Butter Bun in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

This place is a must vist especially anyone walking the south west coastpath top quality food with the best ingredients and also a lovely smile and conversation to go with it pop in and say hello. Oh and yes it's dog friendly and my boy milo definitely approves

First visit and had the breakfast wrap.....it's huge !!!!.....lovely food, lovely service,very big menu, and lovely owner....and a very good price. I would really recommend this for a bit of lunch. 👍

Waited in the small queue for about 20 mins, each person was waiting approx 20 minutes..we finally got to be the next person...another customer walked in and she took his order! She had No awareness of who was next!. We walked out disgusted! No explanation of "we are busy you may have to wait......minutes?"

Took over 40 minutes for 3 toasties, one bagel and a baguette. I would understand if it was the lunchtime rush but we ordered at 14:40. Whilst we were waiting for our food 2 other customers came in and ordered after us and got their sandwiches well before us. Food was acceptable once received but it is over priced for what it is.

Visited Saturday 5/20 for lunch, aside from the young lady behind the counter being on her phone the entire time I was there, ordered roast beef baguette and egg mayo baguette for £14. Bread wasn’t nice. Fillings were sad. Honestly an irritating experience.

Excellent food, freshly and carefully prepared. It’s not particularly quick, but definitely worth the wait.

Great little lunch spot. Managed to get a table and ordered some food. I can't eat dairy/soya and they were really great. I accidentally ordered a coffee frappe thinking it would be without milk (🤦🏻‍♀️) and they happily exchanged it with an iced black coffee. Food was delicious, would return again next time I'm in the area!

Delicious bacon baguette and nice capuccino

Ordered a baked potato with cheese and beans. Had to wait 25 mins and received a spud with half a normal portion of beans and sprinkle of cheese. A complete waste of my time and money.

The ladies in here are super friendly and make the greatest Chicken & Bacon club you will ever taste! The bread is so soft and delicious! Hot drinks are also amazing! Definitely recommend 🤤

I’m a local in Bude and can confirm that the staff are just lovely. Always have been. Service is quick as possible and the food is always delicious. Genuinely missed this place when I left for uni in sep, but coming straight back when I get home early December (hoping for a Yorkshire pudding thingy, can’t remember what they’re called, but they’re bloody good!) x chin up butter bun, “nolite te bastardes carborundorum” ;)

Visited with my husband and children. Waited forever for food, especially the vegan option. When questioned how long the food would be, we received a very rude abrupt response from the member of staff. The Children were actually quite scared of her and asked to leave. Food was at most average and the service very poor. They clearly do not like having customers sit in!! Not a great introduction to Cornwell for us.

Walked in, hadn't even sat down when waitress refused to serve us calling us middle class idiots!Shocked at the response of asking to be seated and turned to leave.Waitress clearly having a bad day continue being abusive and slammed the door INTO my friends back as he walked out!Nothing short of assult and for no reason.Disgusting behaviour in front of customers and children displayed by the member of staff.Shocked and astonished at this disgusting display of unprovoked behaviour we will never return.AVOID. There are plenty of better places to eat where staff are trained to respect their customers.

Just the best sandwiches in bude

We just stopped of for a bit to eat before heading back, food was fresh and my wrap and Mr's sandwich where full and oozing with fillings. Service was cheery and pleasant. They even had time to fuss the dog. Would definitely recommend.

This place was lovely, very friendly. When we sat down with the kids they brought their sandwiches straight away while we decided and even made them a little side plate of veggies. Lovely food and coffee for is grownups too

So my partner and I and my Frenchie were in Bude looking for a much needed cuppa and bite to eat , our Frenchie clearly wanted to come in here for a bite to eat and he wasn't disappointed ! The 2 very kind and lovely ladies fed him pieces of chicken and made a real fuss of him , as did the guy prepping the food! The food was fresh, clean and very tasty and the cuppa was liquid gold , people moaning about speed of service shocked me, after all , Bude isn't New York or London , will definately visit here again

Noticed a few bad reviews from impatient people about this place. Anywhere you go in Cornwall during the busy season has a wait. This place is so nice and is always worth the wait. The best places are always busy and sometimes you get bad luck with the timing it's just how it is. Needless to say the food here is so good. Best sandwiches in the area.

40 minute wait for a very average Ham & cheese toastie.... Appreciate it's a local business but unacceptable wait.

I regularly visit butter bun for a sandwich for my lunch. Every time it is slow. I always pre order my lunch for a specific time and EVERYTIME it is not ready on time. I’ve had enough and I will never be returning. Every member of staff in there takes SO long to make any sandwich, how difficult can it be? Every staff member shouts and chats rubbish while making the food, it’s so unprofessional. I have spoken to many friends and family members and they have all said the same. They need to take a leaf out of subways book. AVOID AT ALL COSTS - unless you want to wait 30 minutes or more for a sandwich.

