End of lockdown, so everywhere was rammed or had huge queues. We waited about 20 mins for this and it was really unusual and absolutely delicious! We had a large Fishermans Basket and dirty fries to share, plenty of food for two.

There are better fish and chip options available in Porthleven. Staff are rude and obnoxious. Best avoid

3 fish & chips. Doesn’t really do it justice - 3 utterly incredible fish (Coley?) with it’s own wee tub of tartare sauce and a slice of lemon. Over our holiday we had 3 other fish and chips, all good, but this was a different level of “good”. Tartare excellent. Chips hand cut, not too big/thick, with skins, and flakes of sea salt. I wish we’d skipped lunch, built up a bigger appetite, and had an excuse to try one or two of the curious sounding sides/starters. My eyes (as a Scot) smarted at the price when we ordered, but I get it now.

Best fish and chips we’ve had in a very long time. Dishes change daily depending on what’s been caught, so everything is fresh and tasty. Sensational golden crunchy batter and fresh fish. Friendly staff, delicious food, and chips to die for (not your usual soggy chippy chips here - these were crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle - the way they should be). Only disappointment was they weren’t open on a couple of the nights we were nearby! Worth making a special trip for.

Inventive, affordable, delicious. I don't fully understand how the combination of curry sauce, crab, cheese and chips works...but it does. Highly recommended.

We were recommended to visit Landed by a friend in Newquay and it did not disappoint! The monkfish bao was amazing! and much bigger than I thought it would be. The lobster crab rolls were full on flavour and the squid ink scallops were cooked to perfection. Innovative Asian twist on the British classics, absolutley loved it. Really hope to see the guys in Brighton soon, thank you !

Absolutely divine! Without a doubt the best take-away "fish & chips" we have eaten (as far as I can remember) ! We shared a regular fisherman basket and a regular fish and chips on top and couldn't believe how much we got for the price! The fisherman basket contained 3 battered fishes (coley, monkfish, sole), maquerel scotch egg, fish cakes in squid ink, scallops in squid ink... all that with various mayo (the crab mayo and curry mayo were our favourites!). Honestly I will never forget that dinner (eaten in a car facing the rough sea). In the UK, 95% of the time you get a battered fish which looks huge but in reality the sides (50% of it!) are just soggy batter with nothing inside, who knows what I'm talking about? Here you can be sure that what you see is what you get! Crispy batter without gaps inside and super tasty melting fish. To top it up: divine scotch egg and fish cakes, scallop I had to close my eye to focus on it... you get the idea. Oh and the fries are good too! The mayos, tartare? Nailed it. And knowing that everyday the menu changes, how on earth is it possible? Everything is freshly sourced from local fishermen (which names are written down on a board, very nice touch). They seem to be doing super innovative dishes! Check out their instagram and ignore the bad reviews. Guys don't change anything and move to Bristol!! Thanks

Not quite your regular fish & chippy, but oh my, how utterly wonderful. Husband had the monkfish in buttermilk batter - simply divine, and the better choice out of the two of us. I had the basket - a mix of 3 or 4 different fish, one of which was in 'black' batter from squid ink, which actually tasted great. A real find, and would certainly recommend.

We decided to have dinner from here on our last night of our holiday and had viewed the menus throughout the week and were really looking forward to it. Monkfish and dirty fries twice and battered cauliflower and plain fries came to £45 which I did think was expensive bit I went with it. Got back to the holiday home and theyd missed the normal chips from our order so I had to run back and get them, having to wait for them to be cooked with no apology. £12 for 3 large mouthfuls of tasteless monkfish i thought was pretty steep. The fries were chewy like they were yesterdays and both the cheese and crab sauces were so sickly most of them were left. My daughter said the cauliflower was so greasy that she didnt eat hers either. Such a shame, a waste of money, definitely wouldnt recommend and wont be going there again

