We popped in on the off chance there might be something vegan on the menu, there wasn't but the owner couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. He created a vegan box for us with chips, vegan battered sausages, pea fritters and cauliflower bites. It was absolutely delicious. Thank you very much for the delicious food and friendly service.

The fish was clearly off and absolutely stank the car out when we started eating them. The chips tasted stale and as though they’d be hanging around in the warmer for ages. Also put off by a member of staff wiping his nose on his arm! Lessons in food hygiene are definitely required in this establishment. Made the effort to drink to this place but the food ended up in the bin. A total waste of time and money. Please consider before wasting your money here.

Had veggie sausage and chips after confirming that the veggie sausages were also vegan and that chips are cooked in rapeseed oil. Chips were great, cooked just right without being too greasy. The battered veggie sausages were also great. Portion size was big, with two battered veggie sausages included. Would definitely recommend!

We came based on other positive reviews and were not disappointed :) It was very quiet on a rainy Tuesday in Porthleven but we were given a friendly welcome. The food was excellent and cooked to order so it was fresh and hot. We had the fish cakes (homemade) and a small cod and chips. There was plenty of food and it was reasonably priced. Very happy customers - thank you :)

A must visit if you like beautifully cooked fish & chips. The place is immaculate & very clean, service is quick and staff are very pleasant. They also own the restaurant outside Helston called Wheal Dream, which is excellent for all types of meals, but especially the Sunday roast carvery. See their reviews.

Fish and chips doesn't get much better than this. I've been before in Feb 2024 and now again in August. Still awesome. Chips cooked to perfection, proper chips and not cheap frozen ones. Fish tasted fresh and the batter was lovely and crisp and NOT thick and stodgey.

Looked the best fish and chip shop in Porthleven from the outside and didn’t disappoint. We had Haddock, chips, mushy peas and gherkins. Exceptional quality. All freshly cooked. Particularly enjoyed the lightly battered fish. Absolutely delicious. Substantial portions. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

We've turned this place into our once-a-week treat. The seafood basket is an absolute beauty, with a great range of bits and dips and is delicious and such good value. The staff are always very friendly and it's just a top place to go!

I'm not a lover of fish but this is the best fish and chips I've ever had. The fish was so fresh, batter was light and crisp not greasy and the chips were gorgeous. Such a shame I don't live here.

One of the best fish and chip experiences I’ve had for a long while. Small cod and chips for three of us and peas and gravy. The consensus across the table was unanimous - superb! The only thing I could be critical about is the price….£34.50 doesn’t make this a cheap option, but I do realise the rising cost of energy. The girl serving at the counter was very pleasant…..

Never again, spent £10 on 2 large chips that weren't large.. and tasted like they had sat there all day, they were horrible and hard my son tried to put a fork in one and it hit his face. What an absolute waste of money

Absolutely fantastic. Fresh, hot, perfectly cooked. The only place to go to for fish and chips and you have plenty of fish and chip shops around. Don't settle for second best. Go to Catch first and you will not be disappointed.

Warmly welcomed by friendly staff. My husband had a regular cod, chips & mushy peas. I had a large gluten free cod, chips and curry sauce. The care the staff took over the gluten free order was extremely impressive. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Everything was very well cooked, plentiful and tasty- highly recommended. We'll definitely return.

During our holiday in Porthleven we had fish & chips on two separate occasions from here. Both times, we found the staff to be very friendly & polite. We ordered 3 small fish but compared to what we get at home they were quite large. The fish came wrapped separately to the chips and was served with lemon wedges which was a nice touch. The fish was cooked beautifully, large white chunky filets of cod, and the batter was not in the slightest bit soggy. Chips were were also cooked well. Curry sauce was very thick & fruity in taste. You have the option to eat your chips on the terrace of Ann’s Pasties so that you can enjoy a beverage of your choice with your meal. Great to see businesses supporting each other. We highly recommend this chip shop.

This is about the only chip shop open on a Monday. The fish was delicious and the chips were even tastier! Gravy had a little quirk to it which wasn’t to our child’s taste but might be other peoples. We left our drinks there by accident and it was about 10 minutes later after we realised, we went back and they got fresh cold one out the fridge with no problems. Friendly staff. Also, sorted a small chip cob as our little one couldn’t eat a regular size because they are pretty big. Great place and would go again.

Some of the best fish and chips we’ve ever had. Crispy tempura style batter on the fish and sausage. The curry sauce is probably the best we’ve had from a chippy, make this your first stop for fish and chips if you’re in the town.

Great fish and chips ! Crunchy, light batter and lovely chips ! The closest to ‘northern’ fish and chips we’ve ever had in Cornwall 👍🏻

We visited on a recommendation and wasn't disappointed. The young ladies on the counter were lovely & prepared our order of medium cod & haddock with chips & sides in good time from fresh with everything wrapped & bagged like a present. Both the fish & chips represented fair medium-sized portions. Our fish was beautifully cooked with crispy golden batter, the white fish inside perfectly falling apart & flavoursome. The chips were nice & not insipid, although being fussy, they could have benefitted with a little more crisp & colour. Our sides of mushy peas & curry sauce were fine if not too expensive for small pots. Leading on from that price point, the meal was more than we're generally used to paying, but on par with higher priced chippies, taking into account the recent price rises across this industry. Just a minor detail, but it would also have been nice to find serviettes provided in the bag for cleaning fingers etc. In our opinion, this is easily the best chippy in Porthleven, and we'd highly recommend coming here. 'Catch' is certainly worth a solid 4☆ but shy of 5☆ in our opinion for the reasons stated above. We'll certainly be returning though, as they serve lovely fish'n'chips from a clean & hygienic premises.

Absolutely fantastic food from chef Dan! I'm vegan so we called ahead to make sure I'd have something to eat since there's nothing vegan on the menu and we were told the chef would come up with options, but I wasn't prepared for how much care would go into those options. He came to the table to talk to me about how he could convert things on the menu and came up with several options for me to cater to my specific likes (well really to avoid my dislike of mushrooms). The food was absolutely incredible, and my meat and fish eating companions thoroughly enjoyed theirs too. Best birthday dinner I've ever had I think! The other staff were also very friendly and helpful, without being overbearing. We appreciated all their help 💗

I do volunteer work in a local shop and one of my friend / colleague came in to relieve me from my shift and he had chicken tikka roll which he was thoroughly enjoying. I asked him where he had got it from and whether Coronation Chicken was on the menu and the answer was Butter Bun and yes they do. I came and ordered one to takeaway . So yummy. Nice range of salad to go in it. I will be back as enjoyed it so much and good value for money . I forgot to take a photo

We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious haddock, medium chips, and gluten-free cod and chips. The skinless fish was beautifully cooked in a bubbly batter, and the generous portions of chips were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The staff were lovely, and the premises were clean. Our only disappointment, whilst we requested large fish, it transpired that only small or standard sizes are available. The fish, however, was rather small considering that it cost £9 alone (£12.50 with chips) so not great value & disappointing after a couple of days of looking forward to it. Aside from that, we recommend this establishment.
