Lovely clean rooms but let down by small detail.. Room and breakfast were included in the £112 price per night. At breakfast I was told that a cappuccino would be extra.. To me that was a complete management greedy mistake to spoil was was otherwise a decent stay. Molly did her job with great enthusiasm but ultimately that experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The Customer is always King, and to me the asking at breakfast for more money on top of an already paid breakfast for a cappuccino was petty and greedy by the company.. Rooms and cleanliness was 1st class but ultimately that tiny issue was the difference between first class and last class..

Great place to stay. Superb breakfast and brilliant staff! We stayed for 1 night with our dog, (only £10 extra, cheaper than most places) very dog friendly. Comfy bed and great shower. Pub is also very good with a great selection of drinks. Close to some great walks. Amazing value for money. Will be back!!

Lovely friendly clean place.. rooms are clean & comfortable (you do need to take your own hairdryer!) Bed linen is decent. Most rooms are on the ground floor and some are wheelchair accessible. It is literally on a main road but the rooms are set back from it a bit so we had no problem with road noise The food is decently priced and delicious. The staff are all friendly and would definitely stay again.

I was visiting for a friends wedding on Saturday 15th September and the wedding was beautiful. There was a separate room and outdoor courtyard which is next to the main restaurant and open bar for the public and guests. I was waiting at the bar for a drink talking to my partner and the wedding party were laughing, talking and just having a good time. We were loud but not in a violent, silly, stupid way and the next thing i see is the bar man shout and scream at the top of his voice "guys, can you all please shut up and be quite. I have told you once already and I will need you to all shut up or I will have to move you all" this was a group of 30 people in the bar and as mentioned we were just all talking and laughing. Everyone's faces we're in shock with how angry he was and how he shouted at the top of his voice and if anything him shouting was louder than we were. As you can imagine 30 people at a wedding celebrating isn't going to be quite. Speaking to other people in the wedding party apparently he had already been rude and shouted at others already which the bride then had to complain to management about.

Spontaneous visit to the restaurant so didn't pre book. Greeted as we walked in and shown a table, drinks order taken & delivered quickly. Took a while to get a menu and then have the order taken. Meal arrived after approx 20 mins. Elderly mother chose child's portion as has small appetite. good portion of tender beef with roast and mashed spuds, broccoli, beans and carrots. Perfect size for her appetite (possibly too big for a young child though!). My roast pork was a tad on the stingy side - could have done with a third slice of pork (small pork loin slices). Lovely roast potatoes although again would have liked an extra one or two rather than the mash! Great selection of veg - red cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots. Nice stuffing ball (not too dry) and delicious thick gravy. Waiter cleared table and promised to come back with desert menu.... waited......waited.... after 15 minutes had to ask for menu. Delightful waitress took order and was able to offer an alternative to a desert I wanted but was not available. Desert arrived in good time - apple and blackberry crumble pie a little lacking in the filling but mum reported tasted good. Apple pie however was a disappointment - looked delicious on the plate filled with nice juicy apples and lovely thick custard. Problem was the pie had been microwaved which had turned the pastry to a think cloying clay texture that stuck to the roof of my mouth - why do chef's resort to microwaving pastry!!! I would rather have had the pie cold!! Ended up eating the apple and leaving the pastry! When asked if everything was ok I mentioned the pastry and waitress couldn't stop apologising! - net result made me feel bad for giving the feedback!! Nothing knocked off bill - just another apology when paying the bill. All in all would visit again & hope for a little improvement!

