Fabulous pub. Great character, great food and great bar man. Free sample of new beer given and the food was perfect. Ploughman’s and gammon, egg, chips, peas and tomato - gorgeous. Definitely looking forward to going back

Been here a number of times, as kids love the staff. We have eaten from the main menu which is good, however the roast dinner is on a different level, but make sure you book your table, as it gets really busy and sells out fast!

Based on previous reviews we came for Sunday lunch whilst on holiday nearby. We were not disappointed. Service was prompt, friendly & courteous with drinks arriving shortly after arrival. We each a had a different main course with the roast beef and gammon being particularly tasty and all dishes being piping hot. All this at an extremely competitive price. We would thoroughly recommend The Green Man re and would not hesitate to return.

Wow what a wonderful pub to find on our first visit to Wimborne. Lovely Sunday lunch, staff were very friendly and efficient. Very reasonable price for Sunday roast. Highly recommend we will be back whilst we are here.

Went here for the second time for a nut roast today and was not disappointed,,, plenty of freshly cooked vegetables and crispy potatoes, I highly recommend.

I visit this pub reasonably frequently being a Wimborne Town fan and most recently for the folk festival. Its a traditional old pub with fire and beams and the Wadworth beer is always superb. Staff are always friendly and the pub is frequented by a loyal local clientele. If you want to visit an old school pub in keeping with Wimborne's traditional rural history, then visit the Green Man.

12 of us went for Sunday lunch, inc 3 children and the service and food was very good for a little old pub. The price was very reasonable considering we had lunch and desert with drinks too. It’s not the most glamorous of places, very traditional, but warmth, service and food outweighed all of that. Will definitely return.

It was a Steak Night and the food, service and cost were exemplary. Steak perfectly cooked and the ambience, for a solo patron. was excellent. Big thank you to them.

Had to do a review! First time we’ve visited this pub and have to say the food was fabulous. Went for Fish Friday but didn’t realise it was served in a box ‘to go’ or eat in. So decided to pay extra for China plates! 🤣 Fish was lovely. Then had rhubarb and berry crumble with ice cream. Again wonderful. This is a typical English pub. Nice atmosphere. Shall return when in area

All I can say is AMAZING! The pub is very hidden in Wimborne and is very welcoming to not only humans, but to dogs to. The bar lady offered a treat and water to our cocker spaniel. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was nice and it was great customer service! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

After searching in vain for a Ploughman's lunch, we used the power of FB, & joined Bournemouth Community Board, for recommendations. The Green Man was on the list, so off we went. We were first struck by the lovely atmosphere, & the very warm welcome from Sadie (I swear she is either magic, or wears invisible roller skates!) I finally got my Ploughman's lunch, after a week of searching! Oh my, it was HUGE. Gorgeous Dorset cheddar wedges, & thick slices of local ham. Sadie very kindly boxed up (quite beautifully) the remainder, when I was beaten. My husband had the Green Man burger... WOW! It should be on a man vs food challenge. The food was outstanding, staff amazing & great prices. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

The Green Man has everything you want from a cosy town pub. I had lunch there with my wife and our dog. There was a nice log fire burning and we were all made very welcome. There’s a good choice of cider, wine and beer (I loved my two pints of ‘Swordfish’ – but at 5% I was glad my wife was driving!). Although they have quite a comprehensive ‘pub grub’ menu we only wanted a simple meal, so both chose a jacket potato stuffed with cheese and mushrooms. It was served promptly with lots of nice trimmings. At just under a fiver each it represented excellent value (Jan 2023).

Today we had our Christmas meal at The Green Man. The food was tasty and hot and not too long to wait between courses. The food is sourced using the local Fishmonger, The local Fruit and Veg shop and the local Butchers. I can’t praise the staff highly enough. They were very friendly, attentive and accommodating. Nothing too much trouble when we needed anything else. I can highly recommend the Green Man. Thank you so much everybody for making it a very enjoyable occasion.

We visited at lunch time today with my in-laws and young children. The pub was busy and waitresses had to work very hard but service was very polite and friendly and we were well looked after. The roast meals were excellent value and the beef and vegetables both perfectly cooked. Thank you.

Our favourite pub. So welcoming, with great beer. Try the Swordfish on tap, a wonderful quality ale that's very well kept. Menu is limited, but this allows them to concentrate on quality, with locally sourced ingredients. Keep up the great work.