Went to Porthleven and the restaurant we wanted was full, so we tried Landed. Fantastic food. I had the fisherman's basket which various fish- even the batter type differed between them all. There was also a squid ink breadcrumbed scallop, crab ball, and a fishy Scotch egg. Wonderful. We even had a discussion as to whether to go tomorrow as well. Husband had delicious battered coley and cheddar dirty fries. Everything beautifully cooked and crisp. I can't fault it. Compromised on returning next week ( rather than tomorrow)

Ate as a family, so had a mix of fish and veggie options. Family had monkfish, which they loved. It was genuinely lovely to be able to share the experience, because Landed provide a couple of really imaginative veggie/vegan options. Long wait because it was busy; but well-organised buzzer-system to let you know when your food is ready. Would definitely return.

Visited the shell and fish takeaway during the bank holiday weekend ordered two regular Haddock and chips, Had to wait outside which is understandable, But when the food eventually arrived sat on the Harbor wall and was disgusted by the food we had just paid £24 pounds for. The Haddock was over cooked very greasy Just like it had been warmed up from the day before and the chips where very poor too and the quantity for the money was disgraceful. Needless to say my wife and i will not be visiting That Takeaway again. Very Poor

Popped in here for a cream tea, deliciously warm scones with jam and clotted cream, a real treat. Very reasonably priced. The staff were lovely, very friendly, would definitely recommend.

The Tolcarne Inn is a pub in Newlyn, Cornwall, just outside of Penzance. I happened to be on my way to watch a film about an Irish architect, when I stopped in the Tolcarne Inn for lunch. Suspicious of gastro pubs, ranging from uppity to down-facing. Ladies were pleasant, very quiet clientele, like a village pub. I sat by the window with my book about the cognitive decline of Joe Biden, but when the food came, I forgot about Uncle Joe entirely. I ordered turbot with hollandaise sauce and asparagus, a side of boiled “Cornish dailies” and a white Americano. A warning about “small plates”. Quite, quite. You could have lost the fish in the wash, the two asparagus were stolen from a fisher-maid’s garden, the hollaindaise failed to mask the paltry dimensions. The bowl of potatoes, lathered in butter and dill, was substantial, boasting my fish like a thin man wearing large clothes. (£25 for the lot. Suspicious? I thought so too.) After the first mouthful, I was shocked. I chewed slowly, methodically, the flavours informing my tongue. The turbot was cooked with rock salt; the flesh keeps shape, easy to pull apart. The hollandaise has none of that wiry flavour; it’s smooth, not unlike a Bailey’s. Asparagus are tender, simple. Boiled “Cornish dailies” - new potatoes - are tender too. Dill and butter not overpowering. When you are filled with shock during a meal, this usually comes from the waitress dropping your plate, or some punter attacking the bar, but rarely the food. My modest meal shocked me. I forgot about Joe Biden, remembering my youth. Perfect fresh fish - prepared differently in Bermuda, but the same sensation. The outside world vanishes. Flawless food. Tourists ambling in and out of the pub, acting like the Inn was just another watering hole. No, no, no. My little turbot and asparagus and potatoes forced me back into the shell of my youth, I thought about people thinking about youth; what form it took, and so on. Walker is in shock, on the verge of tears. Now, at this point, you reach out and touch your partner’s hand, but I was alone. So the waitress came over and asked, “Is your food alright?” Because I’m thinking about time and space, prompted by the excellent food, I look up slowly, like a post-operative patient jigged back to life. “It’s flawless,” I said. “Suspiciously flawless,” I added. She smiles, walks away. Meanwhile another customer - frothy, biscuit-shirted - has the audacity to say their beer is “a bit frothy” when archangels and medcine men craft in the kitchen like so many Cornish saints. A chef peers out of the kitchen, catching my eye. A smug smile on his face. “Yes, you are God,” I want to say; I want to sing this from Newlyn to Planet Neptune.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here. I had roast lamb and my wife had roast beef, very very tasty. For dessert I opted for the superb bread and butter pudding with clotted cream whilst my wife savoured the " St. Buryan Mess" which was delicious. The staff were lovely and our three dogs were welcome. All in all super pub food in a great location.