Visited this restaurant which has a hotel attached to it. On arrival bright and airy. But confusing from the start as it says pick a table order at bar. When we sat down a lovely smiling waitress brought the menu and informed us it's waitress service.Placed our order drinks arrived quickly but food took quite some time to come out especially as it wasn't that busy. This we don't mind if the food is worth waiting for. Sadly this is not the case the garlic tear and share tasted dry and stale. Our main course my husband's burger overcooked my chicken supreme not so supreme potatoes hard lots of good veg though.Would we return or recommend to friends sadly not, first impressions count we were not impressed hence would not return. Staff are friendly and helpful although overworked due to skeleton staff albeit it was during the day and may well differ in the evening. Restaurant eating area is pleasant and bright and airy and very clean. Food was nicely presented although the cheese and biscuit selection was a little bit sparse. Could have done with some celery or some apple / grapes to accompany it. I've eaten here several times and have always been served nice pleasant affordable food. Lovely chips. If you're staying there the rooms at the back of the hotel are lovely and cool and have nice views over the green. Very quiet and had an excellent night's sleep. Driving past with my buddy at about 7pm, a bite to eat and a pint was in order. Helps thta it was between errands that we were running that evening. It is onbe of those places where you find a table then go to the bar to order - no problem but no numbers on the tables so when they ask... errm that one over there in the corner.A pasta dish for me, and lasagne for Paul. Arrived quickly enough even though there was a wedding party hanging around the bar waiting for the evening reception to start. Still, they had already eaten and no doubt had more to come later.Food was tasty, but given how cheap pasta is, especially as it was the main ingredient of my order, it could perhaps have been a slightly larger portion. The lasagne was a respectable size portion.Otherwise, cheap, cheeful, reasonable food and friendly staff.Bathroom was fine, no major issues there.Would I come here again? No reason not to, but plenty of other places to eat a couple of miles down the road.

Having recently hired St Leonards Hotel for a Birthday party (80 guests) and attending a public Murder Mystery event I can enthusiastically recommend them for good value and accommodating helpfulness. Their prices are pretty reasonable as well. The Buffets and Dinners I ate were of good quality standard fare with traditional food. They, of course can cater to a special menu. They also can allocate a small private bar to your event which is very useful for 'cash behind the bar' events! Will definitely be using them again. Good value for money.

We visited this place for an 80th birthday party. We had a party of 8 and the food and service was utterly disgusting would never visit again! Firstly the service was Very poor we waited over 40 minutes to get meal. The restaurant was not even busy at all. When we went up to the bar the staff did not acknowledge us and was quite rude. The staff behind the staff was all chatting to each other and then they said on the other customer is a regular and ignored us as we weren't a regular. We had a meal and the meal came out to another table and wasn't for them was for us and they sent it back do ended up with the reheated not so nice steak food. Food wasn't that great. No peas with meal and half the meal wasn't available. Looking back at the menu with the steak we only got the triple chips and a tomato. We did not get no garnish or mushrooms. We was not told that they didn't have it in, Our Black Angus beef steaks are served with triple-cooked chips, Paris brown mushrooms, a fragrant thyme-roasted tomato and a fresh watercress garnishAlso the hunters chicken was missing food on the plate. Again we was not notified. No coleslaw and very little BBQ sauce Chicken breast, topped with streaky bacon, in a smooth BBQ sauce, topped with mature Cheddar and served with triple-cooked chips, peas, coleslaw, half a thyme-grilled tomato and onion ringsNot once did the staff acknowledge us and clean our table only when the main meal came out. Rude staff they acknowledged the regular staff. We waited so long that we didn't get a pudding as the staff didn't bother to come over to us and again never come over to offer us pudding. The staff only offered and cleared regular customer tables rich is disgusting table service. In food area dogs was in the area. Wouldn't recommend it!! Never come here again. The meal cost £119 and the the staff had a cheek to ask for a tipNo way!! After that bad service we should be getting a refund!!!

So we were given menus - to be told the menus were outdated... the waitress then 'told' us what was available. We waited over FORTY minutes for six meals (the restaurant was only a quarter full, so they were hardly rushed). When the food arrived it was awful. Dried out veg. A rock hard Yorkshire pudding and a slice of beef that could be used to re-sole my boots! My 5 year old had sausage and mash from the kids menu, it too was dried out and the sausage was like a rod of iron. No gravy or even ketchup on it... totally unpalatable.Quite honestly the worst eating out experience we have ever had!

After being on the motorway for some time we stopped at the first appealing place we saw, from the outside St Leonards looks clean fresh and well maintained. What we found inside was really the opposite.Dark and dirty and in need off a little TLC it appears they were starting to clear up the food for the Carvery but we were still offered it as an option and we both opted for this.Once we had stepped up to the serving area I wanted to leave but at this point we had already paid. Flies all over the meat and a very untidy dirty serving area which I can understand after a long service but the flies were an instant turn off!! No carrots can you even class it as a roast dinner with no carrots? All other were now dry and some even burnt from sitting under the light for some time. Again this I understand if they have been sat around but don't charge me full price for half a service. The biggest thing that got to me were the "Roast" potatoes were fried not roasted =( I would have highlighted all the issue with a member off staff but after being on the road for some time I was simply to tired to muster a conversation, had a member off staff checked back during the meal I might have said something.I don't think I'll return again.

