The Captains Cabin Bar & Restaurant in North Somerset

This was our first visit to Captains Cabin in a very long time, and we left the venue at the end of the evening agreeing we would definitely be back again soon. For anyone who has never been to the venue, from the outside you may think it is fairly small, but in true Tardis fashion once you walk through the main door the venue continuously opens up to bigger and bigger areas. On arrival you walk into a really nice-looking bar area with a pool table, with plenty of seats. The venue has a wide selection of beers, ales, wines and spirits and we were welcomed by a friendly lady behind the bar. After purchasing our drinks, we walked through the restaurant area before walking downstairs into an outside sun terrace. The sun terrace was big and has an amazing view across to Wales, the North Devon coast, Weston, and its surrounding areas. On an evening, the sunsets really are amazing and seeing is believing. There is also a well-stocked bar in the sun terrace so you can buy your drinks from here as well. After a drink we then decided it was time to proceed to the restaurant which was our main purpose for our visit. We were welcomed by a friendly gentleman who went through the menu with us. We decided to have Panko Whitebait and a Scotch Egg for our starters, both were massive portions and tasted perfectly. For our mains we had a Cider battered cod, pressed peas, curry sauce and chips and a Peri-Peri Chicken with salad and chips, again both portions were massive, and both dishes were perfect. Sadly, as all the portions were so large we didn’t have room for one of the tasty desserts on the menu. We returned to the bar area where we got chatting with both staff and a were made to feel really welcome. We would both highly recommend a visit to Captains Cabin, if not for the amazing food, for the amazing views from the outside sun terrace instead.

Well, I can't big this place up enough. Hidden gem?.?.....it's a wonderful secret hideaway. The bar staff were immediately welcoming and because we'd booked a Sunday lunch we weren't disappointed yet others turning up on the off chance that weren't so lucky. It's a hive of activity, food was fabulous, service was superb, ( still could do with extra staff ), Drink service was brill. Live artist Harrisen was cool . We had an absolute fabulous day thank you. A hidden gem and away from the normality of further down the road into WSM. Sunday lunch was to die for. Ham egg and chips, best ever. what more do you want to hear!. Top banana

Myself and a friend had a meal at the Captains Cabin tonight. It was absolutely divine. Super service and delicious food. Would highly recommend this place. It has a beautiful view and is so peaceful. Get yourselves down there. Thank you Ashley.

We found this by chance. It's a pub, it's a restaurant, and it's a bistro. Road level entry, its typical pub. Down a level its a restaurant, and down further it has a lovely sunny terrace. We were there for a light lunch, and they did some wonderful sandwich type options, with slaw, salad etc. The restaurant menu looks good. Would like to have stayed longer, lovely friendly staff, dog friendly in all but the restaurant.

Absolutely diabolical! Very clicky atmosphere! Extremely rude bar staff! (Young girl behind the bar) waited over 10 minutes to get served whilst she served all her mates that arrived to the bar after I did! When I said I’ll go elsewhere, she said Go On Then!!

Fantastic pub with a good atmosphere. There's also a fantastic roof terrace with good views.

Nice place with bar and restaurant. Good views in the restaurant overlooking the sea. Usual tap beers and one real ale available. Bar is very cosy with ship memorabilia and low lighting. It also as a pool table and dartboard and is also dog friendly in the bar area. Staff were friendly and polite. Enjoyed my visit.

We’ve visited this restaurant previously and not been disappointed. Decent prices for really good home made food. Service was, as always, very good considering they were missing a couple of staff. How they manage to produce such quality food in such a small kitchen is a mystery. Hopefully, we’ll return again soon. Probably Weston super mare’s best kept secret diner.

Such a nice change to be greeted by warm friendly staff, drinks prices are good, atmosphere is great. Fantastic views if you sit downstairs on the terrace:)

Went for Sunday lunch with the wife.Both had the Lamb Shank absolutely delicious.

