Usually a long Que outside waiting to be served in the summer season, popular with tourist as located next to a central in town car park and the other side is a pub and nightclub. Eaten here many times but always takeaway not seated inside at the back. Always found the chips to be standard chippy chips no complaints. In the quieter winter months if open they are willing to cook your food as preferred i.e no batter or suggest other options which is great.

The “Best fish and chips” Great service by the owner!! Cracking chap!! If you’re fussy with your mushy peas you will not be disappointed!! Pukka 👌🏼 Their homemade curry sauce is also amazing. Definitely the place for fish and chips In Newquay ☺️☺️

Considering the conditions in the UK, this is a great place - tasty, fresh, without excess oil and low prices - I recommend it, - the service is fantastic

Fish & chips were average. Serving’s were very small and very expensive. Young lad was very polite and friendly. Older man which I think was the Owner was extremely rude!!

Absolute shambles from serving to the food, burger was fried within an inch of its life, ended up using it on the beach as a frisbee with the family, chips undercooked, the curry sauce and gravy so thick I managed to build my house extension with, send the cement back to Jewsons.

Fish and chips were very nice but a star knocked off for the price.

AVOID- Older man was so RUDE. I saw there was no salt and vinegar on the food and asked if I had to do it myself and he went off on one and ridiculed me saying it would take him too long if he had to do it for everyone. I have never known a fish and chip shop to not salt and vinegar everything??? He was slating customers in front of others and made us feel so uncomfortable. The young lad on the tills was lovely and I feel sorry for him that he has to work in such a negative environment. 1st and last time going!

Young lad on the till was brilliant. Very polite and provided a quick service. The older guy serving the food on the other hand was an absolute bellend. Very rude, miserable and just caused an all round awkward atmosphere. Spent over £40 and just put a downer on what was otherwise a nice day out with friends. Owner probably hasn't got his leg over in more than a decade.

Don't bother food terrible, the owners where abusive, our kids and family were inside waiting for their food, a big queue started to form outside so he told them all to move inside then he locked the door, my family could not get out so I knocked on they windows to say let them out, she said the door wasn't locked but it was. My son asked for a double beef burger with salad and Chilli sauce, he received the burger looked at they did put any salad on or Chilli sauce , so he asked the grumpy old owner wher is my salad and Chilli sauce, this is the best bit....................we can't put any on we are to busy.........avoid this shift hole......

Tiny portions,chips not very good

I gave this chippy a second chance over a year apart and wish I’d never bothered, the owner lacks any customer service and quite rude, and on this second visit I only wanted chips, I was told I’d have to wait as they were in the fryer, no problem I thought, then immediately I was served what I found out to be the scrappings that to be honest should have gone in the bin, if I had been any nearer when I found this out I’d have taken them back, basically charged over £4 for probably worst chips ever, go to the harbour chippy, which is just down the road or Flounders’s which is a bit further, in fact go anywhere else, the only positive is that the place is clean.

Small fish and chips £7 eat in or out. Fresh cod , light batter. Nice quick lunch very hot it's a nice amount. Very friendly service.

Went into Truscotts on Monday lunchtime to have a cod & chips takeaway. Guy taking the order was very pleasant & confirmed the ingredients before we ordered. Fish (cod) & chips was cooked lovely & as it had started to rain we were able to sit at one of the tables & chairs inside. Good quality wooden forks were provided for us to eat our meal & the service was very pleasant. Would go back there again.

Quality haddock and chips, considering I am from a north sea fishing city, it was on par with my home town.

While strolling around pretty Newquay just at one of those times when you get peckish, we ran into Truscott's and went in. We were greeted by the owners (couple) who were very friendly and helpful. The Cod and Chips was amazing!! Nice and crispy batter (not too much of it), beautiful white fish and great chips. My wife took a loaded baked potato which she loved!! Definitely one of the best Fish & Chips places we have encountered!! A Newquay MUST!!!!

Haddock, chips and peas - excellent. Fish cooked to order, batter lovely and crisp, chips just right, help yourself to salt and vinegar. Quick, efficient service and the place is spotlessly clean 😊

Stopped in here for lunch earlier. Friendly staff, Fish a little dry but reasonably priced. The small restaurant is dog friendly. Toilets clean.