Stopped in again (a regular haunt) but this time on the annual mission for a Christmas dinner in a Yorkshire pud. One word - nom. Nomnomnomnomnom. It is to die for. Couldn’t move for an hour or so. An absolute must if you’re in Bude

Called in whilst browsing the shops and street's of Bude. Cosy little place. Menu looked good and plenty to choose from. I had Ham and Pea soup with chunky bread on the side whilst my partner, she chose a baked potato with chilli con carne with a side salad. Both dishes were delicious. Owners friendly and chatty, especially if your a dog owner. Reasonably priced.

Told me to hang in whilst they did something else. Someone else came in and left an order whilst I was still stood there. Neither could be bothered to take an order so I left, they obviously don't need it want the custom

A wonderful experience, some would say it’s just a sandwich, had beef and horseradish salad sandwich on granary, was quite something, plenty of filling and a very reasonable price. The next day we had chilli beef burrito and a tuna melt with vanilla frappe to eat in and took away another beef and horseradish and a chicken and chorizo salad for eating on the beach later. Again plentiful filling and wonderful tasting. Thanks to the lovely staff, all very cheerful and accommodating. We will definitely see you again

Little gem in bude. Food was amazing at really good prices and the staff were really friendly. What more can you ask

I had to wait a very long time for my toastie. In fact I had to remind the staff who were so busy talking that they forgot about me! It was overcooked and almost too hard to eat! No salad garnish either although the blackboard said everything came with salad. By then I was running so late I didn’t ask for the salad. Will not be going back.

We had just arrived in Bude and was walking round looking for somewhere to have a nice cup of tea, when we came upon the BUTTER BUN. It said dogs welcome so in we went, to be greeted by a lovely lady. We order a Hunter's Chicken Toastie and a bowel of Leek and Potato Soup. Tea for 2 as well. While waiting for our food the lovely lady came and treat our 2 dogs to chicken treats, which they both enjoyed very much. Places like this that make you very welcome with your dogs are just fantastic in our books and are always good to eat in. Our food was great the service was good and the staff very friendly.Also we had 2 cookies to finish with our tea which were gorgeous.Thanks to the lovely lady and a X form our dogs for the treats.

Waited 45mins for a couple of panini and some soup, they were bust but this was ridiculous. When raised with staff they apologised but were also rude and defensive

Great food and friendly service

A friendly little cafe in the centre of Bude. The decaf coffee was excellent, which you don't find everywhere, so Kudos! My wife and I had a great toasted sandwich lunch and hot drink.

This is the place to eat ...beef burritos yorkshire pudding wrap and the meat ball baguette are the best ...friendly staff too :)

As local hotel was (we thought) expensive for breakfast, we ate at this cafe. The breakfasts were lovely - hubby had full English (said it was one of the best he's ever eaten out) and I had Scrambled Egg with smoked salmon and vocado on granary bread. Delicious. So the menu choice was great. Friendly staff too. Thank you.

There really is not alot to say about this place?! It's just amazing! Every time we holiday in Cornwall we always make a special trip to this place! It can be a short wait for the food but its more than worth it

Popped in to get a quick lunch with our two older children and an 18 month old. We only ordered three sandwiches and they took 25 minutes to be made with some people coming in after us getting their sandwiches before us?! I at first thought it must have been because I’d ordered a halloumi wrap....however upon eating it the grilled halloumi wasn’t even warm! No apologies for the wait while we were stood there, it was extremely infuriating and they seemed to become annoyed when our toddler began to play up due to the wait! If we hadn’t already paid we would have walked out.

We’ve been here for a week and have only just stumbled on this little gem of a shop! Wonderful atmosphere, clean and nicely decorated, friendly staff and out of this world sandwiches. We ordered the chicken club & chicken, bacon and avocado and they arrived piled high with fresh ingredients and all for very reasonable prices. Keep up the great work taking the rest of the high street to school - we’ll be back tomorrow :)

Popped in here for lunch with our dog. Having read earlier reviews I was really happy with the speed of the custom made sandwiches, did we have to wait a little, yes HOWEVER they were made fresh in front of us and were delicious. If we wanted speedy we would have gone to impersonal subway. Instead what we got was polite and attentive service for both ourselves and our dog (she had chicken as a treat) and a healthy and hearty lunch

Being vegan I sometimes find it difficult to eat out with friends but Butter Bun had so many different options for all of the group I went out with on Saturday, the staff were very friendly even though they were rushed off their feet and everybody really enjoyed their food. Seems it’s the place the locals go for their lunch too, which is a good sign. Will go back when ever I’m in Bude for sure.

