The best restaurants serving British food in Porthleven and Helston South Cornwall, Isles of Scilly South West

Ahh what a lovely place to go for a last day breakfast. Hot tasty locally sourced food and very reasonably priced👍 Hubby & eldest had a full English, the other son had huge bacon bap whilst l plumped for mushrooms/beans on brown toast all 👍👍👍. Lots of choice and takeaway offered can't wait to return for our May visit.

A superb, friendly and relaxed cafe situated in the lovely harbour area of Porthleven. In the summer lots of outdoor seating us available. Inside it's cosy with a good range of hot food available. Good service, friendly staff and dog friendly.

Brilliant venue for breakfast. Staff very helpful with gluten free vegan options. Excellent location with a lovely view too!!

Wow ! A lovely meal and plenty of it . Absolutely delicious. And the staff were lovely .. having a laugh and doing their job ! Impressed with porthleven .. friendly staff ! Rare these days

A wonderful place! We found this place on the last day of our holiday, which was such a shame as we would have loved to go back! The pizza (which was the special that day) was amazing (we had the BBQ pulled pork). They were happy to make a slightly smaller one for my son to have by himself, which was lovely too. The fresh produce looked really good, there was so much to choose from. All the tables were occupied at the time, so we got our food to go, but nevertheless, the service was fantastic and the staff were ever so friendly. Would absolutely recommend!

End of lockdown, so everywhere was rammed or had huge queues. We waited about 20 mins for this and it was really unusual and absolutely delicious! We had a large Fishermans Basket and dirty fries to share, plenty of food for two.

Kota used to just do tasting menus and the expansion to providing individual plates as well should have been a success, but it wasn’t. Previously my wife and I would have had the tasting menu, with her picking the fish options and me either the fish or meat. Now there are no alternatives, so we couldn’t order this and had to order the separate plates. These are styles like tapas, but we were told they could be ordered like starters and mains. Our ‘starters’ came up together and were good, then my wife’s ‘main’ came up, but mine didn’t and neither did her accompanying dish. These turned up about 10 mins after she had finished. Everything was good, but eating separately, rather spoils the meal. A ‘token’ free coffee doesn’t make up for a spoilt birthday meal. Had they have said that the plates were like those on the tasting menu, but served tapas style, one at a time, we would have known what to expect, and ordered dishes we both could eat, but being led to believe it was a la carte, led to a massive disappointment. It’s a shame, when good food gets a poor score because of other issues. Hopefully, as this is a change on their part, things will improve.

Well what a find! I always read reviews before I eat anywhere and the reviews for the Ship Inn were excellent and so I was looking forward to trying it. The menu was imaginative and well thought out, not just your standard pub grub. There was plenty of fresh fish on offer which is what you want in a place like Porthleven. My husband chose Red Mullet , his favorite fish. Beautifully cooked and presented on a fresh celeriac salad, stunning dish. I had the roasted corgette, another beautiful dish, so tasty! We will definitely make a special journey down to Porthleven just to eat there again. A little word about the staff . . . Fantastic!!!

Having undergone refurbishment and under new management this Inn has become a great destination for good food and service. Having eaten here several times this was the first time we’d tried the Sunday lunch. It was excellent and the staff were lovely too, very friendly but not overly intrusive. Also dog friendly which also helps. Would highly recommend it. Plus as the weather improves, the excellent harbour side outdoor seating area is a real bonus.

The best coffee and a great cafe' - will be back to try to the food as looked delicious. Don't be put off by the industrial looking setting - it's a cafe' with their HQ all in one.