We booked for Christmas Day Lunch to start at 12.30. There were 10 tables in our room and one party did not arrive until 1.00. We were told that the starters would not be served until all tables were occupied but this was unfair on people who had arrived on time. The vegetables for the main course were put on the table well before the individual meats and potatoes were served. The vegetables were therefore cold before we actually ate them. The serving staff worked very hard but it may be that there were insufficient numbers to serve the amount of diners. The waiter serving the coffees held the cup in his hand while filling. The final irony was when we went to pay our drinks bill we were asked to pay for a bottle of wine that we didn't have. We have been here for the last three years but will go elsewhere next year.

We visited the St Leonards Hotel on Thursday, 17 December with friends. We arrived soon after 6 pm and promptly ordered drinks, our starters and mains. The table we sat at was very sticky so we moved to another, only to find that was also sticky. The restaurant wasn't busy but it took almost 45 minutes for our starters to arrive and the barman/waiter apologised, saying that the chef was on his own. On his own!! - we had only ordered prawn cocktails, pate etc. so it shouldn't have taken long to serve. It was the only prawn cocktail I have seen that wasn't served in a glass but dropped on the plate on a lettuce leaf! The barman/waiter plonked the meals on the table and leant across my husband to serve me. Hmmmn, training needed in both presentation and attitude. When he cleared the plates he asked if we would like our mains served immediately. We agreed and 45-60 minutes and two reminders later our meals arrived. At the second reminder, I explained that one of our party was diabetic and the need for food was urgent. The barman/waiter didn't apologise but just said that we should have told them when we arrived!! No-one expects to wait that long, especially when the place was empty. When the main courses arrived, the plates were cold and the gravy congealed at the edges where the meals had been microwaved. Needless to say we declined the chance to order a dessert. There was no point in complaining at the time about the quality of the food as the barman/waiter's attitude was so appalling. Furthermore, he was incapable of splitting the bill equally into two parts and suggested we accepted a split of £35:£41. All in all a dreadful experience with poor service, poor food, dirty tables - I could go on. Needless to say, we won't be returning. We will ensure friends and acquaintances are made aware.

Drop in here on the of chance, so had not booked a table, but we were in luck as it was mid afternoon. Not sure what to have we saw a fish and chip meal come out, it looked great so we ordered the small meal (£5.49) - the batter was lovely and crispy and the whole meal hot and freshly cooked. Well having also seen desserts come out we opted for the warm fudge cake and ice-cream, this just finished off our meal beautifully.Staff were very pleasant and the place warm and cosy. There is however, a few housekeeping hiccups, we sat near the windows to the courtyard and the ceiling above was covered in cobwebs - which you could see had been there for a long time - an extra long feather duster is required urgently, also although the tables were cleaned between customers they were still very sticky, a good shrub would be in order.

Nipped in here on our way to Swanage. And not for the first time as we always find this restaurent to be of a good standard. So, on the 1st October, feeling ravenous in we went. Had an excellent meal, my fish goujons could have been a main almost and I thoroughly enjoyed the pasta plus an ice-cream. Hubby was more than happy with his meal also. The house wine is more than acceptable and served in a lovely tall stemmed glass, a shape I really like. However, the main reason for this review is that the Staff on the night were wonderful to an elderly chap sitting nearby us. Clearly on a night out by himself, he was quite frail but the staff couldn't do enough for him. Making sure he had everything he needed, checking he was OK and then ordering his taxi and helping him up to leave. So lovely to see and we made a point of telling them too.Just hope the management appreciate the staff they have. Hats off to Louise, Chen, Ollie, Lisa & Sean (I have good hearing and made a note of their names) So, feeling refreshed, full up and happy, we continued onto Swanage. We will definitely go again.