I live in bude and have used butter bun often, Everytime I am increasingly infuriated by the speed of service, but this time pushed me into reviewing, Me and my girlfriend went in hoping for two sandwiches quickly for lunch, It took 15 minutes to be served in a PACKED restaurant of just 4 people. When we did eventually get served the process of watching the lady make two sandwiches was unbelievably painful. It must’ve taken 20 minutes, and she was getting the order consistently wrong...despite writing the bloody thing down. It’s honestly like watching people in slow motion, It’s a big shame because the foods decent once it arrives but the efficiency of the staff is just appalling,

Fat Friday every week is spent at Butter Bun, honestly couldn't recommend this place enough. It has character, charm and amazing food, all handmade and prepared for you to order.

Friendly staff, good food and free Wi-Fi! It would be remiss of you not to stop by!

Last visited when in the previous location. Was blown away back then. This time, less so.

We have been eating at the Butter bun for many years now (while on holiday in bude) always found the staff friendly and welcoming, we have eaten lunch there 4 times this week as my daughter loves the jacket pots (beans & cheese) and my husband loves the super fast internet connection. Would def recommend it.

Visited hoping for a quick takeaway lunch and the lady making the sandwiches seemed to be in absolutely no rush at all, took around 20 minutes to make two sandwiches. Also specified a vegan requirement which we were told was no problem at all but then my sandwich came covered mayonnaise. The food was ok but probably won't come back.

Popped in for a jacket potatoes whilst in Bude. Caught our eye from the outside. Very modern and cl3an looking. Friendly staff. Great prices, good portion size. Only to be improved is perhaps slightly more side salad. Good vegan and veggie options.

use this place 2 to 3 times a week for lunch on the go ,better if you ring order in to collect as service can be a little slow if you go in on spec.

Fancied a full breakfast and the price appealed to my frugal nature, never been before but wasn't disappointed freshly cooked, nice ingredients and tea and toast in the price. Wife was watching the sandwiches being made over my shoulder and had a running commentary on the sizeable filings and we should try next time.

We stopped by (4 adults, 2 children and 2 babies) for lunch, never been before, great big cups of tea, because I'm akward I wanted something that's not in the huge menu..no problem. Great value for money, great sandwiches and toasties no messing or daft stuff going on just you get what you want..Top marks..wouldn't hesitate in returning when we are back in this area.

Don't get me wrong, the staff are fantastic and the range of sandwiches also fantastic. We popped in for a takeaway sandwich during a lunchtime. The shop was relatively quiet but there were a few in. We were welcomed relatively quickly by a polite and friendly member of staff. The first disappointment was the meatballs coming out of the freezer to be microwaved for the meatball sandwich. The second disappointment was the time it took to make two sandwiches. Although we have come use to the laid back lifestyle of Bude, over 20 minutes to make 2 sandwiches is a bit excessive. The third and final disappointment was the stomach ache and nausea I suffered after the meatball sandwich.Hopefully we just had a bad experience!

We spotted this little shop / cafe and went in for a lunchtime sandwich. Have to say they were the best sandwiches we've ever had! Lovely staff as well.

For a place that is surrounded by cafes and bars, this has to be the only healthy choice in Bude. Fresh and tasty! My favourite place in town!!

Popped in here for a coffee and a bite to eat whilst waiting to check in to our hotel ...... What a find so many choices of sandwich fillings,jacket potato toppings etc all sounding delicious. It took us 10 minutes to decide what to have and we really enjoyed what we had. Would definitely recommend to others ... Excellent value for money.

Went in for breakfast in April (full monty for a fiver including tea/coffee) and it was delicious. Our pug was welcomed with open arms too, and even given some treats along the way! Thoroughly recommended! We'll be back sometime!

I and my work colleagues go here regularly for teas/coffees and their excellently filled sandwiches, i don't how they get it all in the slices...

We go to Bude on many occasions and visit most of the cafes with mixed outcomes but usually pretty good. Butter Bun though is right in the heart of the main street, tucked away but is well worth checking out ! We went on Friday and had a lovely sandwich ( chicken, bacon , mayo on granary with salad ).........superb with lovely coffee. Great staff and very friendly all round and good value too

We were visiting Bude as we were on holiday in the area. This cafe welcomes dogs, and also treats them like royalty! Our bulldog George was greeted and given some treats by the staff.The service was quick and friendly, and the drinks and snacks were lovely.We would return if we were in the area again.