We had a party of 5 for a Sunday roast, We arrived early for a drink first then we head to our set ware we had a lovely view even though it was over cast,

Popped in last night had such a lovely dinner at Captains Cabin Atmosphere, service was welcoming . I had the burger which was cooked perfectly, my husband had fish & chips - the fish was beautiful with a nice thin batter. When visiting our son this will be our go to place from now on.

Popped in for Sunday lunch after a walk on the beach. Was asked if we'd booked, we hadn't and as it was just past 12 we could eat. Heard phone call to say they were fully booked, must have been later as it wasn't very busy. Food portions were good, side dish of vegetables, the red cabbage tasted quite strong (cinnamon), not to my taste.

Great option for a Sunday lunch. Friendly, quick service, good food. Easy parking next door in the Birnbeck Pier car park.

Great place, lovely homely feel and great atmosphere. The sun terrace at rear is something else, its a lovely sun trap, with great views. Did not mark for food as not eaten there. Overall just a great place.

Food was terrible deep fried roast potatoes that tastes of fish ,my chips tasted of fish so I guess they are using the same frier for all . We have been there over the years and it's been great food but new owner have not kept the same standard up real shame as it used to have a great reputation. We were not the only ones today other people asked for a refund on there food weil we were sitting there eating big shame was a lovely pub and staff were nice just the food let it all down good place to drink but be careful of the food

So...our experience. Husband ordered a cider ,not his favourite but we were going to eat. Asked lad behind bar could we get food. Yes and we could order there or go in other room. Decided restaurant and sat down. Girl came over and said they had absolutely no food and not to take no notice of the lad behind bar. Husband slightly hacked off was then approached by another guy who asked if we wanted anything. Told him what we had been told to which his seemed very confused and said there was no carvery, but there was other meals. By this point my husband had had enough of the cock-up and wanted to go. He thanked the guy for trying to sort the situation. On leaving we passed the girl who had said there was no food. Husband then says as food is in the hatch ready to be served that 'they do have food then!' Girl then asks me as I walk by was I alright. Yes I reply. Are you sure she asks , yes I say. Maybe a little better communication between staff and more training. Thanks though to the staff member who tried to correct the matter.

Lovely sun terrace with great views and good food. Good place to stop if you're cycling the pier to Pier way (good bike racks for up to 15 bikes by the terrace.

I am sure my visit was not the normal people experience. The chef is very good and food well presented, my choice the sea bass was more a starter than a main and left me only a quarter full. I had to return my beer the normally excellent butcombe as it had off flavours and a taste reminiscent of beer ullage (slops to those not in the trade). I think I upset the waitress as I somehow managed to sit myself down without discovery which may explain why I was not asked if I wanted a dessert.

Had a great time there out on the terrace looking out to sea. On a sunny day well worth a visit

Went there Saturday and there was a brilliant band on I think they were called the JD experience

Everyone should go to the Captains cabin, the views are amazing and the fish and chips pretty good too.

Had 2 Course meal .Had to wait for main meal but was worth the wait. Beautiful setting lovely lady running things she must be worth her weight in gold nothing to much trouble. Amazing food

Just had a really top class sea food sharing plate with a side of chips. On the starter menu but a seriously good meal on it's own so be careful if you order mains as well! Very pleasant staff and lovely location for dining al fresco on the terrace. Little slow on the service but probably due to being a little short staffed. Highly recommend compared with what was on offer in centre of Weston.

Loved this. Great staff. Great views over Weston bay. Food delicious. I had lasagna and Chris had pork stir-fry. Both very tasty.

Nice pub, friendly staff and great food

Absolutely delicious! My mum had the bao buns with chips, other half had chicken burger and i had the chicken, pesto and mozzerella foccacia. Everything was beautifully presented and made to perfection. Other half loves a chicken burger and said its one of the best hes ever had which is big praise. Lovely views of course as well. Food was lovely, service was poor - we were ignored for about half an hour, otherwise would have ordered dessert. Live music outside and 2 separate tracks of music playing inside clashed quite considerably.

