Nice fish and chips, but best to avoid on a Friday evening, as despite pre ordering online for a specific time I still ended up waiting for half an hour after that time passed. Lots of unhappy customers in the same position.

Worst Savloy I have ever had. Second worst Jumbo sausage I have ever had. Chips all bitty small crunch and soaked in out. Truly appalling for the price.

The worst chips I have ever had. How do you burn chips like that?! Over fried, full of oil with every bite! Such a small portion for this and a drink £4.80 what a total waste of money!!! Avoid this place! Time of visit 17:25 and there was hardly anyone inside for them to rush my small order of chips?!!!

Ordered a large cod and large chips, the large cod looked smaller than a medium, when I questioned it they said this is a large!

Came in for cod and chips and was welcomed by a lovely lady by the name of Leslie, she was ever so polite and kind and suggested the haddock, I had never had it before and am so glad she made the suggestion as it was a lovely meal. A very big thank to herself and a thank you to the other staff who were friendly and polite, this is a fantastic place and I will certainly be back for more I could recommend more if I wanted.

Chose a 3 as sometimes the chips are really good and well cooked other times poor white and undercooked It seems to depend on who is cooking them

Been buying from here for 9 years +. Very good value for money, always queueing, they are worth it. Would benefit from Gluten Free batter too. Friendly staff, and eady to park.

Not too bad, could do better though. The haddock was cooked beautifully, however the batter wasn't quite melt in the mouth crisp. The chips were very tasty, but.... oh dear, at least a quarter of them were less than an inch long. Maybe I was just unlucky to get the bits from the batch. Biggest disappointment was the curry sauce, not the taste which was fantastic, but the quantity. The pot was literally half full. Nonetheless, it filled a hole after a day out 🙂

I'm not from the area and was visiting family, but had used this establishment previously several years ago and was more than happy on those occasions. However, having read recent reviews I was a little reluctant to go back this time, but was pleased I did. The staff were friendly enough and the food was cooked well, plentiful and hot. We didn't have fish, which is always the test for any fish restaurant, but we were more than happy with what we had.

We bought fish and chips last Wednesday as had some visitors and had raved about the fish and chips from here. What a let down- I ordered online at 4.40 to be picked up at 5, order was already kept ready on the side when my partner picked it up. When he got home the chips were stale and cold. It felt like they had refried the left over chips from the afternoon. Some were so chewy and burnt. The fish cakes we ordered were dry and my guest did not eat it at all. The fish wasn’t temperature hot either. The only thing that was appreciated was a steak pie. After spending nearly £30 you expect good food. Won’t be visiting anytime soon. Sorry

Jumbo battered sausage and chips and food was fab as ever.

£3.20 for a std portion of chips and a home made fishcake which was so awful it went in the bin. Plus a large sausage came to £9.10. Avoid like the plague Overpriced and low quality food.

I've just seen my post from 4 years ago. How things change. Not used the shop since 2021 as I moved away. Went yesterday and picked up for my family. Three of us now have severe diarrhea. Won't be spending the best part of £50 again!!

I have been going to long John's for years but just recently the sizes have got smaller and smaller and the prices go up and up. I ordered a large plaice and chips. Chips JUST about covered the bottom and the plaice slapped on top. When we asked the girl to see how many chips we have she got all defensive and said its large and nothing she can do. Another young lad who wasn't standing out the back talking asked if we where OK. So we said you call that a large and he smiled and gave that look of yes. After a nice chat he gave us some extra chips. Top marks to him, food was ok but alot of grease. Real shame no idea what's happened as this was always a 5 star fish and chip restaurant. Updated November 2023. Missing food from my order. Phoned up to say an item was missing and was asked what would you like me todo about it! In a really rude way so hung up. Seriously the last time I will EVER visit, over priced and rude staff!!

Inedible junk. Second time around and never to be repeated. Sadly, this establishment has a monopoly as a fish and chip shop establishment in Wimborne. My advice: Go elsewhere instead and send these people a clear message. Not worthy of one star.

I really enjoyed my jumbo battered sausage and was served by the young trainee who was very good at his job and very polite. it was quick service and packaged really well. The portion sizes were good value for money. would recommend to anyone who loves a sausage chips

Ordered two small fish and portion of chips £16 which l thought was a bit steep. We were on a caravan park about 2miles away. When we got back to the park and looked at our supper we were shocked to see that there was only 1 portion of fish and half a portion of just batter. I phoned the shop and told them l was coming back for a full refund. Which l did and the assistant didn't even comment. So that says alot.

Bought 2 lunchtime cod and chips and they were huge, easily enough chips for 4 people.

My favourite takeaway in wimborne, I've been coming here my whole life and I couldnt recommended them more, I've been meaning to leave a review for a while as I'm a very frequent customer and every single time I go in I leave smiling. The staff are possibly even better than the food.

Had the £10 deal tonight, 2 x small cod and large chips, I expected very small fish for that price, but no, the portions were great and very very tasty! Excellent service and everyone was very organised. Thank you for a great tea after a long tiring day!

Click and collection service great , on time collection. Bought 6 cod and chips , sausage and pea fritters all good very well , crispy batter lovely tasty food ,all the family very impressed , will certainly be returning . Thank you for great meal.

Fantastic chippy ran by really lovely people. Connor specifically is a fantastic person who takes time to explain and help with whatever questions you may have, whether it's deals, specials or allergens he will patiently assist you. Overall a great place, the potatoes are freshly cut on the day and the sausages are also great, nothing is frozen here. I come here for their lunchtime deals at least once a week

Given the fish is cooked to order I had a large fish , half was decent but the other half was so thin it was pretty dry and crispy. With the high prices you need to keep quality high

Used to be lovely through the door not even a smile then food that was full of grease and not nice at all . Used to be open later and u always got good service but now slow undercooked sausages and full of grease yuk

Long John's do the best fish and chips in the world. Even better than any I've had at the seaside. The chips are so crispy and so fluffy inside. I grew up in Wimborne so Long John's fish and chips were all I knew, I didn't appreciate how good they were until I moved away. You can't find fish and chips like them anywhere else! Although not terribly cheap, the portions are very generous.