Might seem strange to start a review of the Green Man by mentioning the Landlady of a different pub in Wimborne.. However, the Odd Fellows Arms does not do Sunday lunch and she reccomend The Green Man., even showed us the way. The Green Man is a 5 minute walk from the Minster and well worth it. Obviously we hadn't booked but the charming lady behind the bar found us a table. Good Menu with reasonable prices. We opted for Sunday Roasts with apple crumble for dessert, very nice. Total price for 2 including coffees £29. Add on two really good waitresses and we couldn't fault this experience. Would we reccomend? Definitely. Would we come again ? Definitely.

We stopped off after a long journey for food and a Guinness before the remainder of journey home and it was perfect! Just what we needed. The staff were very friendly, attentive and the food was amazing! Definitely worth a visit.

We were travelling back home and drove past the Green Man and decided to stop for a drink, but seeing the excellent menu we decided to stay, sit outside in the sunshine and being a Sunday, order a Sunday Lunch - great portion sizes (I had the smaller meal option), plus a dessert added on for just an extra £2! The Roast was proper 'home cooked' and had a good range of veg, beef and lovely gravy - the desserts were awesome and generous portions - my husband had the lovely apple crumble and custard and I had the Dorset Apple Cake and ice cream, absolutely delicious! We will be back, a reasonably priced treat, thank you!

Took mum and dad for a roast as they were visiting from Spain, and missing roast dinners. Have visited before with my other half and our dog for a drink sitting outside or a quick baguette, but never Sunday lunch or inside. Safe to say after todays visit we will be back for Sunday lunch! Great staff, lovely food, nice wine, great price and all local produce. Really just a nice quaint friendly pup where everyone is welcome. Thanks to all the staff!

Was so surprised by the Morris dancers in the car park the two nights we stayed across the road, made a great couple of days really special, staff at the green man was really friendly the dancers made my nieces day as they allowed her to join in on her wedding day, a day we will never forget xx

We had a warm welcome from our bar staff and waitress who showed us to our clean table with sticky food free menu's. (Quite often I find the menus in most pubs are tasting menus, as in you can sample most of the items on the menu just by giving it a lick)! I had the Greenman burger which was amazing, my wife had the ploughmans which she thoroughly enjoyed and Mum had the burger which went down a treat, all in all the 5* reviews that I had read were right, this pub is excellent. Great food, great ale and lovely staff that know how to look after its clientele, not much more to add really except I will certainly be going back.

I visited here with my family for a spot of lunch whilst travelling to Monkey World and it was spot on. It's a lovely quaint little pub with a friendly barman and delicious food. I had a cheese and ham toastie on brown bread and the ham was to die for. We also all shared a bowl of chips and they were cooked to perfection. Now we know it's here we'll be visiting again!

Stopped here while seeing the sights of Dorset. Super lunch and drinks at very reasonable prices. Enjoyed a ploughman’s with good quality cheese and gammon. Great Wadworth beers on draft. A very warm, welcoming and friendly bar woman served us and topped off our visit.

The green man was booked for this lunch. I am in a wheelchair and we have a large dog and this pub made everything perfect. The location was perfect with easy entrance and landlord very welcoming. The food was simple but great. Definitely going again

We had a lovely family meal at The Green Man this afternoon. Great, friendly and personal service. The food was amazing- tasty and home cooked. The little extra touches gave us a great experience, and were really appreciated. We will definitely be going back!

After being recommended their food and conveniently living in wimborne I decided to try the green Man burger! All I can say is wow! The burger was huge and very filling but extremely tasty. The chips and onion rings were cooked to perfection and can't fault any of it. Will defiantly be buying again and highly recommend. Next time I'm going to try their fish Friday ! Another compliment is they use locally sourced food to support other local businesses which is a nice touch. Thanks

So Hoomum, hoodad and me the hairy hound (well, actually not very hairy at the moment as I was scalped last week!) had done a lovely walkie around Kingston Lacy and needed some sustenance to keep us going. We'd booked a midweek lunchtime table at this friendly welcoming pub. The staff were lovely, there was a relaxed atmosphere and we all felt it had a very covid-safe atmosphere. Scrupulously clean everywhere. We happily settled down to enjoy the beer battered fish and chips, which was absolutely delicious. Sadly no room for pudding today! Highly recommended.

