the size of a ploughman's! Will definitely be going back

What a great place to eat. Excellent food and generous portions. Our group had two of the pies, the big burger and the salmon. All superb. Really friendly and attentive and nice pub atmosphere. Would highly recommend

We booked a table for 2 for dinner, we were visiting Weston Super Mare for the weekend so booked here based on the location & reviews and we wasnt disappointed! From the moment we walked through the door, the service was fantastic. We were seated straight away to our table, asked if we would like a drink and given the menus. The menu has a fantastic selection, we couldn’t believe how much choice there was and there was a specials board too! I chose pate for starter, then we had chilli con carne & spagetti bolognaise for mains. The portions were a great size, presented really well & delicious! Throughout the evening, the service continued to be exceptional. The female & male who served us all evening were lovely (unfortunately, i didn’t get their names) . We had apple pie & choc fudge cake for dessert which again were delicious! The portion of the choc fudge cake was huge! We will definately be coming back when we are next in the area in a couple of months time. Thankyou to the staff for making our evening lovely!!!

Driven past for many years and never stopped. Phoned and booked. A very busy local pub, Bar very busy as it was Friday night. Very good friendly atmosphere. Shown to our table in the restaurant side. 1st Class table service. We all had 3 courses. The food portions are very good sizes. The food is beautiful and local sourced and very very tasty. Wow! What a fabulous meal. Good size portions, full of flavour, and great service from the friendly staff. They have a great selection of real ales etc..... and they know how to pour a clear pint. Highly recommend anyone to visit. Dog friendly too.

A gorgeous character village pub of the type we're sadly losing. Good food, nice wines, brilliant staff (particularly the Manager who does a fantastic job) and a wonderful atmosphere. Been going for a few decades when visiting family in the area, always have a great time. Well worth a visit, but be sure to book if you want to eat, it's very popular!

The meals are superb at the Old Inn in Hutton. I think our waiter was called Leo, and he was a friendly young man. The meals are fair sizes, you won't leave the pub hungry! The pub itself needs a bit of a sprucing up as it's looking tired and shabby in places - hence the 4 stars, but the meals are simply delicious.

Wholesome, country pub atmosphere with such high quality food! Double page menu so lots of choice for everyone and even Chefs specials which are a treat. Love coming here, staff and amazing and our meals have never been disappointing.

Before anyone reading this jumps to conclusions about me being a serial restaurant complainer to get money off, I am not. This is an honest review of my experience at The Old Inn. I have left plenty of positive reviews of restaurants - when they are justified. Anyway, I’d booked a table of 8 for my Dad’s 80th on a Saturday night. Due to the party size we had to pre-order our mains the week before “to avoid disappointment”. I duly gave the order of 8 meals and asked for a read back. All seemed correct. We arrived and got seated. Our drinks order was taken and we asked to see the starter menu. This seemed to add a bit of confusion to the proceedings as we hadn’t pre booked these. Nothing was mentioned about pre ordering starters during the conversation earlier in the week. Anyway we eventually got our starter order in and happy days. I’d ordered a plain cheeseburger for my son and asked for that to come with the starters. The starters arrived - I’d ordered the “half rack” of ribs. My word, these ribs consisted of 3 bones and no meat. Shocking. Everyone on the table couldn’t believe what had been served. I asked to see the manager as I clearly wasn’t happy. The “manager” turned up and his attitude was disgusting. Very condescending and absolutely no attempt to set things right. No offer of a replacement. To be honest I was stunned. My son’s cheese burger arrived - without cheese. They then offered to give a small bowl of cheese on the side as an alternative. We asked to have the cheese melted - not unreasonable as all other cheeseburgers in the world are like this. This was also an effort. The final straw was my brother’s meal didn’t arrive as it wasn’t on the list of preordered food. I know it was as I’d made them read back the 8 meals at time of order. To be fair it did turn up quite quickly but appeared to be rushed and thrown together. Overall a very very disappointing experience. We have used this pub for years whilst visiting Weston but will not be back again. The attitude and food quality was poor - certainly not worth the few hundred pounds we spent. I didn’t get the manager’s name but he needs to be sent on a customer service course. Absolutely terrible attitude.

The meals in this pub are exceptionally good. We have eaten here many times in recent months and always been very pleased with the food. Although the menu is extensive, we have never had anything but an excellent experience. It is presented very much as a pub, rather than a pretentious bistro. It is cosy and the staff are delightful. We love it!

Sunday carvery... Was absolutely gorgeous

I booked a table for 6.30pm and we sat inside. Service was very good and as soon as we sat down the waitress appeared to take out drinks order - a pint of Palmers, Tribute, half pint of coke, a mixer and 250mls of Malbec - total bill £20.65 which in the current climate is very reasonable. The food order was taken and looked very appetising when it arrived. It had definitely been freshly cooked. Scampi tails, tenderloin, fish and chips and king prawn linguine - generous portions and good value. Three of us had a dessert - raspberry cheesecake, Balieys cheesecake and sorbet - all apparently delicious. The Baileys cheese cake was a bit expensive at £8.75 Total bill £99.20 - so less than £25 per person for 2 courses and a drink - good value Staff were very helpful I will definitely visit again

Best steak pie my other half has ever had! Both meals very reasonably priced and very tasty! Also a good selection of ales on the bar. Stayed the night locally and made sure we booked a table due to having our dog with us. Only downside was the size of the car park, if other patrons had parked better then we wouldn’t have had to park down the other end of the hamlet.

4 of us for meal and drinks. Nice setting , we had our pre-meal drinks outside in evening sunshine. All of us enjoyed our meals, the main course was served hot and the staff were very friendly and attentive.I can recommend the fudge cake and the steak and Stilton pie. Car park at rear, good traditional English pub atmosphere.
