Brilliant service. Food was lovely really nice staff amazing visit a lot and will continue to do so.

Tuna baguette was delicious and served in an informal comfortable pub.

Arrived and was told to find a seat and order at the bar, lots of tables had “reserved” on them so finding a free table proved difficult. The starter arrived with a vile dipping sauce that was suppose to be spicy tomato but when we asked the waitress she said it was “hot maple”. Very strange choice for cheese bites. We also got the festive burger that had clearly been cooked in advance as it looked very shrives and tough. The Brie had seen the burger at one point but was missing at the point of being served, and the bacon was no where to be seen. The chips were cheap oven fries that were looking very sorry for themselves. For a £60 meal it was very much over priced and not worth the money. Avoid this place

Me and my daughter had a lovely lunch here! A member of staff recommended the dessert special which was a lemon tart and it was lovely! Good size kids portion and my daughter loved her ice cream sundae dessert which was only £1.50! Great value.

The Woodman has always been a place where we would meet as a whole family for celebrations or to just get together. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is exactly what you would want when visiting. The food was amazing and very enjoyable and even though we had booked a 'slot', we were not asked to vacate the table however I do understand that if very busy we might have been asked to go to the bar area. They have a lovely garden space with a kids play area and is fantastic in the summer.

The meals were good, served hot, pub grub! The waiter was lovely. The short haired small blonde lady who i imagine is the manager needs to learn service with a smile and customer service skills. Very abrupt.. sadly a massive let down for the place as food was ok for the price

This was a short notice booking for 28 people ,the staff made everyone welcome ,great menu for adults and children ,also good for gluten free ,would highly recommend

Really good service from friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. We had breaded mushrooms for starters followed by the carvery main course and just about managed to squeeze pudding in - the food was lovely and we all enjoyed our lunch.

36 of us went for our Christmas meal last night and it was fabulous. Food delicious, staff amazing. Thank you all so much for making our stroke survivors Christmas do so good and accommodating us. The staff went above and beyond and we had a fantastic night. The turkey was delicious!

Stopped for lunch on the way back from visiting a friend. staff tried to be accommodating but let down by the food. Prawn cocktail - wilted lettuce and hard bread. Breaded mushrooms like small rocks very over cooked. Hunters chicken dry and tasteless. Disappointing and would never go again.

Went for Xmas dinner with 14 if our friends from archery and had a wonderful time, food was excellent and the service was great. James and his team deserve top marks and we would recommend the place to anyone. Go give them a try I'm sure you won't regret it 😁

We used the pub for Rover P6 group meetings and for Dorset Car Club Meetings. The staff are great and a wide variety of food at great prices.

Popped in to take our elderly neighbour for a dinner after he had just come out of hospital. He is over 70 years old and he thoroughly enjoyed his carvery and even though he loaded up his plate I didn’t think he would be able to eat it all but he did. This won’t be the last time you will see him, or us.

First visit today with family. Super carvery, good choice with hot well cooked food. Good value for money and friendly staff. Will definitely return.

Went in with my newborn baby for a quick lunch around 11am. Very friendly staff, very nice food. Service was very quick and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely going back soon, Woodman made a good first impression. Garden looked impressive so looking forward to a summer beer garden trip soon.

Building was warm, staff were very attentive & nothing was too much bother. Food was hot & my hunters chicken was the best I’ve had so far.

We went for Sunday carvery yesterday, we were very impressed. A warm welcome on a foul day. Not too busy but a nice atmosphere. Friendly staff, good service and the food was delicious. Very reasonably priced too. We've booked to go again in a couple of weeks with the rest of the family. Thanks to all the staff.

Not a bad pub and restaurant. Food is on the cheaper scale and it shows in a fair few of the meals. Service is always good and lots of choice of drinks.

Ran out of meat for the carvery before out 4pm booking for 14 people who all wanted the carvery which is why we booked the Woodman Also ran out of house white wine

Great quality of food and excellent service

We were holidaying in the area and my wife and I popped in for a Saturday evening meal. Firstly, the car park is very spacious so parking was easy. Once inside, it was clear to see that this is a well run establishment with a great menu, a cosy ambience and delightful staff. We had a lovely meal, accompanied by lovely wine. We must give a special mention to Izzy, a delightful young lady, who looked after us so well during our visit and is such a credit to the business. We were so happy to find such a great pub and we wish the whole team all the very best. Well done, guys...

Tge Woodman is a great place, been passing this place for years and never popped in until now. Our server Poppy was great and very helpful.

Went twice over the half term break nice cavrey on a Sunday and you can take the dog, great place if you have some discount codes

Enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast dinner with my family at the Woodman and was served by the wonderful Kenzie. She was very friendly, welcoming and provided the best customer service. Kids enjoyed the food, the little one is normally quite a fussy eater but managed to finish the whole plate! Excellent food and speedy service! Would definitely go back again thanks to Kenzie for providing such amazing help

James & his Team were super kind and helpful especially since I have a broken wrist and broken elbow on my left side so he was very kind helping carry my Lattes to my table and constantly checking on me. He displayed great kindness and excellent customer service skills which were greatly appreciated by me thank you!

Lovely place Lovely meal but now have to order food at bar

Ate here as was staying at the local premier inn. Staff seemed friendly enough. Very basic menu (pretty much all fried). Food appeared to be plonked on the plate/bowl and served with no attention to presentation; no garnish of any kind. Child’s pasta dish was tiny; probably ok for a 3 or 4 year old; served in very small enamel dish. Overall, food was ok and it was convenient for our stay.

The food is just average pub food, but staff very friendly and kind. Very clean and nice playground for kids outside.