This is the first time I have visited this pub in a long time and it certainly has changed for the better. It is not the largest of pubs but they have done their best to make it as safe as is possible with lots of gel and wipes.The welcome was friendly and inviting as they showed us to our table. It was apparent to them that I was not that happy with where I had been allocated (due to proximity of another table, and no fuss they moved us to one with more space around it.The food was all locally sourced using the local butcher and veg shop in the town, nice to see as it is supporting the local community. In addition both the veg shop and butchers, I know from experience sells good quality produce.The service was good as we ordered the roast beef from the menu. I asked for mine to be rare if possible and as asked it came rare. There was a good selection of vegetable, all well cooked, still leaving a crisp bite rather than a soft mush. I only have two criticisms. The first being that some of my broccoli appeared to be past its best, the bit where it goes a light green verging on yellow. The second being that the vegetable could have been hotter they were warm rather than hot, one of my pet hates!My wife ordered the vegetarian roast. Likewise she said her vegetables were warm but overall she enjoyed it and said the nut roast was good.In fairness we were asked twice if we were happy with our meal, and on the whole we were. I did raise the questions of the warm vegetables at the bar when paying for the meal, hopefully they took it as constructive criticism as the rest of the meal was good.We would certainly return.

As soon as we entered the pub we were made to feel very welcome. This is a dog friendly pub and so we were directed to a space for dog owners. Immediately the dog was given some water and a treat! The staff were so friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch and found it to be excellent value! Recommend the mixed meat on the main course and the apple crumble for a dessert! The Covid precautions were excellent and the tables were all sanitised. Excellent place to come. Highly recommended.

1st visit since lockdown. Very prepared and thought through Tables spaced. The usual sanitizer and one way in and one out. Food good as always. Can’t fault it

We were doing some Sunday chores around the area and felt in need of some sustenance. As we were passing the Green Man, it was a clear choice. Absolutely the right choice too. All the meals coming out looked delicious and social distancing was being followed. All tables were fully cleansed and disinfected after each group departed. We just wanted a light meal so chose a sausage and fried onion panini for me and a bacon and egg baguette with fries. Each came with a delicious salad garnish and both meals were very tasty. We will definitely be back.

We ordered a home delivery on Friday night.... fish, chips,mushy peas, scampi and salad..all for £21 for two people.It was very tasty. Warm and really good value for money.Thanks so much for the delivery to our home in lockdown..We strongly recommend the Greenman pub in Wimborne..

We always wanted to stop off after seeing family in the area and were pleasantly surprised at the friendly face that greeted us . We found a table (no 2 ) and ordered drinks and food, my partner had the green man burger which was tasty and I had a cheese and ham omelette, ooh, it was good. The chips were cooked nice and the salad was dressed, couldn’t ask for more, even the price was great, we will return if in the area.

Had a delicious sunday roast with the family. A child and dog friendly pub. They were very busy but still found us a table and we didnt have to wait long for food or drinks. Roasts were so tasty and tasted home cooked. Prices were extremely reasonable. Puddings were great too.

a very nice traditional pub with a reasonable menu. We are a day centre from Westbourne who on a Friday take a ride into the countryside and have lunch. There were 8 of us including 1 wheelchair and 1 rollator the food and atmosphere were great and the staff made us feel very welcome. my only issue with the place was they didn't have a disabled toilet.

Good beers and very friendly staff. Highly recommended for a early evening drink all through the summer and a welcoming open fire in the winter.

Visited today with my husband for brunch. No specific vegan options for me but the owner worked with the kitchen to provide me a delicious vegan breakfast. They even came to check if I would prefer something other than chips are they are fried in a fryer that may have cooked meat/fish. My husband had the full English with black pudding, not a vegan, and really enjoyed it. He assured me that the beer was good too . Both left very full and happy.

A warm welcoming pub within easy reach of town centre.the pub is unsophisticated and a Real English old style. Staff very friendly and there to please. Being gluten free, I often struggle to find a good hearty meal. However I will certainly be returning to the green man. My trip today could be consider nothing but a delight. My belly is full of good food and my heart is full of happiness. In terms of portion sizes when the food initially arrived I didn’t think for a million years I would be able to concur such a mountain of food. However once the first mouthful hit my tastebuds I realised I could never have enough of this delicious cuisine. If I could eat this meal everyday for the rest of my life I would. The waitress was polite, informative and professional at all times. Only adding to the pleasant experience. It fills me with joy to see such a quaint local pub thriving in the beautiful town of Wimborne. I have visited this pub on many occasions while I’ve been out drinking in wimborne and have loved the atmosphere of an evening. However during the day and meal times this transitions to the perfect welcoming cosy environment that I look for when dinning.