I’ve been a customer for many years and have always raved about how great it is. I was highly disappointed on my last visit. It seems like they have started cooking the food in vegetable oil, which has totally ruined the taste of the food. I’d never eat here again unless they change what they cook the food in. Don’t bother going here.

Best fish and chips in Newquay, tasty fresh chips and fish is always hot and fresh. I highly recommend the small fish and chips offer, it’s the perfect portion for one person and at a reasonable price too. 😊

Their home made chilli and chips is top tier!

I've been going here for years every time I'm on holiday or working down here for a season and I always get the same meal homemade fishcake and chips! Everything about the place is amazing people food and atmosphere to boot. Highly would recommend this place.

Haven't had chip as good as these in years we had a small portion and it was plenty the fish was also amazing nice and crispy batter wasn't to thick really enjoyed the food will definatly go again

Keep a close eye on what they are serving you here. Ordered chips and was asked to wait while they made some "fresh". Waited over 5 minutes, and then noticed them scraping out the previous chips. Questioned the fact that they said they'd asked me to wait for fresh chips. Insisted they were fresh. Could not be bothered to argue. Would have been better off buying a bag of crisps. Chips might be fine given other reviews here but just watch what they are serving you because my portion should have gone in the bin.

Trip Advisor brought us here and we're so glad it did! So fresh and hot. Nice staff. Wasn't expensive. We'd pay the same in Manchester, and it would be nowhere near as good!

Lovely Chip shop. The owner serving was very friendly and told us to come and have a seat (even though we had our dog with us) Food was very nice and reasonably priced.

The quality of the food is always the same. I had them as my regular for around ten years now. For locals, the location can be slightly out of the way with how the car park gets monitored, so there is always difficulties getting there. The food is amazing though.

We tried a few fish and chip shops in Newquay and it seems we left the best til last! The fish was absolutely the best and freshest cod I've ever tasted, the batter was crisp and light and the chips were also high quality. The service from the staff was exemplary and we made a point of returning to offer feedback. I would recommend Truscotts to anyone looking for quality food at a very reasonable price. Rob & Linda.

Absolutely awful experience. The man who served us was too busy talking to someone else whilst taking our order. My partner ordered sausage chips and peas and the chilli and chips. We sat down and waited and was bought sausage and chips and fishcake and chips. No chilli and no peas. No apology for mixing up the order just 2 very rude members of staff who tried to blame us and said we hadn't ordered what we had. We didn't eat the food but the portions were small and didn't look nice. We asked for our money back. All in all disgusting customer service. We found the harbour chippy over the road was lovely. Lovely staff and amazing food.

Nice chippy with good portion sizes even on the specials. Has seating inside and a toilet if required. Can get busy at lunchtime in the summer but worth the wait for good priced fish and chips.

The portions were not very good, chips tasted stale although the fish was nice with crispy batter. However the man who served us was very rude to us when we asked for the fish to be served separately from the chips and also refused to give us a bag to carry it all in. We will never go there again.

What a fantastic chip shop, we go every year and as a family eat there 3 times a week. Food always great, fish and chips taste marvellous. Great people who run it. I recommend it to anyone.

The worst chips in Newquay I tried whilst there , tasted like they wasn’t fully cooked although they was red hot. The person serving was very rude He said to the gentleman infront of me who was lovely and asked for his chips to be wrapped as he was walking and had his hands full “you don’t need them wrapped just close the lids look, this is how you do it’’ in a very condescending way. He then said to my partner when who asked for our chips to be wrapped “well I’m not going to eat them here am I nom nom nom” very strange response. & then got my brothers order mixed up and again tried to belittle him. Rude and awful food. Wouldn’t recommend 😂

Very pleasant couple running the business and young lad confident, polite and competent. Owners very respectful and making time to chat to regulars. Place was spotless. Lady did a really thorough job and keeping the place clean. Service was fast and fish was very tasty. Really nice to be able to sit and eat and have some respite from the sun and seagulls!!!

Portion size is terrible, even if it wasn't so expensive, you still wouldn't be getting what you paid for.

Very clean BUT the attitude from the lady when we asked for chips NOT scaps. It was a civil request met with sarcasm and attitude that would put anyone off going again. She then proceeded to complain in a very loud voice that potatoes aren’t square and you can’t expect perfect chips. We don’t expect perfect, just chips not scraps, especially when you pay todays prices.