Fairly standard menu, pub grub. Would like to see BBQ spare ribs on menu. Particularly like to see Gemma who is always pleasant and nice to speak to as well as doing her job well.

On entering the staff made us welcome, our meal came quite quick after our order on hot plate's and we were asked if there was anything else we wanted, during the meal we were asked if everything was ok, a pleasant experience that didn't cost a fortune, will be visiting again soon.

Very disappointing food. Poor service

This is our third visit on the last two months. On each occasion the food was excellent and larger than normal portions. We booked on line without any problems. As my husband likes beer his only criticism would be to have a better selection. Also on our second visit there was none on at all so he had Guinness. Otherwise we will return in the future.

My daughter and I came for lunch mid-week for a simple no-frills good value for money meal ... which is exactly what we got. The staff are so friendly! After ordering at the bar the food arrived in reasonable time despite our order going in just after a large wedding group order. The food was good ... we both had Lasagne and we'd both have it again ... Good simple pub food at a good price in a comfortable surrounding with friendly staff.

We went as a party of four including one person in a wheelchair. Access was easy using the wheelchair lift, so plus points there. Staff are really friendly. We ordered at the bar, no problems opening a tab for the table. Service was reasonably quick, the food arrived promptly and was ... very good. It's simple, no frills, and not pretentious, pub food at a good price. Would we go again ... yes.

We use the Woodman regularly as it is an excellent place to eat, great food, excellent service and staff.

Only disappointing aspect of the visit was the beef on the carvery was given the end of a joint it was tough and unable to eat. All the other meals were fine 6 out of 8.

So below standard i am surprised by the positive reviews on here. Greeted when we arrived and were told to find our own table. Queued for a while at the bar to place order as only one staff member serving there. This staff member was friendly and helpful. I will give her 10/10. Food took ages to arrive. When my spicy burger with onion rings got to my table it was stone cold. Waitress took it back to the kitchen where it is apparent that it was just microwaved. The only positives i can find is that the place is clean and the staff have a smile when serving.

We have been going to the Woodman for the last year usually every month so this is just a little hiccup on Saturday night our sons birthday. I had called in at 1400hrs on the Saturday to book the table and the young lady said it was all booked on the computer, unfortunately when we arrived the table was occupied. Our son explained to the people and they very kindly moved, no sign of a reserved notice on the table. I went to order the meals and drinks, a different young lady served us, i ordered two half,s of beer and received a pint and a half ,i pointed it out to her and she apologised and said she would alter it on the computer , asked her again and she confirmed that she had done it. Low and behold when i paid and got the bill she hadn,t. I know staff have to learn and it was busy on Saturday night but im sure you dont want to get too many reviews like this

There was a rude member of staff there when I went. Becuase there wasn’t a sign wait to be seated so we sat down and she got very rude and shirty with us. Food was great.

Terrible, not sure what has happened to this place it used to be good. Avoid at all costs The person who we met to check reservation (wish I asked for name) seemed unable to communicate at the most basic of levels. Just seemed angry and absent of any type of personality suited to working with people. struggled to find a table in a room full of empty tables. (we had booked) Dirty sticky tables, we asked to wipe (3 times) they did not. Waited an hour for food but they never told us there might be a wait. I went to ask how long it would be and the mentioned lady devoid of empathy or emotional intelligence said proudly another 15 minutes. When I said we have been waiting an hour why did she not tell us, she seemed to catch a falling star out of the corner of her eye and exhaled arggggh and could not produce anything resembling a word or sentence. Food was shocking, like they had cooked someone's leather shoe soles. provided with cold chips, stale bread. There was one amazing lady in a striped top who cleared all tables and service all food, god bless her. Not sure what she has done to deserve working with these others

Great pub if you’re in the campsites and don’t want to cook. Thoroughly recommend the mixed grill. Had it 2 nights in a row 😋

We shared a Tuesday evening midweek meal here, and it was fabulous.. the staff in particular were excellent and are all a credit to your company.

A member of staff greets us as we walk through the door and take us to a table sometimes to our choice depending how busy they are. Selecting our meals and drinks are taken at the bar area and usually the drinks are brought to us and then the meals when they are ready, on every occasion without doubt our meals have been excellent which is the main reason for returning to give ourselves an occasional treat. We have tried other restaurants in our area but none as good as he Woodman

Food was very average and the service was average. I had the beef burger which was a burger in a average bun, 1 pice of lettuce and a bit of sauce. The food here is nothing special, beer is over priced. I paid £6.20 for a pint of Moretti, its usually a little cheaper in nicer establishments.

Excellent service and excellent value for money. If we were here longer, we'd definitely be going back.

Thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food and portion size during our recent visit. We ordered mixed grill (extra chips), 8oz rump + peppercorn sauce and kids meal - all with drinks. Only negative comment was amount of peppercorn sauce in the jug, but that’s a small point. Will be returning and recommend this pub - child friendly and good play area. Well done Woodman Team 👍

Visited many times before . All staff are very polite and attentive throughout the evening. We ordered via the app which was very easy to use. Drinks arrived very promptly and food soon after. Food very very nice. Best burger I’ve ever had ( no lie) Overall left very happy and satisfied, nothing could have been better. Definitely 10⭐️ and will definitely return and will definitely recommend to family and friends .

Arrived at a busy pub without a reservation, but the team managed to fit us in with a smile. Food was served quickly and was excellent value for money. All team members were friendly and accommodating. Well done all. Definitely reccomend.

The food was amazing. I had the steak and my mother had the hunters chicken. The staff was very happy and friendly. I liked that dogs were allowed in if they were well behaved. Will definitely be returning ❤️
