A lovely evening organised by the British Legion, sadly let down by the awful food and service. An hours wait to get our main meal, which was just about warm but burnt, and a further 35 minutes to get our desert. The service was slow, the food was burnt and inedible. All this for £25 a head. No thanks. Not going next year.

This promised to be French-style bistro and that's exactly what it is:busy, tables close together, informal table setting etc. The menu is not huge but every item we ordered was perfect. If it's not on menu, they ain't got it - all fresh. We loved our meal and the friendly service. Very French, fun and enjoyable.

Had a lovely meal at Mill lane Bistro on Valentines Day. Took the lunch on the day option and seemed to eat earlier than the rest of the bookings, who started to arrive as we were leaving. But even though there was only one other couple eating at the time we were, that did not detract from our experience. The lunch menu was very good, with enough choices for an enjoyable meal. The only negative was that it would have been nice to decorate the place with a theme for that weekend; something a bistro we used to go to did, which made the event even more special.

Have visited Mill Lane Bistro a few times before and have thoroughly enjoyed it. This time the food was ok but the service was below the usual standard (maybe because the owner was absent on this particular evening). Waitresses seemed slow to take orders and we sat for ages just waiting to order drinks. The thing that really annoyed me was that when presented with the bill we were overcharged by about £75, being charged for 2 bottles of port instead of 2 glasses. Our party had spent £200+, so luckily we noticed and had it corrected. It was a fun night out, but just not as slick as usual.

My friend and I like to meet somehow halfway between our homes to have dinner. We have tried a few restaurants in West Hamstead, and so far Mill Lane Bistro has been the best one. The restaurant is very warm and welcoming. We had very nice food, a lot fitting for my friend who is a vegetarian. The wine list is short but good choices. The waitresses were friendly but not the most attentive. We will be back.

Seven of us went to Mill Lane Bistro for a special occasion. Tables are rustic, but food is not. It's traditional French fayre, executed very well, as far as we could tell... as we never got to the puddings. After the starters, the friend next to me felt water on her clothing. It was dripping from the ceiling. The manager, in true French style, put down a Champagne bucket to catch the drips. Soon after, a trickle of water made a ceiling light bulb explode. There was a baby in a pram near it - fortunately unharmed. The manager looked like a rabbit caught in headlights. We had to suggest he turns off the lighting circuit. When the glass globe of the ceiling light close to our table started to fill with water, my friend decided to move herself and my son to a far table. Thank God, as the globe came crashing down soon after. She could have been concussed or worse. The manager at that point was in blind panic, paying no attention to the welfare of diners. We had channelled the spirit of the Blitz while eating our mains, but in the face of such indifference, we decided to abort the visit. Given the scale of the disruption to our meal and the potential harm, the discount was measly, came only after I asked, and with bad grace. No apology for the disruption or danger. He did not even say goodbye. I will not go back, however nice the food.

I had relatives staying and wanted to take them somewhere different from the usual Sunday roast establishments, we were pleasantly surprised by the menu catering for all tastes including fussy eater and vegetarian. The home made bread which was offered by very pleasant waitress was excellent. the waitress explained the menu and left us to decide what we wanted . the food was well presented and for the price excellent value. We had a table of eight, and a couple of fussy eaters as well as a Veggie and for once everyone was happy. Beef was fantastic, pie was full and the friendly staff just kept checking to see if we had enough veg and sauces etc, which was useful as Nan does like a lot of sauce. We didn't think we would have room for dessert but they were just too tempting - best Brulee ever and the sticky toffee pud went down well too.

My wife and I visited Chefs Maria and Richard who have transformed Sunday Lunch into a gastronomic experience. It was simply outstanding. The town is screaming out for high quality cooking with a full range to suit all tastes. Carvery it most certainly is not! Richard is a C F E catering school tutor and with Tanners in Plymouth. Maria is a well known local high quality chef and works for celebrities who often "hide away around the Torpoint area". This is a venture that deserves to succeed. We are French and went there to test it. Actually, it was really good and all the dishes and wine were great but... It was expensive compare to the meal we get. Maybe our judgement is based on a comparison with another French restaurant in Kilburn which is 50% less expensive for a meal quite similar. But for people who have a money to spend or for a romantic diner it's great.

