The fish and chips were lovely however portion sizes were an issue, for a large fish and chips, side of curry and peas with x2 drinks we paid nearly £20. However portion sizes were very small. We asked for a medium chips and as seen in the photo that isn’t a medium. Also a large fish should surely be bigger than this??? Knowing from the past when we’ve been the fish is a lot larger than this so I’m hoping it’s a one off thing as we always rant and rave about how nice and reasonably priced it it…

Food is stunning you won't get fish and chips no where as good as this chip shop when we go to Cornwall we always go there love it !!!

The food there is amazing. The menu is massive so you can get whatever your feeling. The staff there are really kind and always get my order right. Don't have to wait long to get it.

Fresh cooked goodly size haddock in crisp tasty batter, soft chips with just the right amount salt and vinegar. Delightful proper fish and chips , I LOVE IT !!!! 😋

Looked forward to trying these and decided to go for it yesterday. Not bad but not the nicest I've had, think they are cooked in oil opposed to dripping so the flavour wasn't the best. Was a little disappointed.

The fish is priced at £8.5, while the chips range between £3-£4 depending on the size. The taste is passable; however, the prices seem too steep for a fish and chips shop in Penzance. I'm on the fence about recommending it. Additionally, the ventilation within the restaurant could be improved

Delicious perfectly cooked haddock, and a large size as standard. Great burger and sausage. Chips are unfussy, but good. We'd leave the curry sauce next time. We recommend and will definitely be back.

Stopped at this take away with a coach trip of 49 people. They were amazingly fast with the orders despite cooking everything freshly. Very efficient and the fish was lovely.

Sorry to say the chips were not the best,some hard ones maybe needs more time on them,lady on counter was brilliant as was busy but noticed not the normal guy cooking,such a shame as prior to this have allways been outstanding

Every time we come to Newlyn we have takeaway from here, the Lemon Pepper Cod is so nice.

Nice place with tasty food. Unfortunately nearly all the time there is a big queue. You need to wait around 20 mins. Staff is polite and friendly, trying their best to do everything as quick as possible.

WOW... I've travelled the UK and had many great fish and chips I love fish and chips and this place is the best... Sorry BEST place I've ever found.. in Penzance there are many Fish & Chip shops and they cannot even come close to how amazing and superb the quality AND quantity of their food is. The staff were super happy and quick too but the fish was huge and zero skin or black bits the batter was so so tasty and flawless and the Chips were Superb. I cannot reccomend enough. Definitely try these over ANY other Penzance chippy Edit: one lady who works here is always depressed unhappy and it carries to the customers...they shut at 8 tankful this made me try Mackerel opposite and they are 1000000x better but more expensive

Dignosed as coeliac a few months back, so being away on holiday and finding a place that catered for gluten-free was a little bit of a nightmare. I found out through Google that Lewis's did gluten-free, so we treated ourselves. Fish and chips and, of course, the gluten-free vinegar. It was worth the wait because it was the best fish & chips I've had. So a big thanks!

Went for fish and chips wednesday lunch time and took them to eat at the harbour. They were disgusting... the batter on the fish was thick, raw underneath and soggy. The chips were tasteless and stuck together. Considering the price of fish and chips these days we expected something edible.

My kids asked me to write this review! As Fish ‘n’ chip connoisseurs they found the chips the best they’ve tasted. They also rated the chicken burger and the battered cod as extremely delicious. The shop is always so busy, but the staff are attentive and friendly. A go to takeaway when we visit Cornwall.

Myself and my wife had 2 Cod and Chips - they were some of the best we have eaten. Good mix of tourists and locals, staff were friendly and there was a good atmosphere in the shop. Fish was flakey and chips were not greasy - regular size is a large in many other places.

Top quality Fish & Chips cooked fresh while we waited. The lady serving was friendly and happy to chat.

Excellent smiley reception on arrival. Ordered 4 cod, 4 chips, 1 fishcake and 2 sausage in batter. All food was fresh and tasty, perfect amount of batter on the fish so not to taste unbalanced. Waited just a few minutes for the freshly cooked food and was very impressed they had a seating area for waiting for take out orders. Would highly recommend!

Really brilliant fish and chips here last week - best me and my bf have ever had and lovely, friendly staff to boot.

We were visiting the theatre in Penzance and needed a quick takeaway meal before hand, decided to pop along to Newlyn for fish and chips, despite a queue our order of 2 cod and chips was ready almost instantly. Good sized portions and nicely cooked, especially the fish. Reasonably priced and would use again.

Hi,I have read the comments made by some and very surprised they didn't think much of the fish and chips,I ordered some over the phone which they agreed to do,and when I got home I thought they were one of the best fish and chips I have ever had,I live in ludgvan and thought they would degraded by the time I got home,but no they were still fresh hot and perfect.

Didn't get to the point of ordering as staff so rude the moment I walked in the door. Very unhelpful and very brash. Maybe the red haired lady is going on her customer service course in the new year if not I suggest you change her customer facing position to a back room role! Merry Christmas

I understand its half term Wednesday and they were busy, however I had a Haddock that was so overcooked in fact everything we had was overcooked!! Except the chips. When Its a treat to eat out and get served that rubbish really dissatisfied and I feel I've wasted my money!! Yes I am local and a Chef!!