Place looked OK from outside, requested various items on the menu, but all not available, walked on to find somewhere which could provide something we liked

Went to Bude for a job interview and popped into Butter Bun. The cream cheese and salmon baguette was awesome and I had my first coffee frappe there too, Was absolutely delicious. The staff were lovely and friendly and it was spotlessly clean. Incidentally, I got the job and will be moving to Bude in the next couple of months. I know where I will be getting my lunch from everyday.

Been to this place a few times now and I have to say it is by far my favourite coffee shop, just seems to have nicer drinks than Costa and starbucks. This place also does amazing sandwiches and we think it's better than subway and far better quality ingriedients. Absolutely massive sandwiches as well the meatfeast is one of the largest sandwiches I've ever eaten. Staff are very friendly and always take time to have a laugh with us as my my girlfriend accidently knocked her drink over and they remember this every time they see us. I wish there was a place like this back at home, one of the main reasons we come on holiday to bude so much is this place. Keep up the good work.

Popped in for a cream tea, very pleasant waiter, very obliging. We were sat in a middle table a little cramped, so a corner table was cleared and offered to us.

Butter bun has a good menu and its quite a big menu lots of options just all cold they did ask if we wanted anything warm so kind of wierd having a cold bacon and chicken baguette and its a very small shop so you get stuck siting next to someone else so hard to have a conversation with the misses and it gets pretty noisey in there when the blend up drink so noisey you cant hear your self yet alone someone else, the sandwhich were nice and fresh but took forever to get to us. All I can really say is service is slow but prices are good and he shop is a bit cramped and be nice if could get hot baguettes, I woukd recommend coming here just take out dont eat in

I visited this establishment last week with my family and I have to say I was extremely disappointed. My main concern was for the hygiene. The staff were picking the food by hand and were not wearing gloves. As I was worried about cross contamination, and didn't want to make a fuss in front the family the sandwiches went in the bin! The staff were also very rude and unfriendly and didn't seem to know what they were doing.

The sandwiches are brilliant, can't really fault them. My main gripe is the staff who sometimes treat you as an inconvenience. Everyone likes to feel welcome!

Popped in for lunch with my family and was pleased to see that not only could I have a gf sandwich but they also had delicious cake too. The rest of the family had baguettes filled with filing of their choice, made fresh. I was impressed by for a small cafe they certainly have a wide choice of sandwich, baguette and panini together with a huge choice of filling. And gluten free bread too.

to leave a review on a sandwich would have to make it a pretty good sandwich, and that it was, great service, beautiful fresh bread, so good, i had to get another one the next day.. taken my sandwich expectations to another level now, thankyou!

We popped in on a sunny visit to Bude for some holiday clothes. A vast array of choices when it comes to fillings and the bread product Husband went for Brie & bacon on white bread with the offer of having the bacon warm. He went for this and was more than satisfied! I've never heard him so vocal about a sandwich before!I opted for the chicken and bacon on granary and could only manage one half it was so filling!A great lunch option in Bude to take away and sit and enjoy the views and sunshine (or eat in when it's raining!).

We have been there twice. Had coffee, cappucino and mocca coffe. All was great. The Sandwiches can be selfmade by choosing bread and fresh ingredience. Really liked it. Dog friendly a plus!!

For one of the best sandwiches to take away or eat in it has to be butter bun. Always quick and so tasty with a wide variety.

Having read the reviews we attended Butter Bun - it was mid afternoon and it appeared the owner/manager had one eye on tidying up ready to close - we did ask and were shown a very pleasant table - whilst not on their board we did ask if they did a toasted tea cake and were duly accommodated - by the time we were ready to pay for our teacakes and coffees we were delegated to one of the two young men working there - he struggled to find a price for the teacakes but we were then told they were £2.50 each - we paid but must say that having frequented the area find this to be very expensive - whilst others still arrived after ourselves we still felt a little under pressure to eat up and leave!!!

Wish I could find more time to stop in butter bun, had my favourite sandwich made ( sausage egg mayo and onion) was yummy mmmm, the two sisters that run it are extremely helpful and happy will visit whenever I can, might have to do a drive by service for us builders :)

BEST sandwich in Bude and the surrounding area. Value for money and service with a smile!!!! Absolutely love the food in this shop and cannot recommend it enough. The recent refurbishment from the new owners looks FAB!!!!! xxx

The sandwiches at Butter Bun are second to none, lots of filling, lots of choice & almost too cheap to be true! I had a meat feast, it was massive, really impressive. My partner had a healthy option, veg noodles which were delicious, my friend had the chicken bacon & mayo. Service was good too, really cheery. Will be making this a regular haunt.