Ok, I will say from the outset that I did have a hearty lunch and am still full several hours later. I will also say that I set out to have lunch with my husband and ended up eating a good hour after him and will never be going there again. You want the full story? Right, so we got there at twenty to twelve, fancying a good lunch after camping for the weekend. We were politely told that the carvery would open in twenty minutes, yes there was a veggie nut roast option and did we want a drink while we waited. All good so far and we sat and drank coffee and read the papers at a nice, albeit slightly sticky table and anticipated our lunch. Bang on twelve, 23 members of what I guess was a local football team turned up and stood patiently waiting for their dinner. I thought it made sense to let them get their food first and was happy to wait a bit. However,my husband's fish and chips arrived and he started eating, although he would have preferred to eat with me. We are married after all.I waited a while then went to join the queue, which by now had started to fill up with families. Behind us in the queue you could hear scraping of plates, slurping and discussions about what pudding to have. I still waited. My husband looked sadly across at me from his distant table, plainly taking as long as possible to eat his lunch and still I waited.Forty minutes later I reached the head of the queue and quietly asked for my nut roast. The poor carvery lad scuttled off to the kitchen and then came back and told me my nut roast was actually a cheese and onion tart, was that alright and it would be five minutes. I bleated that I had been waiting for ages and he said he would wave when it arrived from the kitchen.I slowly went back to the table and sat down opposite my husband and his empty plate. I waited ten minutes, trying to read the paper, but feeling pretty stupid by then.A waitress came up to clear my husband's plate and must have seen that I wasn't feeling in the best of moods. She was so nice, really genuine and went off to grab me a plate of vegetables from the carvery and two extra yorkshire puddings.I noticed I was still missing my main and when it finally arrive, it came accompanied by the manager, who I had requested.Mmmmmm.If you can imagine the least apologetic face on the planet, you would still be miles off. He frankly looked terrified, bland, uninterested all at the same time. He went straight for the 'I've been on a management training course question on how to deal with awkward customers' and asked 'What can I do'? Talk about going straight to the heart of the matter. he skipped past the page where you heartily apologise and then sympathise and just went straight to the problem solving page. Well, I put him straight on a couple of very basic things such as how appalling the service was, how we will never return and even suggested a couple of improvements such as staff noticing that there were problems and trying to fix it. I said that we would require an adjustment to our bill and he sort of drifted off, still looking bored, callow and cavalier. Our lovely waitress was full of apologies, but we told her we weren't mad at her, just the overall crapness of the organisation. So, footnote: The men's loos were dirty, I cleared my plate and we were given a paltry 25% off our meal. The couple next to us had a near identical experience and refused to pay their bill! Yes, you read it right! We were in awe of their chutzpah, but I did eat all my dinner, to be fair.I chose not to worry whether my gravy was veggie and what the roast potatoes were cooked in and perhaps I should have done, but I imagine you won't be eating there anytime soon. So, not to be recommended in the slightest.

Really nice place to eat and drink, lots going for it and good food, however their staff are not managed and customer skills devoid. Once you have your meal presented you are forgotten, no prompting to fill glasses, is it OK, would you like a dessert etc. Basic staff seemed average but led by women full of their own self importance. Very annoying practice of gratuities being a layer of the credit card process semi intimidating you to Tip, we didnt.

Well we got invited to lunch here by our friends. I must say I haven't been back here for nearly fifteen years since my wife and I had our wedding reception here. It hasn't changed at all in that time apart from having a lick of paint here and there. We were greeted by the manager when we went to the bar and ordered our food I must say he didn't look like the manager with his shoulder length hair and three quarter length trousers but he was polite enough. It seemed like ages until he brought our lunch. My wife had some sort of vegetable soup I had a pulled pork sandwich, our friend had a chicken and bacon sandwich and my daughter had a lasagne and garlic bread. She said she enjoyed her lasagne and garlic bread and it did look lovely. My pulled pork sandwich was ok but very dry. The chicken and bacon sandwich was so fatty and the bacon didn't look very inviting. Well the soup was terrible, there was no taste to it whatsoever and I tried giving a taste to the dog and she wouldn't eat it either so I complained to the manager and it was taken off our bill. To summarise it was an ok meal I've had worse but I've also had a lot better. I don't think it's worth the money paid personally speaking.Won't be going back in a hurry.

went there last Friday night 21/8/2015 and there was a wedding reception going on in rear of hotel.Ordered drinks at the bar which took ages for bar staff to give us. staff member was We asked for a table to be cleared for us, and after 20 minutes asked again. The female staff member said she would do it, and then shouted across to us at the bar where we were waiting that it was done now.we sat done at the table and there were crumbs and food still on the table and it was sticky to touch. She hadn't cleaned it at all well.I told a woman who was wearing a badge and she apologised and said that she would get someone to clean it. This never happened so we changed tables. We sat down at the cleanest table we could find. All the table surrounding us were set up with napkins and cutlery but had food still all over the tables. The meals arrives Hunters chicken which was a dish of boiling hot baked on food with a few chips and peas on the plate I had ordered mixed veg as I don't eat peas, but got peas instead of the mixed veg. It was a very poor show of a meal , especially when they advertise on a LARGE sign outside GOOD FOOD. This is a joke. The cobwebs above our heads where we were sitting was alarming and the carpet had food all over it. the place is a pig sty and we will not be eating here ever again.