The food was great but the best thing was the staff. They were so friendly and welcoming and couldn’t have been nicer.

This chip shop is absolutely fantastic. The warm welcome you receive & the taste of the food is outstanding. We have had to revisit this as it was just too nice not too! My youngest boy was taken with the lady owner and by the end of our meal Oscar was calling her nana! The batter is crispy and delicious with a hint of lemon the chips are delicious and the atmosphere is 10/10. I can say with upmost confidence I will be coming here again on holiday, if anything just to come back to this wonderful place. Thank you for such a lovely experience & meal/s

Never again small portion for you pay

I stopped in here for lunch mid week in October and it was not busy. I ordered a small fish, chips and mushy peas. I sat in the restaurant and ate my food which was freshly cooked and great tasting. The fish was some of the freshest I have ever had at a fish and chip shop and the batter was light and golden. The chips were also fresh and tasty and the mushy peas just perfect. I cannot fault the quality and value of this meal and highly recommend anybody else to visit!

Turned up 10 mins before closing however the man serving said that it's no problem and warmly welcomed us to use the restaurant side of the takeaway, the homemade Chilli was to die for, the fish and chips were one of the best. Great to see in the current climate a business willing to look after the customer and will be returning very shortly would highly recommend.

Tasty cod and chips for husband and Pie, chips and peas for me. All with gravy. :-)Visited here on 17/08/22 whilst on holiday. Was not disappointed and one guy serving was polite and order process very efficient considering there was a big queue. We went at diner time which is until 2pm then re opens later for tea. Check times before you go. Would recommend

10/10 service. Food was impeccable and the service matched it as well. Done of the best fish and chips I’ve had to date. Friendly members of staff and the curry sauce was sublime. Would recommend if you’re visiting Newquay. Will not disappoint.

Went there with my 3 friends and we all had a superb time. I got the hake and cod which were both delicious and soft, chips were great too. However the best part was service of the couple working, they were so friendly it was beyond belief, I would recommend this place to everybody.

Never again Cod was tasteless, chips were soggy. Not sure if its changed management, but the guy serving was rude, abrupt. Seriously if you are running a business in this present climate, be polite and serve efficiently. Customer after us wanted a plain burger with cheese, the guy serving was on a mission to make them have salad, if a customer wants salad they will ask for it. Will take our custom elsewhere a waste of £30.

The rudest man, I won't be visiting here again!!! Went today, there was a queue outside clearly awaiting takeaway, as they all had their little tickets in their hands. I attempted to walk around them as I was going to sit inside, (which was empty), when the rude man literally shouted at me from behind the counter that I needed to queue outside, although I did not want takeaway. After the way he had spoken to me I decided to go elsewhere. As I walked away I heard him say "see what I mean" to customers awaiting takeaway. Still not exactly sure what that reaction was about, apart from RUDE horrible man! Instead of SHOUTING at people, how about ask them what they actually want, you have NO signage and we're not mind reader's! I definitely won't be back you horrible RUDE man! Great fish n chips very tasty and quick efficient service very well cooked not oily or dry. The only thing is its all put on side so u can do own salt vinegar etc but if you want wrapped you will have to ask not a major issue but most places I've been instantly wrap it to go etc so going by what I'm use to in this case.

Always good, best place for fish and chips in Newquay. Hands down. Right in the centre of town so really conveniently positioned for a quick snack if you're out and about in the town. Friendly staff and great tasting haddock! What more could you ask for? Oh and don't forget to sit on the beach when you tuck in!!

Visited here on a trip to Fistral beach, good value good portion size, very tasty fish and chips, friendly owner. And it's a stone's throw from Newquay harbour so had great views sat eating our treat.

Walked into a lovely welcome from the couple who own it. Fish is gorgeous and reasonable priced. Try the hake, it’s so flakey. Definitely better than any other fish shop we’ve tried in Newquay (even Rick steins)

I feel like someone needs to be updating the opening hours, we visited on a Friday afternoon/evening when it should be open and found it closed. Very disappointed. We were staying locally and sought out a local fish and chip shop that was open. Used Google as a guide. This is more aimed at Google I guess.