Apart from superb Fish and Chips, the reason I go to Long John's is their most cheerful helpful service. Other Fish and Chip shops make you use an app and are totally inflexible. Some even say they have no facility to take an order over the phone ! What ? a pen and paper ! Long John's take your order in any way it helps you. Not so many places like this where you get such good food and service.

Stopped in to grab some dinner on my way home from a long work trip. Food is great, staff are lovely. Nice, clean shop, varied menu.

Used to be a great place. Again they did not take my order correctly. Their loss in money. And the fish portions are disgraceful. It’s not a mistake. They are clearly cutting up the fish into smaller portions. A standard cod is not oblong and only 5 inches long. The large haddock is actually what a small should be. So £17 for a portion of chips. An over large fish finger and batter with some fish in it. Very sad to see. Your staff could do with a lesson in smiling.

My partner and I popped in this morning to pick up some fish and chips for my grandparents and had a great experience. We ordered 2 small cod and chips and 2 large fish and chips with a young man and after we had paid and were waiting for our food a more senior member of staff (we assumed manager/owner) called us over to tell us that there was a deal where we could add a drink to 2 of our meals and get them cheaper. He didn’t have to do that as the young lad on the till hasn’t told us about any deals (he did a great job but we assumed he was new) so we were really grateful he made the effort to save us money! He refunded us the difference immediately. Really quick service and we could see everything was being cooked freshly and was hot when we were handed the food. All the meals were great, outstanding fish, crispy batter and lovely chips - grandparents and my partner and I all agreed one of the best fish and chips we’d ever had! 10/10 would recommend for both food quality and customer service. The only thing I would say is that the large portion of chips is pretty big, we would share 1 between the two of us next time!

Went into wimborne branch for first time will be last, person with glasses served me was very unenthusiastic any attempt on my part of pleasantries was met with a blank expression. When my order was ready was met with the same expression. There was novannouncement my order was ready just dead eyes and no smile. Wareham branch has soul, will go there instead to feel good about spending my money.

Drop into this chippy when randomly looking for a quick chippy lunch. Whilst not that impressive from the outside , nothing off putting though inside it is clean and straight forward traditional takeaway fish and chip shop and all the better for it. The staff were friendly and helpful , pointing out that they were doing lunch time special offer. I chose the chips , battered sausage and a drink for £4.95 and it was really very good. The the battered sausage was excellent nice crisp batter and the chips were the best I have had in a long time , proper chips properly cooked. Having found this place by chance when passing , in future I would go out of my way to go back. Give this local business , that is that dying breed of traditional fish and chip shop your support.

Having ordered meals for 11 people for my husbands birthday I was very disappointed that when we got home we found we were one meal short. Not a good scenario! I phoned the next day and was given profuse apologies by a nice lady who said that someone would contact me regarding reimbursement. No contact has been made! Not very good customer care I’m afraid. I will think twice about using this service again for a special occasion.

Absolutely fantastic, ordered in advance to collect so we could eat before seeing Jim Davidson at the Tivoli as we were coming from Weymouth and it was too early to eat before we left Order ready on time, portion sizes good, food delicious plus really helpful and friendly staff ☺️ We ate in the large car park just up the road We'll do the same thing next time we go to the Tivoli, worked perfectly, thanks so much!

Dear Long John , we ate , (tried to eat) your fish and chips but gave up due to nausea, fish was greasy small and unable to identify, chirps were indestructible, you are are a F&C take away ! How can you get a basic meal so wrong , culinary skills lost, no second chance for us to try you again .thank god your career path did not involve something worthwhile

I bought fish and chips for my residents at Abbeyfield Harleston house they all absolutely loved the fish and chips Lovely and fresh and well cooked and they are a tough crowd! Staff were very helpful and accommodating! Throughly recommend! We will be back!!

Very disappointed in the customer service. Ordered 4 small fish and chips, charged £36.80. Only after ordering did I see there was an offer 2 small fish with large chips for £10, which was only advertised in the front window and not inside. So if I ordered 2 of these would have been £20, a saving of £16.80. The member of staff taking my order did not suggest or offer me that option and when I asked about it when they gave me my food order, there was no acknowledgement of my concern or offer to remedy it. Very poor! Won't be returning.

Ordered for Just Eat delivery via the Long John website. The order never arrived, phoned the shop's contact nr on the order confirmation email. The tel nr didn't exist and my phone provider alerted that it was potentially a Spam/suspicious number. So googled the shop's nr, and they couldn't careless! Eventually after repeatedly asking for assistance, the only suggestion was for me to go Just Eat. Eventually managed to get a refund initiated via the Just Eat chat function. The lack of customer service by both parties, means i won't be using either again.

Food is excellent but I wouldn't recommend dropping in on a Sunday dinner time to order as they are inundated with online orders and deliveries. A 20 minute wait turned into nearly an hour! Not fun when you're hungry but the place is busy because it's popular! Will order online for delivery next time to avoid the wait.

This fish and chip shop has been serving top quality food for years. There's a que what ever day you go there, but worth the wait!

Not been to Long John's for at least two years but popped in yesterday for a treat. Everything was absolutely perfect, great fish and excellent chips. Not to mention the friendly and welcoming staff. Will make sure the next visit doesn't take another 2 years. Top job 👍