We spent a weekend in the area visiting the New Forest and used this hotel as our base. For what we expected it was ok. We didn't have dinner at the hotel's restaurant, so I cannot comment. However, we did have breakfast and I would easily say that I wish we had given it a miss. Hotel was quiet and clean, plenty of parking spaces so no issues there. Staff were courteous and attentive. We would stay here again for the same type of break visiting the New Forest, as we are not very keen on caravan parks. Thank you.

Went there to catch up with a friend over a meal . Been past it so many times but never eaten . Looks a bit dated and tired but the restaurant is very spacious and has a really nice ambience .Has music playing in the background without being obtrusive.Apart from a couple of minor hiccups service was good .I had a chicken caesar salad and asked for a hard boiled egg as extra,no problem. The salad was surprisingly well presented. Not given masses of mixed leaves and tiny bits of meat but larger leaves arrayed on the plate and big strips of chicken and generous helping of home made croutons, very nice. The rest of the meal was equally nice.Would definitely eat there again and recommend to friends. Nice evening out

Visited the hotel for Sunday lunch yesterday as a party of 6 people. The restaurant was extremely quiet, one of the excuses used by the manageress for the poor quality of fresh food available on the carvery. It would appear that without a busy restaurant it is impossible to serve fresh quality. When we complained about the carvery we were told that we should have complained earlier, before we finished eating. The fact that food was left on most plates could possibly have been a clue. The carrots were unpeeled and not crisp but rock hard. The roast potatoes weren't really roasted, but rather greasy. All in all a very disappointing meal. We wont be going again we suggest that if you have £50 to spare you go else where!!

We have visited this pub 4/5 times in the last 5 months, it was ok for a quick burger, nothing special. They have recently redecorated and introduced a new menu. Not sure if they have changed the chef too, but this visit on Friday night was much improved. Meal was nicely presented with premium ingredients. The staff obviously believe in the new changes as they were friendly and enthusiastic. If you've visited before and not been impressed, I would definitely try it again to see the changes!

On arrival we were greeted with at least 10 tables of differing sizes full of dirty plates and glasses that looked like they had been there forever. One end of the bar was full of dirty glasses. As it was not busy we decided to stay and have the carvery which although served quickly with over sized cut meat!!!! we then watched in total horror of the incompetence of the waiter and bar staff who decided on the odd occasion to collect 2 plates at anyone time and the barman who could only pick up 3 glasses in one hand to walk to the cleaning area. After finishing our meal some 25 minutes later the end of the bar was still cluttered with glasses and 4-5 tables still not cleared. Considering there were no more than 20 people in the bar and restaurant area I class this as totally unacceptable and would hasten to add if any of your other establishments are run to this standard I would seriously consider selling any shares or stock!! On paying in full for our meals I made comment to the barman of our horror and he replied he only had one pair of hands!!!!!!!

I've eaten in this restaurant a few times over the years & can honestly say it's gone downhill. My partner & I visited today, sat at a table near the kitchen/bar.no friendly approach or introduction from our waiter. All the staff bar one lady (who I assume was the manager) were walking around with faces like a slapped backside! Checking phones, yawning, leaning against walls. Not clearing any plates. We ordered from the 2 meals for £9.99 menu including starters & desserts. Our starter was shocking, tiniest portion of breaded mushrooms!Main meal was O.K but nothing special, I had the chicken breast and my partner had gammon for an extra £1 but was disappointed. Wasn't asked if wanted any sauces, or checked on to see if everything was okay.we cancelled our desserts and asked for the bill twice. It's a shame as I always remember the food being lovely.hopefully reviews like this will be taken seriously as with the right staff it could be a nice place to visit.