All of the food we had was so delicious, we wouldn’t have changed a thing. Highly recommend the Brie and chorizo croquettes, the buttermilk chicken burger and the Thai curry. We will definitely be back. Very dog friendly. The staff were lovely

Best beer terrace in Weston by far, friendly staff and great selection of drinks. Can't write anything about the food as we haven't tried it yet but it always looks good when it's coming out to other customers.

Nice place. Great views of the sea. Parking is a nightmare! Be warned you need an app on your phone to pay for parking. From the council. But the signal is not good, so difficult to download the app!! Council really got that so wrong It needs sorting out.

Cheap drinks which is good! Cheap food - tastes OK but not brilliant. At busy times they need more staff - 25 mins wait at the bar! Good view of the beach from the upstairs balcony.

Really good, tasty home cooked meals. Chefs, Andy and Chloe deserve a bigger stage. Easily one of the best pies(minted lamb) I’ve ever had. Our server was a little bit quirky but it made for a great experience. I recommend this restaurant, its food,drinks and staff. Keep up the good work guys. Word will get around and you’ll be avalanched with bookings.

We had Sunday lunch for 13 of us, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent, our table had meat and vegetarian choices with all getting great reviews with plenty of veg for all. The kids options also went down well. Desserts were also top notch, will be coming back.

Had an excellent lunch last Sunday we had a family of 8 the food was the best Sunday Lunch I have ever tasted many thanks to all the staff who served us have recommended Captains Cabin to friends regards Patricia Taylor we will return

We had a lovely roast beef dinner just before the kitchen closed for the evening at 6.30pm when we visited in January. Delicious food and plenty of it. Cauli cheese and green veg served separately from the meat and roasted veg. Profiteroles to finish off with. Delicious and well worth a visit. Thank you.

Went on my own just for drink .Food looked really nice.My phone died on me so asked the not sure weather he was the boss really nice if he had charger on him which he did.Thank god .

The cabin has changed hands and clearly the new owners are seriously making a difference. I expect great things from the cabin. Always a great atmosphere and amazing views from the restaurant. Food good as well. I visited the cabin only this week and was pleased to say they have done the work and now you have a front and a side entrance. The food was good and not expensive. The service was fine as well. My only negative comments were open fire not lit. The Duke box has gone. Overall though it's a 5 star experience.

It's such a lovely welcoming pub! We have been for Sunday lunch twice this year already as it's so beautiful. We sat in the bar area next to the log fire, which was cosy. Dogs allowed in this area, too, which is great after a long walk along the seafront.

Brilliant and old time. Pool darts and restaurant, meals excellent 👌 😋. Clean welcoming staff, plus car park .room for my walking aids .

Whilst on holiday after reading reviews we decided to give the Capains Cabin a try for Sunday lunch. I have to say we was bitterly disappointed and we would not revisit. We walked into a busy bar with a customer sat at it using foul language not a good first impression. We bought our drinks and went to sit outside, as wasn't due to dine for another half hour. Outside was in need of attention, we dined in the restaurant which wasn't much better doors were grubby in need of a good clean and lick of paint, chipped walls, dropped napkins on the floor that staff walked past on numerous occasions, we're still on the floor when we left, cleaning cloth and spray left on dining tables, dirty cloths piled on a work station, toilets in need of attention doors filthy. The sunday roast wasn't nothing to write home about. No one asked was everything okay with the meal or would we like more drinks. There was a rowdy table at the top of the restaurant. In all not a good experience

Excellent. Superb food. Chef took our short notice party booking and did a smashing job. Short staffed but managed very well. Will come back when I'm down again.

I've visited once or twice before but only for drinks. It's a lovely pub with great views across the Bristol channel. Service is excellent. There was plenty of space available when we came in. There are various items on the menu, such as steaks, salads, and burgers. I had a prawn marie rose salad. There were plenty of prawns. There was also another dressing on the salad (I thought it odd as there was already the prawn dressing, but it was nice). They took a little while to bring out food but did explain that there had been a technical issue. It was worth the wait.