Excellent food and very good wine. The only thing that let the evening down slightly was the abruptness and slight arrogance of the proprietor / manager. Unlike the other staff he could do with being friendlier and acknowledging you when you are leaving given you have dropped £100 on a meal for two. The wine and food selection offers a good choice whatever you are in the mood for. We had snails and frogs legs for starters, the frogs legs pan fried in garlic butter were meaty, tender and satisfying. We both had confit leg for duck which was delicious, thetangy sauce that cuts through the rich duck and complements the potatoes. The skin wasn't crisp though, which stopped it being a perfect dish.Pudding if different tarts was delightful.

Mill Lane Bistro is a charming venue, it really does feel like an intimate French bistro but is, sadly, let down by the food. Fish was served under-cooked and when returned was definitely "of" and acknowledged to be so. A beautifully cooked duck breast was spoiled by being smothered in a thick 'cherry' sauce (which might have been nice to dip into if served in a separate dish) and the mashed potato and celeriac was hard, tepid and tasteless. Nice venue that needs to get the kitchen in order.

Had a fairly enjoyable meal food of a good standard. The only thing that I could fault was, I had duck was not asked how I would like it done, did not say anything as being a French restaurant expected to get it pink the way I like it but came up too well cooked for me. Also the chairs where not very comfortable and without the 25% discount would have been a little expensive.

We also noticed another couple come in and left waiting at the door for ages before even being acknowledged by the staff. One more person working would have helped. We were also seated by the front door so were very cold as people coming in and going out did not shut the door behind them.

We had passed Mill Lane Bistro numerous times and, yet, never went in. We kept saying that we must visit. And so when my father offered to pay for a night out, we took him up on it and went to the Mill Lane Bistro. It's a cute little place that has that French bistro feel. The menu is varied as is the wine list. Service was the perfect amount of attentive and relaxed. It was nice not to be rushed as we made our way through three courses. In the end, we were very happy to have stopped by as the food was quite good. My parents, husband and I left the restaurant very satisfied.

We enjoyed our food here; particularly duck belly as a main was excellent.

As always the food was great. There was a festive option (Turkey) which was a nice change. They always have specials and change the menu so even regulars get to try new things... A really nice little restaurant off the beaten track in West Hampstead. A great French wine selection.

Rabbit and duck plates I've tried so far have been delicious. The cheese platter is small but varied and rich, plenty for pudding. The wine list is a real treat and it's possible to order just a glass of most special wines, much better quality wines and choice than most restaurants

Lovely to find a cozy restaurant serving French food as it used to be. Delicious, generous portions, attentive service, obviously popular as many were turned away. Phenomenal value with TT 50% deal. Easy parking.

Visited Butter Bun at least once a week since the new owner took over earlier this year and it’s a wonderful cafe and take away, the bacon, chicken and mayo sandwich are so nice and as for the cheesecakes they are AMAZING 🤩 It’s so clean and the staff are friendly, they really take pride in what they do xx

I recently visited Count House Cafe in Geevor on a Sunday, and it was a great experience! They offer an all-day breakfast that is honestly one of the best breakfast menus I’ve ever seen. As someone with a dairy intolerance, I was pleasantly surprised to find an amazing vegan breakfast option available. I opted for the vegan breakfast, which included French toast made with local sourdough, hash browns, vegetable sausages, and pancakes. It was a huge breakfast, but every bite was delicious! It was so refreshing to have a different option for once, and I truly appreciated the effort they put into creating such a satisfying yet truly delicious meal. The cafe also has an amazing view from the window, making the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend Count House Cafe to anyone looking for a great breakfast spot with plenty of delicious options. I can't wait to return and try more from their menu!

Monday evenings are very busy, motorbike meet night. Despite the large queue, managed to get served fairly quickly and food brought to table too.

We loved the cozy, comfortable, and clean atmosphere. The food was delicious. We had the Naan pizza appetizer, roast pork with brandied apples, and the rice bowl. We paired it with cider. It was wonderful. The owner was friendly and very pleasant and visited each table. We really enjoyed our 38th anniversary. Thanks for the wonderful night.
