The best restaurants serving British food in East Dorset South West

Clearly understaffed, food was hit and miss (Bang Bang cauliflower = hit, fries = miss), maybe OK for a quick casual experience but poor for a proper meal out. Badly run.

My husband Perry and I went to the Tuesday night quiz at this lovely olde world pub. We had a fabulous night and the landlord and landlady made us feel really welcome. Although we didn't eat, the meals that were coming out of the kitchen looked absolutely delicious. We will certainly be going back for the quiz every Tuesday and intend to take our friends there when they visit on different evenings. We will definitely be eating there also. This is a friendly and lovely pub not to be missed !

Had a wonderful lunch. Service by a waitress called Michelle was prompt and professional. She was so so helpful. We needed help with dietary needs and nothing was too much trouble. Really surprised as we had nit been before but will definitely visit again. It was a shame our meal was spoilt by arrogant rude couple next to us. They ordered the wrong meal and then tried to blame the waitress. I have no idea how she kept her polite composure! They would have worn it if they had spoken to me like that! Apart from that unpleasant incident, a clean pub with nice food and staff. Thank you !

Walked in for a few pints and some fish and chips. Fantastic food, beer and atmosphere. Very good prices, especially if you come in for a group of two. Will definitely be back before I head back to the states.

Amazing food! It was so tasty and very quick service The staff were friendly and the atmosphere relaxed and cosy. We loved the prawn starter and the special mains on the board.

You can't beat wetherspoons for service and prices, the food was excellent as usual

A last minute decision to pop into a local pub for an evening meal for two people. A great choice I must say. The food and bar service were excellent. Very welcoming and friendly staff. The food was so hot and very good quality too. I will definitely return. I nice atmosphere was also very welcome.

Absolutely love this place, my mum works there, Carol Scott and his team are so nice and the new chef is very good, (and so is Scott) ☺️Scott always welcomes us with open arms. All the customers I’ve met over the years are also super friendly and welcoming. I’ll be see you all again soon. X

The staff here did a lovely job for my Dad's wake. The food was lovely 😍 and a great day to remember our Dad. And I enjoyed staying overnight in a lovely comfy bed 🛌 😴

Had the best Sunday roast we have had for a long time, food was delicious. Roast pork with all the trimmings including crackling & huge Yorkshire puds, cooked perfectly and leaving no room for desserts. Staff are always friendly and helpful but Tasha & George were absolutely great and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back!

Hotel should be rated a 2 star. Poor service, no one at the reception desk to greet you. There's a button on a phone and wait for someone from the restaurant to come to the desk. My room 18, was dark with very little light, except for a couple of small lamps on the bedside tables and one by the entrance door. Security is a major issue, room doors do not lock properly and you must make sure to lock the door behind you!!! Was given a skeleton key to the patio door, seriously that is the best way you can lock a patio door in 2025?? Not really secure, there is NO SAFE in the room. Hotel is below standards of a 3 star and lacking in many ways. There are better and more secure hotel options nearby.

Good food. Good coffee. Good people. Stopped off mid-motorcycle ride for a put stop. Warmly greeted and made to feel welcome. Service was prompt, and the food well cooked and hot. Couldn't ask for better.