Popped in for an evening meal with my family and young grandchildren, had to walk around the bar area looking for a table for six people, no staff come to help. We didn't want a table to near the bar as it was very loud and a couple of men were using bad language. We found a quiet corner table which wasn't that comfortable and were in two-minds whether to go or stay, but the children were hungry so we thought we'd give it a try. The restaurant was quite drab and dark and the tables were not planned out very well. The staff were friendly and helpful particularly with the children's food and arranged smaller dishes of the adults menu. The food was served quickly starters were of sufficient size and quality. The main course was served on very hot plates and again was of average quality, but nothing special, and the deserts were OK. The most difficult thing was getting the bill after asking two members of staff and waiting ages my family went and sat in the car, I went to the bar, but still had to wait while the one bar staff took bar food orders, took payments and then had to look for our waitress to get our bill. Seemed very disorganised.

One of the most frustrating things when entering an eating place for the first time is not knowing exactly how the system works. This is easily overcome by the availability of friendly staff to help. However, on a recent impromptu visit at 12.45 pm (lunchtime), whilst there were plenty of staff around they seemed more interested in talking to each other or on their phones than helping potential customers. On our arrival, the bar itself was deserted with nobody serving drinks but our server eventually appeared and invited us to sit anywhere. The first table we tried was rejected as it was very sticky, the second was wobbly and the third a little less sticky and wobbly but far from perfect. Is it really so difficult to wipe tables clean after use?We came close to leaving and going elsewhere but not knowing the area and being short of time decided to stick it out.We had starters of garlic mushrooms, which were small but tasty and selected main courses from the 2 for £9.99 menu. I opted for ham, egg and chips. The ham was excellent, the chips mediocre but the eggs overcooked making the meal seem dry overall. My wife had a pulled pork roll, which looked appetising but which she declared disappointing. At such prices we would not expect miracles but it could so easily have been better with a little attention to detail. We also ordered coffee and hot chocolate, both of which were fine. These came with a piece of fudge, which my wife really enjoyedThere certainly seemed to be plenty of staff around during most of our visit but our server (male with pony tail and shorts) seemed to be the only one doing any work. He certainly did his best to look after us and was extremely pleasant but seemed to totally lack any support from his colleagues. However, by far the worst aspect of this establishment were the toilets. The male toilets had four broken urinals, a wet floor and at least one toilet seat hanging off in the cubicle of which the door did not fasten securely. My wife declared that in the ladies only one of five cubicles was usable due to a combination of lack of toilet paper, faulty locks and very dirty sanitary ware suggesting a lack of regular checking. We overheard the fact that the General Manager was not on duty and it seemed to us that it was a case of 'While the mice are away, the staff will play'We will certainly not be rushing back!

We have often stopped here for food when travelling to and from our holiday flat and the food has been excellent - especially favourite has been the lamb shank. However we have recently had 2 disappointing experiences. Firstly a steak meal was very gristly and largely inedible and we mentioned this when paying and the cost was deducted.Unfortunately last Sunday evening we waited over 45 minutes without warning for 2 gammon steak meals. When they arrived the peas were cold and the rest of the meal only just warm - I assumed someone would come to ask if our meals were ok and would have said they were not but we weren't asked. We had to sit at a table which had not been cleared and had drink spilled on it but asked when we ordered our meal if this could be cleared but it never was so we ate with other peoples dirty leftovers around us and mopped the table ourselves with a serviette. Needless to say we shall be visiting the Little Chef opposite in future - such a shame as the service and presentation has always been so good previously. :(

The food was good except the roast potatoes which were soggy, food served on cold plates, but otherwise tasty and good value. Less to our liking was the poor house keeping, table not being all that well wiped down, the high chair was filthy, we had to wet wipe it down before putting our little boy in it. Also in disable toilet/baby changing room no soap. In the bar area glasses not cleared away despite members of staff standing around, and the doors to the kitchen needed a good wipe down. Shame because it could be very good, but managers need to up their game.

Do not take your children here. Was recommended by friends who said the restaurant was much improved. My normally angelic toddler decided that he wasn't going to sit quietly on this occasion. This isn't the ideal situation but my husband and I were trying to make the most out of it but exhausted our own toddler entertainment. As previous non parents we know it's not a great environment for a meal. It was too late to leave as we had ordered food. The food was not hot, and I had more onion than burger. It was very sub standard. No care taken at all. I understand so you cannot control your customers but the stares and turning around to look at us made us extremely upset. As my husband took his last bite we were walking out the door. Drinks no where near finished and to a bill of over £26, a very expensive 40 minutes (2 burgers, one mostly onion 17.90 children's meal £3.99 and two lemonades) It may not sound much but in the local area you can get more for your money in a much much nicer, friendlier atmosphere. The stares as we left were humiliating and had reduced me to tears by the time I reached the car. Awful. Never again.