Superb fish 🐟 and chip 🍟 shop with quick, well mannered service in very clean and tidy surroundings... there was a queue outside onto the street when we drove past later after we'd eaten our meal which proved to us the level of its reputation.. tops 👌 Highly Recommended.

Had to visit here when staying in Newlyn and it had been highly recommended. Asked what type of fish to go for when in there and both the staff and customers all said the haddock. It was the best fish and chips that I have had this year by far and had it with chips and curry sauce. Would strongly recommend to anyone visiting this part of Cornwall.

Worst fish and chip shop I have ever used, staff looked dirty and were eating behind the counter fish and chips were very poor quality, fish was frozen not fresh, boy what you would expect from a harbour town avoid at all costs and very expensive as well.

Came In tonight with my wife, the food was outstanding however their was a member of staff with blonde hair who was extremely rude towards us and threw our food on the counter, we wasn’t very happy

The best fish and chips I ever had! I am not the biggest fan of fish and chips but the one here was amazing! It was fresh, cooked right not soaked in oil and just tasted amazing! I had the lemon pepper one but I can assume all the others are just as good! Would definitely come back!

Spent £22 on 2 lots of cod and chips and 2 curry sauces 1 pot of peas... asked for one lightly battered they were identical, chips were undercooked curry sauce tasted like paste and the miniture sized 'cod' was questionable in possibly being pollock! Overpriced rubbish 🗑 wont be going back

Made to queue outside in the rain like common muck. Chips need more seasoning but the seasonings are gate kept by the extremely abrasive staff. Little fyi, it’s not good customer service to SLAM peoples food on the counter and it’s also poor customer service to chat amongst yourselves rather than serve. Two start because they didn’t use polystyrene.

Cooked fresh, nice. Regular portion costs about £10 and they did a good selection of fish if you fancied something different.

Food was ok Fish is more expensive and smaller here than back at home Shame because it is so close to the fish market - you kind of expect more for your money

Travelled 5 hours and stopped by this takeaway for fish and chips. Politely asked the brunette lady at the till if they would be able to accommodate to our dietary requirements as alot of other places have been able to. She looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language and after explaining it to her she replied with "there's the menu it's whatevers on there". Never been spoken to like that since being in Cornwall. Went to the mackerel place across the road and they were extremely accommodating and friendly. You'd rather spend the extra money for better service. Lacked basic manners. I think I can see what's on the menu hence why I asked. I had a read of the previous comments and a few have said the same thing. Not a very nice place.

The large chips were a tad "small" would of been nice to have the box filled and hardly any :(

Great service, fish was cooked through just right and same with the chips. Unlike most chippies I didn’t feel like our chips were greasy. We ordered two fish and a large chips between us which was a perfect meal size for us both with the amount of chips we got. Only criticism is the salting of the chips was uneven but still 5/5

Check the opening times by phone as you could be disappointed We travelled from Newquay today for fish and chips planning our day around the online lunch opening times of 12 till 2pm Got there at 1pm and it was closed Very disappointed as we had travelled a long way to visit especially with fuel prices as they are at the moment

So good food and friendly customers, food to die for and at a decent price as well, would highly recommend to absolutely everyone. Will definitely be returning

Called in for cod and chips after visiting Mousehole and Newlyn Christmas Lights. The food was cooked to order so very fresh and the batter was light, bubbly and delicious. Will definitely call again.

Needs cleaning, it smelt horrendous in there, could do with an update there is rust on the counter top. Almost walked out but we needed to grab some food quickly, and it was busy and reviews say its great. The chicken was very very dry, the chips were OK. Even at the end of a long day a certain quality of customer service is required too.

This is one of the best chippies in Newlyn, as you can expect the fish is amazing and is freshly cooked whilst you wait in the most crispy and delicious light batter. Parking is nonexistent so make sure you allow for this and expect to queue to place your order and again to pick it up. The staff are very efficient so you won't be waiting long. Closes around 8pm, so make sure your in the queue before then and you'll be fine. However don't expect a full menu near the end of the day as this is a very popular place (pardon the pun). Cards are now accepted so a bonus . Make sure you make time for a visit, you will not be disappointed.

Absolutely cracking fish and chips at a good price and large portions. Don’t be discouraged by the queue as this should tell you all you need to know about the quality, just set yourself for a little wait. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Check the closing times as they’re earlier than you might expect at around 8-9pm.

Don’t understand the good reviews. Soggy chips, unremarkable fish from a shop that looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. If we hadn’t been starving we wouldn’t have eaten it. Try Jeremys for fish and chips instead or if you can afford it, the amazing Mackerel fish bar across the road.

We went here twice during our stay and it did not disappoint on either occasion. You have to queue to order then queue again to pick up but neither queue takes very long and it was lovely to chat to some people in the queue. The portions are really generous and super tasty. We had the cod/scampi and sausage. My teenager and I shared a meal and there was still too much. Lovely customer service from some very busy staff. Highly recommend.