After reading mostly positive reviews we decided to book the Green Man pub for our lunch. We arrived a little early but was told where are table was in the restaurant, the young waitress was quick to take our orders for drinks and then meals( lovely girl). Shame no slice of lemon or lime in the tonic waters. It was then a wait of nearly half an hour before our roasts dinners appeared, ( we did not think it was overly busy there )

We have started coming here regularly in the last 6 months. We have found everyone to be friendly and the food is excellent and well priced. In this good weather we particularly enjoy the Ploughmans - which many establishments seem to have discontinued. There is something for everyone here. Its not a large pub but there is a small restaurant section. An inside pub area and outside seating plus an undercover area. Its on National route 25 of the National cycling system so its an ideal place for cyclists to stop off. Theyve also won many awards for their amazing floral displays.

Stopped in for lunch after a visit to the nearby Kingston Lacy.The atmosphere and service was very good although we had to fight for a table many having been reserved for the Sunday Roast.The food and local beer where very good.I had the mixed roast and my wife who is hard to please the nut roast.Both were very tasty and combined with excellent service and the frenziedly locals also having lunch we had a very pleasant experience which we would recommend .

Looks good on the outside. Need to remember car number plate as have to sign in. Most tables reserved and not very accommodating if you wanted to sit in side to eat.

My wife and I popped in for lunch yesterday,after hearing good reports about the food and pub in general. The pub is immaculately clean the staff are attentive and friendly. The menu is a classic pub menu, fresh cook using local suppliers. I am a tough customer to please but our lunch was flawless! I can highly recommend this establishment. My family, best friends (and dog!) visited the Green Man to celebrate my Birthday. Two of the party have specific dietary needs (one vegan, one soy and dairy free) and so I contacted the proprietors in advance to check that they could accommodate us and our dietary requests. They could not have been more helpful and, when we arrived, they had even gone to the trouble of setting aside an area for us and decorated it for me!

Very nice little find just near the centre of Wimborne Minster. Interesting interior and good pub atmosphere - authentic, welcoming, serving locals and tourists. Good food as well. Refreshing contrast to the high street chains.

Every year our family meet up for lunch before Christmas day and this year we choose the Green Man. The venue was perfect with Great food and service.

Met up with family for reunion, all came from different directions and it was perfect location for the lunch, Food was really nice, staff and proprietor very welcoming and we had a relaxed time in this small but very Cosy dining room.

The Green Man has a wonderful display of flowers all through the summer, the inside is still a warm welcoming traditional pub.

First time 11 of us had lunch here and it was perfect. My family, including 6 grandchildren and dog, were all made very welcome. Food was really lovely, very reasonable prices, the kids meals were by far the best I've ever experienced and all the children tucked into their meals. Lovely atmosphere and we will definitely visit again.

This is our "go to" restaurant as a family. The food is really good and great value for money. We recently had a family birthday dinner there and the staff were really nice, the food came really quickly and was delicious. It is always consistently good. There is a huge car park across the road at the Allandale centre with very cheap parking.

You have to book. It was busy which is always a good sign. Really nice, friendly staff. Great speed of service. It is a limited Sunday lunch menu, with two meat options but there was a ‘small’ portion option which was good for the younger kids and our roast came with roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, Yorkshire pudding and was lovely and hot. Great choice of beers & ciders.

Friendly staff serving good food, and a nice pint of real ale. We came during the Folk Festival and loved the impromptu music in the beer garden at the front. Nice traditional phone box outside.

This is very much a pub for locals and we felt a little bit out of it until we moved into the room away from the bar. The beer was great, and food obviously freshly cooked. The poor lady serving the food was rushed off her feet. I had the faggots, not something you see often these days, which is a shame as these were great. The friends had fish and chips which they enjoyed, but my wife had the local sausage and mash, finding the sausages a bit dry. Nice friendly staff.

Spotted this pub whilst driving around Wimborne Dorset .Stopped for a meal. Homemade Spaghetti Bolognese. Very nice. Friendly welcoming venue .would go again when around that way

We've eaten at the Green Man a few times, so when we saw they were putting on a Chicken & Rib night, we booked straight away.

Lovely food and very accomodating to all our guests. Can't fault the service and the lovely food. Great value for money too.

The Green Man is a little gem of a pub just a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of the main centre of Wimborne Square. In a town where parking is at a premium it has the advantage of it's own car park.

Great little pub, with good food at reasonable prices. Well kept beer. Swordfish is my favourite as on tap. Friendly atmosphere and dog friendly. 10 of us visited after a Sunday morning walk around Pamphill and along the river. We did book beforehand!

A return visit for lunch during the week. I had fish and chips and my partner had scampi and chips as did our lunch guest. We all enjoyed our meals and couldn't resist a pudding although we were full after the main course. High standard of beer and food great service good portion sizes. Real value for money. Will go again soon.