We have been here a couple of times now and I must say in general everything has been good. The food has always been good value for money (mains) but I think the starters are overprice for the size. But all in all good and well worth a second visit. My hubby is fussy and like's their menu and we try and have the same waitress as she is always happy to help and does a great job. We went last night and everything was good, the food was out in good time and we all thought it was lovely. After a lovely evening we went to pay our bill which we did at the bar, the waitress was trying to sort out our bill when what I thought was the manager was stood behind her repeating the word CAKE, over and over again ! Well if that leadership and Management then someone got it very wrong. As a customer I really do not want to hear this and the poor waitress looked mortified, lets hope this was a one off and you were having a not so funny turn.

Her words were "I know a good place for lunch and it's two meals for a tenner". Well I will give anything a go especially as my daughter was paying. Well pleasantly surprised at the range of the 2 4 10 menu. I settled for the haddock florentine as did my daughter and were suitably rewarded. The food was well presented, flavoursome and plentiful. I also had a desert ,two pots of tea and glasses of water all for 16 pounds. Did I mention to say that the service was excellent, many thanks to Morgan whom made our business lunch a pleasure. The proprietors should be proud. Will definitely visit again. Oh yes you can guess who ended up paying the bill, daughters hey.

Following the tragic and sudden death of my Father in September my family decided to take my Mother out for Christmas Lunch as it was something different and obviously we/she would not have to worry about the washing up. Mum said she would like to go to the St Leonard's as it was only a short distance from us, the 5 course meal cost £55 pp which is not as much as some hotels but still quite a large amount for one meal.So on Christmas Day off we went for our 1 o'clock arriving early so that we could have the customary pre meal drink. Sitting down just before the scheduled time and really looking forward to our meal the four of us were slightly taken aback when the 1st course didn't arrive until 1.30 . We all had different starters and all appeared well. However the best was yet to arrive or not as it happened. Our main course then didn't appear in front of us until 2.50 pm, now I know that a rest is suggested between meals but this was ridiculous and when it did arrive it was cold and we were all missing some portion of food or other of our plates, from sprouts on my plate to stuffing and pigs in blankets on my Mums. My son who had to leave by 4 pm went to complain to the Manager who came to our table to apologise. He said he was very sorry and would see us after. The next three course where then delivered in super fast time (so we had now gone from one extreme to the other) and again it was disappointing. The Christmas pudding again was cold, the cheese board was uninteresting and served with the coffee which left a poor but very hot mince pie being served on its own literally no cream etc..I am sorry but the whole experience was very below what I had expected for my money, the staff looked scruffy and rushed off their feet there was no happy atmosphere no pipped music no happy smiling faces just plenty of people around moaning about the standard of food and service. This was meant to be a special outing for my Mum to help ease her sadness but this failed to deliver in every way.The Manager did return after and has offered us another meal for all of us free of charge which we have accepted with expectations of better things.

The Carvery was served by smiling pleasant member of staff, the food was on the whole was hot, for some reason one member of staff was incessant that serving spoons were not left in the dishes but put on serparate plates on another table, which made no sense at all as when you are trying to to put various veg on your plate you don't want to be turning to another table to place spoons back on various plates. We and number of other customers left the spoons in the dishes which seemed to really annoy what I can only assume was the lady manager who even moved one spoon I left in the dish whilst I was trying to serve myself, in fact she had a Basil Fawlty persona about her as if the place would be great if the customers weren't getting in way, it became a running joke on our table watching her hover about carvery moaning and tuting about the spoons in the wrong place. The rest of the staff were helpful and pleasent. The table we were on seemed to be sticky and the varnish was wearing wearing away, also the mens loo is in need of redecoration.

Ate here as was staying at the local premier inn. Staff seemed friendly enough. Very basic menu (pretty much all fried). Food appeared to be plonked on the plate/bowl and served with no attention to presentation; no garnish of any kind. Child’s pasta dish was tiny; probably ok for a 3 or 4 year old; served in very small enamel dish. Overall, food was ok and it was convenient for our stay.
